I would like to save the excel file into a shared location after uploading the data using Web ADI in General Ledger.

Exception while excel processing after upload using commons file upload

Hi all,
I am experiencing problem while creating a workbook after getting the input stream from the uploaded file. its not going catch block instead it is going to finally and giving null pointer exeption in finally as one variable in finally is not defined. the variable is defined in try as well as catch but during run time the variable is not getting assigned any value also. To upload the file , you can try a standard program "RSEPSFTP" .
while you execute the program , a selection screen appears in which the inputs should be give as
RFC destination - The target server name
FTP command- PUT
local file - your file name
local directory - path of your local file
remote file - your target file name
remote directory - where it has to be stored

Problem: this mac is not reading an excell file after upgrading to yosemite.   My Mac is from 2009, it use to work perfectly but it wasn´t able to open some apps, thats why i upgrade it.   Now it once i donwload the zip it appears with an ".ods" ext

If the "it" refers to a compressed (zipped) spreadsheet that you downloaded, the ".ods" extension is used by LibreOffice and probably OpenOffice (which are free versions of MS Office) for spreadsheets, which would suggest that wherever you're getting that "Excel" file from has switched to one of those programs. I've tried opening an .ods file from LibreOffice using MS Office 2013 for Windows and it does open though with a warning that some things have been changed. I don't know if Office for Mac can normally open .ods files. But if your need is to just open .ods files, take a look at LibreOffice.

If you would like to create a package/procedure in order to solve this problem consider using the UTL_FILE in built package, here are a few steps to get you going:
1. Get your DBA to create directory object in oracle using the following command:
create directory TEST_DIR as ‘directory_path’;
Note: This directory is on the server.
2. Grant read,write on directory directory_object_name to username;
You can find out the directory_object_name value from dba_directories view if you are using the system user account.
3. Logon as the user as mentioned above.
Sample code read plain text file code, you can modify this code to suit your need (i.e. read a csv file)

Cannot Open Excel File after exporting from Disco Plus

Hi there,
I got a question from one user having issue with opening Excel file after exporting from Disco Plus.
The report has been using for a while and he is using Excel 2003 version and Discoverer 10g(10.1.2.2), he never got this kind of error before, just recently got error.
After exporting from Disco Plus he saved file on his desktop and when he tries to open the excel it says "Cannot be Accessed, can be corrupted...." but this is not from network drive since he saved file on local desktop or C drive.
Also not for all reports, only this particular report and only specific parameter, for example for parameter 2008 Feb opened successfully, but for2009 Feb he gets this error when trying to open excel.
i tried in excel 2007 also , i dont think this is Excel version error, am not sure.
Also after go live last week (we upgraded database from 9i to 10g) but i am not sure this causes ,since for one parameter working, for other parameter not working.
Actually we should get one window for Macro when we try to open excel, but he is not getting it seems.
Any ideas/thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, we can export to other formats as well, but actually exporting is working, after saving the file on our local desktop/drive and when we try to open we get this kind messages or we cannot open the file, we should get message window for Macro to enable/disable but for this report we are not getting this either,
Also this happens only for specific parameters,like i mentioned above it works I mean excel file opens for one set of parameters but for some other set of parameters cannot open.
For example :- when we enter FEB 2008 it works, if we enter FEB 2009 it won't open the file.
This is weird
I am still working on this issue, may be better to recreate the report again might be helpful,
Any ideas/comments/thoughts would be great

I can't open any excel files after installing Snow Leopard. Is anyone else having this problem?
I have a standard iWork '08 install. Has anyone experienced? And better yet, know of a fix?

Most users who have had a problem opening Office files with the iWork apps after upgrading to Snow Leopard have the problem fixed by updating to the latest versions. For iWork '08 that is Pages 3.0.3 & Numbers 1.0.3. For iWork '09 it's Pages 4.0.2 & Numbers 2.0.2. I don't use Keynote, but it should also be updated. If you're not running the latest versions & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. They must be in the iWork '08 or iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '08 or iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '08 or '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.

Issue in .class file in imported archive ESR - after upload using eclipse

Dear Friends,
My requirement here is too change existing java mapping. Here I am exporting zip file from imported archive and after making changes in eclipse upload the .JAR file again. Here .class file is not opening after upload in Imported Archive.
Error is
Setup I am having on my system.
-> JDK version on my system JDK 1.6_34
-> JRE on my system – JRE 6
-> Using eclipse SDK 4.2.2
SAP PI servers settings.
I searched online blogs but no help. Can anybody guide me what wrong am I doing here?

Because i get permission error when i use another methods like FileOutputStream, FileInputStream etc.Permission errors are generally resolved by granting the proper privilege via DBMS_JAVA.grant_permission procedure.
Have you already tried that?

Can't open excel file after saving and closing excel with activex

I'm using activex to write and save excel files in LabVIEW. My application opens excel (not visible)writes a file, saves it, and then closes both the file and excel. When I try to open the file Excel opens but the file is not displayed, I see the excel header and footer but the file itself does not display. My application is still running at this point. Any suggestions?

It is critical when using ActiveX with Excel that ALL refnums be properly closed when they are no longer used. Just a single refnum left open will cause the exact situation that you describe. Typically, but not required, the refnums will be closed in the reverse order in which they were created. Here is a good sequence:
Open Application ref
Property Workbooks ref
Open Workbook ref
Close Workbooks ref
Select Sheet ref
Select Range ref
Write Value2 to Range
Close Range ref
Close Sheet ref
Save Workbook
Close Workbook ref
Close Application ref
When you have properly closed all refnums, the problem will disappear.

Saving excel file using HSSF api

I am using HSSF api to download an excel file. But the end users are not able to save the file. Some of them do not get the popup file download window so that they can choose to open or save. Is there a setting in the browser which shows up the window? The users may have different versions of excel on their pcs.
How to show the excel application menu 'file' so that users can save this file?
Any help would be appreciated.

When I test this on my pc, I get file download window and I can choose 'open' or'save'. I also have tested this on some of my collegues PCs successfully. But the some of the end users are not getting this window.
when the same is file is downloaded by running an asp page the enire MSExcel application with standard tool bar and menus(file edit etc..) is showing up.
Why is it not poosible to get the same result using HSSF api?

Excel File gets Locked using OLE2

We are trying to load data from Excel file into a form using OLE2 . We are able to load the data from Excel File .
Here we try to read the first row of the excel file and verify for a title to be present

After this we open the excel , and modify and try to save , it just waits ...
we are forced to close the form. and then only the excel file gets saved...
we need to modify the file , when the form is running and then upload the data..
since the objects are closed , we are unable to understand why the excel file is locked till the session
