SAP R/3 Transports : How to handle long pending transports ?

How to stop active transport process?
Hi.
Generally we transport only one TR at a time.
If we find that any transport is stuck for any reason.
How do we resolve this.
When we tried to delete the Long pending transport entry, it says, long text not found.
The problem is, we started one transport. It got stuck for more than 30 min.
and when we tried to delete the entry it was giving some error of long text not found.
We tried to start another. And it also got stuck.
How do we really handle such issues of transports.
Though, one could say, restart of server, is the only option because there is nothing much can be done when the transport is done, one at a time, as a practice.
Can sap not handle requests - one by one, even if the practice is to transport one TR at a time .
Why is the system getting confused and blocks further transport requests too.
Can anyone advise.
Thanks

  • How to Handle Long running alerts in process chain...Urgent!!!

    Hi All,
I am trying to find ways for handling long running alerts in process chains.
I need to be sending out mails if the processes are running for longer than a threshold value.
    I did check this post:

    Hi Ravi,
Thanks for your reply. I do know that i will need a custom program.
I need to be sending out mails when there is a failure and also when process are running longer than a threshold.
Please do forward any code you have for such a custom program.

  • How to handle long Waits in BPEL?

    Hi,
We are having a requirement to include a wait of 30 mins in BPEL process. But if this is done, the calling process will time out.
How do we handle such long waits? If we increase the transaction time out period to 30 min, will it be a performance issue?

    Hi,
I need to call a external process that could take along time to be resolved. Basically this external process could require human procesess.
When I call the external process, this one decides if the BPELProces must wait for a future response or could continue without wait.
Some one has a BPEL example for this kind of process ?
This an example of my process (The search step is complex process to evaluate and I could not call twice to the external process (cost issues))
    1. BPEL calls external process
    2. external process searchs into the stock for the required product
2.1 if the required product exists then the external process wait for a human task to be resolved into its internal WorkFlow application. Then BPEL must wait for the future answer
2.2 if the required product does not exist then the external Process response to BPEL with No-Stock
    Thanks In Advanced

  • How to handle long lines in a JAD file?

    Hi all,
setting MIDlet permissions in a JAD file easily expands the length of one line so that they need to get wrapped into 2 or more lines. AFAIK JADs actually are manifest files and the manifest file spec says that a line continuation is marked by a line beginning with a single space. I use Ant to create the JAD file and Ant's manifest task does it exactly like this. Example:
    MIDlet-Permissions: javax.microedition.io.Connector.bluetooth.client,j
avax.microedition.io.Connector.socketThis works on my Sony Ericsson phone and in the MicroEmu emulator, but the WTK (2.5.2) emulator complains about that by throwing an exception:
    com.sun.midp.midletsuite.InvalidJadException: Reason = 28
         at com.sun.midp.midletsuite.JadProperties.partialLoad(+259)
         at com.sun.midp.midletsuite.JadProperties.load(+8)
         at com.sun.midp.dev.DevMIDletSuiteImpl.create(+252)
         at com.sun.midp.dev.DevMIDletSuiteImpl.create(+74)
         at com.sun.midp.main.Main.runLocalClass(+20)
at com.sun.midp.main.Main.main(+80)So who is wrong here?
    Thanks for some information!
    Best regards,
    Brian

    MIDlet-Permissions: javax.microedition.io.Connector.bluetooth.client,j
avax.microedition.io.Connector.socketif memory serves, inability to handle stuff like above is a known WTK bug.
Try workarounds like "glueing" permissions into single (long) line or splitting them on commas

  • How to handle long running Processes in J2EE

    Hi all,
we want to design something like a process engine on our application server. It should be possible to start processes asynchronous, so we think what we need is a message driven bean to start processes.
The problem is that there are different states while running the process and it should be possibe to request the current state at the running process. But how we get access to the process after its once started over the stateless message driven bean?
I hope you can understand the problem and maybe have a solution.
    Thanks & regards
    Rene G.

You are totally right, but i think my problem is not to design a good software application, my problem is to design this in j2ee. I have not so much j2ee experience in this way. Normally to solve this problem i would think about something like a container which contains one thread for each process. But i read that it is forbidden in j2ee to have your own thread management, so this seems to be a bad solution in j2ee, not at all.
I hope you understand me a little better now and i hope you don't think that i only want to utilize your knowledge to have less work by myself. I think this is a kind of j2ee specific question, which can be ask in a forum like this, isn't it?
    Thanks & regards

  • How to tackle long processing threads ?

    Hi All,
I have a requirement where it will take couple of minutes to complete a process. Well, I made that method to be "synchronized" so that none of the other threads can do anything(since all other activities are dependant on this thread, the others have to wait till this important threads completes it's process).
Now the problem is that other threads goes into problem and all of them are in MW(monitor wait) state and sometime kills/hangs the wls-instance. We are using wls6.1+sp2.
please suggest me with some example for how to tackle these kind of problems.
    -sangita

What is this process doing?this process gets some information from an external DB source. Basically, it does some search on a given field. We can't do anything with this DB resource as we don't have any hold on this, some legacy old crap.
All we need to do is to handle this long runnig process through java. could you please suggest how to handle long processes, intelligently ?
Thanks for your time on this.

  • How to handle returned products originally issued out using Transport Order

    Dear Experts
I transfer a batch containing 10 cartons from production plant NDE1 to sales plant NDE2 within same company code using a stock transport order.
Each carton is valued at 1dollar each, that is total value of transfered stock is $10
After two weeks, 3 cartons went bad and needs to be returned to production plant NDE1.
How do I capture this return process in SAP?
If it were an outright sales to a customer, a Return Order with reference to the invoive will be created, return delivery done,PGI done which brings the returned stock into inventory, and a credit memo posted against the original billing.
How do I handle my 3 cartons of returned stock since it was given out using a transport order?
What will the accounting entries be in the system? i mean which accounts will be credited and debited by the $3 value of th ereturned three cartons?

It depends how you handle the stock .Your accounting document generated in NDE2  in plant only.
The first step you transfered the material through sto from NDE1 to NDE2 ,here there is no impact on accounting entries as you are transffering the stock with in company code.
After you get return stock from customer NDE2 you can directly scrap or after inspecction of the stock if the stock is good then you can keep in Unresticted use for further sales.
I dont think so you need again one more sto to get return stock from NDE2 to NDE1 as it is damaged stock and un necessary paying transport costs.
If you scrap the material then the 3 qty of stock 3 doller price hit to scrap account.

  • How to Handle SAP SUS XML Acknowledgment

    Hi folks,
I have a scenario here where the SAP R/3 system sends a Purchase Order document to SAP SUS through a SAP XI Mapping.
After processing the P.O. document, the SAP SUS system, automatically, returns a Acknowledgment message (ns: http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30) to SAP XI.
I need to implement a BPM scenario where SAP XI processes this Acknowledgment message and Logs it into my Monitor System (JDBC Adapter). Actually, the SAP XI needs to send to my Monitor System the status (Success or Fail) of the P.O. processing by SAP SUS.
How can I handle this Acknowledgment message with a BPM Scenario? Is it possible?
    Best Regards,
    Nascimento

    Hi Thiago,
Currently in BPM you can do this with ASYNC-SYNC Bridge design.
You can not dirrectly access the content of the ACK, however the BPM shows different behaviours based on the ACK status. E.g. if the ACK contains a success message the BPM will continue in its normal process, if the ACK contains a permanent error, it will either stop or go through an exception branch (provided such a branch has been defined). Have a look at the documentation: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/43/65ce41ae343e2be10000000a1553f6/content.htm It doesnt"t state the above mentioned behaviour in detail but says that you need to define an exception branch.
The trickiest part is always to find out, when you will get a transient vs. as permanent error ack. If you are using ACKs with Proxies refer also to this link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/29/345d3b7c32a527e10000000a114084/content.htm and this http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/f4/8620c6b58c422c960c53f3ed71b432/content.htm
Receiver adapters that run on the Adapter Engine support system acknowledgments if they are requested by the sender. Acknowledgements are triggered when a message is successfully processed by the adapter or if an error occurs while it is being processed. Receiver adapters do not support application acknowledgments. The RNIF and CIDX adapters are exceptions to this rule, since they also support scenario-dependent application acknowledgments. Sender adapters of the Adapter Engine do not request any acknowledgments.
However IDoc adapter is requesting application acks. Therefore you have to disable acks for this scenario using report IDX_NOALE.

  • How to handle Big FIles in SAP PI Sender file adapter

    Hi all ,
I have developed a interface , where it is File to Proxy, it is fine when i do with small and normal files
The structure contain one  Header unbounded  detail and one  Trailer, how to handle when the file size is more than 40 MB
    Thanking you
    Sridhar

    Hi Sridhar Gautham,
We can set a limit on the request body message length that can be accepted by the HTTP Provider Service on the Java dispatcher. The system controls this limit by inspecting the Content-Length header of the request or monitoring the chunked request body (in case chunked encoding is applied to the message). If the value of the Content-Length header exceeds the maximum request body length, then the HTTP Provider Service will reject the request with a 413 u201CRequest Entity Too Largeu201D error response. You can limit the length of the request body using the tting MaxRequestContentLength property of the HTTP Provider Service running on the Java dispatcher. By default, the maximum permitted value is 131072 KB (or 128MB).You can configure the MaxRequestContentLength property using the Visual Administrator tool. Proceed as follows:
           1.      Go to the Properties tab of the HTTP Provider Service running on the dispatcher.
           2.      Choose MaxRequestContentLength property and enter a value in the Value field. The length is specified in KB.
           3.      Choose Update to add it to the list of properties.
           4.      To apply these changes, choose  (Save Properties).
The value of the parameter MaxRequestContentLength has to be set to a high value.
The Visual administartor tool may be accessed using this link
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/40a08db9-59b6-2c10-5e8f-a4b2a9aaa3d2?quicklink=index&overridelayout=true
In short  ICM parameters to reset values for this case are
    icm/HTTP/max_request_size_KB
    icm/server_port_ TIMEOUT
    rdisp/max_wprun_time
    zttp/max_memreq_MB
Please look into this thread to know more about ICM parameters
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/61/f5183a3bef2669e10000000a114084/frameset.htm
Second solution is that you must split the source file, so that each file is less than 5MB in size, then PI would not cause problem for file size between 1MB-5MB. you can insert header and trailer for individual smaller file obtained after split. All this can be done using scripts or conventional programing provided individual records within file are independent of each other. Finally you have to rename each new file created and put them in PI folder in sequential manner. All this can be achieved by simple shell script/batch file, a C code or java code. If you are going for a C or Java code you need a script to call them from PI communication channel parameter  "run operating system command before message processing".

  • SAP Idocs -How to handle response from target system

    Hi,
I am working on a scenario in which I will send Idocs asynchronously from SAP thro a SOAP adapter to a  webservice deployed on the target system.
After the Idoc data is posted in the target system, the target system will send the acknowledgement for the receipt(basically response message). How to handle this scenario?
SAP Idoc( outbound asynchronous)---> SAP XI3.0(soap adapter) ---> Target system(inbound synchronous)
Do I need to go for BPM to handle this situation?
Is there any alterantive to BPM.
If any of the forum members who have worked on the similar scenario could help me in finding a better solution,I will be thankful to them.
    Thanks,
    Leo

    Hi Udo,
Thanks for the info.My scenario is like this.
SAP R/3 Idoc -> SAP XI 3.0 <-> Webservice in the target system.
The webservice in the target system will receive the Idoc as a request messsage and send a response message synchronously.
Since Idoc is sent asynchronously( I believe Idocs sent from SAP are always asynchronous),there is no Proxy waiting in SAP R/3 to receive the response message from the target system.
If I go for BPM for the above scenario, will the BPM steps look like the following.
    1)Receive Idoc from SAP.
    2)Send Idoc sysnchronously to webservice
3)Receive the response from the webservice synchronously.
4.Post the response message to a proxy which can handle it further in SAP R/3.
Please note that my knowledge in BPM is limited and correct me if I am wrong.
    Thanks in advance

  • How to handle empty Dats field received from SAP RFC response

    Hi All,
I am invoking a SAP RFC which gives me a Dats field in response.
A valid dats fields is successfully received by my pipelines.
But when an empty Dats field is received, My pipeline fails and i get error.
How to handle the empty Dats field from SAP

    Hi Anant,
This is because the legacy SAP adapter accepted RFC messages with date field empty. In the new version, the same call results in an error. WCF-SAP adapter doesn't allow blank XML nodes.
You need to use the below custom pipeline component as a workaround.
    Refer:
