Save data while closing Flex mobile application using HTTPService

On close of the Flex mobile application I need to save some information to the back-end by using HTTPService.
On creationComplete() of the application I am adding :
NativeApplication.nativeApplication.addEventListener(Event.EXITING, onExit);
On close of the mob application, the following method will get call.
private function onExit(e:Event):void
    httpServiceCall("log event data");
The request itself is not reaching backend. I have tested this by installing Wireshark, there is no entry if I close the application in wireshark(wireshark will just catch any kind of requests from frontend to backend).
I am introducing delay to achieve this :
public var closeTimer:Timer;
            private function onExit(e:Event):void
                e.stopImmediatePropagation();
               httpServiceCall("log event data");
                closeTimer = new Timer(3000,1);
                closeTimer.addEventListener(TimerEvent.TIMER_COMPLETE, closeApp);
                closeTimer.start();
            protected function closeApp(event:Event):void{
                NativeApplication.nativeApplication.exit();
The above code is not working. As soon as control comes to onExit() method, application is closing.
According to my understanding, I have to introducesome delay before closing the application to achieve this requirement. How can I introduce delay in this case?

Try opening Task Monitor and killing any existing "adl" process before launching.
Does this help ?

  • Closing FLEX current application using AS

    I use the following code to close the current application using Action Script and JavaScript:
    var urlString:String = "javascript:window.opener = self; self.close();";
    var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest(urlString);
    navigateToURL(request, "_self");
    Then I got the message: SecurityError: Error #2121: Security sandbox violation: navigateToURL
    Is there a way to solve the problem or should I use another way to close the current application from AS.

  • Is there a way to save data to just one view in Flex Mobile applications?

    I am having trouble handling data between views in a Flex Mobile application that I am writing. I know how to pass data from one view to another, but I was wondering if there is a way to save that data to a view, then get more data from another view (in this case it would be the same view that the original data came from) and put that data on the same view without overwriting the original data. I would be glad to post some code if anyone needs to see it.

    I think we realise that this is the same question as the other thread.

  • What is the best font to use for Thai Language in Flex Mobile Applications ?

    Hi
    I am facing issues with Thai language in flex mobile applications. I am using Tahoma font and facing issues in TextInput
    Whith Tahoma font text Offset setting to far from the starting of the text input .
    Can any one suggest me the best font to use with Thai language ?
    Many thanks in advance for your help .

    Personally, I prefer uncompressed TIFF or PNG.  But many times it won't matter ... you'll be dropping the images into an SD Sequence, so they will lose resolution on output.

  • Issues with file upload in flex mobile application (sharepoint as backend)

    Hello,
    I am working on flex mobile application for android platform for which we are having sharepoint as a backend.
    (Flex SDK 4.6 and AIR 3.9)
    Issue which we are facing is as follows:
    We are communicating with the backend server using webservices: example:
    <s:WebService id="kWebService" wsdl="http://www.kservice.net/kdatabaseservice.asmx?WSDL" >
                <s:operation name="AddPost"
                             resultFormat="object"
                             result="addPostResult(event)"
                             fault="postsfaulterr(event)" />
    </s:WebService>
    Above services are working fine but we are facing issue with one service which is related to file upload.
    File upload for <10 MB is working fine but when we try to upload larger file on server it fails to process.
    We are sending bytearray to the backend and backend code is writing those bytearray into file.
    We have tried many ways to overcome from this situation. like we have checked configuration for file upload size on server , we have tried wcf services as well. Please help us on this criticle point as soon as possible
    Thanks

    What do you mean that my video saves the contents int he server and not in transparent table?  I save the data into a temporary database table so it can be accessed by the parent WDA session. From there the WDA session can do whatever it wants with it.  What do you mean by transparent table - that would be a database table. Do you actually mean internal table?  if so, just read the data from the temporary database table into memory.

    I want to run some code just before iphone application goes into background. I need function similar to didEnterBackground

    I tried using devactivated function of flash.display.STAGE.
    I used following addEventListener:

    STAGE.addEventListener(Event.DEACTIVATE, onAppDeactivated);
    It worked for me but only when device is connected to development environment in debug mode. When I create my release build

  • Issues in ADF mobile application using Trinidad components

    I am facing the following issues when developing a mobile application using trinidad components :
    Jdev version : 11.1.1.6
    1) I dont see a date component using trinidad components? The dev guide http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/web.1111/e10140/sup_comp.htm says that tr:inputDate is supported but when i try to drag a data field to jsf page i don't see an option for Trinidad date component. so i went ahead and created an af:inputDate in the page. But the date selection dialog doesnt open up.
    2) i tried using 'Rendered' for conditional rendering of a component but it does not work or refresh immediately, the same problem is solved in my adf application using visible property but looks like there is no 'Visible' property for Trinidad components. any work around?
    3) i wanted to have a 'create insert' call in my task flow before launching the page. Since Task flows are not supported in ADF mobile application, i have added 'ADF Faces' also into my project and created task flow and jsff page as i do for a adf web application the only diff being the usage of trinidad components in my jsff page. is this fine? Also can we mix trinidad components and adf components into the same page?
    4) I have a tr:inputText on a clob input text field which i am updating in ADF page using a clob converter class. Same thing i cannot do for trinidad text as it is resulting in null pointer exception. any solution to update clob fields into database which uses tr:inputText compents.
    Help to solve any one of the above issues (by quoting serial no) would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Flex Mobile Application with online database

    Hi,
    I would like to create a Flex Mobile Application but this one have to be read/connect  to a online database ?
    I don't found any tuto or infos about that...
    Could you please tell me if it's possible and if yes, how to do that
    Thanks in advance !

    I don't understand one thing...
    There are different type to do a connection between Flex and PHP.
    Which one is the best ?
    1. With AMF (Flex :  service-config.xml, RemoteObject) (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flex/articles/crud_flex_php_zend.html)
    2. With Zend Framework (Flex : Callresponder, Time,...)  already included in Flash Builder 4.5 (http://devzone.zend.com/1701/flex-and-zend-framework_part-1/)
    3. With Zend Server and Flash Builder 4.5 with PHP (http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash-builder/articles/flashbuilder-php-part1.html)
    It's three differents approach but in 2 & 3, it's auto configured with Flex.. however to do a connection between Flex Mobile & PHP (online), I have to use the solution 1
    So, if somebody can help me to explain and understand the difference between that.
    thanks

  • Flash Builder 4.5: debugging Flex Mobile application on Android Virtual Device

    Hi,
    we are trying without success to debug a flex mobile application in Flash Builder 4.5 on an Android Virtual Device (AVD).
    We can debug with real Android devices via Flash Builder 4.5, by using a standard Mobile Application debug configuration with "On device" launch method, but emulated devices are not listed in the "Choose device" Flash Builder 4.5 window.
    The emulated device is correctly listed by "adb" command line tool, as the following screenshot shows:
    c:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Flash Builder 4.5\sdks\4.5.0\lib\android\bin\adb" devices
    List of devices attached
    emulator-5554   device
    ("emulator-5554" has been created and started with Android AVD Manager standard Eclipse plug-in)
    By using the adb command-line tool we can also install applications on the emulated device, but we'd like to use Flash Builder 4.5 directly, without manually using adb.
    Many thanks in advance for any direction.
    PS: we can debug with Flash Builder "internal" android emulator (the one used with "On desktop" launch method), but we want to use the more "realistics" android emulated devices provided by Android SDK (Android Virtual Device (AVD)).

    well that's just ... oh what's the word I'm looking for? ... um ... ah yes - inconvenient.
    I've been wrestling with this too. I use VDs with eclipse all the time, I'm wondering why it's not supported in flashbuilder. I mean, it's just a VD that runs on a virtual port, plugs into the editor like a read device would - right?
    I'm going to take a wild stab at this and say it probably has something to do with running a program inside (Air) a virtual machine, running inside a virtual machine inside a virtual device?

  • How to create and save a file in flex web application ?

    Hi,
          I want to create and save a file form flex web application. Is it possible ?
    I have done some googling and found that its only possible through file referece, which needs some serverside implementation be called.
    Is it not possible with file reference to create and save file directly ?
    Can any one suggest how to over come this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Alex,
    code written with the Flex Builder 3 libraries will certainly run in Flash Player 10. However, what you need is not so much the capabilities of FP10 but the library functionalities of the Flex 4 package. And I think that Flex 4 code will only run in FP10 and not 9 (but haven't tested this as at work we have not yet been permitted to upgrade, so there is not a lot of point going for Flex 4!).

  • Optimizing Flex Mobile Applications(not Games)

    I have now been developing aplications for Mobile devices using Flex framework for quite a  while and published 3-4 apps to marketplaces. But if we see the performance of the AIR apps as compared to the Native ones, its still not that much smooth.
    Any idea how I can optimize the Flex applications? There are resources avaialable for optimizing games but in case of Apps it is something different. The issues are like, buttons are not sometimes that much responsive to touch events, the screen transitions are not that smooth etc.
    Also I would like to know how to create Apps using only ActionScript as I guess they might be smoother as compared to the Flex version. But if it is created using AS3 only, how to best manage the screens so that they don't take up too much memory and give native like performance.

    You can't achieve native performance in most situations. Doing anything ARM/Flash-centric you will always find spark native components are slower than their native counterparts. Even hand-coding them (e.g. blitting) will get you no more performance, just more lines of code and more headaches.
    This should be obvious.
    Aside that you need to weigh in that the code base you build for your app can mostly be used to output an app for several other targets (if you speak XCode). AIR for IOS, Android and Blackberry. That's both phones and tablets. Also Desktop Mac OSX and Windows as well as the Web (without AIR).
    So if you want native performance, be prepared to build your app from scratch several times. The performance loss of going the Adobe route gives you the flexibility of exporting your app to multiple targets. That justifies the so-called "boggy" performance for me and my multi-billion dollar clients.

  • How to get pop up window in mobile application using jquery

    i am trying to implement jquery in my mobile application.iam not getting how to get a popup window

    Ram,
    Write ur code in event <b>AT USER-COMMAND.</b> Create ur own screen and call that screen for example call screen 100 at 10 10. And after entering the date call the secondary screen.
    AT USER-COMMAND.
    Effect
    Event in interactive reporting
    This event is executed whenever the user presses a function key in the list or makes an entry in the command field.
    Some functions are executed directly by the system and thus cannot be processed by programs. These include:
    PICK
    See variant AT LINE-SELECTION
    PFn
    See variant AT PFn
    System command
    System command
    PRI
    Print
    BACK
    Back
    RW
    Cancel
    P...
    Scroll function (e.g.: P+ , P- , PP+3, PS-- etc.)
    Instead of this functions, you can use the SCROLL statement in programs.
    Since many of these system functions begin with "P", you should avoid using this letter to start your own function codes.
    Otherwise, the effect is as for AT LINE-SELECTION; also, the current function code is stored in the system field SY-UCOMM.

    Prakash.
