Saving for Word - and having it come out correctly

I have prepared a lengthy Word Processing document in Pages '09. It runs 19 pages, and pages 6 & 7 are 2 columns, the rest are single column.
When I save to Word, and I have others open in Word on their Windows computers, it loses the 2-column formatting of pages 6 & 7, plus having some other anomalies.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
I have even verified some of this myself by opening the document in OpenOffice 3.0.1 - I get the same phenomenon of the disappearing 2-column formatting.
I've also tried to prepare the entire document in OOo 3.0.1 and save it in Word format - still problems. It is imperative that I make it something that is useful (i.e., able to be edited) in Word. By the way, several versions of Word in this universe of my friends - some back to 2004 or so.

The problem you are describing isn't just a Pages/Word problem and I can promise that the only solution I can offer you won't like. Every version of Office is just a little different and so interprets files a bit differently. Additionally, line and page breaks are influenced by font size and shape and while you and I both might have Times on our computers, mine might be OpenType while yours is PostScript and there are differences enough between them to create line and page break problems.
I'm currently involved in drafting a new set of documents for a professional organization I belong to. The committee involves 8 members throughout the US and we all use Word but we are using a variety of versions and even a variety of different operating systems. Early on we realized that NONE of us saw the documents displayed in the same way. The only real solution would be for all of us to be using the same version of Word with the same font set but that wasn't feasible. (In fact, my second suggestion, that everyone use OpenOffice also failed because two of the committee members couldn't get it installed on their computers.) And those, I'm afraid, are the only solutions for you too.

I'm trying to get the image to print correct size. i've tried center image, fit to media image, and they all come out the same size...smaller than the size in "image size". is this an Epson problem or Photoshop problem. Thanks!

I just got a new printer...Epson R3000...but have had this problem before. It's probably a simple fix, but I can't figure it out. I'm asking for printing on 8.5 x 11 and the image comes out 6.5 x 9.5 every time. Help please! And thanks!

The Epson site stated that the R3000 printer can print borderless however the quality will suffer in the expanded print area. Borderless is not supported on some heavy paper. To me the means your better off limiting you images size to the standard print area. There will be magins about 1/8" on the four sides so the print area on 8.5"x11" paper is 8.26" x 10.76"....
Take note of the print size set by the epson driver it may change depending on the paper type set. Note my first epson 4800 setup where I set 8.5" x 11" sheet paper from tray into the printer setting the driver set a smaller size for the paper which was reflected into the Photoshop Print preview. It shows paper is 8.499" x 10.999 with a small unprintable area across the top....

Photoshop crashes when saving for web and devices

When hitting saving for web and devices, Photoshop starts to render images but before it's done, it crashes. I get an error-popup with no text and the screen where normally the animation is shown is red. Then Windows comes with a crash report and I can only quit Photoshop.
I have an animation of over 150 frames, but just some black and white lines, no color.
I'm using Photoshop CS 5.5 on Win7.
I tried deleting the preferences in AppData/Roaming etc, but no result, still crashes.
My Photoshop is also updated to the latest version.
Help?

And Im a Firefox man. Can anyone look into this or maybe create a plugin that does what POW! does for IE? I will donate to the creater of a plugin that does that. Im so sick of pop ups that most pop up blockers miss.

The Firefox pop-up blocker is very effective. If you are getting a lot of pop-ups in Firefox, you may have picked up some Malware that is causing those pop-ups.

Sending a slideshow via email in Photoshop Elements 10-how do you do it and have it come out good?

I made a slide show, and under properties, chose size to share via email, then attached it to an email. I viewed it, and boy was it crappy! All out of focus and broken up. How do you create a slideshow for email sizing and have it come out like the original pictures?

First, empty the Trash if you haven't already done so.
Use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Proceed further only if the problem hasn't been solved.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, then drag or copy — do not type — into the Terminal window:
sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Press return. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

We have heard no official announcement as to the date of that release, nor have we received any announcement of the release of a new iPhone, no matter what they want to call it. Your decision to purchase a phone has to be based on your need at the time and what is available.

New Mini - Firewire plug is stuck and won't come out

Hi,
This is a virtually new Mac Mini; A firewire plug from my 20" Cinema display is stuck in the firewire port and won't come out. (I'm trying to disassemble this mini to move to another location.)
I'm trying very hard not to pull too hard because I don't want to damage the firewire port. But I don't know what to do - it's just stuck and won't come out.

Well, I finally got it out after fiddling with it, and walking away several times. I had to make sure I didn't damage it, so I approached it very gingerly.
How did I get it out? It's amazing what actually worked. What worked was grasping ONLY the firewire chord about 1 to 2 inches away from the plug and pulling Only on the chord straight out.
Doing it this way, it popped out with very little resistance. Strangely, the Apple Cinema Display firewire plug almost seems to click when you plug it in.
So I immediately tested a generic firewire plug (non-Apple related) and it plugged in and pulled out with no problems or resistance whatsoever.
"This completes my test of the Apple Cinema Display Firewire plug." (a joke there)
