SAPGUI LOGON

Hi folks,
I downloaded sapgui from the SDN-download site. I would like to practice and log on to the system for ABAP. The system is prompting me to put in the description and appl/message server name and currently am not working and don't have a config for logon with password. Is it possible to host the sapgui from your local computer and run it? what ashould I type for the log on prompts as I don't have any clue...I also read the documentation but it doesn't have any default settings for the user. Please somebody help

You will need to have an ABAP system present on your local machine, you can download the sneak preview edition on SDN.  Install it, then in the sapgui, you can set up the logon.
In the application server field, enter "localhost".  In the system id field, enter "NSP".  In the System number fields, enter "00".
That's it, now you can log on to your ABAP engine.
I hope I understood the question.

For that I found this note 205487, but it seems it's not possible to have different sizes of characters (doesn't work).
    Anybody have other solutions ?

  • SAPGui for Windows Multiple Logon with Portal

    Hi,
We are using SAPGUI for Windows in Portal in the external window, we are also using it the SAPConsole form the desktop. While using from desktop, the multiple logon (within same client) complains / comes with the pop-up with two standard options.
We would like achieve the same functionality of popup (Restricting multiple logons for the same client) within the portal, any ideas?
I came across certain threads and also notes but none seem to provide a solution....

    Lonny,
The best way to authenticate users when they logon using SAP GUI for Windows, is to use SNC authentication in SAP GUi. Then, the browser iview will launch the GUI and the GUI will authenticate the user using their AD credentials issued during the Windows logon. You will need to setup an SNC library on both the ABAP system which the user is logged onto, and the workstation where SAP GUI is installed.
If you don't use SNC, and you just launch SAP GUI for Windows from browser, then an SSO2 ticket is used to authenticate the user to the ABAP stack, and this is not secure due to the fact that the SAP GUI session which is used to pass the SSO2 ticket is not protected - anybody can intercept the SAP GUI session, take the SSO2 ticket from this traffic and logon as that user - clearly this is bad security and needs SNC to make it secure.
    Thanks,
    Tim

  • Unable to get the logon screen when i open the sapgui

    Hi gurus,
I have recently installed SAP 4.7 R/3 enterprise with the necessary requirements and after installation i am unable to get the logon screen (i am just getting the navigation bar which cannot be accessd) when i start my sapgui logon.I am getting a message at the bottom of the screen program SAPMS380,i cannot find any client or userid or password screen so can anyone help me...i need the reply as quickly as possible.
    Regards,
    Arun

when you first install a system you'll notice that on Windows environment it takes too much to present the logon window because it needs to compile a lot of programs.
What's the status on SAP MMC?
Do you get or net the logon window? that's not clear on your message.
    cheers

Dear Portal experts, is it possible to send the sapgui logon language as query string in URL so sso login to EP is language JP and the login to SAPGUI Iview (for windows) can be different langauge eg English. There is a document that talks abt configuration setting for SAPGUI for HTML , but no documentation for SAPGUI for windows using shortcut..

    Regards
    Gabriel

    Hi Gabriel,
There are some context variables available for Generic component of app integrator. You can refer to the below link.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/36/5e3842134bad04e10000000a1550b0/content.htm
I know transaction iView is a different component but worth giving it a try.

  • Customize SAP GUI Logon screen

    Hi,
I have seen that some logon screens (where you enter client, user, password, language) has additional written information, like "needing a user for this system, please call xxx". My question is how and where can i define this additonal information on the SAP GUI logon screen?
    Best regards,
    Martin

Hello, it means the system creators (for example if is IDES or trial SAP systems) or system administrators creates this information, try read how --> Note 205487 - Own text on SAPGui logon screen

  • SAP Gui Logon Error - 0942

    Hi,
We done system copy from SAP ECC6 windows to unix environment. It sucessfully installed.
while we logon(SAPGUI) the Unix system  Error message Occurs "SQL Error 942 When
    accessing program SAPM".
    Kindly advice to us.
    regards

    > No problem in System copy method. I login to my unix system(root user) i sucessfully started database & cI.
    > by using commands lsnrctl start & startsap sap. Server works fine.My problem is SAP GUI Login only
The SAPGUI Logon problem is a symptom of the problem. The system doesn'T find a specific table it looks for. Even if the system is up and running this doesn't mean anything. You can't logon since a program can't be loaded because the table is not existing.
Check your dev_w* traces, I'm sure you find a LOT of errors.

  • Users logon issue

    Hello ALL,
In pec 4 to 5 users used to logon through same user id previously but now they are not able to logon together from that user id plz help me out in this in brief.
    Regards

Check the settings of the profile parameter in RZ11- login/disable_multi_gui_login
Below is from SAP help for your reference
    Parameter description :
If this parameter is set to value 1, multiple dialog logons to  (in the same client and under the same user name) are blocked by the system:
When the system recognizes a multiple logon, it displays a dialog box with the options "Terminate the current sessions" or
    "Terminate this logon".
This parameter works with SAPgui logons.
System logons using the Remote Function Call (RFC) are controlled using the parameter %%login/disable_multi_rfc_login%%.
Logons with SERVICE user master records are also not subject to the mulitple logons check.

  • Multiple Logon disable

    Dear All ,
while multiple logon are performed.SAP pop-up a message with 3 options
    1.terminate logon
    2.continue with the logon
3.continue with the logon terminating other sessions.
Here we Want to disable the 2 option that is : continue with the logon.
Here we  came to know : we can add the following parameterto the instance profile
    logon/disable_multi_gui_login
Pl guide with the steps how to add this & where ( Tcode & procedure ) .
    Regards

    Hi,
Please go through the below SAPnote to get better clarity on it.....
Note 142724 - Prevention of multiple SAPGUI logons
PS: If this parameter is set to value 1, multiple SAPGUI logons (in the same client and with the same user) are blocked by the system. The parameter is effective during the SAPGUI logon. Logons to the system using the Internet Transaction Server (ITS) or Remote Function Call (RFC) are not influenced by the profile parameter. Furthermore, SAPGUI transaction calls (iViews) that are placed through the Workplace or the Enterprise Portal are not controlled with regard to multiple logons...

  • Accessing the Logon User Exit from the Internet using an ITS Service

I can access the Logon User Exit (EXIT_SAPLSUSF_001) from R/3, but not from the Web using an ITS service. What am I missing in order to access the Logon User Exit from the Web. The ITS service was created from an ABAP screen program.
    Thanks
    david yee

The SAPGui logon exit is called after successfull authentication has been completed and after a SAPGui session has been attached.
If you logon via RFC, WebGui, ICM or the Wgate then this exit does not trigger.
What are you wanting to add to your code after the logon ?
An solution I have used is to create a wrapper RFC for a BAPI and create a webservice for the wrapper. Before calling the BAPI you can do whatever you want to from a security perspective.
But for that you need to have an appropriate BAPI...
Please explain what you want to do and what you would have wanted in the exit. Often there is a better way.
    Cheers,
    Julius
ps: I moved this to the security forum.

  • How to block the multiple logons with NWBC?

    Hello,
With Sapgui we have the possibility to prevent the multiple dialog logon by profile parameters (login/disable_multi_gui_login).
How to prevent the multiple dialog logon using NWBC to the same system?
    Best regards
    Frédéric Blaise

    Hello,
I opened a ticket at Sap but unfortunately they do not have a solution even if the problem is known.
"Unfortunately, due the HTTP protocol nature, is not possible to force a single logon via web browser. The profile parameter login/disable_multi_gui_login is solely valid for SAPGUI logons."
"Since this case is known since the Web Application Server was created, I am pretty convinced that SAP knows about the fact that multiple logons cannot be blocked (you can only give a warning for the user)."
Since we monitor multiple connections with the SM04 transaction and notify customers that they may be controlled by Sap.
    Best regards
    Frédéric
