Save as word

Hello,
We just bought a new macbook pro, and one of the first purchases we made was Pages'11.  I am finding that while it "can" create word documents, when I open them on the PC the formatting is just off.  These are not fancy documents we are creating, just a resume.  I feel uneasy about using Pages to send out a resume as most people use Word, and if the formatting is off, the resume will not be judged fairly.
Is the only solution to now buy Office for the Mac?  Another mac user told me that while Pages is a powerful program, to "work with outside world" we must conform and use office.  Is this true?

As far as I know, this app doesn't exist.

    Easiest way with Acrobat pro, is save the Word document, then convert the document to PDF with Acrobat, rather than doing a "save as" in Word itself to PDF.
    Do you have Acrobat full version or Pro?

  • Save as Word working in Standard but not Pro

    Hello,
    Our firm runs Adobe Professional 9.0 and Adobe Standard 10.
    We have a scanned PDF with paragraph text.
    In Standard, we can save it as a Word Document and the text in Word is editable.
    In Professional, we save it as a Word Document and Word shows an image of the scanned PDF.
    Questions...
    Is this normal? Why would Standard work and not Professional? Could you do this on older verions of Adobe.

    Yes I saw that feature. The problem is that the OCR does a poorer job of keeping the origianal layout.
    Are you saying Standard will save to Word because it doesn't have OCR?
    I'm confused why a feature would work on Standard and not Pro.

  • Reader enabled PDF won't save to Word

    Hi,
    I'm sorry if I'm not putting this question in the right place, but I can't find a better location.
    We have a PDF that's reader enabled for editing with the typewriter tool, and we want to save it as a Word document.  Whenever File > Save as >  Word doc is clicked, we get a message that Acrobat has stopped working.  This is only with this particular PDF, as we've tried 'plain' ones that converted beautifully.
    How can I save the reader-enabled PDF as a plain PDF?

    There is no 'Save a copy' in the File menu; maybe that option is just in
    Acrobat, not Reader.  I solved it, though; what I did was print to Adobe
    PDF.  As we know, that doesn't actually print anything, it just saves; and
    it was saved as a plain PDF!  Well, that was a lesson learned...and enabled
    PDF cannot be converted.

    I have a suspicion you're working with a scanned document that has had OCR run to recognize the text. The recognized text may be stored on an invisible layer above the image of the text, and that is what you're toucing up. It's invisible, so you don't see it, but retains the changes, so exporting produces the new edits.
    When you run OCR to recognize scanned text,, try using the ClearScan option, instead of Searchable Text. See this help page on Acrobat (this is for version X, but still applies):

    Send a file with the screen errors and system data . Also send a couple of files PDF.
    Translates only txt format.

  • Pages and Automator - simultaneously save as Word

    Okay, we can export as MS Word but my wife wants to be able to do it simultaneously AND have the file saved to a specific folder for Word files.
    This sounds to me like something Automator might be able to do - has anyone had any luck with this specific issue or with Automator scripts in general for Pages 09?

    Well, I got a sort of solution with which my wife is reasonably happy. When she 'saved as' she would end up with multiple copies of the Word file.

    - she can click the Applescript link to save as Word in the background. A folder action in Hazel then moves all files with a .doc extension to a specific folder. She seems happy enough so problem (sort of) solved.

    I'm trying to like Pages in lieu of my long use of Appleworks, but I can't figure out how to do a document in Pages and save it as Word. I do this all the time in Appleworks to interface with the PC folks, but I can't seem to find out how to do it in Pages.     A user coming from the old OS9 days would certainly have a problem because "Save As..." used to be a complex dialog that would have tons of options. "Save As..." with most OSX apps is now the simple dialog that allows you to save the current doc with a different name and "Export" is where all the complex stuff goes.
    I have some apps that don't follow this, but these are meant to open old OS9 formats so many of the users may still be more familiar with OS9 conventions.

    Whenever I try to save a pdf to WORD, POWERPOINT OR HTML page I get this error --- Save As failed to process this document. No file was created.

  • Save as Word from a fillable PDF form - information missing from cells

    I have created fillable forms in InDesign (6) and then exported these as PDF.  I have opened the PDF in Acrobat X Pro as fillable forms and resaved.  I reopen the file and complete the forms then resave followed by a "Save As" Word Doc.  When I open the Word document all of the information created in InDesign is there but none of the information that was inserted into the fillable form cells appears.  How do I save as with ALL of the information in the Word document?

    The basic idea is that we are sending staff out to do inspections of locations looking at very specific pieces of information that needs to be captured.  It's a series of about 80 +/- questions and observations.  Some are simple "check the box" and others are write a paragraph describing something.  It needs to follow a specific format in a specific order.  This will be repeated at multiple locations.  The information is then brought back, reviewed and analyzied followed by a report to the client on the work.  Client wants it back to them in a Word document.

    Reader is unable to create PDF files. You must be using some other product, and therefore should post your question in that product's forums.

    For archiving purposes, I'm betting PDFs will be readable (backwards compatible) long after my current file saved in Microsoft Word becomes out of date. Anyone know of a way I can save my Word file as a PDF while retaining the original Word file last-modified date (for patent protection reasons to prove date of authorship)? (or Word to text file or ASCII file would also be equivalent as long as original date is kept)

    I doubt that a computer date would suffice for legal proof of date. It is easily changed for those that know their way around the computer. I would have to play a bit, but could probably do it without too much trouble. About the only way to satisfy the need for a patent is to properly insert the pages in a patent notebook and get the information notorized. From what I have seen, the legal profession generally requires hard copy, not a computer file. A loose-leaf form is also typically not acceptable, but a bound notebook properly annotated. The notorized aspect is a way around some of this I think. In any case, it sounds like you need to consult a patent attorney.

    because as I understand it, this is a RoboHelp for Word project.
    Folks, I know it appears to be a seductive thing to want to
    try and do. I'm talking about the desire of "sticking with the
    Devil you know" meaning Word.
    If you are creating WebHelp output, it would behoove you to
    at least give RoboHelp HTML a once over. The editing interface is
    very "Word like". You will find that a great many things you
    struggle with Word over disappear in RoboHelp HTML.
