Saposcol not running in OS400 - how to start in OS level

Hi everyone,
I am new to iSeries and I'm having trouble starting saposcol. My system is running in OS400 SAP ECC6.0 Kernel release 700.
ST06 is not displaying updated data so I killed the saposcol process in the OS level using <sid>OFR user. Everytime i tried to submit a job CALL PGM(SAPOSCOL) PARM ('-l') to start it, i only get the message "Job 040584/<sid>OFR/SAPOSCOL submitted to job queue QBATCH in library QGPL." But nothing happens after that.
When I check job queue QBATCH, it doesnt contain any job. I displayed all the jobs and found out that all the saposcol I called is in the OUTQ status. I still get the saposcol not runing error in ST06. I tried starting it in ST06 but it still gives me the error that saposcol is not running, shared memory not available. Can anyone please tell me how to start the saposcol? Thanks.

Hi Sheryl,
We have had numerous problems with our OS Collector for the last several years too.  I have a few steps that I follow to start the OS Collector when our collector fails.
1 - Make sure saposcol is using the latest patch from service.sap.com.
2 - Sign on to system as <SID>OFR and run the following commands.
CALL PGM(SAPOSCOL) PARM('-d')
Brings up the saposcol program in a dialog mode for commands to be keyed
key in the following in the saposcol dialog:  clean
     Cleans shared memory
key in the following:  quit
Stop the OS collector with the following command:
CALL PGM(SAPOSCOL) PARM('-k')
key in the following in the saposcol dialog:  leave
a message "shared memory deleted" or "shared memory not attached" should be displayed
key in the following:  quit
Change directory to /usr/sap/tmp and rename file coll.put (rename to coll.put.old)
Try to start the OS Collector from ST06.  Wait about 5 minutes and refresh statistics.
3 - Open a customer message with SAP.  SAP has been very helpful with our saposcol restarts.
Hope this helps!

    Hi, gurus:
We have a problem with SAPOSCOL in a SAP ECC 6.0 system (SAP ECC 6.0 + NetWeaver 7.00 + Oracle 10.2 + Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise x64 Edition) running over a MS cluster:
Transactions OS06/ST06 shows no data, and they show an info message wich states: SAPOSCOL not running ? (shared memory not available ). When we checked this issue, we noticed that, in fact, there is no sapcoscol.exe task running in any node.
But when we try to start the service (both using microsoft services console and cmd commands) although we can see the process running in the node which owns all the resources, SAP seems not notice that. The information system shows in ST06>Operating System Collector>Status is the following:

    Dear bhaskar:
Thanks for your reply. We have considered balancing the system to the other node or reboot the system to free resources, in order to re-create the shared memory, but in the past, the balancing process (move resources from one node to the other) has caused problems. Since this is a critical system, stopping (or balancing) is not an option right now, and updating the kernel requires an ABAP stack reboot plus the kernel change : any changes in system configuration requires a longer approval/planning process than a reboot.
Moreover, the OS collecting system and its display in OS06/ST06 has worked fine until now.
Does anyone knows if a reboot has solved this kind of problem in a similar situation?
    Thanks in advance

  • SAPOSCOL not running

    Hi All,
We have successfully migrated SAP 4.0b from V5R2 to V5R4 ,but after the migration ,from SAP Application side SAPCOSCOL is not running.
What could be the reason for this?
From OS side SAPOSCOL is running.
Is there any latest patch for SAPOSCOL that has to be applied?
    Will appreciate the quick responses.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Prashant.

    Hi,
yes you need to apply latest saposcol patch.
From OS side SAPOSCOL is running.
-> means at OS level saposcol is running but it did not collect any data.
SAPOSCOL has 4 collector jobs: CRTPFRDTA, QPMACLCT, QPMASRVR and QYPSPFRCOL.
If one of these jobs stops (either due to an error, or ended manually), SAPOSCOL job will keep running, but will not show any more data, until all 4 jobs are restarted.
Easiest way to do this, is to stop the 4 collector jobs and SAPOSCOL job, and restart SAPOSCOL collection
via STO6 menu (OS collector -> Start).

  • I downloaded Acrobat in August, and would like to use it on my laptop as my secondary device. I understand that one user may use 2 devices under 1 license, as long as not run simultaneously. How is the second download completed?  (Dummy instructions pleas

This is the only information I've found about using a second device from Adobe:
Can I use my software on two computers?
If you own, or are the primary user of, a single-user or volume license Adobe product that is installed on a computer at work, you can also install and use the software on one secondary computer of the same platform at home or on a portable computer. However, you may not run the software simultaneously on both the primary and secondary computers.  No more than one user can use a single-user license Adobe product.  Note: AVL customers have to buy two different licenses to use both operating systems, even if they have two different computers. They can only use the same license on another computer (not simultaneously) with the same platform at home.

    Hello blu monkey,
I found some resources that I think might help with the visibility of your IMAP email folders on your iPad and Mac.
On your iPad, you may need to follow the steps in this article to make sure your folders are visible:
iOS: If IMAP Mail folders are not visible
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1393
On your Mac, I am not sure if you have the sidebar enabled, but you can enable it using the steps in the article below.  When this is showing, you should see your email account listed near the bottom with a triangle next to it.  When the triangle is pointing down, it should show your folders:

  • SAPOSCOLL is not running

    Hi Experts
In my system SAPOSCOLL is not running, when i try to enter st06 system throwing error "saposcoll is not running (shared memory available).
    we are using os400, ecc6 & DB2.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi
The operating system collector SAPOSCOL is a stand-alone program that runs in the operating system background. It runs independently of SAP instances exactly once per monitored host. SAPOSCOL collects data about operating system resources, including:
    ·        Usage of virtual and physical memory
    ·        CPU utilization
    ·        Utilization of physical disks and file systems
    ·        Resource usage of running processes
SAPOSCOL makes the data available using a segment of the shared memory for various applications and all SAP instances on a host. A CCMS agent or a dialog work process reads the data from the shared memory. You can display the data in various monitoring architecture monitors or in the operating system monitor (transactions OS07 and ST06). If the operating system data is read and sent by CCMS agents, you can display operating system data for any hosts in a central system.
Please check if the saposcol is running properly at OS level or not. The reason for this is saposcol should start before the sap application server, since it creates a shared memory segment where it store the information which is collected by it.
When the SAP application server starts up , it looks for the shared memory segment which was created earlier,if the memory segment is present SAP app server attaches to that segment and ST06 works fine.If saposcol was not running when SAP app server started. The shared memory segment isn't present and hence ST06 and other transactions relying in SAPOSCOL doesn't work even after  you startup saposcol later.
Oerating system monitor and file system monitoring is part of it.
    Hope it helps.

  • How to programmatically load and show the front panel of a vi but NOT run it?

Is there a way to load and show the front panel of a vi but NOT run it?  I am starting with the AsynchronousCallAndForget.vi from the example finder and inserted an invoke node with the FP Open method call prior to the Start Asynchronous Call node. The vi I am loading has the "Run when opened" unchecked and the menu bar IS visible so I can manually click the run arrow. Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Why are you using the Async call? If you simply open the VI reference, then call the FP.Open method this works fine. You can then call the VI run method with Wait Until Done set to false if you wish to run it Asynchronously, this is how we did it in ye olde days before we had this new fangled "Start Asynchronous Call" stuff.

  • How to start Oracle database in solaris Machine

I installed Oracle database in my solaris machine. Everything went fine .. I was able to install it and test the database if it's working or not.
Something happened that made me shut down and restart the solaris machine, the problem is that Oracle is not running, so I have to start it manually, and I'm not sure how to do that ... Is there a way to start Oracle automatically once the solaris machine is started ...
I'm using the SSH Secure Shell Client to configure and install everything into the solaris machine ..

Here is the work around for starting oracle instance automatically.
    1) logon the system as root user.
    2) under /etc/init.d/ directory, create a file name oraclestart(name the file to what you feel comfortable). eg: /etc/init.d/oraclestart.
    with the following content:
    #!/bin/sh
    # Created by Henry Nguyen
    # Date 10/11/2005
    # Script to automatic start and stop oracle instances on server
    ORACLE_HOME=/export/home/oracle/product/9.2.0.1.0 (diffrent on your system)
    if [ ! -f $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbstart || ! -f $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbshut ]; then
    echo missing oracle start/stop script
    exit 1
    fi
    case "$1" in
    'start')
    su - oracle -c '$ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbstart'
    su - oracle -c '$ORACLE_HOME/bin/lsnrctl start'
    'stop')
    su - oracle -c '$ORACLE_HOME/bin/lsnrctl stop'
    su - oracle -c '$ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbshut'
    esac
    3) create 2 soft link as following:
    ln -s /etc/init.d/oraclestart /etc/rc2.d/S99oraclestart
    ln -s /etc/init.d/oraclestart /etc/rc0.d/K10oraclestart
Note the S99 and K10: that are Solaris priorities to when start and stop an oracle instance and those letter must be capitalized.
    Hope this will help you

In order to take advantage of the iFS, you must start the iFS servers. Go to your %ORACLE_HOME%\ifs\bin directory and invoke the ifsstart.bat command. This will start the protocol servers you selected in the iFS Configuration Assistant. You must provide valid iFS credentials to start the servers. This will also start the Java Web Server, if it was selected. Consult the iFS Installation Guide for more info.

    Thanks
    Krrish

    Hi Krrish,
This can only be done via the opmnctl command line tool.
    Subsequently run:
    - opmnctl stopproc process-type=home application=ascontrol
    - opmnctl startproc process-type=oc4j_soa application=ascontrol
    Then ascontrol runs in oc4j_soa.
Although this is fine for development or when running SOA Suite in a Virtual Machine (and for cutting down memory consumption) it is not recommended for production deployments. In the latter case only run SOA Suite components in your SOA OC4J instance.

  • Saposcol is running intermittently

    Good Day Experts,
Can you guide me on how to solve the issue we are facing in SAPOSCOL? The situation is this, after startfing the saposcol using this command "saposcol -l" it works fine then while checking on st06 data is there. However, after few minutes and refreshing st06 the data seems gone and I am getting this error "SAPOSCOL not running Shared Memory not available".  And what I did after is that I logged off from SAP and log in again and SAPOSCOL works fine again. However after few minutes of refreshing the data in st06 seems gone again.
