Saving application state on application unload?

Hi,
I want to save my application's state in the shared local
object when it gets unloaded (ie, when the user goes to another web
page or when the user closes the browser. Is there a on unload
event for the _root flash movie? How do I do this? Thanks.

No there isn't. You need to solve this from
javaScript.

  • How to get to folder in /Library/Saved Application State/com.adobe.flashplayer.installmanager.savedState

I have a file saved in a folder which according to a find ?/ -name "" search is located here /Library/Saved Application State/com.adobe.flashplayer.installmanager.saved
But I can't browse through this folder structure in Finder (I have run command to allow me to see hidden folders if that is required).
Please can someone help me to find out how to get to this file. It's an excel spreadsheet.
    Thank you

When I try to save another excel file that I have also opened from a password protected zip file, the automatic folder selected is "wzQL.8t0UHS". When I try to save a file with exactly the same name as the file that is missing into the folder "wzQL.8t0UHS" it tells me that the file already exists and asks if I want to replace it.
My assumption was therefore that it was some kind of cache where the file is intact.
When I've done a search on the name of the file I am looking for in Finder, I do not find the file.

  • Saving application state, iPad

    Hi
I'm working on my first game for IiPad developed in Flash pro. CS6 (Air 3.7).
It seems like Air is handling when the game is moved to the background and I just use Event.DEACTIVATE and Event.ACTIVATE to pause timers and animations etc.
But when the App is closed by IOS (or by the user) the application state should saved so the user can continue when he reopens the app - or so I've read.
Or saw one example of this listening to Event.SUSPEND and saving the data in SharedObject.
Is it necessary to save every state of any bullet flying around or is it OK the just continue from the last level played ?
Would an app that doesn't save the application state get rejected from App store?
    Any help appreciated
    Thanks!
    Rolf

Thanks Colin. It seems a bit over-kill to save the exact application state in the game i'm working on.
I think I'll just let the user start over if the application is closed. - I was afraid that Apple would reject the app.
    Thanks again.

  • Applescript to delete caches and folders in Saved Application State

I don't know if this can be done, but I'd like to write and Applescript to perform these functions:
    1) to delete caches from all 3 cache folders and the ~/Library/Saved Application State folder
    2) to run at  logout, shutdown or startup (any of those is fine)
    3) to run  with admin credentials already provided
    Can this be done?
    Thanks.

You're not going to find anything useful in that folder. To clear an application's saved state, launch it while holding down the shift key. I very strongly advise you not to use the shell unless you're sure you know what you're doing.

    Hello Santhi
The GC messages you see are just an indication of the garbage collector activity. It is not an error.
I'm not sure about what you are doing with the Developer Studio. I guess your WAS Java is already installed, is it right? Are you able to start the visual administrator? Please, paste here the exact error you receive.

  • Is it possible to change application state from a component?

I was wondering if it is possible to change application state from within a custom component and if so, what would the syntax be if I had an application named "zzz" and I wanted to change the app state from "state1" to "state2" from my component?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
you always have a static class Application.
Application.application will be the root component. After that you can change it state.
    Application.application.currentState = "state2";
But it's not the best way to change states. It's better to dispatch events from components and change states in listeners.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
The section Install missing components has advice on breaking down the iTunes installer into the individual .msi files which might prove useful if AAS won't install normally.

    Hey Debbiered1,
Follow the steps in this link to resolve the issue:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
When you uninstall, the items you uninstall and the order in which you do so are particularly important:
Use the Control Panel to uninstall iTunes and related software components in the following order and then restart your computer:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Important: Uninstalling these components in a different order, or only uninstalling some of these components may have unintended affects.
Let us know if following that article and uninstalling those components in that order helped the situation.
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities!
    Take care,

  • Weblogic Prepared State but application is running fine

One of our current production managed servers is in a 'Prepared' state, but the application is running fine.  We have kept it up for consecutive nights without restarting to experiment with how long it will run.  How can it be in a 'Prepared' state and still be running?  Will this prevent it from starting properly the next time we restart the server?

    Hi,
Thanks. Tried finding any similar bug for WLS 9.2 but didn't get.
there is a bug in WLS 10.3 but the scenario was different .
Can it be application specific? because other applications on same managed server are showing state ACTIVE?
I used a WLST command to check the state of applications (using getCurrentState() function )
It gives the correct state as ACTIVE.
    Any Pointers will be appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance.

  • Registering log statements with application.log

    Hello,
I'm struggling with how to direct my log statements to application.log. If I just initialize a logger via java.util.logging within my application, its log messages are routed to the opmn log (unless I add a filter redirecting them to a file). Likewise, if I use System.out, they go to opmn. What's the best practice for directing your application log statements to application.log (note, I'm deploying to oc4j). Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

^ ...specifically, how do I print to application.log from the EJB app.

  • ADF 10.1.3 : Saving VO results when application is closed.

    Hello,
I have written to code to save the VO results in a file which i want to call when application is closed. So in which method should i call the code so that VO results are always saved irrespective of how application window is closed.
Also i want to load the VO results into the VO when application starts, in which method should i do this?
    Regards
    Lokesh

    John,
Thanx for the reply. Let me elaborate my requirement.
My application is a web application. I have created a VO [not based on sql query]. This VO is populated by the user by providing various inputs on the application page. All i want to do is store these VO rows on the user file system when the user closes the application and then reload these rows back into the VO from the stored file when user reopens the application.
Now i don't want to keep writing the rows on file system as soon as VO is populated as this would lead to bad performance, so i am looking to save the VO rows when application closes. Is there any way to do it??
    Regards

  • How to access application state from stateless web service?

I have a beginner J2EE question. After reading through J2EE tutorial, I still don't know how to create an application that would run on J2EE server, and which would have a web service interface to other world, and which would have several threads running, which would connect to other enterprise applications via TCP? Because if I understand it correctly, web service requires a stateless session bean, which means that it can't access any stateleful session bean (except always create one and remove it instantly). So there seems to be no way to store application state and have running threads.
I'm asking this because .NET seems to have a very simple Application dictionary, which can save all application objects, including threads, and it is very easy to access this Application state from a stateless web service. Isn't there any similar functionality in J2EE? And if not, how it should be done in Java world then?
I guess that the Connector architecture could be the solution, but it is not documented in the tutorial.

There's nothing in the J2EE spec that says that you have to use Web Services. Web Services by definition are stateless.
If your requirements are that you have to use a session bean along with a Web Service, then the architecture needs to be rethought, because it doesn't seem to me that Web Services are what you want.
That said, you can use a hybrid. You can expose some of the functionality of your application as Web Services while the remaining is implemented in a classic J2EE type framework that is stateful.
I would also think that you could store your application state via entity beans. You could save and load them when the web service is accessed. An entity bean doesn't require a database... just some form of persistence (could be an XML file for instance).
You need to decide which components of J2EE make sense when and where.

  • JSP Web Application State

    Hi there,
I have a question regarding application state in a jsp web app. Can value be passed across different server like the use of cookie and session? If so what do I need to do? I'm current running the same web app on two different server because of an external plugins features that I'm using.
ex: If I start at the main webpage on Server A and intial an application variable called "test = A" and then directed to a second page on Server B and try to change the same variable to say "Test = B", now when I go back to the initial page on Server A, I should see "Test = B" not "Test = A". But I'm seeing "Test = A", my initial guess is that there when my application move to a second page on a different Server it started up a new state which on the page on the second Server will recognize while Server A still retain the application initial state.
So back to question, is it possible to have the same Application state run on two different Server? If so please provide me an example or a source to resolve this. Thanks for all you help.
    Alex

Never mind, Just realize doing what I describe earlier will violate the web security standard.
