SAPGUI - 'Signature Design', being in different systems, QA, Tst, Prod

With "Enjoy", I could set my Dev, QA, Tst & Prod to different colors so I can quickly tell what system I am in without looking in lower right corner.
I saw a note saying with Signature Design UI, you can't change the color scheme.
Is this still true ? Or having multiple systems up and running, has anybody found a "quick" way to id what system you are in without looking in lower right ?
With working in QA and Prod all day long, it was nice with Enjoy having each it's own color scheme knowning what I was in when.  If Signature doesn't have this flexibility, I might have to go back to Enjoy.
Thanks for any input on this.
David

Yes, signature design does NOT support different colors per system.

    Hi all,
does any one has an idea about how to make the source directory parameter dynamic in terms of different environment (DEV, QA, PROD)?
so I want have to change manully the path?
    Thanks,

    hi,
    >different environment (DEV, QA, PROD)?
    >so I want have to change manully the path?
first of all you will have to put it manully anyway
as if you transport every communication channel
you need to fill the data on every landsapce (QA, PRD)
as it's gone when you import it

  • Replace SAP logo in status line in the new Signature Design (SAPgui 7.10)

    Hello,
with SAPgui 7.10 there is a new desing available, the Signature Design. Recently a customer asked me, if it is possible to replace the small SAP logo in the middle of the status line (at the bottom of the SAP window) with another image.
I don't know this, has anyone an answer for me?

    I doubt so (although I don´t know 100 %).
The bottom SAP image has the same functionality as before in the right upper corner (you can doubleclick it to send support messages to SolMan system). You couldn´t change the right upper corner image.

  • How to design EDW for source systems from different Time-Zones

How to design EDW for source systems from different Time-Zones?
Suppose IT landscape has a global BW in New York, and source systems in americas, europe and asia, then how the time-zones effect on time related things like delta selections on date or timestamp etc.

As you said BW is global in NY, your source system must be global too. People from various locations can connect to same source system and thus timestamps for delta is always maintained as 1 single time. We have same scenario in our project. Our R/3 system is used by users in US and Europe. So we run deltas twice in day to make sure we got deltas from both locations.
If scenarios was such that all locations connect to separate R/3 system, then obviously you have multiple queues. That is unique delta queue for each source system so deltas will be pulled as per data in respective queues.

  • SAP Signature Design & Task Bar Auto-Hide Feature

    Hi Experts,
I'm having a problem with SAP Business One 8.8 PL18 using the new 8.8 SAP Signature Design. We are in a business with 4 professionals and 1 CRM. When we use the SAP Signature Design Skin Style and you have SBO maximized on the screen and you have Windows auto-hide the Task bar. You can't go back to the task bar with your mouse to switch applications or to just go to your start menu. The only way you can make the task bar appear is by pressing the "window key" to make the task bar display. To change applications, you can still use the "Alt Tab feature". If I put the Skin Style to Classic Mode, everything works great with no apparent display problems.
I've tried this on 3 different operating systems. Windows 7, Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server and the same results. The task bar won't re-pop up if you move your mouse down to it (I tried moving the task bar to the left, top or right to see if that made a difference, and it didn't). I've been using the "Window Key" for now to make the task bar pop up (display), but I think it's a bug with the skin style and not the operating system.
I've tried to get this resolved with our partner, but I don't think they understand the problem, or are just not willing to acknowledge the problem. They probably think it is a petty problem. We all like the new design and would like to use it properly while still having the task bar auto-hide.
The question actually is, do you know of this problem, is there something I can disable or do to get it to work (ie: make it run with compatibility mode to something) or do I just have to live with this problem?
I thank you very much in trying or helping me with this problem
    Ron
    IT Manager

    Hi Ron,
Welcome you post on the forum.
I don't have the same version to test. Based on your detailed explanation, I do think it is probably a bug. Since it may not be used by many users, it could have low priority to be fixed even if it is confirmed to be a bug.

  • Puzzle - Anatomy of SAP Signature Design

Nice -:) That's why you always need to double check before posting something LOL
    Greetings,
    Blag.

    > Well, that's a good point, but in my opinion, we should have the choice. If I choose to use 1920 x 1080 on my screen, and display the sapgui as full screen, I should be able to fill the screen with SAP data.
    > That's the way, nearly all Windows apps  do work !
Native Windows applications - yes - I agree. But if you look at websites, you'll see that they are "optimized" for some special screen resolution (mostly 1024 x 768). And we still buy many laptops and netbooks with that max. resolution. Of course, it would be nice to have a choice
    > We get a lot od complaints from our users because of the lack of ergonomy od SAP R/3 or ECC 6 standard transactions. We have, more and more, to develop BSP web applications as a workaround to this problem. On our production ECC6 system we now consume more HTTP and RFC steps than dialog steps...
Sounds interesting I'd love to see how you built MD04 or a VA01/VA02/VA03 in BSP/Web - seriously. Our users complain always that the web applications "feel" to slow, a click and you have to wait a second or more, if you need to enter a huge amount of data each day it's just too slow - by design.
    > I tried the SAP Signature Design as I happen to use SAPGUI 7.0 pl 12. The look is nice but it is just a gadget. We won't even show its existence to our users.
We did - and the users liked it although it's "just" a theme on top. Most complains came because it's no more possible to change colors and if you work with a dozen systems it's a bit difficult/cumbersome to distinguish between the windows
    > It reminds me about the "Enjoy SAP" Gimmick. Users were already asking for ergonomy and SAP painted the screens from grey to blue....
True. Without education/classes nobody is able to enter an order in VA01 correctly
    > I do understand that with dynpro/sapgui technology, this problem is very difficult to overcome.
    You could use GuiXT

  • New Signature Design = Fast?

Should the new signature design delivered in patch 11 also cause a speed boost?  I don't have hard benchmark numbers before and after, but the GUI just feels more responsive on my machine after apply the patch and switching themes.
It could just be my development system is having a good day, but I'm just impressed at how quick the GUI comes back with app server responses.
    Take care,
    Stephen

    Hi all,
as one of our tests we perform for each patch / compilation of SAP GUI for Windows we measure the performance (focus is on CPU utilization, memory consumption and used GDI objects). For SAP Signature Design we have measured the performance a number of times and have compared this to Enjoy.
During the early stages of SAP Signature Design development we have seen a big difference between Enjoy and SAP Signature Design: SAP Signature Design consumed a lot more than Enjoy.
Through various cycles of improvement and optimization we have managed to reduce the difference between Enjoy and SAP Signature Design to the values mentioned in SAP note 26417:
"When SAP Signature Design is activated SAP GUI uses about 12MB
additional memory and the CPU utilization by SAP GUI increases to
between 140% and 175% of the utilization when using Enjoy."
The 12MB are caused by additional lilbraries which have to loaded when SAP Signature Design is active. This additional amount of memory is not used per session, but only once for all sessions.
Therefore this should not be a big issue unless you are using Terminal Servers (on a WTS this may be an issue since many users on the same hardware will need the additional 12MB).
The additional CPU utilization is required for the different drawing mechanisms (e.g. the shadows) and we currently see no way to further significantly improve this.
    To answer your original question:
Even though SAP Signature Design is looking faster than Enjoy, it is not. I think the modern optical impression of the new design helps to make it look faster and on modern PCs we do not expect any significant performance issues. Therefore you probably have the "feeling" that it is faster (and this is great since the impression of the end user is very important, too).
I hope that helps to answer the question.
    Best regards,
    Frank Krause

  • Difference between Classic, Enjoy and Signature design

    Hi guys,
We are about to install SAP GUI version 720 for accessing SAP GL on ECC6 (NW7.01) and are looking into the desktop requirememnts in terms of CPU, Memory etc.
The various SAP notes mention that there will be a different requirement depending on whetter you activate the Classic, the Enjoy or the Signature design.
Can anyone explain what the difference between these actually is? All we want to do is use the SAP GUI for journal entry/change, basic reporting and workflow tasks.
    Many thanks

    My apologies.
I cannot speak for SAP's reasons as I do not work for them, however, the difference here which we have encountered is just the choice for users to make it more aesthetically pleasing.  There are no items/options/buttons which are missing due to the theme selection. (At least that we have heard or come across)  It is more of a personal choice.  I do not use the signature design personally but many users have adopted the new theme.  We have about 20-30 thousand users of SAP gui and just have a document posted on how to change the theme if they do not like the SAP Signature one as it was the default when rolled out.
Multiple options just gives the users more choices to find something which they may like better than forcing the default on everyone.  I would look at it more like Microsoft Windows themes.  Gives options to users for going with the new Windows 7 theme, revert to the old Vista look or all the way back to XP, etc.

  • Adjust front panel to screen size and re-position objects on different systems automatically

Hello, i have designed a vi that contains 5 led's placed at the 4 corners and center of the front panel which occupies the entire screen. However, this vi is to be used on different systems having different screen sizes. But on every screen, i'll need the front panel size = screen size and the led's to  be placed to the centers and corner of this new screen size automatically without any manual operations and positioning bieng done every time. Will the resize option perform this task completely or do i have to go for some other techniques?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

As far as I know, what you want is not easy to do but it is doable but you have to programmatically do it (no Labview setting). Here is an example for only 2 LEDs but I suppose that you will be able to make it work for your other LEDs.
This VI maximizes the front panel and then positions the 2 LEDs in the center and top right corner upon running. The LEDs are positioned according to their own top left  corners, not according to their centers.

  • Passing parameters through Single JCo to different systems

I have created a web dynpro application and integrated into a portal, which access R/3 using a JCo destination and retrieves the data using a BAPI.
But I want to integrate the same application into another portal, which would access the different R/3 system having the same function module.
Is there any way for switching between two Jco destinations as the same application could be made to work for both the systems?
Please suggest me as I am stuck up with this issue.
Thanks for your response; the thing is the portals are sharing the same landscape.
Is there any other way to achieve switching of the JCO destinations even on the same landscape?
You have the same application but want to connect to different JCos.
I think you will be creating two WD iViews for the same application. In the application properties do the following:
Use the following url parameter to the application URI
    sap-wd-arfc-useSys=<DEFAULT_SYSTEM>:<SUFFIX_OF_MAPPED_SYSTEM>
In the default system you can change your JCo destination name
    Please suggest me .
    Thanks
    Lohi

    Hi Mani,
    Thanks for your response.
And one more problem we are facing.
Now our application needs to be deployed on different systems with different JCo connection names, for this we have passed a parameter Sap-wd-arfc-useSys in the URL defining the new Jco Connection name .
for example we have created the application on Jco connection name ABC_DEST and we have passed the parameter value ans ABC_DESTLHP in the URL.
This ABC_DESTLHP JCO Connection is defined on the that particular system where we have deployed the application.
It was working fine When we were using one application and one component But it is not working with case of two applications and two components.
We are using inter applciation navigation to pass the parameters from first application to second application.
The parameters being passed are captured from the URL and that is creating the problem as the URL is being changed dynamically when capturing the  parameters.
So Please let us know is there any way we could define the Jco Connection name in the program itself.
Or else if you could provide me your number that would be great help (If you are in US or India) .
    Thanks in advance
    Lohi

  • Single Webservice to perform more than 1 function in different systems

    Hello,
Just to give a brief idea what i am trying to achieve is:
I want to create a Web Service which will do some operations in R/3 , some operations in SAP-CRM and some in a .Net System.
    So lets say:
I have a portal from where my Sales order is getting created in CRM, and then some validations and availability check has to be performed in a .Net System and finally Delivery of that SO should be done in SAP R/3 .
So i need to create a Web Service which can perform these functions in different systems.
So how can i design my scenario.
We can manage this through creating RFC's in different systems and calling them but how about .net system and what if it has to be done through Web Service approach only.
    All inputs are most welcome.
    Regards,
    Mayank

    Hi Mayank,
The best approach to follow would depend entirely on what solutions you have in your system ladnscape. It's a bit of an open ended question. I think you're complicating it though.
Unless your mandate is specifically to use web services & there is a reqyurement for real-time communication, I would use RFC's all around, even for the .NET portion, see more info on making RFC calls to .NET using the SAP .NET Connector (SMP Login required):
This way you will ensure delivery (or retry mechanisms at the very least). You could also ensure delivery if all parties involved support WS-RM. If you specifically need use web service communication for the .NET call, you have some options like:
    - RFC to SOAP call from SAP once the .NET connector is functioning.
    - Generate a Service Consumer Proxy on the SAP side using the WSDL provided from the .NET developer (once the service is ready on their side) & trigger a service call as & when you need to.
If you need to use web serivce communication all around then you can do that as well (with some Abap Proxy Provider / Consumer dev work with some custom code OR you could use SAP Enterprise Services if available). It just means extra Abap development work when you already have all the tools (IDOCs etc.) to trigger RFC calls for all the SAP-to-SAP calls.

  • Single BPEL process to server different system?

    Hi All,
I have one source system and have three target system.
Source System - S1 (Oracle System)
    Target System - T1, T2, T3 (oracle System)
    I need to pass supplier data from S1 to T1, T2, T3.
I need to create only one single BPEL process to acheive this.
Current design is to transfer data from S1 to T1, T2, T3 using database adapter (Having three db adpater and passing same payload to three).
I am not happy with the design to have three adpater (say if we have 10 different system then we may need 10 adapter). Can anybody please suggest any other way around using BPEL or ESB.

  • Adobe - inconsistent output on different systems

    Hi,
I am converting my smartform output to PDF and this output I am displaying as PDF file in print preview. In some of the PCs, occasionally, the output does not appear in the print preview(Adobe Reader). A pop up box in adobe reader appears that does not have any text. The pdf file also does not have any output in it.
What can be a possible reason? This is inconsistent behaviour. Because the output displays correctly on other PCs or the same PC after a period of time for the same input.
The internal tables are being properly refreshed.
We are using ECC 6.0, Adobe version 9 and Windows Vista.
    Regards,

the data processing is correct. I debugged the program on two different systems. The debugging results are always similar.
The pdf is displayed in a custom control container.
The following code returns code 0.

  • Making New Signature Design the default

Good afternoon - I have installed a SAPGui 7.10 Compilation 3 Installation Server and I have installed the SAPGui on a frontend machine. It seems that you have to manually choose the SAP Signature Design in TweakGui before this becomes the default on that machine. I would like to be able to make this the default theme after installation so that users don't have to manually choose it. It there an .ini file or a registry setting where this is recorded so that I could push out this setting or set it during the install/update of the SAPGui?
    Your assistance is appreciated!
    Regards,
    Blair Towe

Should be stored in HKLM (or HKCU) \Software\SAP\General\Appearance\UseSMCRendering with a value of 1.
Try note 1233328.  Look under the "How to centrally activate "SAP Signature Design" section.  It talks about writing a Script Event to add the registry key to your install package.
