SAP R/3 - J2EE Application interface using XI

Hi,
We have a Portal Application based on WebDynpro Java. The model being used is BAPI's written in SAP HR.
There is another Portal Application based on J2EE. (Non SAP) The requirement is to use the same BAPI's to pass the data to the J2EE screens.
SAP XI needs to be used to create the SAP R/3-J2EE interfaces. Could some one advise me how to proceed on this scenario? Which Adapter needs to be used in this case?
Thanks & Regards,
Shobhit

Hi,
one option can be:
<i>SAP XI needs to be used to create the SAP R/3-J2EE interfaces. Could some one advise me how to proceed on this scenario? Which Adapter needs to be used in this case?</i>
SAP R/3SAP XI-J2EE application
Here if you are using BAPI from R/3 then you can use RFC adapter between SAP R/3 and SAP XI.
For SAP XI and J2EE application you can use Java proxies.
Here is how you write your Java proxy:

  • Obtaining SAP User information from J2EE Application

    Hi All,
    I am using SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio to create a J2EE Application, which requires accessing user information from SAP coming from Windows Active Directory.
    My question is as follows;
    Is there a possibility in a J2EE application to use an API to obtain user information (ie. from com.sap.security.api.jar) just like in a regular WebDyn Pro Application?
    For Archive Build Info (compile time), do I need to import specific JARs? For runtime, do I need to load any project reference?
    Thanks in advance,
    Michael

    Yes, I have added 'Run time' as well as 'Build time' for the com.sap.security.api.sda DC as well as for com.sap.tc.Logging DC.
    I have also added the following references to application-j2ee-engine.xml file:
    <application-j2ee-engine>
         <reference
              reference-type="hard">
              <reference-target
                   provider-name="sap.com"
                   target-type="library">com.sap.security.api.sda</reference-target>
         </reference>
         <reference
              reference-type="hard">
              <reference-target
                   provider-name="sap.com"
                   target-type="library">com.sap.tc.Logging</reference-target>
         </reference>
         <provider-name>srl.com</provider-name>
         <fail-over-enable
              mode="disable"/>
    </application-j2ee-engine>
    I am still experiencing the same problem:
    java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sap/tc/logging/Location
         at com.sap.security.api.UMFactory.<clinit>(UMFactory.java:178)
         at srl.com.birthday.daemon.BirthdaysDaemon.loadEmployeesUser(BirthdaysDaemon.java:114)
         at srl.com.birthday.daemon.BirthdaysDaemon.run(BirthdaysDaemon.java:72)
         at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:534)
    Is there any other JAR I forgot to add to my used DC? Is the security JAR dependant on something else?
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • Portal User details and credentials for a J2EE application?

    Hi,
    I am trying to access a J2EE application which is deployed in  SAP Web Application Server. I want to maintain the security of this application depending the portal user. So I want to get the user id of the portal login to my J2EE application. For Example:
    A user with id "super" is logging into portal I want the userid "super" in my J2EE application how to get the userid to my J2EE application's servlet. Is this possible? If possible please tell how I can acheive it?
    Can I do it by creating HTTP System? If possible can u tell me where can I set the URL?
    Thanks,
    Ashok.

    hi,
    Certainly you can get the user id of the portal login in your J2EE application by using UME api's
    IUserFactory userFact = UMFactory.getUserFactory();
    getUserFactory().getUser(String uniqueID)
    getUserFactory().getUserByLogonID(String logonID)
    Also have a look at this
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/15/abdc3ed98f7650e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
    Instead  of url iview, it would be better to use AppIntegrator
    Also have a look at this
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/events/webinars/using the user management api with ep applications.pdf

  • Difference of J2EE Applications

    what is the difference between J2EE applications developed using WAS and other Application server.
    Is the Netweaver Web Application Server mainly used for developing J2EE Applications

    Hi,
    There are many Web Application server that are available in the market. Each of them try to focus on Specific Customers.
    Lets take simple example SAP's NetWeaver. SAP has got its own Application Server called the WAS6.0, 6.2 and now 6.4. These type of servers are suitable to run any SAP developed applications. If we use them to run any other middleware products we might need extra plugins.
    J2EE applications can be developed using WebSphere Studio, WebLogic, Jbuilder, JBoss, Netweaver Studio and many more available studios. They are all based on Eclipse- which is an Open Source IDE. Every Big firm used the common IDE and added it's own components to support thier own applications.
    So J2EE applications that you develop will be the same But you have to add extra plugins in the form of Jar files.

  • Is it possible to refresh the client from serverside in j2ee application

    Hello
    Is it possible to refreshh the client from server side in j2ee Application server using JMS technology,
    If you know about it plz. mail me on [email protected] Or plz. reply me over here.
    Thank you

    You can either use server push or client pull.
    Server push:
    Server push the changes to client on every certain time interval.
    You can make client to subscribe for JMS topic created on server side. Every certain interval, server needs to publish a message and JMS will distribute all the message to the subscribers (clients)
    Client pull:
    Each client request/inquiry the changes from server on every certain time interval.
    You can't use JMS (you can but you must use P2P (queue), which is not recommended in this case).
    You can make the client to post HTTP request to get the latest data from server on every certain time interval.

  • SSO to J2EE application from SAP Portal

    Hi
    I am trying to do SSO from SAP Portal to a J2EE engine which runs on SAP Web AS.
    Here are my queries
    1. When I deploy a J2EE application on Web AS , I dont get any login screen. How can I make sure that if a user wants to access this J2EE application he should get a login screen and provide his login credentials first, only then would he be able to access the J2EE application.
    2.When I am done with Part 1. If a user tries to access this J2EE application from the Portal (asuming the user Id's in Portal and J2EE application are same and both are in the same domain) , I should not get any login screen and should be able to view the J2EE application.
    3.I want to use SAP Logon tickets generated by the Portal to enable SSO.
    I have done all the necessary configurations in the J2EE server.
    1. Imported the Portal's verify.der certificate.
    2. Adjusted the login modules stack for the application accordingly.
    Can anyone please help me out with this or throw some light.
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Vivek
    PS - Points will be definitely rewarded

    Hi Vivek,
    Let me give you the solution for both questions differently.
    <b>Ques 1. When I deploy a J2EE application on Web AS , I dont get any login screen. How can I make sure that if a user wants to access this J2EE application he should get a login screen and provide his login credentials first, only then would he be able to access the J2EE application.</b>
    <b>Ans:</b> For doing this in the code of your J2EE application you have to write a if statement which will check if the user ID is coming from the backend or not. If yes then you display that logon page else you just pass that username which is coming from backend and displ;ay the page accordingly.
    <b>Ques 2.When I am done with Part 1. If a user tries to access this J2EE application from the Portal (asuming the user Id's in Portal and J2EE application are same and both are in the same domain) , I should not get any login screen and should be able to view the J2EE application.</b>
    <b>Ans:</b> Yes, this is what I am explaining you. Even I had also made same kind of J2EE application in which if the user is coming from the backend then he/she will look the J2EE screen else if the username is not coming then he will se the Login screen. Exactly same as what are looking for.
    <b>3.I want to use SAP Logon tickets generated by the Portal to enable SSO.</b>
    <b>Ans:</b> I have used User Mapping instead of SAP Logon ticket. Well that is also the option for SSO but personally I think User Mapping is easy and better way for implementing SSO.
    I dont know whether this will help you or not. Please let me know. I can definately help if you want to implement SSO using User Maping.

  • How to use KM APIs, Can we use them in Standalone J2ee Application

    Hi Experts,
    I got KM APIs.
    I need to use them to access the KM Repository Content.
    I m a newbie in SAP KM.
    Can anyone help me to use KM APIs.
    For Eg:
    com.sapportals.portal.security.usermanagement.IUser user = …
    IResourceContext resourceContext = new ResourceContext(user);
    RID rid = RID.getRID("/etc");
    try {
      IResource resource = ResourceFactory.getInstance()
                           .getResource(rid, resourceContext);
      if( resource != null ) {
        // resource found
        System.out.println("resource " + resource.getRID() + " found");
      } else {
        // resource not found
        System.out.println("resource " + resource.getRID() + " does not exist");
    catch( ResourceException e ) {
      // problem while retrieving the resource
      System.out.println(
                        "exception while trying to get resource " + e.getRID()
                        + ": " + e.getMessage()
    How will i get the IUser populated?
    Can i use KM APIs from a standalone J2EE application?
    Can i Populate IUser in standalone J2EE application's Servlet?
    Please help me out.

    Hi Prem,
    Can u tell me how to deploy a war file on to the SAP J2EE server?
    I know how to deploy on Tomcat Server, but dont have any experience abt SAP J2EE server.
    Does SAP J2EE server also have some Webapp directory like TOMCAT where we have to put our WAR File?
    Or to Deploy a WAR File in SAP J2EE server is different, if yes then wats the procedure to do that?
    And can i access the KM APIs in SAP J2EE Server?

  • Using Web Dynpro WDUrlGenerator from within J2EE Application deployed on NW

    I have two applications deployed on a NetWeaver Application Server 2004s.
    1. A Web Dynpro application.
    2. A J2EE Application
    What I want to do is to be able to build a url to the Web Dynpro application from within the J2EE application. Obviously the problem is using Web Dynpro classes within the J2EE application.
    So I edited the Java Build Path of the J2EE application to include the werbdynproservices.jar file and exception.jar files by extending ECLIPSE_HOME variable in the libraries section. I also checked them in Order and Export. I verified the built .war file and it does contain the two .jar files.
    This was sufficient to get my project build and deployed, however the servlet in my J2EE application shows NoClassDefFoundException when I run it. My guess is there's more I need to do to get the WDUrlGenerator to run in my J2EE class.
    Is this possible or is there a better way? I am trying to avoid the client having to modify a web.xml for each depployment.
    Thanks in Advance.

    This looks like what I want, but I am unable to test it.
    I found the application-j2ee-engine.xml file under the <project-root>/gen_wdp folder. I then attempted to open it with the SAP EARDD editor. It opens with the Source tab selected. If I try to click the General tab I get an error saying:
    "The source page has errors. Other pages cannot be used until these erros are corrected."
    I see nothing wrong with the XML document. It's source is here:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <application-j2ee-engine>
        <provider-name>local</provider-name>
        <modules-additional>
        <module>
          <entry-name>EVENTS_WorkflowNotification.wda</entry-name>
          <container-type>webdynpro</container-type>
        </module>
      </modules-additional>
    </application-j2ee-engine>
    When I deploy the application, everything works fine. I was going to edit the XML document by hand, but of course there is no DTD listed so I don't know what's supposed to go in there without the Editor doing it for me.
    Getting closer. Thanks so much.

  • Adding an External Application that uses J2EE Form Based Security

    I'm trying to add an External application that uses the J2EE Form based security. i.e. uses j_username, j_password and posts to j_security_check.
    I don't really see how Oracle SSO will support this. The container needs to take control of a clients request and determines when the "Login" page is presented to establish credentials. Posting directly to j_security_check isn't working for me.
    I'm using Sybase EAServer 4.12 as the external application.
    Is this supported in Oracle SSO?
    Do I need to provide a different mechanism for logging user's in?
    Also, can someone explain what the benefit would be if I configured the EAServer app as a "Partner" app? I would still have to provide an interface for login. The input would be different but the end result would be the same I guess. What advantages does a Partner app have?
    Lastly, is there an NNTP server for these forums?
    Thanks.

    The cure for the symtops described below was to simply add a welcome-file-list
    element with appropriate welcome pages to the web.xml descriptor. It makes sense
    now that I have worked it out.

    Also, does anyone know of a way of preventing the user from bookmarking
    this container

    If they

    Hi Ganesh,
    It seems. It can be any one of the following
    1) Check the JDK Path
    2) Check the JNDI name
    3) Check the package structure
    4) Check the client file name and other files naming convention
    Hope it will resolve your problem

  • How to get web application to use Tuscany without conflicting with SAP SDO

    Hi,
    We are attempting to run a web application on SAP NetWeaver CE 7.1 SP1 which uses Tuscany SDO.  As it now stands We must use Tuscany because the web application will not run with the SAP SDO implementation provided by Netweaver. To ensure that Tuscany is loaded with priority, we have packaged the Tuscany JAR files and their dependencies as a heavy resource, as described here:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/60642a88-95fe-2b10-d387-a245d48fc257?overridelayout=true
    The final check showed that Tuscany was correctly deployed as a heavy resource and included the following JAR files:
    common-2.2.3.jar
    ecore-2.2.3.jar
    ecore-change-2.2.3.jar
    ecore-xmi-2.2.3.jar
    tuscany-sdo-impl-1.1.1.jar
    tuscany-sdo-lib-1.1.1.jar
    tuscany-sdo-tools-1.1.1.jar
    xsd-2.2.3.jar
    We also verified that the web application using Tuscany has a hard reference to the Tuscany heavy resource.
    However, when we try to run the web application, the following error is logged:  java.lang.LinkageError: Class commonj/sdo/DataGraph violates loader constraints
    The issue is definitely due to some kind of classloading conflict with the SAP SDO library, as the application runs normally when SAP SDO is manually removed from the classpath. Doing this on a production system is unfortunately not an option, though.
    So the question is: how to get web application to use Tuscany without conflicting with SAP SDO?

    I took a look at the "printerReady" example.  Looks like I may be able to use the InetPing (...) function to ping through a range of IP addresses looking for a response.
    Any ideas on how to find the MAC address associated with the IP addresses that respond?
    We may have multiple units responding and the MAC address will allow the operator to determing which unit to connect to.
    I'll try the InetPing to see how it works,

Can someone help me ?The desired behavior you desribed may not be possible with that application. In general LabVIEW does not offer a window object that other standalone applications can run it. The closest thing is the ActiveX container. If the programmers for your application created an activeX control of your program and they provided documentation, it should be pretty easy to incorperate the app and labview into one window. I recommend contacting the manufacuturer of the app to see if they have an activeX control version of the app.
