Save page layouts

How about an option in the print module to save the single page layout with a permanent link to the photos included?
That would enable you to work out a layout and print size for each photo before you even start with your usual workflow (develop, crop, etc...). You could also prepare multiple photos for print in different formats while you are not even near a printer. After you are back in the office, just connect the printer, open up the saved lay-outs and sent out the print jobs. That should save quite some time, I think....

If you make a second dummy website you can use it to "store" pages in progress until you are ready to add them to your website.
Another option is if the page has no links to it then it does not matter - just leave the page non-linkable until you are ready to use it

  • Is there any way to select a page layout and save it to the 'Add Pages' menu bar on the left of IBA?

    This would be extremely helpful as there is no way in IBA 1 to copy and paste 'lines' from one page to another.

    Look at the steps in my first reply to open the LAYOUT page by dragging the BOOK page slider down ... do this in the Life on Earth Template.  click on the  2 column template page to  open it.
    Select ONLY the lines you want. Remember toi  open the Inspector at LAYOUT, second icon from left, and with teh lines selected, tick the Layout Object box ro  enable ediiting, COPY the lines you want, open your Contempory based book.
    Follow the above procdure COPY the  2 col layout page and rename it, Open the  page and paste the lines you copied. They should  drop into place and then you should unclick the Layout object editable tag.
    If you complete this, it does mean you have to copy all your work into this new page layout.
    Another alternative is simply to add lines from the Shapes,  you can  size then ( length and thickness) and  select whatever colour and opacity you prefer, do it on one page and copy and paste to all the othe pages.
    Spend some time playing with teh  layour  pages and changing things.. adding or changing  background images styles etc,.  Once you have  "the knack" an owd Manchester term  - you can customise a basic template to suit your  needs.

  • Can I mix Pages page layout and word processing together in one document?

    Hello there ! I am quite new to Pages and I am desperate to learn as i want to get rid of everything being Microsoft
    As you all know when you open Pages you can choose between page layout and word processing !
    the thing is i thought that after using a page layout you could just go with word processing easily... well no, you can't, but i'm sure i'm missing something...
    For exemple i really like the catalogue brochure and it would be perfect for me to start a project... but after a few pages, i can just add blank pages and if i want to type text, i have to add text boxes... i don't want that, I want word processing... and another thing in this brochure i can't add table of content because it is not by default in the template...
    So my question is quite basic here, can we link Page layout and word processing without having to use text boxes and everything ?

    Welcome to Apple discussions.
    The simple answer is no. What differentiates page layout from word processing mode is that the PL mode has no text layer. So everything that goes on the page must be an object of some kind. And any pages you add to a PL document must also be PL. You can't mix the two modes. One way around it is to start with a blank page, insert a text box, then stretch the box so that it covers the entire page. You can the type in it as if it were a text layer in a WP file. You can even capture that page so that you can add it automatically when you need it, or save it as a template.
    As for building a Table of Contents, it appears that Pages only sees text styles that are on the text layer, which means it won't see styles that are in objects -- which means it won't work with a PL document. From being a long-time reader of this discussion group, I've noticed it's rare that someone wants to add a ToC to a PL document.
    If you find that you're going to be mixing text and graphics, start with a word processing template. If you really like the Catalog Brochure, you could always copy some or all of its elements over to a blank WP template.

  • SharePoint Bug? Conflict Error when saving a Page with a "Required" DateTime field in the page layout

    I've just recently encountered a weird error / bug in SharePoint. Here is the scenario:
    - I have a custom column "Test Date" that is of DateTime field type. The field is configured as REQUIRED.
    - It is added to a custom Content Type "Test CT" that is based on a "Publishing Page" content type
    - I have created a Page Layout "Test PL" which is based on that particular content type.
    Now here is what happens:
    1. I try to create a page based on both that Content Type and Page Layout in the Pages Library. I manage to create it successfully.
    2. However, when I go to try and edit the page, fill-in the required values and try to save it using the PAGE TAB -> SAVE BUTTON, I get the below error/s. Note that this happens no matter what I choose in the drop-down menu for Save Button.
    "The file XXX has been modified by USER on DATE"
    But I know I am the ONLY user modifying the page. 
    If I try to save again it gives me options to whether Discard my Changes, Keep Editing, Overwrite Changes, or Merge.
    3. HOWEVER, if I use the Save button on the UPPER RIGHT corner of the screen (the shortcut). I am able to save successfully without any errors!
    The only thing I've tried that made it work was if I made the DateTime OPTIONAL. But I need it to be REQUIRED.
    Is there any workaround to this error / bug?

    I have some additional info but nothing really good. 
    If you click the Save in the left side of the Ribbon then it looks like that is when you get the message. If you click the Save in the top right corner you won't get the message. They must be calling different saving functions. 
    There really is no way around it other than making the field optional which probably removes some server side validation checks causing that message.
    We've chosen to remove that field from the page as I needed it required, then they can't publish the page until they go to the properties and set the article date. By removing the field from the page layout the message goes away.
    I hope MS will fix this at some point.

    I have created a custom page layout in my site collec. using VS 2012 and deployed am able to see the page in the pages lib [inbox.aspx].
    Here, I have added a page viewer web part and I want to redirect to another application page, which is already coded [inboxredirect.aspx] in my solution[its another dll - another SP solution which has appln pages and web parts
    etc - ] 
    The issue is that, i am unable to see the page viewer web part when the page is displayed. inbox.aspx is a page which is created once my custompagelayouts solution is deployed and when i navigate to this page, i am stuck . i am getting
    the  " access denied " message is displayed.  
    can anyone help why this  error is displayed?
    in my inboxredirect.aspx page i am inherting from unsecuredlayoutspagebase class, so  i dont think , access denied message should come.

  • Multiple Page Contents Page Fields In Custom Page Layout SP2013

    I'm rather new so bare with me.  I'm trying to add multiple page content page fields with snippets to a custom page layout html file in SP2013 Designer.  Once I add the snippet and publish, I review the page and any text written
    in the last created page content box saves for both page content boxes instead of saving unique text in both.  How do you change the snippets to where they are unique snippets and won't be referenced as the same one? 
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • How can I insert multiple page contents in the page layout properly?

    I wanted to create 4 columns on the page layout. These 4 columns are of page contents.
    After creating new web page based on that page layout, I attempted to enter 4 different inputs on all 4 columns.
    Then, the result (from all columns) becomes the same.

    The 4 columns for Page Contents appeared on the web page when I created new page using that page layout. But the problem is that all 4 columns displayed the same result from 4th column.

  • My Adobe XI software no longer converts Word to PDF files with hyperlinks or page layout preserved.

    Is anyone else having the same problem where the initial installation worked fine and over time, you are no longer able to adjust the setting in the 'convert to PDF' menu for Word documents?  I am now faced with Word documents that lose their hyperlinks on conversion and when there are changes in page orientation (e.g., portrait to landscape and back again), the software creates sub files for each kind of page layout.  In a word, the software has become useless.  What can I do to fix this?

    In order to preserve links on Mac Word to PDF. You need to do as follows (note this only preserves links created by Word's auto Correct. Not by Word's URL Creator.)
    Method #1
    Create Document save as .docx as backup.
    Go to File Menu > Print
    Click and hold the PDF button, a Context menu appears.
    Choose Adobe Quality PDF, or Adobe PDF (depends upon Version of Mac OS X)
    First Choose quality (similar to Job Options in Distiller) and whether to open using Acrobat Or Reader.
    Next a Title will appear. (in format "microsoft.nameoffle.docx.pdf").
    You can leave file name as is or remove the Microsoft and the .docx from the Name
    Save File.
    This method also will print pdf, even if it has section and Page breaks except when there is orientation change from Portrait, or landscape.
    Method #2
    Do step 1 above.
    Locate the file Created.
    Drag the file either on top the actual Application or its Icon in the Dock.
    Wait ......
    When Acrobat opens Immediately save.
    Again all links created with Auto-correct will be live.
    And pages will be intact in the PDF except when there is a Change in orientation.
    Auto correct will create links/URL's  when you type such the will automatically turn blue and become underlined. And clicking on the in the word Document  will go to the link.
    What does not work until Adobe fixes a 10-15 year old bug is where you select word then go to Insert menu> URL. A window opens and you choose the link or email, in the URL Creator.
    Also the Bug where changes in section, and pages breaks cause new PDF that have to be put together has not been completely cured. (Still splits when orientation changes.) Has been proved by Microsoft to be a Bug Adobe can't or won't fix. You simply take a Mac Word File open it in the PC version and create a PDF. And works perfect.

  • Switching between page layout and word processing

    I can't seem to switch between page layout and word processing view.  I've read all the posts on this and still can't figure out why I can't just type a document into Pages.  The only option I have in page layout view is to type into text boxes, which is not what I want.  I just want to type a letter for crying out loud.
    Before I get all the rants about reading User Guides, etc.  *I have*.  I've also searched on here and in-app help and just don't understand the fuzzy/non-existant answers.  Obviously, I'm a newbie, so please don't jump all over me for this.  If it was Word - I could do this in NO time.  I just find it incredibly frustrating that inputting a normal document should be so difficult.
    Is "Pages" *not* a word processing program?  Is it just a cut and paste application?  Sorry for the tone - I mean no disrespect - it's just that I've been fooling around with this for DAYS and I just don't have time to spare anymore.  I really need to get this done.
    Can somebody give me a straightforward answer on how to just type a normal document into pages without using text boxes?

    I'm new to BO, so I don't know whether I'm giving required information or not. We integrated BO with our product.Following are the configuration details.
    Server: win2k3 sp2
    DataBase: Embedded Sybase SQL
    Clinet: winxp sp3(Chinese) + FF3.6.8
    I logged in to BO InfoView with Chinese language as "Product Locale". Went to InfoView Page Layout Page , selected Save As option. Now I can see some garbage characters along with some Chinese characters in the Title text field. I want to eliminate those garbage characters.
    I want to know the following.
    1. what could be the reason to get such type of garbage characters there ?
    2. How to eliminate them ?
    3.Are we missing any required data while integrating BO with our product due to which this problem comes ?

  • Use of AppendOnlyHistory Control in a Page Layout

    Hi,
    I got a multiline text field in SharePoint 2010 with Append Changes to Existing Text applied. Now I'm trying to use this field in a Page Layout. I have added the field to the Content Type and on the Page Layout I've added a AppendOnlyHistory Control.

    This works fine in display mode and I can see all my comments and who made them and when. But as soon as I edit the page the field is not displayed. Also if I save my page there will be a new comment added with the same text as the last comment.
    A field with Append Changes to Existing works such that you need to have versioning enabled on the list and then when you show the appended comments you actually only show the versions. I guess that's why the same text gets appended every time I save
    the page. It takes the current value stored in my field and then append it again.
    However if I go to Edit Properties on the page instead of editing the page, I get the field included in the form and I can add my own comment.
    AppendOnlyHistory has a Property called ControlMode that I should be able to set to Display, Edit. But it doesn't matter what I set this to or if I set it. The same result will happen anyway.
    Maybe I'm supposed to use a standard FormField or NoteField Control instead of AppendOnlyText, but I havn't managed to get that to work either. If I use a FormField, when in edit mode I will see the field and be able to add a comment the right way,
    but the field will be pre populated with my last comment added.
    Anyone got any conclusions on this?

  • Creating Page Layout Problem : Page Content Disappears

    Hello,
    I am a recent grad and new to the world of Sharepoint and ASP.
    I created a Page Layout with 3 columns and I implemented the 'Page Content' in each column.
    When I enter anything ( Text or HTML)  in the Page Content and save, it immediately discards what I entered and saved.
    What am I doing wrong?

    According to your post, my understanding is that Page Content Disappears after you save the created Page Layout.
    The issues is caused by that Page Layout is not assocaited with the content type.
    Please make sure you create Page Layout correctly. You can refer to:

    This thread started as a "how to make search results look like google" but after getting more familiar with search I started to realize that the KD is (to a certain extent) disconnected from the search results look and feel and that both would have to be tweaked.     Once you get the colors right things still look a little "not quite google". The next set of changes will hopefully fix that a bit.

    1) Move the file type icon to the right side of the result title<BR>
    Search for: p class="ali-kd-docs-title" <BR> within your searchresultslayout.html file and move the line that says <pt:core.html pt:tag="img" src="$result.icon" alt="$htmlEncodedName"/> from the start of that section to the end.

    2) Add a space between search results<BR>
    Search in your searchresultslayout.html file for "ali-search-results-modified", go down about 10 lines and you should be at a close tr tag: this is the end of your results row and where you want to add the space. Add another TR like so:
    <tr><pt:core.comment><!-- The purpose of this TR is to add space between search entries --></pt:core.comment>
       <td colspan="2">img alt="" src="http://yourserver/imageserver/plumtree/images/spacer.gif" width="1" height="1" border="0" </td>
    </tr><BR><BR>
    That will get your results pretty darn close to google and probably make your users quite happy.

    The KD Pagination is in a column vs the search results page where it is in a row at the very bottom of the page.
    This looks like an innocent mistake because the fix to make them identical involves moving a single close div tag!
    To make the pagination move to the bottom of the page and into a row (just like search does it) go into your knowledgedirectorylayout.html file and search for <div id="ali-kd-pagenav">
    directly above this is a close div tag for the id="ali-kd-documents". Simply move that close tag beneath the ali-kd-pagenav and restart your IIS and voila! just like search results:)

  • Different page layout from template?

    In the new Pages with Maverick I can't find a way to use a different page layout from a template than the two layouts in miniature by default. Have you found a way?

    The templates doesn't have several different pages layouts anymore, which they had in Pages 09. Pages 5.0 is a very strpied down Pages. You could say Pages very Lite should be the name.
    What you could try is open the old Pages 09 ( in the application folder > iWork 09 folder) the templates you like. Add the different page layouts in templates so they not are hidden. Save as a documents. Now open them in Pages 5.0 and save as templates.

  • IPhoto book page layout

    I used a 3 photo page layout with a caption but only want one photo to print. I placed the photo and left the other spaces blank. Will the page print white where I didn't place the photos, or with gray boxes as shown on the layout? I don't a full page photo as shown with the 1 photo layout, so I'm using this as a workaround.

    You must have photos placed in all positions to order a book - you can to a page in other software (pages, MS word, Pagemaker, etc) and do a print to PDF using the send PDF to iPhoto option to make a full page image exactly like you want for your book - see Old Toad's tutorial #19 for details - http://web.me.com/toad.hall/NewTutorials/main19.html
