Save an uploaded file in struts 2.0

Hi
I am working on the video hosting website where users can upload videos, I am able to save the uploaded file if I give the absolute path in my java file where as when I think it will be a better idea if I can use a relative path, because when I will be uploading the file on the web server than I cant use the absolute path, does any one know how to make the path relative in case of struts ?

I want the variable fullFileName as "/videosDirectory" so that it can automatically compute the path and save the file. or is there any better way ?

In file paths, a relative path is relative to the current working directory. And in an application server, the current working directory isn't related to your application (or any of the other applications) in any way. So that's unlikely to be what you want.
So, relative to what?

Save the uploaded file in a different name ?

Has anyone used the com.oreilly.MultipartRequest Class
which is used to upload a file to a directory.I am able to that
fine.I now need a way to save the uploaded file to a different name
when it gets saved in its destination.I am not sure if com.oreilly.MultipartRequest class has a feature or not.Can
anyone help me out of this please.

you can create files with your own name.
in temp directory, orielly package creates all the files you uploaded from the client.
create FileInputStream of file you need , create FileOutputStream with your new name and write the content to it.
here is some code,

How to save uploaded file in the context

Hi,
I am trying to save an uploaded file in a folder in reference to the
context. I can not get the path to the destination folder with reference to
the context.
The file gets uploaded fine as I can pull the info about the file, however,
I am not able to save it in a folder under context. Any ideas?

What I am struggling with is how to get the path relative to the context. The file upload works fine, however, the code fails at the fillowing line:

File upload: problem with writing uploaded file to server-harddisk

according to the example in the File upload tutorial, I tried to save an uploaded file to disk, but it didn't work (and also no messages / exceptions were thrown).
The Javadoc for the function uploadedFile.write(filename) says that if the file should be written in an other directory than the servers' tmp-directory, the server.policy has to be adjusted.
The following line is already included in my server.policy:
permission java.io.FilePermission "<<ALL FILES>>", "read,write";
So I have two questions:
1) Where can I find the servers' tmp-directory?
2) How should the sever.policy permission code look like?

The File Upload tutorial at http://developers.sun.com/prodtech/javatools/jscreator/learning/tutorials/2/file_upload.html has you save the uploaded file to disk. It also gives this information:
The server holds the uploaded file in memory unless it exceeds 4096 bytes, in which case the server holds the file contents in a temporary file. You can change this threshold by modifying the sizeThreshold parameter for the UploadFilter filter entry in the web application's web.xml file. For more information on modifying the web.xml file, see the last section in this tutorial, Doing More: Modifying the Maximum File Upload Size.
In cases where you want to retain the uploaded file, you have three choices:
* Write the file to a location of your choosing, as shown in this tutorial.
* Create an UploadedFile property in a managed bean and set it to the component's value before you exit the page (as in the button's action method).
* Save the file to a database.
By default, the File Upload component can handle files up to one megabyte in size. You can change the maximum file size by modifying the maxSize parameter for the UploadFilter filter entry in the application's web.xml file, as described in the last section in this tutorial, Doing More: Modifying the Maximum File Upload Size.

GetParameter() on an uploaded file

I am using a MultipartRequest object to get the file a user uploads (type="file"), and save it to a directory that I specified in the MultipartRequest constructor.
However, I also want to get the parameter value of where the user uploaded the file from the user's machine. I don't know how to do it since you can't use getParameter() when its an uploaded file. Can someone show me how this can be done??? If it makes things easier, I don't even have to save the uploaded file, I just need the parameter value from the user's end.

If you want to open or save the uploaded file on local PC then follow below steps:
1. Take a "FileDownload" UI element
2. Create Resource type value attribute and bind it to resource property of "FileDownload" UI element.
3 Write the below code in wdDoInit() method:

How Can I save and upload a Muse website as .htm files?

I have recently updated my website www.silverdogmusic.co.uk with Adobe Muse. The problem I have is that all my lovely SEO that I have built up over the last five years is pointing at .htm and there is no way to save a .htm file extention with Muse, only an option to save as .html, so I am currently paying a coder to change this for me every time I upload a new page or link, which not only defies the object of using Muse in the first place but is also costly and time consuming. Dreamweaver has the option of saving as either, so why not Muse? An easy solution would help me so much!!

Easiest way is to use '301 Redirects' ... lots of info on how to do that in Google.

Yes, you could try using the multipart handler...
But I have a better idea...
Determine the maximum number of file uploads that the
user can do at one time. I mean, you can't
realistically have the user upload a million files at
one time. So say the max is 20. So you create your
action form class with 20 FormFile fields called file1
to file20.
Then when you dynamically create your page, you
dynamically create the specified number of file fields
and 1 hidden field called "totalFiles" which contains
the number of file fields you created. This should be
an int field in the form bean.
Then when you do your action processing, you just loop
thru the totalFiles... Or well, actually, you may not
need that at all. You could just check all the
FormFile fields and whatever ones aren't null contain
files.But what about UploadActionForm.java[b]

Automatic file save on upload

I have created a site through Site Manager, and selected Automatically upload files on Save in the Server section.
After initially creating the site, this works fine. However, once I exit Dreamweaver and restart working on the project, this function seems to be hit and miss.
I have made sure that I am connected to my server through the Files panel, but most of the time I end up having to manually Put the files on the server. I have tried Synchronize, and it recognizes the changes I have made, but still the auto upload feature does not work.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I am using Dreamweaver CC 2014.

This may not be the answer you had hoped for but IMO the auto upload feature on save is dangerous and should be permanently deactivated in DW. It's just too easy to make mistakes with this kind of workflow. It takes no time at all to hit Ctrl+S to save a document and Ctrl+Shift+U to upload it.
