Saving JSP source to a file

Hi, im having some problems finding out how to write the source of a jsp file to another file. In other words i want to save the source to a file instead of just writing it to the browser. JspWriter (out)dont seem to have a method for this. Does anybody know how this could be done? I would be very grateful for your help!
Thanks in advance!
regards,
claus jensen

I cant find any methods in the Filter, FilterChain or ServletResponse to actually get the content of the file. Do you have an example for this, or maybe some urls to resources where i can find more info on it?
Thank you.

  • Saving the source of html file generated using PLSQL into a client folder

    Hi All,
    I have generated html pages using htp procedure calls. On a button click, these html pages need to be stored as html files on a local client drive folder. My requirement says okay with resulting security issues.
    I have a couple of queries.
    1.Any client side javascript can fetch the source of a html file and can be saved as another file in a client drive?
    2.Using PLSQL, i generated the html pages using htp procedure calls. Is there any way to save contents of the output to a specific folder. (using owa_util or utl_http packages or any other means)
    Is there any way that i could do this.. Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance.

    > 1.Any client side javascript can fetch the source of a html file and can be saved as another file in a client drive?
    No.
    > 2.Using PLSQL, i generated the html pages using htp procedure calls. Is there any way to save contents of the output to a specific folder. (using owa_util or utl_http packages or any other means)
    No, you cannot from PL/SQL simply write to that client's folder - unless a very complex and very insecure and very non-scalable method of dynamically mapping client folders are implemented.
    This whole approach is also extremely insecure. If you can from the server push a page to a folder on a client, you can also push a binary "page" to a client folder - where this "page" is in fact a worm/virus/trojan that you simply write into the StartUp desktop folder to have it autostarted to install itself on that client.
    Also - web browser automatically save the contents from a web server in their local cache. Thus the pages received are automatically saved locally. For the security reasons already mentioned, operating system and web browser treats this cache with suspicion as it could contain cached virus/worms/trojans - so the cache operates under extreme security conditions.
    The correct way to handle this requirement is to state next to the URL for that HTML page that the user wants downloaded to right-click on it and to select the "SAVE URL AS" option to save it to a local folder.
    Saving that page on the client is the client's responsibility and ownership - from security to simply deciding where that file must be placed on the client system.

  • Saving JSP output to a file

    I need to be able to save what a user sees on his browser, to a local file (where the web app runs).
    The content is dynamic. It is being created using a JSP.
    One way to write it to a local file would be to move the content creation from a JSP to a servlet and write to the HTTP response as well as to a file in the servlet.
    That's going to make it look messy.
    Any thoughts on how I could make this happen while continuing to use a JSP?

    OK, so now I've tried it, it's essentially what is described in the J2EE tutorial:
    /* File 1 */
    import java.io.*;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    * passes on a subclass of HttpServletResponseWrapper
    * in order to replace the output writer.
    public class OutReplacementFilter implements Filter {
      public void init(FilterConfig filterConfig) throws ServletException {  }
      public void destroy() {  }
      public void doFilter(ServletRequest request, ServletResponse response, FilterChain chain)
                  throws IOException, ServletException {
        //wrap the original response
        HttpServletResponse newResponse = new ReplacementHttpServletResponse((HttpServletResponse) response);
        //pass it to the resource
        chain.doFilter(request, newResponse);
        //get what the resource wrote
        String output = newResponse.toString();
        //put it to the output stream
        PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
        out.write(output);
        out.close();
        //and then put it where ever else you like
        System.out.println(output);
    /* File 2 */
    import java.io.*;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    * returns specialized writer to capture jsp output
    public class ReplacementHttpServletResponse extends HttpServletResponseWrapper {
      private CharArrayWriter replacementWriter;
      public ReplacementHttpServletResponse (HttpServletResponse response) {
        super(response);
        replacementWriter = new CharArrayWriter();
      public PrintWriter getWriter() throws IOException {
        return new PrintWriter(replacementWriter);
      public String toString() {
        return replacementWriter.toString();
    }This way is easy and few keystrokes, but buffers all the output until the filter chain returns.

  • Java code in jsp source files is not allowed in ojsp.next mode.

    Hi,
    I’m working on WC Spaces Customization library “com.acme.custom.webcenter.spaces.war”. From time to time, when I deploy the library to WC Server, it errors out.
    weblogic.management.DeploymentException: Cannot undeploy library Extension-Name: com.acme.custom.webcenter.spaces, Specification-Version: 11.1.1, Implementation-Version: 11.1.1.2.113 from server WC_Spaces, because the following deployed applications reference it: webcenter-rest.war, spaces.war, sharepoint-servlet.war, webcenter-rss.war
    If I try to login the Spaces, I get “Java code in jsp source files is not allowed in ojsp.next mode.” Should I stop the Spaces server before the deployment? In this case, other people won’t have accesses to Spaces? The deployment error doesn’t happen all the time.

    I don't think that this error is based on ojsp.next mode. The first error I see is that the application can't be undeployed. After that you get the 'ava code in jsp source files is not allowed in ojsp.next mode.' error. As you said this only happens sometimes which also point to an other problem and not to the jsp error.
    Have you ask this on the {forum:id=354} forum?
    For me it's more a deployment/redeployment question.

  • Saving JSP report output as a file on the application server

    I am trying to determine if it is possible to save a web based JSP report to the file system in the same way you can with a report generated via the rwservlet command. I am specifying DESTYPE=HTML and DESNAME=/home/mydirectory/abc.htm on the command line, but it seems to be ignored. The directory has 777 permissions on it.
    1. Is it possible to save the JSP output onto the file system just like paper based reports?
    2. Where, if any, is documentation addressing this issue? The reports deployment guide appendix lists all the URL parameters that are available to the various rw commands, but nowhere is discussed what params are relavent to JSP reports.
    3. If it is not possible to do this via the URL, does anyone know if I can somehow fetch out the inner HTML from the generated page at the bottom pf the JSP and then write it to the file system using JAVA? I know how to do it via JavaScript, but the reports are run on UNIX. Is there someway I can access the DOM inside the JSP?
    4. Why hasn't Oracle explained this better?
    Thanks,
    matt

    Thanks for getting back to me. But the documentation link below takes me to running rwservlet requests. This was not what I needed. The good news is my most excellent DBA, Manoj Gandhi, found an old TAR in Metalink that emphatically states that what I am trying to do is not possible. See Note:272401.1
    Well, sort of not possible...
    As it turns out it is possible, but you must schedule the report for immediate execution using the rwservlet's scheduling facility. Again, this came to me via my DBA. The TAR for this piece is Note:295420.1. Ignore the rwservlet urlparameter= part as best I can tell it's gibberish. Below is what I did. Substitute your info for the stuff in UPPER CASE and put it all on one contiguous line of course:
    http://SERVER:PORT/PATH/rwservlet
    ?server=REPORT_SERVER_NAME
    &destype=file
    &desname=A_PATH_AND_FILE_FILE_NAME_WITH_EXTENSION
    &jobtype=rwurl
    &schedule=
    &urlparameter=http://SERVER:PORT/PATH/JSP_NAME?userid=USERID&OTHER_PARAMETERS...
    I am not sure why cmdkey= fails when passed in the urlparameter= but I am working on a solution!

  • How to get Workshop to ?keepgenerated? JSP source?

    Hi,
    Has anyone figured out how to get Workshop to “keepgenerated” JSP source? In WEB-INF,
    the file wldynamic_change_list.properties, has a jspKeepGenerated=true setting,
    but I can’t find where it’s putting the JSP classes or java files.
    Also, I've verified this is in my weblogic.xml..
    <jsp-param>
    <param-name>keepgenerated</param-name>
    <param-value>true</param-value>
    </jsp-param>

    Phil,
    One of the main disadvantages of not using the built in JSP compiler is that
    you will not be able to debug the JSP. If you need to debug your JSP, please
    use the IDE to build the project, or right click the JSP and choose 'run
    JSP'.

    Anurag,
    Thanks for the quick reply. I did as you instructed and found that itprovides
    a workaround, but the solution is not optimal. It does not change the JSPcompiler
    used by Workshop during a "build". It only changes the JSP compiler usedby the
    server to compile a JSP that has changed. So, you must "touch" the JSPfile (but
    not do a WLW build) then "hit" the JSP with the browser to cause theserver to
    recompile the JSP. Only then will there be a ".java" file saved.
    This will have to do, but it would sure be nice if WLW could provide thissimple
    capability.

    Phil,
    A webservices or web project developed in Workshop by default uses a
    Workshop specific JSP compiler as can be seen in the default weblogic.xml
    file:
    <jsp-descriptor>
    Comment the jspServlet param out to go back to weblogic's jspc
    <jsp-param>
    <param-name>jspServlet</param-name>
    <param-value>weblogic.servlet.WlwJSPServlet</param-value>
    </jsp-param>
    The "keepgenerated" option is not supported by the Workshop JSP compiler.
    You need to use the default WebLogic JSP compiler to do that.
    As the comment above states, you can do that by commenting out the
    <jspServlet> parameter. The java file is by default generated in the
    <server-domain-dir>/<server-name>/.wlnotdelete/extract/<serer-name>_<webappn
    ame>/jsp_servlet/
    directory. This can be changed by specifying the desired location in
    the
    <workingDir> parameter.

    Ramesh,
              We experienced this sympton as well. In our JSPs, we converted
              <%@ include file="xyz.jsp"%> (static include, source time) to
              <jsp:include page="licensedQuote.jsp"/> (dynamic include, run time)
              and the problem went away.
              We still use static includes at the very start of the JSPs. It seems the problem only occurs when the static include is inside of a tag whose body does JSP evaluation.

  • A Custom Component and the JSP source that get's generated

    I'm writing a Custom Component library and I'm at a point where I need to understand how the JSP source that gets generate when my component is dragged from the palete is created and how it relates to the properties I define in the Metadata files.
    In particular I have a component that is an extension of the DataTable component and I'd like to control what get's dropped onto the page when the user drags over my component.

  • How to reveal JSP source code

    I was just wondering if the source code of a JSP page can be viewed any way?
    The JSP gets translated to a servlet, which pretty much generates HTML and only that is visible to the client browser but is there a way around it?
    E.g. would be secure/suicidal to include usernames and passwords to the JSP source code?
    I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

    The HTML delivered will contain only the output from JSP execution -- you're safe there.
    Every JSP when it is compiled produces a .java file that contains that actual servlet code. There is a risk of a user finding that and downloading it. To avoid this, you want to do one or more of the following:
    1. Turn off the server's retaining of this .java file (it's basically a debugging tool).
    2. Ensure that the .java files are created in a directory that is not accessible via the browser (i.e. outside of docroot).
    3. Apply file system permissions to the directory the files are created in such that they cannot be accessed from the web.
    #1 and #2 should be pretty easily configurable in your application server's settings. #3 is trickier, as you have to set the permissions such that the server can access them, but a web user can't.

  • JSP source for the Administration tools?

    Hi,
    I would like to know where I can find the JSP source for the Administration tools? I downloaded WLCS 3.1.1 a while ago and I thought that it would come as part of the installation but it didn't. Is there any other place to get the source files?

    Hello Hugi,
    The WLPS/WLCS admin tools are a webapp called "tools". See your weblogic.properties file:
    # Defines the admin tools Web Application.
    weblogic.httpd.webApp.tools=C:/wlcs/wlcs311/server/webapps/admin/tools.war
    (my installation dir is "C:/wlcs/wlcs311")
    Because you have the Web Application, you have the JSP source code (see http://www.weblogic.com/docs51/classdocs/webappguide.html )

  • Why aren't additional EF diagrams saved in source control?

    In VS2012/VS2013, you can add additional diagrams to your EF model, which is a great way to control large models. However, when you do this, the changes don't show up in the Pending Changes window, and so aren't saved in source control. This means that if I
    add a new diagram, no-one else on the team can see it.
    Is there a way of sharing these extra diagrams?

    Hello Yossu,
    >>Is there a way of sharing these extra diagrams?
    I am afraid it is not possible to share a diagram by source control(for exmaple,diagram1, diagram2...), as far as I know, source controls are used for files, while these diagrams we see in the model designer windows are just a visual display
    of an EDMX file(more exact, it is a visual display of the ModelXXX.edmx.diagram file). All your operations against the diagram would be saved into this file, so if you want let others know you have added a new diagram from the Model Browser, you need
    to control the ModelXXX.edmx.diagram file.

  • Getting the JSP source...

    In the navigator of portal, there is a possibility to copy a page as JSP. That works fine. But how can I get the JSP source to modify it?

    Hi,
    Edit your contexts.properties file(which will be under /server-root/https-hostname/config/contexts.properties). And do following changes in that. Restart the server to new changes take effect.
    <b>Before change </b>
    # context.global.isModifiedCheckAggressive=false
    <b>After change</b>
    context.global.isModifiedCheckAggressive=true

    First check the version of the document with Jongware's script "Identify.jsx" (ExtendScript/JavaScript).
    You can find it here:
    [Ann] Identify Your InDesign File
    If it is CS 5.5 or above, you need someone to open it in the version the script says and export an IDML representation from that. Another way would be to install a 30days version of CS6 or above (CC) and do it yourself.
    In regards of the script showing a result for InDesign files higher than CS6:
    CS7 = CC v9
    CS8 = CC v10 = CC-2014 or CC2014.1

  • SQL Server Source and Flat File Target in OWB

    Hello All,
    I have a question, is it possible to have SQL Server as Source and Flat File as Target without using any intermediate Oracle table(s).
    like
    SQL Server --> ETL Operators --> Flat file?
    as i m getting errors in data type conversions here. but if i replace flat file with Oracle table it works fine. (though i have used some conversion functions for data types as well in Flat file loading but it is giving me errors)
    Thanks in advance.

    Yes this should be fine. Are you using the gateway to access SQLServer or code template mappings? You need to track which columns are throwing the data type conversion errors.
    Cheers

  • I received pictures in a dozen emails and saved each picture into one file in .pages.  I did not import the photos before doing this and now iPhoto won't recognize the pictures because they are in a .pages file.  How do I get the pics to iPhoto?

    I received a dozen pictures in a few emails and I saved them all into one file in pages.  I just copied and pasted.  I do not have the originals any longer.  Iphoto will not permit me to import the pictures as it does not recognize a .pages file, nor can I simply click and drag from the pages document to iphoto nor from pages to the desktop to iphoto.  How can I save each picture I guess back into a jpeg and then import them into iphoto or have i lost them to a pages document forever?  This is urgent as I need the pictures made into a book on iphoto for work by Friday!!!  Please advise!  Thank you.

    Greetings,
    Locate the Pages document wherever it's located on your computer and click once on it to highlight it.
    Go to File > Duplicate to make a backup copy of the file.
    Click once again on the file to highlight it.
    Go to File >  Get Info
    In the "Name & Extension" category remove the ".pages" extension and put in ".zip".
    Close the info window and double-click the now renamed pages file (zip file now).It will decompress into a folder which contains all the base components including all the images you added.  These can be dragged onto the iPhoto icon to import them.
    Hope that helps.
