Saving HTMLText from flash

I want to save HTMLText, read from a textfield, and save it. Problem I am facing is that the data comes with &lt; and &gt; instead of regular HTML < and > tags. Any idea how can I get the angled brackets instead of &lt; and &gt; ?

how and where are you trying to save it?

  • Saving XML from Flash XML.sendAndLoad

    I'm new to XML and haven't a clue how to integrate Flash xml
    and Coldfusion 7. There is a Flash app ( I didn't develop it) that
    is sending xml.sendAndLoad formatted data like this to a cf page
    setSummaryQuiz.cfm
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <result lessonID="19" userID="56">
    <word id="281" value="1" />

    <word id="299" value="7" />
    <word id="300" value="1" />
    </result>
    My page is supposed to return saved = true or false like
    this:
    <? xml version = " 1.0" encoding = "UTF-8"?>
    <result saved = "true"/>
    Can someone help me or point me to a tutorial or code snippet
    where I can see how CF reads and parses the XML data from
    Flash?

    In ASP setting the response type to "text/xml" you can do a
    response.write command to send back XML to Flash if you were
    performing an XMLSendAndLoad command ie. send XML from Flash,
    processed by ASP and receive an XML response from the ASP - good
    for Flash to know if something worked or an error resulted in
    processing the info.

  • Saving images from Flash

    Hi, I need to know how I can save an image from a webpage
    that usesFlash, in order to handle it .
    Thanks a lot

    If you have Acrobat 9, you might be able to save the webpage
    using the "Create a PDF" from webpage command - depending on how
    self-contained the flash file is.

  • Saving PDF from Flash

    Just wondering if I can make a PDF file from data within my Flash application, using a native function say like the prinjob or do I have to utilise a third party application like AlivePDF. I have used printjob before to send flash files to printer but this time i want flash to make a PDF file specifically. Would love a native Flash solution for this, don't really like mucking about with third party components, plugins and API.
    Any help or assistance would be quite welcome.

    Yes it will be on a server but a very restricted .edu server so I don't think I even want to entertain the thought of using fpdf for this job.
    Right now, just explained to client to that we will be using printjob and relying on user to have PDF driver. All of the education department's computers in my state in Australia (QLD) are using a Managed Operating System (MOE) that has the PDF printer driver installed.
    Just put some good instructions on the flash app and left it at that. When I have some more time would be interseted to check out Alive PDF.
    Thanks for all your help!

  • Saving a slide show when catalog runs from flash drive

    A little background - I manage two separate classes of students who use the same laptop with PSE8.  Each student has their own flash drive to save a custom catalog for the PSE8. Each time students open PSE8 they load their custom catalog.  All image files are saved onto the flash drive.  We have been using custom catalogs because our computers have Deep Freeze installed. This system has worked well for images.
    When saving a slide show there is no way to specify where the slide show should be saved.  I assumed that the slide show would save to the catalog which is sitting on the flash drive.  Unfortunately, this is not the case.  How can I save a slide show on a external flash drive?  I want students to be able to save and be able to reopen their slideshows.
    thanks,
    Robert

    Robert,
    Right now,I am looking at my current PSE 7 install on Vista. There is a .psess file type which contains slide show project information. I suspect that this might be the file you are seeking.  And I think this file exists with the same purpose in PSE 8.
    For PSE 8, you might find those files under a folder structure of
    ..... \Elements Organizer\Catalogs\name of the specific catalog\projects
    I desginated the dots at the beginning of the folder structure because they could be different depending on what version of Windows is running and potentially even other installation choices specific to that machine.
    Therefore, you might try searching for the .psess slide show project file type.
    Note 1: I am not sure v8 will place the project folder and the .psess files in your case where you have used a custom location for the Catalog that is on a flash drive. Please post back here with the location where you do find the files
    Note 2:  I suspect that if you are teaching syncing to photoshop.com, you might also need to be concerned about the location of the syncdb folder. My guess would be that it is near that project folder. If you do determine the syncdb location, please also post it back here. Thanks.

  • S L O W  Saves from Flash 8 over network??

    This is a Flash 8 vs. Flash MX 2004 issue...
    Anyone else noticing a difference saving files over a network from Flash 8. I have never had a problem with Flash MX 2004 saving over a network, but now saving a 14 MB flash file to a Mac OS X Server (Sawtooth G4 running Jaguar Server 10.2.8) is taking up to 2 minutes over AFP!!
    An odd thing about this is that my first save will take 15 seconds, my second about 2 minutes, the third around 15 seconds, the fourth around 2 minutes and so on... A "Save as" will take about 40 seconds consistently.
    Again that is using AFP, but even using SMB I notice this alternate short/long save time. Using SMB a "Save as" takes 16 seconds on the same 14 MB file. Then the first save will take 3 seconds and the second about 13 seconds, the third save will take 3 seconds the fourth save will take 14 seconds etc...
    Now this looks like a good case for using SMB over AFP (but that is a topic for another forum). However, it is clearly a Flash 8 vs. Flash MX 2004 issue. When I go back to using Flash MX 2004 saves pretty consistently take about 2-3 seconds and "Save As" takes about 10 seconds. This is using AFP or SMB (SMB is a bit faster).
    I called Macromedia (Adobe) support for help and their only answer is that "saving over a network is not reccommended or supported" (neither is this documented, even though some of their tutorial examples use network workflows). I told them that Flash MX 2004 (and previous) NEVER gave me this problem which has apparently been introduced with Flash 8 Professional.
    Anyone else have this issue?
    Thanks

    Evidently, I am asking for trouble here...
    Viewing the responses on other forums, opening & saving files over the network is being strongly discouraged.
    I've never heard of this being an issue and in fact it is something that we have been doing without problem for ten years here. It's only until Flash 8 that I have even questioned it.
    Any other opinions out there?

    Hi
    Can you tell me which version of dreamweaver you are using (and flash pro, if you have it), as the code you provided has element of a number of different versions (e.g. your js flash files are reasonably new, but your flash inserted into the html body is old, but with the cs3 version of flash player indicated!). Also the detect flash file is no longer required.

    Problem – loading HTMLtext from a text file
    Hi, I have a dynamic text set up to render text as HTML and I
    am loading the text into the text object by using the code below.
    var loadText:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
    loadText.load("Nyheter.txt");
    loadText.onLoad = function(success){
    if(success){
    Nyheter_txt.htmlText = this.VariabelTekst;
    The textfile looks like:
    VariabelTekst=<p align
    ="Right">(13.11.2006)</p><p><b><font
    size="12">This is the tittle</b></p><p>Here
    comes the text</p>
    It works almost fine but the first problem is that the
    paragraph text in the textfile should be written in Norwegian. This
    involves some Nordic characters. By default these characters are
    just shown as small square in the text control when running the
    flash file. If I try to enter these characters in the textbox
    “Include these characters” within the dialog for
    embedding, the text within the bold tag of the text file is not
    shown when the text is rendered. It looks as if it effect the HTML
    rendering of the text. The Nordic characters are still not showing
    but instead the small square placeholders for the characters are
    gone.
    Am I doing it wrong, or is there a work around for solving
    this problem?

  • SCORM Issue, fscommand LMSGetValue call from Flash

    Hi all
    I'm using fscommands to communicate with the SCORM 1.2
    template published from Flash. I need to use fscommand because,
    even though I'm working in Flash 8, I'm working in an older file
    that was created in Flash 6. And
    everything breaks when I try to publish it to version 8.
    So I can't use the ExternalInterface method, I have to use
    fscommands.
    Now my problem is that I'm able to write to the LMS using the
    following:
    fscommand("LMSSetValue", 'cmi.suspend_data,'+toLMS);
    //<--toLMS is a string of text i want saved
    fscommand("LMSCommit", "");
    BUT I'm not able to retrieve that string later. I try to use:
    fscommand("LMSGetValue", "cmi.suspend_data,returnVal");
    //<--returnVal is a string declared earlier
    Ive also tried a number of variations like:
    fscommand("LMSGetValue", 'cmi.suspend_data,'+returnVal);
    var fromLMS:String = String(fscommand("LMSGetValue",
    "cmi.suspend_data,returnVal"));
    textbox.text = String(fscommand("LMSGetValue",
    "cmi.suspend_data,returnVal"));
    fscommand('LMSGetValue', 'cmi.suspend_data,returnVal');
    Nothing has returned anything.
    I do know for certain that my main_DoFSCommand in my HTML is
    called, it then calls the SCOGetValue, and that successfully calls
    the LMSGetValue function. And at each call, the variables being
    passed are all as expected.
    So this is making me wonder if I'm actually calling it
    correctly from Flash in the first place. And with anything
    pertaining to SCORM and Flash, I haven't found much out there
    pertaining to this, so hopefully someone here can help.
    Thank you in advanced
    Chris

    I have the same problem, and i have send request complementary upgrade (Adobe® Flash® Builder® 4.7 Complimentary Upgrade), and only received a Acrobat change licensed...
    I´m working with 4.7 Beta the last mounths, and now all the days have to see "please enter your license". So one problem that you can jump with money (if you have that money..), isn´t a problem. Like a i have license from flex 3, upgrade to flex 4, and upgrade to flex 4.5, i´m going to take de upgrade from 4 standard to 4.7 standard (47,97 euros), and not waste my time and money on calls. So yes, I'll see adobe with another eyes...

  • Email image from flash

    I created an email form in my swf. It emails text from input
    fields. I want to also include an image with the text. Does anyone
    know how to do that?

    So first you must use BitmapData to export the data from
    flash to some picture file with for example php is good.You can use
    BitmapData.draw(Target) and after that to store all the pixels into
    array and send to php there must generate new image file.I
    recommend to use POST method because the array of pixels is too
    long and when you dont have access to the php.ini file to change
    the max send data for get the server send errors.Okey now i stop to
    talk and i give you link to .fla file because is too long to
    explain.This file is my project that you can get picture from the
    camera and save into the server is simply application and i think
    you can understand the chifly idea.So when you create your
    application u must add some lines into php that send the picture
    and message to email. Link to fla. -
    http://www.nikis.org/BitmapData.Draw.zip
    The other way that i already say you is to upload file with
    FileReference
    LiveDocs
    FileReference.And afcource the php see in this site into
    comments very useful things about attachment and send via html
    PHP Mail() Function
    btw i forgot i have small problem with the colors sometimes
    the new saveed picture has more green color.But i think this can
    script can explain the idea :)
    cheers!

  • Config Replace unable to read files from flash

    I am having an issue with the CONFIG REPLACE command. This is on several different devices; c2901 routers, c3560 and c2960 switches.
    Every attempt I make at doing a config replace results in an error stating that the file can not be read. However, the SAME file can be read using the copy <file> run command.
    I even manually copied the txt configuration file into running config, saved it  using another file name (TEST.CFG.REPLACE), then reloaded the device and loaded a maintenance config (using copy x run). Once the device was configured, I tried the config replace command using the config saved directly from run and it STILL won't work.

    Every char has an extra zero. The encoding is not clear to me. The file was originally written in notepad or vi.
    I saw that when I left a specific character out , I did not get that problem. However I am looking for another solution then just leaving characters out.
    I tried to read the file and rewrite it in another charset (ISO-8859-1), but that did not work either.

  • Saving Video from a Sony Handycam HDD - I'm stuck in iMovie ****!

    We foolishly bought a Sony Handycam HDD video camera last year, thinking we could save our movies to DVD using the computer.
    I can do it using the laptop we got my daughter for Christmas, but this isn't really feasible. My G4 has iMovie 3.0.3. and even though I recently upgraded to a 2Ghz processor, I still can't install the iMovie I bought with iLife '08 2 years ago.
    I need to be able to save files from my Sony handycam to my computer and burn DVDs. Or even if I could just burn them without saving, that would be fine.
    I have heard that I need StreamClip from Apple and I see that I need to buy Apple MPEG-2 converter first and then I see in the feedback category for that product, everyone who gave it bad marks was trying to do what I'm trying to do. Then I read somebody recommended Quicktime Pro...
    I'm completely confused..and frustrated!!!!
    Is there a version of iMovie that will work for me even though I just have a plain old 2Ghz processor?
    Would Quicktime Pro or some other software do it for me? I don't mind paying $30 for some software that I'm only going to use for saving movies from camera to DVD, but I'd rather upgrade iMovie if that was possible.
    thank you.
    (I'll come in off the ledge now...)

    Hey. This is a really good question because I too have run into video problems with mine. After a couple of years I couldn't stand it anymore so I sprung for a MacBook Pro for myself this past Christmas. When I say video problems I mean I can't watch a DVD, a video on the net, etc. It's a pain.
    But I still haven't given up on it. Currently it's just used for storage. Did that processor upgrade make any difference for you? I've been looking into that upgrade along with an upgrade to Leopard on the Quicksilver to see if it can handle the video.
    We bought a Panasonic video recorder and have a G5 (pardon me but I don't know the processor speed). Even that computer wouldn't recognize the video files stored on the recorder and refused to import them. I called Panasonic and they explained I needed iLife '09. (Currently on the G5 there is '08 and it is running Tiger.)
    What you might want to do is a couple of simple upgrades. First the OS to Leopard and then upgrade your iLife to '09. I can say that the camcorder works like it should with iMovie '09 just like the rep at Panasonic said it would.
    Hope this helps.

  • Values from Flash to PHP

    I am using AS2 and passing some values from flash to php,  flash files is on page file1.php   values are passing fine , it pass values when user click button
    when button is pressed {  var myVal:LoadVars = new LoadVars(); myVal.flieName = "fileid1 "; myVal.send("file1.php", "_parent", "POST"); }
    Problem: when it pass the values , it refresh the page and Flash File is also refreshed and Flash file start from frame 1 and all the values on flash becomes default  in other words when user click "file1.php" is sumbitted , so the page is refreshed What is the solution , that after passing values the page remains or flash reamins as it is ( not refresh the contents )

    use:
    var receiveLV:LoadVars=new LoadVars();
    receiveLV.onData=function(src){
    var myVal:LoadVars = new LoadVars(); myVal.flieName = "fileid1 "; myVal.sendAndLoad("file1.php", receiveLV,"POST"); }

  • Since upgrading to CS6, fxg exports from flash are missing elements, is there a fix?

    With CS5.5 I could export vector art from Flash and open it in illustrator. Now with CS6  I cant do that without breaking everything apart if flash first. This can cause masks to be lost and is a lenghty and complicated process. If I don't break everthing apart not all the layers are imported on the fxg when opened in illustrator. Does anyone know of a solution for this?

    Above is a screenshot of artwork in flash. Below is the result after exporting an fxg and opening in illustrator.
    It does work if I go into the group and then export (or break everything apaprt so they are no longer in groups). Some files I work with have loads of grouped elements with layer masks making it very complex to break apart and export as fxg. Previous versions allowed export in one step, I could then unlock layers or show hidden layers in the illustrator file. The masks would be imported too.
