SAP Open Hub Vs SAP JCO for Extraction

Hi,
I would like to clarify for SAP JCO connectivity from some third party tool to SAP BW Server in compare to open hub:
We want to connect our internal third party tool to SAP BW/BI server by using Java technology through SAP defined JCO. Later we will create RFC and BAPIs at SAP BW server for data extraction. Those defined BAPIs and RFCs we would call from my java programs.
In such kind of scenario we can extract metadata as well as data for all defined data targets (InfoCube/ODS/DSO/InfoObject) and also can make otherdata load scheduling program to extract data and store it at my non-SAP application.
As per my understanding since we are using SAP provided JCO so there won't be any issue of license for the same. And Open hub require license if it is used to extract and send data from data targets to third party tools.
Can someone confirm for license out of above mentioned cases when exactly it would be required. Mainly I would like to know if we doun't use SAP provided JCO for connectivity and data exttraction then license woould be required or not?
You speedy response would be highly appreciatted.

Vivek

    Hi Paleri,
    According to the
thread which has the same error message, the issue may be caused by incorrect RCF settings. Could you double check your RCF connection configurations such as DNS settings?
If it is not the case, please also make sure you have installed the correct version of Microsoft Connector for SAP BW.

  • Open Hub Destination - SAP CRM

    Hi,
We would like to transfer bulk data from SAP BI (Data Store Object) into SAP CRM. Performance of APD has been very poor. As an alternative, we are checking the feasibility of using InfoSpoke/Open Hub service to transfer data from data store object to ADS (analytical data store i.e. custom table in CRM).
Has any one tried this before?
Can we use remote database (i.e. not SAP BI) in open hub destination?
Any help will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi ,
Yes I have used Info Spoke/Open Hub service to transfer data from my SAP BI to other Sap system.
We have a process chain which has start node and 3 parallel node extracting data from 3 different ODS.
All 3 nodes are connected to a AND node , after then there is a programmer  (Unix script) which has does FTP, Abap program can also be used for this.
While doing FTP , give destination address CRM system.
I am sure this will work.

  • Omit the Open Hub control file 'S_*' for flat file extracts

    Hi Folks,
a quick question is it somehow possible to omit the control file generation for flat file extracts.
We got some unix scripts running that get confused by the S_* files and we where wondering if we can switch the creation of those files off.
    Thanks and best regards,
    Axel

    Hi,
However, the S_ (structure) file does not reflect the proper structure. The S_ file lists all fields sorted in alphabetical order based on the field name, instead of listing all fields in the correct order that they appear in the output file.
As I know and checked this is not the case. The S_ file has the fields in the order of infospoke object sequence ( and in transformation tab, source structure).
I would suggest you to control it again.

  • Open hub - fixed width

    Dear all,
I'm trying to create an open hub flat file with fixed width (file should be ";" seperated but also fixed width).  Nevertheless I have a problem with adding trailing spaces.
Does anyone know if/how this can be done?
    thanks,
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
As far as I know Open Hub (InfoSpoke) is used for extracting the data to file or... and it's dependent on the type of data ( or data type) you have in Objects.
But if you want any further modification in the file try to write a separate ABAP code for reading and than modifying file as per your requirement.
    Hope this helps!!

  • Hierarchy Extraction using Open hub Destination

    Hi,
I need to extract hierarchy data for Application code(YAPPLCD) using OHD. In the Hierarchy there are 4 components(Industry, Market, Application Group and Application Code). i need to get all the 3 details for the Application Code(i.e to which Indusrty does it belong, Market and Application Group). But HIerarchy table is having one record for each apllication code, Market, Application Group, Application code.
How to get relevant data for the application code?
    My file format should be:
    Appl.Code | Appl.Group | Market | Industry.

    Hi Suma...
The SAP Open Hub service enables you to distribute data from an SAP BI/BW system into external data marts, analytical applications, and other applications. With this, you can ensure controlled distribution using several systems. The central object for the export of data is the InfoSpoke. Using this, you can define the object from which the data comes and into which target it is transferred, leveraging SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) as the transfer/transform mechanism.
SAP BI objects such as InfoCubes, ODS objects, or InfoObjects can act as open hub data sources. You can select database tables or flat files as open hub destinations, and then use those destinations as actual sources within SSIS.  To automate the extraction using SAPu2019s Open Hub Service, youu2019ll need to setup a process chain. Note that both a full and delta modes are also available as the extraction mode.
As stated already with direct extraction from SAP R/3, once data is extracted out of SAP NetWeaver® BI (SAP BW), the destination of that data could be any relational database (such as SQL Server), and then reports (from SSRS) and multi-dimensional cubes (from SSAS) can be created from that database data.  The resulting SQL Server reports/cubes could then be used within the Microsoft Business Intelligence delivery mechanisms, such as through Excel, SharePoint, PerformancePoint, etc.

  • DTP Delta request for open hub destination.

    Hi expert,
As you know, In BW 7.0, open hub destination is used for open hub service, and you can create tranformation/DTP for the destination. and in some case the DTP delta is enabled.
    my questions are
    1) in the context menu of open hub destination, I did not find something like manage, which could list all the DTP request executed for this open hub destination..but for normal infocube or ods, you can find a list.
    2) if the DTP could enable the delta, where can I delete the latest delta request, and have a new load..
    3) I assume the DTP could be excuted with batch integrated with process chain by process type 'DTP', right ? if the destination type is third party tool, can it also be integrated with process chain ?
    4) can give some obvious difference of InfoSpoke and open hub destination in terms of advantage and disadvantage..
Thanks a lot for the feedback.
    Best Regards,

  • Issue for DTP from DSO to open hub destination

    Hello Gurus,
I have a issue for DTP from DSO to open hub destination, long text for error in the monitor is as follows:
              " Could not open file
    SAPBITFS\tst_bi\bit\BIWork\GENLGR_OneTimeVendr_2 on application server"
" Error while updating to target ZFIGLH03 (type Open Hub Destination)     "
for open hub destination, I check the configure for logical file name , which is "
    SAPBITFS\tst_bi\bit\BIWork\GENLGR_OneTimeVendr",
I am wondering where that file "
SAPBITFS\tst_bi\bit\BIWork\GENLGR_OneTimeVendr_2" in the error message comes from?
    Many thanks,

    Hi
You do not need to create a file in application server. It will be created automatically.
But if you have defined a logical file name in tcode FILE and used that in OHD and if it is not correct then it will show a conflict. Check this out.

  • Open Hub Destination to Informatica

    HI All,
I am having the following issue. We have created Open Hub Destination on InfoCube for Third Party (Informatica). But the target table is not visible in Informatica. They were able to view if created using InfoSpokes and able to extract using InfoSpokes. But when we use Open Hub Destination, they are not able to view them. We verified the RFC connection. Also triggered DTP for Open Hub Destination and it is sending data to the target teable structure.
Please help me in this regard
    Regards
    YR

Did you use Informatica's SAP Connector? It is a add-on and licese has to be purchased from Informatica. this will help to load delta and continuous daily load from SAP BI to target system with Informatica as ETL. InfoSpoke is a .csv file that created in a particuar folder thus Informatica able to see it.
    Thanks,

  • Open Hub Vs Infospoke

    Hi All,
In BW 7 We are using Open Hub & previously using Infospoke in BW 3.5. My question is in infospoke we have the flexibility of using BADI but in Open Hub we dont have that option. can we still use infospoke instead of Open HUB. Are there any advantages of open hub over infospoke.
    Thanks,
    Kiran.

    Hi,
The open hub service enables you to distribute data from an SAP BW system into external data marts, analytical applications, and other applications. With this, you can ensure controlled distribution using several systems. The central object for the export of data is the InfoSpoke. Using this, you can define the object from which the data comes and into which target it is transferred.
Through the open hub service, SAP BW becomes a hub of an enterprise data warehouse. The distribution of data becomes clear through central monitoring from the distribution status in the BW system.
    Functions
BW objects such as InfoCubes, ODS objects, or InfoObjects (attributes or texts) can act as open hub data sources. You can select database tables or flat files as open hub destinations. Both a full and a delta mode are also available as the extraction mode.
Components of the Open Hub Service
The open hub service is made up of the following objects:
    InfoSpoke
The central object for the data export is the InfoSpoke.
    The InfoSpoke defines the following:
u2022 The open hub data source from which the data is extracted
    u2022 The extraction mode
u2022 The open hub destination into which the data is delivered.
In addition, you can also select which data selection is to be extracted from which InfoProviders. This selection ensures that a destination for different points in time from the same InfoProvider can be supplied with data for different selection criteria using a delta. The selection set is freely configurable as long as extraction has not taken place in the delta mode. Once it has, this no longer applies.
    Open Hub Data Source
BW objects such as InfoCubes, ODS objects, MultiProviders and MultiProviders and InfoObjects (attributes or texts) can function as open hub data sources. If you use an InfoCube with non-cumulative key figures as a data source, refer to the note regarding the settings on the Selection tab page in Creating InfoSpokes.
    Extraction Mode
An InfoSpoke can extract data in two ways: in full mode (F) and in delta mode (D). See InfoSpoke Extraction Mode.
    Open Hub Destination
Database tables (from the database in the BW system) and flat files (CSV) can act as open hub destinations. See also Extraction to Database Tables and Extraction to Flat Files. You can extract the data from a database to a non-SAP system using APIs with a third-party tool. See also Extraction to Non-SAP Systems.
The open hub destination includes all information about a target system for the InfoProvider data: type of destination, name of the flat file or the database table. It also contains a logical target system. The logical target system is used to structure the individual open hub destinations in the open hub monitor. The open hub monitor groups the requests according to logical target system, open hub destination and InfoSpoke. By specifying a logical target system, you get a better overview of the individual open hub requests.

    Hi Priya,
Open Hub   scenario  means...  we need to retrive the BW system data to  external system.. see for example..., we extracted the data into external system for further processing like <b>merging the datasets</b> from other non-SAP systems, business validations etc.). Then, the final dataset is loaded into BW.
The Open Hub service enables the extraction of data from a SAP BW system into external data marts, analytical applications, and other applications. This ensure controlled. hello Friends,
Can you please tell me what is the use of open hub service ?
As i believe that it is sending a data to flat file ? BUT even though we can also directly send a data through export datasource.

    Hi All,
I am working on BI 7.0 and am currently working on Open Hub. I have to extract data from a cost center infocube, but i also need to send the master text data for certain fields along with the infocube data into the file server.
Is this possible with open hub services, could someone please provide me with a step by step procedure to this one.

    Hi Uppala,
Following are 2 approaches to achieve this
    Approach 1:
    1. Create info spoke which will extract data from cube to data base table (do not use file)
    2. Create one more info spoke which will extract master data text to data base table (again do not use file)
    3. Create join on both the data base tables.
    4. Write a ABAP program which will create a file based on the joins of tables.
    Approach 2 :
    1. Create multiprovider on cube and master data info object
    2. Create info spoke based on the multi provider, that will extract data to flat file
For 2nd approach u have to put certain filters to avoid unwanted rows
