Saving as XML file from Report

Hi All,
How to convert a Data's in a custom table to output in XML format n store in a FTP folder by runnig a report in ABAP. That is each time when a custom report is run the data's which gets populated into a custom table shuld also be generated as output in XML format and get saved in a FTP folder.
Already some of the friends hav given suggestions but i need more information and a clear idea pls don't mistake me.
we are using version mySAP ECC 5.0, n how to use Call transformation and the FM 'HR_EFI_CONVERT_STRING_TO_TABLE'is not avilable in version 4.7 Entprise Edition.
Is there any Function Modules or standard reports avialable for this scenario.Pls do help

let me understand.
when you say custom table do you mean a data base table?
check out this code sample of a FM

which takes any DB table name as input along with where conditions and returns the result as xml.
once you get the xml to put it in a FTP server, you can use the code specified in this weblog.

Requirement : Write a Dialog transaction with the following text input fields.
Reference Indicator.     (Char10)
Staff No          (NUMC, Length 5)
Name               (Char50)
Room               (Numc, length 3)
Phone               (Numc Length 7)
Mail               (char30)
in screen 100
The transaction should also have an u201CUpdate Fileu201D button, which when pressed :
1) Loads the file C:\AdvAC\AC1\bin-debug\assets \ into an ITAB.
2) Inserts the data into the ITAB using the following XML format.

<ref_ind> Reference Indicator.</ref_ind>
<staff_no> Staff No </staff_no>
<name> Name </name>
<room> Room </room>
<phone> Phone </phone>
<mail> Mail </mail>
</staff>
all should be inside <allstaff> </allstaff> tagsu2026.

Conversion of XML file from ANSI to UTF-8 encoding in SAP 4.6C

Im working on SAP 4.6C version.I have generated a XML file from my custom report.It is downloading in ANSI format.But i need to download this into UTF-8 format.So can anyone please let me know how to do this?

Reading a XML File from server in BI Publisher

Hi All,
Can any one help me how i can get the XML file from server to BI Publisher using data source.
The file should transfer directly to BI Publisher with out storing it in any local directory in local system.

Do you mean that you have another system that is going to serve up the XML data and you want BIP to be able to pick it up as a data source ?
Couple of options:
1, If the XML filename can remain static you can use the 'XML File' datasource. You need to set up a directory on the server and then maybe create a dummy XML file to start with upon which you can build a report. Then have your external data generator put the file into that directory and then schedule the report so that BIP will pick and report.
2. IS the data generator accessible via HTTP or web service - BIP supports those too.
3. More complex but with a little effort you can create a servlet that will pick up the file from a directory and serve it up to BIP on demand - Im going to write about this on the blog this week

how to keep ' ' in XML file instead of &apos?

You can use bcp with query out option
use your above query as the source query and use queryout option after specifying destination as your required local file path (specify extension as .xml)

Can someone help me export a XML file from my project file?

I need someone to help me if possible, i was working at school with final cut pro and forgot to export it in xml format and only saved it in final cut pro format... i need to work on this at home and i have a pc.. because there are no lab hours and its due tommorrow, if anyone can help that would be great, thanks!!

AIR application request a xml file from a server (but only legal users)

I am conceptualizing a project at the moment and I am thinking of using Adobe AIR to develop the application related to that project.
But it depends on the ability of AIR to fulfill my project requirements.
I want your ideas, please...
Imagine, I finished developing my application and compiled the distributed version using Adobe AIR.
And I am going to distribute the installation files of the intended application by burning on to a CD.
Imagine, the user who got that CD, installed it it on his computer and launched the application.
When the application is running, it needs to load a XML file which is saved in our company server.
Since it is an important data file I don't want to dispatch it with the installation CD.
So I am thinking of using URLRequest and URLLoader classes to load this XML file from server dynamically.
Lets imagine I did codes like this....

But my question is, how safe hardcoding the path for the xml file in the class file as shown above.

Writing an XML file from JSP

for some this question will seem to be a stupid, but i am really confused how can i write an XML file from with in JSP code. should i have to use same FileOutPutStream.
Actually i am trying to make reports using Jasper api. It demands for an XML file which will then b converted into PDF file. Can any one help me in it.

Jasper converts a JSP into a servlet - and cannot be used to generate PDFs.
Assuming this is for a web application I would
1. Generate the XML
2. Generate the PDF from the XML
3. Send the PDF to the client from a servlet (i.e. forget the JSP).
Step 2 is actually quite complicated - you could do this manually with the IText API (http://www.lowagie.com/iText/) or use an XSL approach with Apache FOP (http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/fop/)

Problem while reading XML file from Aplication server(Al11)

I am facing a problem while reading XML file from Aplication server using open data set.
OPEN DATASET v_dsn IN BINARY MODE FOR INPUT.
IF sy-subrc <> 0.
EXIT.
ENDIF.
READ DATASET v_dsn INTO v_rec.
WHILE sy-subrc <> 0.
ENDWHILE.
CLOSE DATASET v_dsn.
The XML file contains the details from an IDOC number , the expected output is XML file giving all the segments details in a single page and send the user in lotus note as an attachment, But in the present output after opening the attachment i am getting a single XML file which contains most of the segments ,but in the bottom part it is giving the below error .

Reading XML File from application server

My aim is to read a XML file from application server and extract the relevant data from it and process further.
When I am trying to read a XML file from application server it is reading success fully but the problem is that its not reading the last root structure of XML file why is so happening can any body help me?
I am using the following code:

2 (you can change the way of filling internal table xml_table if necessary)
3 you don't need the part between
*-- render the DOM back into an output stream/internal table
and
*-- print the whole DOM tree as a list...
Comment it out or simply delete it
4 Rename form print_node to your liking e.g. process_node
5 In your new form you need three extra variables:
data: attribs type ref to IF_IXML_NAMED_NODE_MAP,
      attrib_node type ref to IF_IXML_NODE,
      attrib_value type string.
6 After the lines:
when if_ixml_node=>co_node_element.
string = pNode->get_name( ).
Insert:
attribs = pNode->get_attributes( ).
clear attrib_value.
case string.
when ''. "put your XML tag name here

How to transfer a (XML) file from EJB to WebDynpro / User ??

Hello!
Actually I'm working on an EJB which is able to generate an XML file by the data I saved before in a JDBC database.
Now I'd like to create a WebDynpro view, from where the user can download this file (after giving the order to generate it) to his local machine.
For the UI element FileDownload I already have inserted the binary type element into the context.
Now I'm looking for the best way to transfer the XML file from the EJB to the view, so that it can be downloaded.
Is it better to transfer it by DOMSource and to create the file in the view or to create the file in the EJB and transfer the binary data to the view?
Or is there another possibility?

In transaction SM69 external operating system commands can be set up and then these can be executed using function SXPG_CALL_SYSTEM from ABAP or using SM49 transaction.
See documentation in the function module and application help in the SM69 / SM49 transactions.
You could set up commands for copy, move, delete for the relevant directories. Be careful to limit the directories and set security appropriately.

Building big XML file from scratch - Urgent

Oracle 8.1.7.3 on windows NT platform
What is the best way to generate a quiet big XML file from multiple tables ?
I have information stored in many relational tables from which I need to generate a XML flat file either stored in a CLOB field or in a text file in a system directory. This XML file will be then used
as an input to generate a report either in HTML using XSLT, or in a PDF file using apache-fop or in a MS Excel file using SoftArtisan ExcelWriter.
My XML file has many levels in it structure, I mean that it is composed of one root element with 2 children, each children has a 3 children. One on these 3 children has 2 children and so on. Actually there are more or less 10 nested levels.
To generate this XML file, I tried to use XSU for PL/SQL with the nested cursor() feature plus XSLT to transform the raw XML file to my requirements.
But obviously there are some limitations using this method. Particularly, if the inner cursor returns an empty set I get exhausted resultset java error... A TAR confirmed that limitation.
So I had to give up this method to use basic nested PL/SQL cursors. Each fetched row is then inserted into a table (varchar2) with a sequence number so that with a cursor like select xml_chunk from my_table order by sequence, I get the whole XML file that I save either in a flat file or in a CLOB (using append method).
This method works fine, but it takes time and it's not flexible at all as I have to construct each XML tag. I guest this way of proceeding is not the more efficient...
Using DOM method won't be better as I still need PL/SQL cursor to select each level of my XML structure and in addition I might for sure encounter a problem of memory.
So what solutions would you suggest to generate this XML file. It must be quiet fast. The XML file can be up to 2Mo big. My system is actually a kind of on-the-fly reports generation. I mean that the XML file needs to be created with up-to-date data many times during the working hours !
Quick answers or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It's very urgent !!

I looks like the best way is to using the SAX processing for your application? Do you know the DTD or XML schema of your output XML document?
Would you send me the sample code for the method "to use XSU for PL/SQL with the nested cursor() feature plus XSLT to transform the raw XML file" to reproduce the problem?
