Sap license problem
Hi,
I cannot get SAP to allow me to login with anything other than sap*. I would like to use the "developer" account.
When I type saplicense -show I get the information below and it says "license usable." However, when I type saplicense -test developer, I get:
***Can not read profile parameter SAPSYSTEMNAME Start saplicense with -test pf=<profile>
I have tried NW4, LNX, nw4host, nw4adm as well as the profile and I get the same error. I think the problem is that the certification thinks the SAPSYSTEMNAME is LNX, where as SAPSYSTEMNAME is actually defined as NW4.
How do I resolve this?

I have already applied the SAPlicense through Visual Administrator.
start the Visual Administrator tool (usr\sap\SID\JC<xx>\j2ee\admin\go) and from there you can find the "Licensing Adapter" when you select correct server and "Services" underneath it.
But the problem is while executing the saplicense -show at OS level... i am getting below error..
qepadm> saplicense -show
SAPLICENSE (Release 701) ERROR ***
ERROR: Can not set DbSl trace function
DETAILS: DbSlControl(DBSL_CMD_IMP_FUNS_SET) failed with return code 20

After completed the EP 7.0 ((SAP EHP1 for SAP Netweaver 7.0) installation on Sunsolaries with Oracle 10g. I start with the license installation.
I manage to get the license ,but when i try to install the license into the server it show invalid.. i already key in everything correctly still invalid.

Dear All,
We have an issue with system number in our production system.
We have generated SAP license key for production during our SAP implimentations. But after that due to some major problem we have again reinstall SAP system and regenerate SAP License key. Now both the SAP License key has different system number. Old one license key we have deleted from SAP Supprt portal.
How can change the system number in my landscap as per the registered with SAP Support portal.
Can I delete existing license from my SAP System and reinstall latest downloded key ?

Yes, that is what you have to do now. If your installation number changed, then you will have to delete the old licenses first. Then you will be able to install the new license.

We continue to have problems requesting and installing the Permanent license for our NW Web AS 6.4 J2EE install. The software that was shipped to us is SAP NetWeaver 04 SR1 Oracle HP-UX, which is the Platform Database combination of our R3 system. However, we are installing the NW on a Windows 2003 platform with a SQL Server 2000 database. Having a different platform/ DB combination between NW and R3 shouldn't be that unusual, is it?
When I apply for the license I am forced to enter Oracle for my backend DB, otherwise if I enter a SQL Server I only receive a temporary license. So when I receive the permanent license and try to install it I get an error message 'The digital signature of the license key for product "J2EE-Engine_ORA" could not be verified. License key file d:\nw\licensekey\JTS_J2EE.txt does not contain any valid SAP license keys. License key(s) not completely installed'.
We have explained to the SAP reps that we are installing NW on a different platform/DB combination then our R3 set-up, but they continue to ship us the Oracle HP-UX combination.
How can we get past this licensing issue?We tried doing this once and SAP told us that we would have to pay for two licenses as with the license you are also paying for a runtime version of the database. We ended up going back to AIX for our portal.

We have just upgraded our SAP system from 4.6C to ECC6.0 and are now having problem trying to install SAP license.
The hardware key field is greyed out and we are not able to make any entry there and as a result, even if we can "import" the license, it is of no use.

Basically you can either perform at SAP ABAP level using SLICENSE or it's still possible to install license at OS level also.
If nothing works out, for now (until you find the fix) you even go with temporary license.

SAP license key error: no valid license found: cannot log into SAP GUI
I deleted temp license from slicense on SM box, since I had already installed new digital license from SAP. Well, later I tried to log in again and was locked out. After some research, I found "sap license check failed" in the log files, java will not come up, and the hardware key has changed on me, so the valid license that was active before is not showing up now.
I applied for a new license with new hardware key and attempted to install from cmd prompt, using saplicense -install ifile=c:license.txt, but it gets an error. I put a trace on it and appears it cannot read license file key. I also tried to install another temp license, but that failed since no other previous valid license was found. At this point, I'm thinking I need to manually insert the license key into the database, but not sure what table or exactly how. SAP has not provided a solution yet.
I believe the hardware key changed due to renaming the server (we took out a hyphen in name) and had also reinstalled afterwards.
Has anyone else run into this issue?Yes, I wish it were that simple, but I cannot even bring up the logon screen. SAP GUI returns a message, resource temporarily unavailable. I looked in SAP MMC syslog and found several entries, "SAP-Basis System: No license found for hardware ID DLIC_HWIDKE"

Why does BR*Tools return with the error, No Valid SAP license?
We are using BRTools 640 on HPUX and Oracle 9.2 Now we use BRTools on the other systems where Oracle resides, but when they got installed on this new system it creates the error: Invalid SAP license.
There is no SAP installed on any of the systems. I am coming into the middle of this and have sratched my head over it until I am now balder than I was before.
The ora<SID> user is there and so is the <SID>adm. The directories are ok with the correct rights and permissions. So what am I missing? I know it has to be something that I am missing. Any help out there?

No this did not resolve the issue. Here is what happen.
Implemented note 586618 and then completed the semophore part. That worked as is it should. Then tired a simple BRARCHIVE and this is what I got:

This is somewhat irritating because as you I though and you probably did also, note 584418 should have fixed it.
I have searched the OSS, but to no avail..so if you have any suggestions it would be appreciated. The really weird thing is it works on other systems. I think something is just missing and I am just too blind right now to see it.

New hard drive and photoshop license problem
I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 with a 1.5 Ghz Pentium processor, 2 GB of RAM, and Win Xp/Pro SP3.
The hard drive in this computer failed, and it has been replaced. I used an image backup from Acronis True Image 10 to "restore" the new disk.
Now, when I try to open Phostoshop CS2, I receive a message that the license is no longer valid (I have been using this version of Photoshop for a long time).
I don't have this problem with InDesign CS3 (v. 5.0.2), FrameMaker 7.2b144, or Acrobat 8.1.6.
I didn't find any helpful info on the "Product Activation" web page.
I tried a forum search and a search of Adobe.com using the search criteria "new hard drive and photoshop license problem."
The only relevant item I could find is this:
"Backup and restoration of your system using standard tools do not require reactivation. While reactivation after backing up or restoring the system was required in early versions of Adobe software (such as Adobe Photoshop® CS), Adobe has continued to improve the activation process with new technology that eliminates the need to reactivate after system restoration. In complex situations where the system is being upgraded, we recommend deactivating the Adobe software before commencing the system upgrade. Once the system upgrade is completed, the subsequent install/restore will require reactivation, which is typically accomplished without difficulty and is completely transparent to the user."
So does that mean I have to "reactivate" Photoshop CS2? If so, do I use the Activation window that is displayed when I open Photoshop? The serial number has 20 characters. Will the Adobe (re)activation recognize this old serial number? If not, what do I have to do to get this product usable again?

Interesting... I use http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image-for-linux.htm which creates a bootable CD and runs outside of Windoze
I have made image files and loaded those files to a new hard drive (I use drive swap hardware to make a backup and create a new drive every time I install or uninstall major software) and have never had any program complain about needing activation
But, since the program I use is Linux on a bootable CD, it copies EVERYTHING on a hard drive, even the hidden registration areas as far as I can tell, so when I do a restore to a new drive, everything is put on the new drive -
License Problem in Abap+java stack

I have installed my SAP XI/PI System with ABAP+JAVA Stack.
I have applied SAP license at ABAP Stack using slicense for web as abap+java, so is there any need to apply license again for java stack, because when i am checking in Visual Admin under license node , it is showing license is not installed.
If it is not required then why it is showing in Visual Admin tool that license is not installed. can some one give me guidance on this issue.

No restart will not make any difference.
You can overlook this. If in the /nslicense screen you see a permanent license, then no need to worry furthur..
Also in the system info page , you will see:
Software Product :Days Until Expiry

Read SAP table data outside of SAP, without a SAP license

I have been asked to allow people within my company to directly access vendor information, but of course they don't want to purchase a SAP license.
Yes, yes, I know that directly reading from SAP tables at the Oracle database level is generally frowned upon.
I can envision creating an external application that presents the user with a screen of searchable fields, uses these fields to create SQL for the oracle tables LFA1, LFB1, ADRC, and ADR6, and returns a report of vendors that match the selection criteria. The report could have drill down capability to give additional detail per vendor This application would be executed with a user that has read only table access to the aforementioned tables.
I just started to use the Oracle tool SQL Developer for a project that has nothing to do with SAP and that gave me the idea I described in the previous paragraph.
Is anyone doing something like this? Or what other methods are being used to allow on demand access to SAP tables, without a SAP license .
We are using SAP Enterprise Edition version 4.7and Basis 620.

You can use an RFC to extract data from SAP.
Depending on the language you can extract data, for example if it is on .NET, you can use the .Net SAP conector, and create a RFC function on SAP, that returns the data you need.
To extract the data you will need a valid SAP user and password.

Did you migrate over the data from your old computer? If so, there's probably something you brought over that knows it's not on the same hardware as before. In that case you need to run this:

and then go around and manually remove all the bits and bobs, not just from applications but also from hard drive>library>application support>adobe and from your username>library>preferences. Spotlight will not help you. You have to go looking on your own.

I had time fixed license which works fine ..
and then I got an update for the license ..
and merged the old and the new license with
the updateLicensefile.sh script ..
But when I start a container with > startWebLogic.sh
I got WebLogic: license has expired on Thu Sep 13 12:00:00 CEST 2001!
. and he seems not recognize the new license ..
So I tried to check which parts are missing ..
Expried is Connector, QASuite .. do I need them ?
For WebLogic, "SSL/Export, 2PC, In-memory Replication - Servlet,
In-memory Replication - EJB. EJB 1.1, EJB 2.0, JMS, Cluster,

The java weblogic.Admin LICENSES utility lists the license that the server
is using.
If you had multiple licenses and did not know which one was being picked
this utility will help you.

Regarding the documentation error can you paste the url where you found the
error. I will make sure I inform the person responsible for that.
Regarding the information returned by the license utility I will follow up
with Engineering to check if it would be possible to change the format

Usually the SAP Licenses are with respect to named users and their rights to the system....
If you have N licences of various types and M employees accessing SAp ( M > N ) then it will be an issue .. usually for services like ESS - you have a licence called employee user and for more access you have professional licenses etc...
You could check the type of licenses that the company has and the number of licenses of each type and also the Contract signed with SAP as to the licensing policy..

I would like to make everyone aware of an issue with RDS and the FIX from Microsoft services which I consider unacceptable.
The setup is as follows. One 2012 DC with Terminal server licensing installed. Two 2012 servers with RDS enabled. Take note that RDS was NOT deployed using the wizard as there is no need
for all of the resources of a server farm for 2 servers. On each of the RDS enabled servers, group policey was used to enable and specify the RDS server and licensing mode. The RD Licensing Diagnoser was used to verify, and report that no licensing
problems for the Remote Desktop Session Host Server existed, and the tray icon that reports that you are running a trial version of RDS does NOT appear.
Advance forward a few months and users start reporting that they cannot login and that they are receiving “The remote session was disconnected because there are no RDS license servers available
to provide a license."
After doing all that I could I filed a case with Microsoft Support at the Highest Level Possible. After a month I finally was able to talk to someone. After 2 more weeks, here is the solution
they gave me….
Open the registry, Navigate to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\RCM
Delete the GracePeriod Key
Reboot
This continues to occur every few months. I wish someone at MS would FIX the problem.

i have 5x 2012 RDS farms, nearly identical in configuration dispersed throughout the globe, each farm has:
2x RDSH
1x RDCB, RDWeb, RDLicense server with 2012 CALs deployed as User Mode
We are pointing directly to the license server in our collection settings (only 1 collection per farm) and also again via GPO settings to override license server auto discovery options
These systems were rolled out using scenario-based installs so while RDWeb is there, it's not actually being used (nothing published to it), users are leveraging session-based desktops via RDP client both internally and externally
systems are all domain joined, we're still on 2003 functional level in AD
i first encountered this issue around the 120 days mark after the first farm went into production, we saw that users could not login and event ID 1130 was being thrown for every login attempt.
i saw this article and followed the steps to resolve it:

however, after another 120 days passed, i ran into the same issue again, realizing this was not a permanent fix. after just opening the case with MS on this a couple of weeks ago, they've told me it's a bug and so for now, i proactively purge the
L$RTMTIMEBOMB_nnnn key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\RCM\GracePeriod, i restart
TermService so i don't have to reboot the whole box and it's fine for another 120 days
during the issue and even when it's not occurring, licensing diagnostics come up clean, i haven't taken a report while the issue is occurring but when it's not occurring the reports show CALs being assigned to all users by the license server.
basically, it seems like even though we have a license server that is activated with user CALs, the Review section shows green checks under both sections, and reporting is fine - the system is stuck in 120 day trial mode for some reason.
now MS did say they know about this and they're working on a fix, hopefully not to just get me off the phone, but they didn't have a different workaround and advised that i continue doing what i'm doing.
what i don't really understand is that when i remove the L$RTMTIMEBOMB_nnnn
key from the registry, it gets recreated upon the first user logon that has to go talk to the license server. in a working 2012 environment, should this key even exist if an active license server is already available? -
SAP License Key configuration procedure in Web AS(J2EE)

We installed Web AS 6.4 (J2ee). It is running on temporary license and going to expire in one week time. I applied for license key and got the permanent license key as a text file attachment through email. It is a simple text file containing the license key, system NR and etc. I saved that text file into my machine.
I tried to configure that license file into Web AS using visual administrator.
Server 0 --> Services --> Licensing Adapter --> Install License from file
I selected the text file which was sent by SAP to my mail.
It is giving error like
License file C:\(license file name).txt contains an incorrect SAP license key: Header or empty line expected.
License key(s) not completely installed.
I don't know what to do now. I think we can do through this through cmd. But I don't know how to do that.
Shall I delete the temporary license? Will the system allow me to enter the value manually.
Can any one guide me on this?

But still getting the error.
Do I need to set dbms_type in environment variables? I don't know it's value. My db is MS SQL DB.
