Save Webi Document Locally

Hello All,
I'm using BO XI 3.1 SP3.
What API/Class should I use to retrieve a Webi document from the CMS and then save it locally? I understand how to query for reports, modify them, and then save back to the CMS with the DocumentInstance object. However, I'd like to save it locally as a .wid file.
Thank you,
Mark

Yes that is it.
I didn't realize that I was getting a RemoteFile object from the CMS till I looked at it in the debugger. I was thinking that I had to get an ILocalFile somehow, and that obviously was not working.
Thanks for the suggestion. It caused me to look deeper and realize my error.
Regards,
Mark

  • What is the best process for creating a webi document?

I inherited a BI 4.0 environment with published repositories, dashboards, and webi documents.
For development purposes, I tried creating the webi document local to my machine (due to how slow it was to create the document using BILaunch pad and/or the webi rich client on the "console")
I created it as 'standalone, pointing to a local universe'; however, I can't figure out a way to move it back into my enterprise world.
I was able to convert and publish the local universe to my enterprise repository; however, because I created the document in standalone mode, it doesn't appear to want to let me change the data source to a universe.
So right now .. I have a webi document that won't let me select a universe for a data source.
Any help or proven methods for creating documents then moving them to an enterprise environment would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

I don't think Acrobat, or the Acrobat SDK can help you. Acrobat cannot be run on a server.

  • Save As window comes up when saving a WebI document another user modified

When trying to save a Web Intelligence document in the "Web" mode (not the java "Rich Internet Application" mode), users get a "Save As" window if another user was the last one to save the document.  The user can simply select the same location and "overwrite" the existing report.  They can also use the Rich Internet Application mode instead, since this does not have the same issue.  After that, the same user can continue to save the report as usual, until another user saves it.  The user has full control permissions to the document and to the folder.
This doesn't seem like it would be a big deal, but most of our users access reports using hyperlinks from other websites, which opens the document directly in the web mode; and they just make simple changes like selecting a different value in an input control.  If the Save As window comes up, it takes them to their Favorites folder, and they usually don't know which public folder the report is stored in.

I can not print anything from Firefox but on IE everything prints just fine. I happen to like Firefox a whole lot better so would appreciate a solution to my problem.

    Hi muttleytm,
The official download is not bundled with the toolbar. [https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/]
Reset the printing settings/preferences with this :[[Fix printing problems in Firefox]] ]
And you can try to disable the toolbar temporarily or try safe mode if there are other add ons installed: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]]

  • Schedule webi document to printer and save the output in shared drive

    Hi all,
Is it possible to schedule a webi document via java BOE SDK, run at once, save the output in pdf format in a shared drive and at the same time, send the output to printer? Or I need to run the webi document to run 2 times? Thanks.
    Best regards,

    Hi Adam,
How about can I schedule a webi document to printer only? In Crystal report, I can do this but seems for webi, no such function?

  • I can't save *new* documents back to SharePoint

I can’t save *new* documents back to SharePoint. We have a SharePoint 2013 development environment, running on Windows Server 2012 and a Windows 7 Client Computer with Office 2010.
Every time I click „new document“, SharePoint opens the corresponding template file in the client application (Word, Excel,…) So far, so good. When i select „Save“, the client application brings up a local save path on the client computer, not the SharePoint
    document library.
I did some research and tried many approaches, but none of them worked.
I installed the Desktop Experience Feature on the Windows Server 2012, added the server address to trusted sites, gave the user farm-administrator rights (to make sure it is no security problem) and switched the authentication mode for the web application.
Does anyone know this problem and found a solution?

    Hi,
For troubleshooting your issue, you can try to add a registry value to your local registry (on a machine with Office Applications installed through which you are accessing SharePoint sites):
Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Multi-String Value.
Type AuthForwardServerList, and then press ENTER.
On the Edit menu, click Modify.
In the Value data box, type the URL of the server that hosts the Web share, and then click OK.
Note You can also type a list of URLs in the Value data box. For more information, see the "Sample URL list" section in this article.
    Exit Registry Editor.

  • WebI document output

    Hi
    I have a question.
Whenevr a WebI document is refreshed or run manually in InfoView, and saved on the repository, is there a way to get the output file from the server?
Does  BO save a copy of the file anywhere on server?
I dont want to schedule the report ans store the output/mail the output. This is a report with prompts and the user needs to change the values each time he/she runs the report and thus cannot be scheduled.
This has to be on a manual basis.
Please help. Please let me know if the question is unclear.
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you Kuldeep for your response.
But i guess this is not exactly what i am looking for.
The scenario is, the user needs to inout the values for prompts, which you rightly said can be achieved via refresh on open option.
Now after this report is saved, there can be 2 options, either just save it to repository(which would save the structure and the last refreshed report output). Or save it to the computer as a local copy(xls or pdf).
We actually want to use this file as a parameter file for an ETL process and thus dont want it to save to personal computer as a lcoal copy.
I want to know if the last refreshed report is saved somewhere on the BO server, or if it can be saved to some location? And what format would this report  be in? So that the output file can be taken from server and used as a parameter file for an ETL run.
    Thanks again

Hi, getting Could not save the document to the repository for the following reason: [repo_proxy 30] DocumentFacade::uploadBlob - Query execute has failed : Error occurred while attempting to reconnect to CMS : Not a valid logon token. (FWB 00003) (hr=#0x80042a70) (WIS 30567) amongst lots of other errors when scheduling.
I was logged in as administrator and attempting to schedule a webi document to my self using the email option.
    thanks in advance

    Hi Trinath,
Could you please confirm if you could save a new report as well or not; or is it specific to scheduling.
If you are unable to save a report also then I think this is due to the path of the Input File Repository Server or its temporary directory are not pointing to the same path, and their locations are set to 2 different hard drives
BOXI3.1 Server must use the same hard drive (local or network share) for the Input File Repository Server and its temporary directory.

  • Calling up a Performance Manger SPC Chart from a WebI document

    Post Author: satwar
CA Forum: Performance Management and Dashboards
Please forgive my terminology, as I'm only a superuser of B.O. not a computer trained person.I have put a few years into configuring WebI document reports in InfoView of B.O. XI 2.  Our company is getting into SPC in a big way, hence my attention has turned to Performance Manager.  I was disappointed to learn that I have to create a whole new Universe of objects in Performance Manager in order to conduct SPC analysis on the variables I have been reporting in tables & graphs in WebI documents in InfoView.I can learn to accept that aspect of B.O. but I am a little concerned about my users having to navigate through Performance Manager to view SPC analytics.  My users have put up considerable resistance just navigating to WebI documents in InfoView.Hope seemed to be around the corner when I read about calling up Performance Manager analytics from WebI documents.  Having read the details it seems like these WebI documents are created in the Performance Manager Universe, not in the Infoview WebI documents that I have already developed in InfoView. If anyone can explain and clarify how this feature works, I'd be eternally grateful.

You can Link any documents that are stored as objects in the cmc, regardless of the universe or way in which they were created.openAnalytic.jsp will allow you to open pretty much anything much as does openDocument  int the webi world.Once you create the SPC chart in process analysis youll need to view it in the control chart screen then click save as and save it into one of you folders in the corp repository. When this is done you can quickly get an example of the URI syntax by going to create new document in dashboard manger, selecting interactive metric trends, expanding navigation and legend opions, clicking browse, selecting your newly saved analytic and clicking ok.  This will but a url into the text box which you can copy and paste into your webi doc links - here's an example of the kind of thing... openAnalytic.jsp?DocumentName=MySPCanalytictest&RepositoryType=C&RepositoryName=SPCTest&DocumentExt=afd&DocumentId=AadTAN28x6lMpTxxlAhW09s&mode=full You may need to stick the odd ../../ or /jsp/ etc in front of the url depecing where you plan to call it from of course. You'll find descriptions of parameters etc for openAnalytic in the product docs. cheers, jez.

  • Issues while saving the Webi Report locally in pdf and Excel Format

    Hi,
I am getting issues with the images on a Webi Report when I try to save the reports locally on my machine in either a pdf format or in an Excel Format.
I think the issue is that when I am trying to save the report it saves the address of the image binded in the report but it doesn't save the image/download the image and when the report is opened locally it couldn't refer to the image location.
    I am using BOXIR2 with SP2.8.
I am not sure what should be the right solution for this. Any insight or resolution will definitely be helpful.

    Hi;
I would investigate on the load balancer and/or Apache front end servers, are you sure you don't have a keep alive setting enabled somewhere on one of these servers? in the Tomcat connector maybe?

  • Not Working: Enable Reader to Save the Document

I'm having a problem that's mentioned in the first post on this knowledgebase thread: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/9.0/3D/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7e0d.w.html
I have Acrobat Pro 8.0 and Acrobat Reader 8.0 installed, so I should not be having this issue. After I've enabled reader to save the document within Reader, and I test it within Reader 8.0, I get this message:
    Outgoing Message Notification
An email message with "documentname.pdf" attached has been given to your default email application. If your email application is configured to send email automatically on a schedule, the email will b sent automatically.
If not, you will need to send the message manually.
But my default email application (Outlook) doesn't open an email up. I've checked the "internet properties" for my browser, and Outlook is set as the default email application, so I'm not sure why it's not working. PLEASE HELP!!!

As Graffiti said, I am just trying to help you from going down a frustrating path. You can enable Reader Right's in Acrobat (if you designed the form in LiveCycle Designer, you may have to follow a slightly different path) to allow the full form to be saved. However, you can have the form data (XML or FDF) submitted and that does not require the save step. The issue with the save is that you are limited to 500 uses by the EULA (looks like your form was a general use form and you would likely exceed the limit).
The submitted data can be imported to the form and so you can easily have the same results as getting the full form with data.
The problem with e-mail submission is that it is dependent on the client machine, something you have no control over unless you are in a controlled environment and the machines can be controlled as a result. MAPI is the Windows interface that allows other programs to access e-mail. There are at least 2 versions of it and many folks do not activate it. Thus, those without MAPI activated would flood you with the complaints about it not working. You are welcome to try to set up instructions to tell folks how to activate it, but they would likely have something else to say to you or simply get lost -- a good way to lose business. If you do not need the data formatted, you can have it submitted to cgi-mail or formmail that may be on your server. In that case you will have to have the data formatted in an HTML form (one of the options in Acrobat forms, not sure about Designer). Then the data would be submitted just like on a web form to the mail script. These scripts require hidden fields to know where to send the mail and such.
What I meant to say is that it is unfortunate that the manual suggests e-mail when it is not a good method to use for form submission. We address this issue 3 or 4 times a week with folks. There are several forum topics that relate to your question, all saying pretty much the same. Sorry if you do not like the answer, but that is the way it is. Use e-mail submission if you wish, but be prepared for complaints. At least you know why you will be getting them. Apparently some MAC users have some similar problems with e-mail submission. I have no idea about UNIX users in general. It even sounds like you don't have things set up correctly on your e-mail and you are expecting it to work for other folks? That's the problem!
