Saving a relative chart time.
I noticed that when taking data the time displayed on the chart is moving slower then actual time. The other data displayed in the chart appears to have good response however. I suppose for the time being I can live with only having relative time as long as all displays are somewhat synchronized on display. I am trying to write all my data to a fileto graph in excel but dont want to use real time as a synch cause it seams that the relative time displayed by the chart is goes with the data. I dont know exactly how this data is synched in time. Any help would be great. Thanks so much.

Hi Tim,
The x-axis on your Waveform Chart is controlled by the Loop Delay and the XScale.Multiplier. In case the code in your loop takes longer than the Loop Delay, the loop will not continue until next iteration of the Loop Delay. This could cause some timing issues, since the code inside the loop may have non-consisting execution times.
You can include a timestamp to your data using the timing functions, and that way make sure that the x-scale will be relative to the time � being absolute or relative.

We have a vi created to chart several parameters. The vi time on the x-axis starts out in 1957 and at an inaccurate time of day. How do I make the chart time sync with Windows time on this computer?

My Mac Book Pro changes the saved home page each time I open Safari. I am also getting random tabs opening with various "cleaning up" my computer junk.
How do I get rid of this? I tried some of the fixes listed but they don't seem to work or I am doing something wrong.

WendiYou may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
if it's not already checked. -
Is it possible when saving the psd file to have an automatic jpg file saved at the same time?
My work involves preparing images for printing lightboxes and window installations. My clients require to pre-approve the photos before printing.
I usually save my files as psd but since the files are very large in this format I usually save another copy as a jpg file that has a much smaller file size. This makes it possible for me to add these to a presentation and and send them to my client.
Is it possible when saving the psd file to have an automatic jpg file saved at the same time? Or do I still have to do this manually?If you save the document manually as a PSD file in Phtoshop not from within an Action, Script, Plugin or Droplette. You may be able to write a Photoshop that would do as save as Jpeg, And you should be able trigger its execution by setting up a Script Save event using the Script event manager. When You do a manual save the script should be triggered. I wrote may be able to for I have never tried to write that script or set up a Script Manager Save event. I have only use open events.

Last night I downloaded the latest Word update. Today the first Word document crashed and I lost 45 minutes of work in spite of having saved the document numerous times. Why is Word crashing the day after a safety update? I have Office 2008 for Mac
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

Open Console in Applications>Utilities, check the system log for the date/time of the last problem & next startup for clues. -
Multiple "Backup of ..." Entries In Finder / Related to Time Machine
I currently have 17 items under "Devices" in the Finder which are labeled "Backup of System". It seems like each time Time Machine performed a backup (or perhaps failed?), another entry was added. The list has grown over time, although I can't seem to figure out when it occurs.
Anyhow, when a Time Machine backup begins, near the top of the "Devices" list, an entry called "Backup of System" appears with the appropriate spinning animation showing that the backup is in progress. The 17 other entries will each have an eject/unmount button next to them, but nothing happens when the buttons are clicked. As soon as the backup is complete, the eject buttons go away. Clicking on the just flashes the contents of the finder, and doesn't change to any particular folder.
Why is this happening? I'd love to send along a screenshot. It looks like I'm going to have to reboot to get rid of these, since there seems to be no way to remove them manually.
I run PathFinder on this system, and for some reason, these entries do not appear under PathFinder ... only in Finder.

If you notice carefully, each time time machine goes to do it's routine backup, it creates a temporary filesystem under devices. What seems to happen is these filesystems don't get properly cleaned out after TM is done. I suspect it may have something to do with capacity on the receiving device (I have a 1TB time capsule that is nearly full).
It is annoying, and I'd love to see it addressed.

there is an auto-save, which can be set to save in my documents, along with the project files, or a custom location. if you need to search for them, they use the same name as your project file, but with -1, -2, -3, -4 etc at the end, for each revision. so if needed, you can do a search for your project file on your hdd till it finds the auto-saves.

I have twice lost really imptnt docs on Pages. Yesterday's doc had been saved at least six times over the three days of working on it, then yesterday it disappeared. I used disk drill to recover and it found lots of pages docs but not a trace of my multiply-saved document. How could that happen - and twice! The first time it was my novel and disk drill found it. This time it is a philosophy book, a new opening of around six pages, and there is just no trace. Time is short to avoid overwriting - does anyone have any ace ideas? Kind Regards

Novel: not the problem at the moment as that was recovered last time. I don't really understand the question otherwise - Pages is a wp prog, why not write a novel in it. I didn't do it for DTP, just as a doc.
Disk Drill hasn't found the doc that is still under pages-docs - which has the same title as the lost doc - but is only less than a page whereas the lost doc is about 6 pages. Pages still saved the longer doc numerous times despite having the same title as the shorter one. The last time I left the macbook on sleep and awoke it while trying a dongle in a shop. The doc came up on the screen and so I tried to minimise it - that menu came down (which always annoys me) that asks if I want save this new doc on i-cloud. As it is never a new doc and I don't want to save what doesn't exist on i-cloud I pressed delete - which usually leaves the existing document as saved. But this time when I got home and tried to open it - it had disappeared. The short doc is still there, but neither that nor the longer missing version has been found by Disk Drill - unlike last time with the novel when it did find the missing doc.

Thinking of purchasing Time Capsule.... Can I access my documents saved on (Home Network) Time Capsule from another Network??? For instance, I can access my documents saved on MyBookLive (which is connected to my wifi) from ANY wifi connection... Like when I'm at school I can download documents stored on my MyBookLive at home.... I love this feature... But I would prefer to keep my products apple... So my question is can I access my documents from ANYWHERE with Time Capsule???

Not for ipad or iphone.. only the Macbook although I think people have some work arounds..
NOTE. Your school firewall should block it. If I was still working in network admin I would. ie you are risking the whole network to get access to files unchecked for viruses.. and please don't just say Macs don't get viruses, you can still be the source of the infection even if you don't suffer the disease. Just a carrier.

Q: No daylight saving in waveform chart

I have a large logfile (couple of years) and i wan't to display this
with labview. The times i use are labview timestamps (seconds since 1
januari 1904 0:00 utc). Problem is when i plot them in a chart it
displays them in my local time zone (amsterdam).
Is there a possibility to plot these data in an chart in UTC without
Daylight saving time? Most preferable without changing the timezone in
windows, but even then a UTC timezone without DST doesn't exist.
Any help???

Daylight savings in general causes confusion. I'm not certain that it
actually accomplishes anything positive anymore. But to your question,
what will happen when it changes?
This is all subject to change, either by us or the OS, but at t
he moment
LV uses OS libraries for turning a timestamp into a string. The current
behavior of those libraries is that all of the times, historical or
current will shift by one hour. It is very difficult for a computer to
determine whether the timestamp falls in an A or B period. Sure it can
be done, and I believe some Unix servers do it, but in general, everyone
does UTC internally and then uses the current time zone to adjust the
UTC, then determines whether DST is currently in effect, then turns that
number into a string.
I believe this means that if you are at work at 2:00 in the morning,
that you will get another 2:00 an hour later on the chart, but as soon
as the historical values scroll off the screen, all the previous values
will be labeled 12:00 1:00 2:00.
As I said, DST complicates everything and someone might change this
behavior in a future OS or a future LV.

Stella DeheryanYou can modify the way the time is displayed on the axis by right clicking the chart and selecting properties. On the display format tab, select relative time. This should show the X-axis scale as HH:MM. Or pick any other type of formatting you want.
