Saving Swing Screen as a .doc document

Hi
I am facing a problem. I need to save a swing screen as a MS word document. What i mean is that within the application there should be an option to save the screen as a MS Word document. Is it possible to do so ?
If yes then please let me know

Hmmm.... Maybe you can just save the pixel informaiton into a jpg or gif? Like... create an image object, not by opening an image that resides on your machine, but using the Toolkit.

Not correctly printing cropped screen shots in Word documents

I have a C4480 All-in-one that works fine except for one really annoying thing. I create documents using Microsoft Word that use PC screen shots inserted into the document. I paste the screen shot into the document then use the Word cropping tool to crop the view of the screen shot.
Looking at the print preview of the document, everything looks great - but when I print it, the cropping of the screen shot has changed!
Anyone have any ideas on what's happening?

The distortion was slightly visible in the JPG images in the
WYSIWYG but the SnagIt images looked fine. Both types were present
in the Word doc prior to importing and have always printed out fine
in Word. The images were not added after the import.
I know the original screen capture is fine. When I captured
the same screen in RoboScreenCapture, inserted it into my Word
document before importing - it printed out without any distortion.
SnagIt saves as a .png whereas the RH version saved it as a .gif. I
did resolve the JPG issue by saving those as GIFs. That's why I
thought maybe RH has a problem converting from one format to the
other.

How was the PDF created? If it was created by a third-party application (that is, anything other than an Adobe application), then the file may not have the information necessary to ensure a clean conversion. Please see: Will Adobe ExportPDF convert both text and form... | Adobe Community.
You may have better luck if you disable OCR, as this document describes: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (O... | Adobe Community. But that option isn't preferable if the PDF started out as a scanned document, as OCR is necessary to convert image text to editable text.

Pages '08 will not open .doc documents after upgrading to Mavericks

Since updating to Mavericks Pages '08 will not open .doc documents even when created with Pages.

I am unable to check what you have on your Mac so you will have to run your own series of tests to determine exactly where the problem lies.
Starting with the file extension on the Word files.
You didn't say, but have you installed Pages 5?
Is your previous installation of Pages '08 in your Applications/iWork folder?

I get two upload screens while uploading a document to a library. Take a look at the below screenshots. Can somebody please tell me how can I club these two to one.
I need only one upload screen with all the metadata listed.

In the first screenshot I can see the link "Upload files using Windows Explorer instead". You can use that option to upload your files and the default values for metadata would be taken for those files.
From the second screenshot I can see there are custom columns in metadata because of which the second dialog is shown. If there are no custom columns in metadata then the second dialog will not appear.

I am having trouble with my MacBook Pro. I get a blank screen with a flashing document file with a question mark in it, yes I have tried to install Mac OS X with the original disk but I get no choices of where I wish to install Mac OS X. Please help ;(

I am having some trouble with my computer, what happened was: I was playing on a game, I played with a magnet, it started to go slower and slower, I pressed F9 then it went slower and then it went to a blank screen with a flashing document with a question mark on it. I tried the original OS X installation disk but when it came to choosing the area of which I save it, it showed no areas.

Startup your Mac while holding down the Option key. That should prompt the Startup Manager window where you can select the startup disk then click Restart.
If the startup disk is not available from that window, you may be able to repair the disk.

EPS files placed in InDesign can't be saved in Photoshop until the ID document is saved

I'm wondering if there's a way around this problem.
When mounting an EPS images in InDesign that image can't be saved in Photoshop until the InDesign document has been saved.
Is there a workaround for this problem?
It doesn't happen with TIFF files, for example.

What Bob means here is that when Photoshop opens an EPS it instantly rasterises it. Whereas you can save an eps with vector shapes, vector masks and type and it outputs as vector, once it's reopened in Photoshop it's completely rasterised by default.
The preferred format would be a PDF as this would retain the vector shapes, masks, type for both editing and output.
A psd will output everything as raster at the native file resolution, although you can open the PSD file and edit the vector elements.
If the original EPS from the OP has no vector elements and is just a raster document, then it won't do any harm opening it in Photoshop.
EPS won't support layers though.
Whereas PSD and PDF (version 6 and above) do support layers.

Closing and saving spreadsheet changes in the same document? There are several drop-down options for saving a spreadsheet in Numbers except saving to the existing spreadsheet. Excel has a 'save' or 'save as' options what are the equivilents in Numbers?

Hi Larry,
Menu > File > Save (command s) will save the document. If it has not already been saved, it will offer "Untitled" as the name. Type a name and choose a folder.
Numbers (and any app on OS X Mavericks) has Menu > File > Save, and Menu > File > Duplicate.
To see Save As... hold down the option key when using the File Menu. "Duplicate" will change to "Save As..."

Linking a Google Docs document to an InDesign document

Hi,
I have written a book in Google Docs that I'm planning to typeset in InDesign.
I want to keep editing and adding to the Google Docs document, while I'm typesetting in InDesign.
Is there a way to have the Indesign document be "dynamically" linked to the Google Docs document? So that changes made in Google Docs can be easily "pulled into" the InDesign document?
I have tried to save the Google Docs file as an RTF and I have imported that RTF as a linked file into my InDesign file, but every time I update the RTF the InDesign formatting is lost.
I'd appreciate your help.

No personal experience with this workflow, but it sounds to me this should not happen.

A PDF is really an electronic print of your document & is not intended for future editing. You should always save a copy of the original document in the program that created it & use that for edits. You can then export or print the revised document to PDF, again saving the original.

Swing Screen size changing in 1.5

we developed swing screen in jdk1.4 based on the JInternalFrame. The screen is fit well with in the MDI. But jdk1.5 it looks not fitting. Anybody have idea what is the issue.

I'm willing to bet the issue is a poorly constructed UI - let me guess, are you using null layout managers anywhere? Have you used a visual UI builder?
If not then what exact symptoms are you seeing? Two comparative screenshots would be useful.
The XP L&Fs in 1.4 and 1.5 are slightly different in terms of default spacing for some components but a properly assembled UI should not have a problem with it.

Google docs documents often error and require page reload

When using any google docs document in Firefox on the last several FF versions, I've encountered frequent 'something went wrong' messages that require me to reload the page and that result in some of my recent work being lost or mis-formatted. This happens every 2-3 minutes in many cases.
I do not encounter these issues in safari or chrome.
This problem occurs on my office, home, friend's, and tethered connections.

Strange website problems like that are often fixed by clearing your cookies and cache:
#Go to History > Clear recent history
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

Error code 49.DF.FF when printing any .doc documents using google cloud.

Hi, I am getting error code 49.DF.FF when printing any type of .doc documents on Google cloud. The device used is HP Colour Laserjet cp5525. All other file formats print ok .pdf, .jpg, .xls, .txt. So far I have upgraded the latest firmware, changed the IP address of the printer and performed a partial clean on the disk. Has anyone else has this issue?

I've been seeing some issues with google cloud print jobs for the last day or so, that werent occuring before then. In the past these types of issues usually resolve themself within a day or two, so I would suggest trying the job again tomorrow. Google Cloud Print is in beta still, so there are constantly updates and changes being made that can break things, but generally get resolved fairly quickly.
