Save as HTML - tables?

Hello,
we are trying to save the FM document as HTML using the built in save as functionality. The tables are exported, but no ruling/borders and straddling information is reflected in the output HTML.
Does anybody know if there is a way to make FM to export tables with formatting information or any tool that is able to do that?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Viktor

FM10.
I don't have FM10, and haven't tried HTML generation since FM6 or so, but anyone who can help needs to know the version.
but no ruling/borders and straddling information is reflected in the output HTML.
The FM10 on-line help says, in the Troubleshooting and tips on HTML conversion
Make sure the table formats you use have regular ruling lines defined for at least one body row. Otherwise, the HTML tables will have no lines around table cells.
I would expect straddles to be converted to spans, since HTML has attributes for that.
can you suggest some 3rd party sw?
I'm not sure that's necessary or desired. Earlier versions of Frame used WebWorks Publisher. HTML generation is now built in. I don't know if you can even get WWP for FM10, or if it would provide any features not standard in FM10.

  • Excel issues with importing CSV or HTML table data from URL - Sharepoint? Office365?

    Greetings,
    We have a client who is having issues importing CSV or HTML table data as one would do using Excel's Web Query import from a reporting application.  As the error message provided by Excel is unhelpful I'm reaching out to anyone who can help us begin to
    troubleshoot problems affecting what is normal standard Excel functionality.  I'd attach the error screenshot, but I can't because my account is not verified....needless to say it says "Microsoft Excel cannot access  the file https://www.avantalytics.com/reporting_handler?func=wquery&format=csv&logid=XXXX&key=MD5
    Where XXXX is a number and MD5 is an md5 code.  The symptoms stated in the error message are:
    - the file name or path does not exist
    -The file is being used by another program
    -The workbook you are trying to save has the same name as a currently open workbook.
    None of these symptoms are the case, naturally. The user encountered this with Excel2010, she was then upgraded to Excel2013 and is still experiencing the same issue. The output of this URL in a browser (IE, Chrome, Firefox) is CSV data for the affected
    user, so it is not a network connectivity issue.  In our testing environment using both Excel2010 or 2013 this file is imported successfully, so we cannot replicate.  The main difference I can determine between our test environment and the end-user
    is they have a Sharepoint installation and appear to have Office365 as well.
    So,  my question might more appropriately be for Sharepoint or Office365 folks, but I can't be sure they're  a culprit.  Given this - does anyone have any knowledge of issues which might cause this with Sharepoint or Office365 integrated with
    Excel and/or have suggestions for getting more information from Excel or Windows other than this error message?  I've added the domain name as a trusted publisher in IE as I thought that might be the issue, but that hasn't solved anything.  As you
    can see its already https and there is no authentication or login - the md5 key is the authentication.  The certificate for the application endpoint is valid and registered via GoDaddy CA.
    I'm at a loss and would love some suggestions on things to check/try.
    Thanks  -Ross

    Hi Ross,
    >> In our testing environment using both Excel 2010 and 2013 this file is imported successfully, so we cannot replicate.
    I suspect it is caused by the difference of web server security settings.
    KB: Error message when you use Web query to a secure Web page (HTTPS://) in Excel: "Unable to open"
    Hope it will help.

  • Problem While exporting HTML table to Excel(.CSV) in SharePoint 2010

    Hi ,
    I was exporting HTML table to .CSV file.
    Problem is if any field contains '>' or '<' symbol then after exporting to .CSV, it was showing like '&gt' and '&lt' and the code is  as below.
    //Export HTML table to CSV
    function toCSV() {
          var data = document.getElementById('reportstable');
          var csvData = [];
          var tmpArr = [];
          var tmpStr = '';
          for (var i = 0; i < data.rows[0].cells.length; i++)
            tmpArr.push((data.rows[0].cells[i].innerText || data.rows[0].cells[i].textContent));
          csvData.push(tmpArr.join('\t'));
          for (var i = 1; i < data.rows.length; i++)
            tmpArr = [];
            for (var j = 0; j < data.rows[0].cells.length; j++)
            tmpArr.push(data.rows[i].cells[j].innerHTML);
            csvData.push(tmpArr.join('\t'));
          var output = csvData.join('\n');
          SaveContents(output);
    //For saving the file
    function SaveContents(element) {
            if (document.execCommand) {
                var oWin = window.open("about:blank","_blank");
                oWin.document.write(element);
                oWin.document.close();
                var success = oWin.document.execCommand('SaveAs', false, "FilteredReport.xls")
                oWin.close();
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi,
    According to your post, a problem occurred when you exported the HTML table to Excel(.CSV).
    The following code for your reference:
    function toCSV() {
    var data = document.getElementById('reportstable');
    var csvData = [];
    var tmpArr = [];
    var tmpStr = '';
    for (var i = 0; i < data.rows[0].cells.length; i++)
    tmpArr.push((data.rows[0].cells[i].innerText || data.rows[0].cells[i].textContent));
    csvData.push(tmpArr.join('\t'));
    for (var i = 1; i < data.rows.length; i++)
    tmpArr = [];
    for (var j = 0; j < data.rows[0].cells.length; j++)
    tmpArr.push(data.rows[i].cells[j].innerHTML);
    csvData.push(tmpArr.join('\t'));
    var output = csvData.join('\n');
    SaveContents(output.replace(/&lt;/g, '<').replace(/&gt;/g, '>'));

  • Do you need to generate HTML table rows from XML in InDesign?

    General issue: you export XML and you get a bunch of content for xml elements that were a table in inDesign. But they don't have any rows, just cell after cell. What will make rows in your output?
    Solution: XSLT; you need to use the @aid:tcols attribute of exported XML to determine the number of columns that your table should be. This is written in XSLT 1.1 so it shoud work with an export from InDesign. If you have problems with using it on export of XML, try using it on the XML afetr it has been exported, in Oxygen or other XSLT processor. Best to save acopy of your files before using the XSLT with them.  Copy all of the plain text and past into a new file, save with your own filename, ending with .xsl file extension. Then when exporting XML from InDesign CS3-5, browse to your new .xsl file and select it. PLEASE read about XSLT files at w3c.schools or other resource if you want to understand what is going on with this file.
    BTW <!-- indicates comments in code -->
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!-- NO WARRANTY that this example code will work as written for your XML file in InDesign. You can add more templates to the output to map your heading styles to h1, h2, etc. -->

  • Query results to HTML table

    I'm looking for a more efficient way to convert a query result into an HTML table so that I can paste it into an email. The procedure in sqldeveloper (version 3.1.07) is just too clunky and involves too many keystrokes and mouse clicks. And you can't save the HTML to the clipboard. (I'm talking about the "Export..." action here.)
    Am I missing something? Are there any alternatives?
    Thanks!

    ... but sqlplus is so last millenium....
    Seriously? I'm from the last millennium too, nevertheless I don't consider myself out of date
    SQL*PLUS is still my first choice when I have to run a script. I'ts behaviour is reliably the same whereever my script is executed. I would never trust a script that needs another tool to be executed.
    Generating a HTML-mail is IMHO out of scope for a database tool. It's a feature I would expect in a BI tool that specializes on reporting.

  • Safari is unable to save in HTML (source page option) offline webarchives

    Hello!
    Some years ago I made a very difficult and prolonged research: I found over 1500 web pages of medical researches and I stored it on the hard disk, using safari.
    I didn't know that its default format file is .webarchive.
    Now I have these 1500 .webarchive files and I need to use it on other PCs (also Windows and Linux systems), and they take 800 MB on my pendrive! (webarchive are bigger than imageless html files).
    I need to convert them in HTML format.
    Only 3 methods exist in the world:
    1) from terminal: textutil -convert html FILENAME.webarchive. I drag and drop 10 files a time in the webarchive window after the command string, but it converts about 5-6 files on 10: for the other it gives an error. Some files are impossible to convert using this method.
    2) WebArchive folderizer: I could drag and drop all the webarchive files on its small window: it will convert each webarchive file in a folder with the same name of the file. Then I could select all the folders, use FINDER's search function letting it find just HTML files and then move them in a folder and delete all the subfolders.
    But the HTML files extracted do not keep the original filename! This is important for me, because I need that each file must have the name of the medical research. I'll have to find (reading a list made in neooffice) the files and read them: over 1500 files, and it will need lots of time make an internal file text search method each time!
    3) Webarcher: it converts the files in .war format, not html. It is compatible with Windows, but it keeps the images, like a webarchive, and the space requied is high too.
    The method that I could use is this:
    Open the file with Safari in OSX, and re-save it in the "source page" (HTML) format... but.... SURPRISE!!!
    If I open a web-page with Safari, and I choose "save as...", it let me choose the format (html or webarchive).
    If I open a hard disk stored page with Safari, and I choose "save as...", the small menu in which I should choice the format... disappears!!!
    This happened years ago... now the OS X is newer... the Safari is newer... but the problem is the same!
    How could I solve it?
    Is this a bug?
    Thank you!

    Since Safari is able to save as HTML file a page if it is opened online (from web), making "Save as...", and it is unable to make so if the webarchive file is on the hard disk...I tried to upload on a web server some .webarchive files.
    Then I went online in the web page with the list of all the uploaded .webarchive files... (ex.: http://....filename1.webarchive, etc...)...
    My goal was to open ONLINE (not on hard disk) the files and then make "save as...",... but... SURPRISE!!! Safari is UNABLE to open a webarchive file from the web, it asks me where to save the file... it can only save it, it writes that it is an "application"...
    I think this happens because .webarchive is not a real web page but a "package"... but my displeasure is this:
    Once opened an hard disk's webarchive file, its content is loaded in ram and it appears like a normal web page (html + images + etc...)... so, in this moment, Safari should be able to save it "as...." HTML file too.... discarding images and other objects....
    Any advice?
    Thank you!!!

  • Retrieve values from a HTML table !!!

    Hi.
    How can i retrieve values from a HTML table using javascript ?
    I´m trying to use the command "document.getElementsByTagName" without success.
    Thanks in advance.
    Eduardo

    Hi, Deepu.
    I´m still with trouble in retrieving the value in HTML.
    In debug the C_CELL_ID seems to be correctly updated but
    when using the command "document.getElementById" the value is always "null".
    I implemented in the method DATA_CELL the code :
      if i_x = 3 and i_y = 2.
      C_CELL_ID             = 'zs'.
      C_CELL_CONTENT = 10.
      endif.
    And in HTML :
    var ztest = document.getElementById('zs');
    alert(ztest);
    Could you help me please.
    Many regards

  • Export to excel with javascript/vbscript or with plsql(html table)

    i have searched for a way to export data from OracleXe to excel without losing formatting .
    So far i have found 2 possible relatively easy ways that i am still researching
    (i do not include the ask tom sylk format way of exporting )
    1 to export the query to a html table, while using stylesheets for formatting
    (using microsoft specific styles)
    2. use of javascript/vbscript to fill an array and write this array to excel with use
    of visual basic for applications in excel.This also provides charting capabilities.
    I am still researching this two ways, and have
    encountered a few obstacles (help would be appreciated)
    1 the first way:
    a. create a button " export to excel"
    b. create the following pl/sql procedure:
    owa_util.mime_header('application/vnd.ms-excel');
    owa_util.http_header_close;
      HTP.PRINT('<html>');
      HTP.PRINT('<head>');
      HTP.PRINT('<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html">');
      HTP.PRINT('<title>Title of the HTML File</title>');
      HTP.PRINT('</head>');
      HTP.PRINT('<body TEXT="#000000" BGCOLOR="#FFFFFF">');
      HTP.PRINT('<h1>Heading in the HTML File</h1>');
      HTP.PRINT('<p>Some text in the HTML file.');
      HTP.PRINT('</body>');
      HTP.PRINT('</html>');
    htmldb_application.g_page_text_generated := true;
    htmldb_application.g_unrecoverable_error := true;
    c: run the procedure conditionally based on the button  "export to excel"
    the problem with this way is that using htmldb_application.g_unrecoverable_error := true; is not the ideal way, because it
    stops further processing, but if i leave it out, the export doesn't happen.
    To export to excel while retaining data formatting  you have to use microsoft excel
    specific styles(Seedocumentation on the microsoft site)
    2.The second way:
    a create a pl/sql procedure or sql query.
    b use this query to fill a vbscript/javascript array with values
    c write these values to excel with use of vba in excel :
    the obstacle i encountered here was that i dont know how to export the result of a
    query to a visual basic script or javascript array.

    Using approach 1) works fine for me.
    the problem with this way is that using htmldb_application.g_unrecoverable_error := true;
    is not the ideal way, because it
    stops further processing, but if i leave it out, the export doesn't happen. Why is this a problem?
    I created the button to export the excel file on page 1 and created your pl/sql procedure on page 2 using an onload process.
    Works fine.
    Other approaches for exporting to excel are:

  • How I can save an existed Table "exactly" into an Excel or a Text file?

    I am able to save from a Table into an Excel file, but I could not put in it the following:
    a)Column Headers
    b)First column should be integer
    c)The Scientific notation (supposed to be with 6 decimal point) but it shows only two decimal point
    d)In the last 3 rows, it couldn't understand --> it showed Zero's
    ***> It shows better when I changed the data.xls to data.txt ... only solved c)
    ***> You cam modify completely how to write into the Excel or Text file ... but do not change the way I write to the TABLE (I have "no choice" to keep it that way!)
    Attachments:
    Write_Table.vi ‏51 KB

    First of all, the Write to Spreadsheet File function does not create an Excel file. It creates a text file with values separated by a delimiter. Excel is capable of recognizing tabs and commas as delimiters and will convert the text into a spreadsheet.
    Most of your problems can be solved by converting Write to Spreadsheet to accept arrays of strings instead of arrays of numbers and adding the column headers to the array. You'll probably have to experiment with the Excel import function as well.
    Thye best way, however to get exactly what you want into Excel is to use ActiveX. There is an example the4 comes with LabVIEW that shows some of the basics. You can find other examples by searching the Developers Zone. NI also sells a toolkit for reading/
    writing Excel and Word files.

    Hi, Do you mean to say,
    You have an HTML page in which you have a text field and an add button. If you enter anything in that text field and click on Add button the text field contents should be displayed in the same HTML page and you should be able to go on entering new values into the text field and you should be able to retain and display all the previously entered values..
    and finally the list of added items are not stored in the database..
    If this is the case
    i. Your html form should be submitted to the same page.
    ii. You need to have a Vector which holds the entered values.
    iii. Bind the vector object to the request object and collect the same vector object from the request and display its contents...
    I think this would help...

    Hi Brian,
    OAF supports the master-detail based design. You can very well implement your model. You can use 2 VO for your 2 objects and link them using a ViewLink. Check OAF Dev guide for more details.

  • How to read the content of HTML table

    Hi All,
    I would like to retrieve the content of the following HTML table and is wondering whether there are any libraries/jars that could do the job easily without having to write a parser possibly in XSLT:
    <td class="propType"><b>Address</b></td>
                            <td class="propType"><b>Company</b></td>
                            <td class="propType"><b>Department</b></td>
                            <td class="propType" align="right"><b>Employee</b></td>
                                    <td colspan="6"><strong class="propType">
                                    <td><strong>Firstname</strong></td>
                                    <td><strong>Surname</strong></td>
                                    <td><strong>DOB</strong></td>
                                    <td><strong>Sex</strong></td>
                                    <td class="even">John</td>
                                    <td class="even">Smith</td>
                                    <td class="even">01/02/2001</td>
                                    <td class="even">Male</td>One awkard method is by using the stringbuffer as follows:
    String greaterthanSignedList[] = greaterthanSigned.split(">")
    to pickup all the text that comes after the greater than (ie ">" sign)...
    String lessthanSignedList[] = lessthanSigned.split("</"</" sign) ...
    However, I am sure that there must be an easier way to do this such as using existing SAX/DOM/XSLT.. jars to retrieve these values quickly.
    Many thanks,
    Jack

    Hi,
    I am wondering if you could be a little patient with your guidance in this area. Perhaps a few points on what are some of the classes that should be used. Even an example would be terrific, if possible.
    I have slowly weighing through 2 books - Learning XML by Erik T. Ray (http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/learnxml2/toc.html) and Java & XML by Brett D. McLaughlin & Justin Edelson (http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/9780596101497/toc.html) but would like to dwell into the relevant chapter and by pass anything else that is not relevant to my current in the XML area in order to fast track development.
    I am new to XML and would very much appreciate if you could point to the area of specific to focus on getting this job done only.
    Many thanks again,
    Jack

    Hi there!

    example:

    cell1.innerHTML ="<tr><td><Input type=\"hidden\" >>>name=\"rowNum\" value="+cnt"+></td></tr>";
