Saving a number into database

I already calculated using the 'calculation' at the properties pallete. I put the calculated value into a box i created. The box is for display only. If i ownself put the number inside.. when i click 'save' then my database will save the number. But since the box i created just now is 'view only' then it wont store in database. I already set the 'database item' to 'yes'
i dont get it why it still wont save into the database.
Please help.

Your question is Oracle forms question, you can ask it in the forms forum.
nevertheless, check the item name if it is the same name as the column name in your table. make sure that the item you created is a database item.
and check for errors.

I would have used cookie but the user might try to use a different browser or computer to access the same page. So the choices are saving in a file or saving in database. Which one should I use?

How would you select your records from the file - if it is going to be simple and you really won't ever be doing anything complicated then a file may be OK. If you start to delete/update records then you would find it simpler in a database. At the end of the day its your call ! Write your code so that you make the data storage classes sufficiently abstract so that its simpler later to change your mind.

Saving webcam images into database

Hi,
I have managed to acquire the image from my webcam through the vision acquisition software but now i faced a problem because i want the image to be stored in the database so that it could be view from a webpage( like a video stream).
What i did in my vi was just take the image out and connected it directly to the database and data is going in the database but when i tried to display it on the webpage it does not show.
Is it possible to do that and if so is there any tutorials i can refer to?

You should not save an image to database, since it'll make database slow, and difficult to write a web page to load image.
Save an image to specific location, and save image location to database.
Then, use <img> tag to call an image in web page.

Entity Framework doesn't save new record into database

Hy,
I have problem with saving new record into database using Entity Framework.
When I run program, everything seems normal, without errors . Program shows existing, manually added records into the database, and new one too. But new one isn't save into database after running program.
I've got no idea where's problem. There is code for add new record, show existing.

How to insert an array of number into access database?

How can I insert an array of numbers(double) into an access database and later read them back to an array I labview. I don't have the Database Connectivity toolset. I would prefer using the LABSQL or other free solution. Any idea on how to solve this. I have tried LABSQL and SQL commands, but when I do that I have to convert the number to a string and then make a SQL-command string. Is there a way where I don't have to convert the number into a string?

I am not familiar with LABSQL and we do not do any support on that particular product. However I still want to give you some information on how to proceed. You can either store the array to binary format and by doing this you can save an entire array to one single element of the database. The other alternative is of course to save one-to-one in other words one element of the array in one element in the database.

Upload data from excel into database through pl/sql

Hi All,
I have excel which contains data lets say employee details,
I have one upload button ,which is used to upload excel and then i want to map the cell of excel to the database column and through plsql code i want to upload the excel data into database.
In short ,i want to upload the data from excel into database using plsql code,
or suggest me any other way to do this.(except the data load method present in apex)

The error concerns these two lines:

statement.execute("INSERT INTO Users(user_id,FirstName,LastName,Email,Login,Password) values (" + stringtoinsert + ");");
In the first line above, you have a string which represents the VALUES which you are inserting. There are 5 values. However in the second line above this is your actual SQL execution you are specifying 6 columns of data. If the column "user_id" is an identity or auto-incrementing field in the database, just remove it from this line. If not then you need to supply the "UserID" into the VALUES.
This should fix the problem.

How to save user input data in pages into database ?

Hello. I am developing my first PeopleSoft application using PeopleTools 8.49 and SQL Sever 2005. In application designer, I have created fields, records, records' underlying tables in database, and pages. After users type in data into fields in a page, we need to click "submit" button in the page and save the data into Database. How to submit data into database ?
If we use JBuilder or Netbean instead of PeopleTools, we simply develope a server side script file like sth.jsp and link it to the "submit" button. The server side script file save data into Database. But in PeopleSoft application designer, I don't understand how to submit data in a page into database.
Can any friends help to solve this question ? Thanks.

Data will be saved in the database once you click on the 'Save' button on the page or if you use one of the 'Save' functions in PeopleCode (like DoSave(), DoSaveNow()). Generally, there is no need to write a script explicitly. Please refer to PeopleSoft Internet Architechture and PeopleCode peoplebooks (and other PeopleTools peoplebooks as well) for more reference.
You may want to attend PeopleTools training if you are fresh to PeopleSoft development.

1.)You must have to create a EO based on custom table and then VO based on this EO eventually to save the values in DB
2.) the row.setNewRowState(Row.STATUS_INITIALIZED); is used to set the the status of row as inialized ,this is must required.
3.) When u will create the VO based on EO the viewattributes will be created in VO which will be assigned to the fields to take care the db handling .
You must go thtough the lab excercise shipped with you Jdeveloper ,there is a example of Create Employee page ,that will solve your number of doubts.

Inserting data into database error

for your information, i'm using jsp to create my web page. i am inserting sequence number into the database. When first data in insert into database it will show number 1 in the database. when second data in insert in database, it will show number 2 in the database. the data are inserted when user click submit button from the web page.
i am creating a page name main.jsp. when the user select option from the list bar, it will link to new page. the option value in the list bar are 'sentul view' and 'cityview'. if the user choose 'cityview', it will link to new page that allows user to key in their information. the problem is sequence number was enter wrongly into database. when the first user click submit after selected "city view', sequence in 'cityview' database will increase. then when the other user register 'sentul view', the database sequence will start from number 2 in 'sentul view' database. how to avoid the problem...

Note: Sequences are a feature provided by the Oracle database.
That code will not work in MySQL, Access or MS SQL Server.
And yeah, like the guy said, you need to keep track of a sequence number for each individual table you want to add records to.

i have small doubt
i have 3 fiels in text file using tab as separator
i need to update into database table 'ZABPSP_01'
from 's.txt' located in local disk.

After upload modify the code like below. Also change the file name as some one suggested already. If u are still facing problems then check in debug mode what is happening after FM call.

Some examples in saving the output into memory

After running the class file i would like to save the results into memory, and then update the results in memory every time the program runs including the number of times it checked whatever it is going to check with the result of that checking. Then saving the results into a .txt file every time the program goes to sleep for an hour, as it has while(ture) loop.
Will storing data in a variable save it into memory?? (example if u can please)
I will be gratefull if you could tell/show me how to to save the results into memory and then update these results (i will need examples please). As having the program in a while(ture) loop and saving the result into a .txt file has been done.

i am sorry if i did not make myself clear, but i dont know how to do that, if there r any examples so I could understand it, i am sorry again. What i am trying to do is to store some information to memory and then update and retrieve these information later on and write it into a file, and do the same every hour.
I am sorry for not understanding it and for not making anyone to understand it.
