SAP Consultant

hi
Can anyone tell e what are the different roles and responsibilities of SAP consultant. which module is good for career? please this is urgent. please tell me ASAP.

Hi, and welcome to SDN.
Let me give you some general advice:
The use of "urgent" or "ASAP" is not considered very polite in this forum - we are all here because we like to help, not because we get paid for. Please consider this.
As for your question:
There is no "good" or "bad" module to choose for your career. And your responsibilities as a consultant will vary from company to company, so no general statement possible here either.
Just find something you like to do, learn everything you can about it, and give your best.

  • How to "measure" working time of external SAP consultant, impossible?

    Hello,
Could anyone tell me is there any way to track/measure external SAP consultant time (which works from different geographic location online) and how much did one SAP consultant spend time/effort in solving any problem, no matter if it is entering new entry in some table (DEV-QAS-PRD) or some serious problem etc.
Problem is I that  external SAP consultant had send me the bill for solving some problem which took him 3 hours to resolve. However, I know that this problem can be solved 100% for 1.5h and that's reason I am asking this question.
Is the best soulution to ask for detailed timesheet every time my external SAP consultant makes some changes - sends me the bill?
I hope I explained it correctly, any help is appreciated and many thanks in advance for prompt replys!
    Cheers;)
    Sam

    Thnx for quick reply Lucas!
It's a matter of trust that way...
Better have him come to your location and have him work locally with you or whomever together so you can actually see what he does.
I already had chance to to this and that is ok but sometimes my external SAP consultant must work from another geographic location (online via Interent) because there is no other way..
The fact that you could solve a problem faster than the consultant doesn't justify paying less or the like either... switching the consultant might help ;-/
I know but thing is that I would like to know why someone says that he needs 12 minutes to do a 5 push-ups when average person can do it in 2-3 minutes, if you know what I mean.
not really a helpful reply and a bit pessimistic, I know... let's see what the others suggest :-P
It's ok, I understand because you are realistic but I also hope for some other answers, I hope some of the answers will help me and put smile on my face;))
    All the best,

  • Transition from SAP Consultant to Enduser Profile

    Folks
I am a certified SAP Consultant and currently working as a consultant in implementation projects. I have got a offer from one of the Govt organization. But the Job is a kind of End user profile. I am stuck up with a taught that whether such a step back in my career is worth as I know how difficult was it to get a break into consulting. Looking at benefits and job security, the job seems to be lifetime secure .
Can someone suggest me as to wat step I should take and decide about the move.
I am 28 years old with around 7 years of total exp, with 3 years consulting exp.
    Looking for suggestions..
    Murad

    Shaikh,
It does not have to be necessarily seen as a backward step. Your personal aspiration and situation should dictate whether you want to take that role or move. From my standpoint, you have plenty of time to go back to consulting if you ever wanted to. The fact that this is public sector, may allow you to expand and learn different areas. Plus, as is the norm these days with public sector organizations, it is easy to find acceptance to attend SAP trainings and events.
    Good luck!

    Thanking you in advance.

I just wanted to point out that skill as a programmer is more important than being able to use any particular language.
But you may still run into difficulties trying to move from accountancy back into programming. Most employers do want to hire programmers who already know ABAP. So while age shouldn't be an issue, there will be others.

  • Req suggestion to start up Career for SAP consultant

    Hi all,
Can u suggest me how can I start up my career as SAP Consultant in SD or WMS, I have 7 + years of  Experience in Both the modules as End user now I want to start up my career as consultant... Can u plp guide me how to Start up and what are required for the same?

    Hello Surender,
It good that you have chosen a path to be an SAP Consultant.
As a end user for more than 7 years, you will be familiar with business process and with SAP technicalities too.
So, you can go ahead and give certification exam. If you feel you need a training before giving certification, You can have a formal training in SAP authorized education partner and then apply for certification.
While going through this, i wish to tell you some things which a person should keep in mind while going for certification.
Kindly do Remember, SAP Certification is not a Job Guarantee Program. Certification may add a value to it if you possess enough domain knowledge.
Companies Need Consultants who have good experience and knowledge in Business scenarios.
So, if you are good with Business process and have a valid SAP certification, then it will be easy for you to crack the interviews and get a break in your consulting career.
Regarding to your question about which module to choose SD or WMS, It is up to you to choose a module, Learn and Excel in that. There is no standard answer for choosing a module.
I would suggest you to choose a module in which you know the business process more.
All the best for your SAP Consulting career.

  • Becoming SAP consultant...

    Hello,
I have gain a lot of experience in developing business software in last 7 years and in previous 2011 year I had start learning about SAP so it happens that it got under my skin and I like it;)
What I would like to know is what are the first steps in becoming successeful SAP consultant, do I have to pass some strict courses/certifications or is it possible to be self-educated and to work normally as SAP consultant for any company?
Any suggestions are welcome and many thanks in advance!
    Cheers;)

    Hi Sam,
The first priority is to gain knowledge, not certification. Certification will help you and give you an edge once
you become knowledgeable in your area/domain.
You should start working as SAP consultant in a company. Gain enough knowledge and then go for certification
after few years. Then you will be able to perceive the certification. Otherwise you will just learn for certification
which will not be of much help in your career.
You can as well go through this blog as a reference on how things work at SAP.

  • Low cost way to become SAP consultant

    Hi Experts,
There are so many courses for each module.
The total course for full certification course is huge , for most people.
For those new to ERP, its a huge risk to take considering at the end of the day the certified consultant who has no experience may still not get any job.
This is why I need some good advice from experts here.
For SD, is there or are there 1 or a few courses I can take to be sufficient to go for interviews to work as SD analyst or support staff or project team member, out of the whole list of courses in SD ?
Really hope you can help me.
    Thanks
    John

SCM is a good area. To start with learn sap modules like MM, PP which are related to SCM. Once you have comfort in these areas you could move in to APO which is also called as SCM. In addition to the posted websites you could also look into

  • Website for the list of Certified SAP Consultants

    Hello Guyz,
Can anyone tell me what site or how can I check if a certain person passed the SAP Certification exam?
    is this confidential?
    Please help..will reward points..
    Thanks in advance..

    Hello Ava
It is a pitty if you are possibly confronted with consultants who pretend to be the expert in their field.
Since copies of SAP certificates can be mocked up easily you may ask the consultant to come up with the original document. And if you still have any doubts do not hesitate to contact the SAP certification center for a confirmation.
