Scan directly into Adobe

I just setup a new workstation with Adobe 8 Standard. When you create a PDF from scanner, it prompts you to save the file first. I have to save the file and then continue on. It then opens in Adobe. In previous versions this step was not needed, it would scan directly into Adobe without asking to save the file first. I can't see how to make Adobe 8 work like the previous versions

That is a new feature in Adobe Acrobat 8. You can't change it.

  • Scanning directly into Photoshop Elements 8 from Officejet 5740

I just installed an Officejet 5740 All-In-One. I did the standard install and am able to print fine. I would like to be able to scan directly into Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 running on Mac OSX 10.10. When I go to the File>Import menu, the new device doesn't show up. Is there something else that I need to install or configure for this to work?

Hey , Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are experiencing issues when scanning from your HP Officejet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer to Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 on your Mac OS X 10.10 computer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this scanning issue. Now, your product is fully supported when scanning through the HP Scan software and the Mac Scan software on your computer. Therefore, to start troubleshooting I would like you to confirm that the supported software functions with your machine. Can I please have you follow the steps below.  To start troubleshooting please click here. Once the support document opens please click the drop down for 'Scanning a Photo or Document'. Next, follow the steps listed to complete the scan under the supported HP Scan or HP Utility Software.  If the scanner fails to perform under the HP software then a driver issue may be occuring. Should this be the case please follow the steps below to confirm that the correct HP Officejet driver is being utilised by your printer and not the Apple Airprint driver.
    1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences. 2. Click Print & Scan, and then check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list. 3. Click the name of your printer, click the minus sign (), and then delete the printer.  4. Click the plus sign (), click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, 5. Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Ensure that the Officejet driver is selected and not the Airprint.   6. Click Add to add the printer to the list.  Once the printer has been confirmed as installed with the HP driver, please test scanning through the HP Scan software again. Once you're able to scan successfully through the HP Scan software please test scanning through the Adobe Photoshop software again.  Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. I look forward to hearing from you. Good luck!

  • Problem - I can import from mailbox but not scan directly into PDF

    Hi guys,
    I hope you can help.
I have a Xerox 7132 printer/scanner/copier which has been set up and working on a small office network for a while now. Recently two users of four have found they can no longer scan directly into Acrobat Standard 9 from the application. (The other two are fine and can do everything as before. One is using Acrobat Standard 9 and the other Pro X).The two who have the problem are able to scan to email. They can also scan (from the scanner) to a mail box. However if they stay at their machines and using Acrobat choose to create PDF - scan etc. etc. and then choose to hide native menu, when they click scan an error pops up which simply says - 'PARAMETER'. Not Bad parameter or anything else, just the one word - PARAMETER.
I found a few bits and pieces on 'Bad Parameter' which state the fix as selecting the scanner. In this case the scanner is selected - 'Xerox Network Scanner'.
I can ping and find the scanner. I can print to it. I can scan into a mailbox. I just lost functionality to print direct from the Acrobat Standard 9. I have to first  scan the item into a mailbox, and then import it into Acrobat.
    I'm running XP Pro SP3.
Acrobat is version 9.5.2 and it is fully updated.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

I can't tell you why the 3G isn't recognized by FCP and I have no way to test whether it's normal since I don't have access to that model. But just to suggest that you use Image Capture to bring the clips  into your computer and then import those into FCP. An extra step, but FWIW, that's the workflow I use for the 4S – even though it appears in the import window.
As for your missing Desktop listing, I have experienced that and as I recall I trashed preferences and it reappeared. BTW, I assume shows properly in your Finder sidebar?

    - I have Adobe CS6 Master Collection Suite.
    - The .MVC file format is a format called MultiViewCoding and it is a standard from Sony consumer (TD10E) and professional 3D-Camcorders, also for JVC-Everio consumer 3D-Camcorders!
    - The .MVC is a such of H.264-AVC codec format.
    My Questions:
    1) It is possible to import an .MVC 3D-Stereoscopic file directly into Adobe CS5.5 (in example: from Sony and JVC-Everio 3D-Camcorders) ???
    2) It's possible to import an .MVC files directly into PremierePro CS5.5 - CS6 without any plugin and without Cineform Neo3D plugin?

  • New to Aperture - Can I scan directly into it?

Hi, everyone: I hope you can help me - I still do traditional black & white film photography and am going to get a Nikon Cool Scan V to scan in my negatives. I just purchased Aperture and am eager to use it, but don't see anything in the manual about scanning directly into the program (like I used to do with photoshop). Can someone please tell me if this is possible?
Otherwise, I guess the scanner will come with software and I'll just scan to that and tranfer to Aperture? Seems like a pain!!
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Mac Book Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

A related thought - if you don't want to use ImageCapture, you could use something like Vuescan and just set up an Automator action on a hot-folder that you scan into.
The upshot - this should be pretty easy, similar to the tethered shooting options.
Good luck! That's a great scanner you've got coming to you.

  • How can I scan directly into Ps CS4 on a Mac when Rosetta wont work?

I'm using a Mac Pro Quadcore with Snow Leopard version 10.6.8 and want to scan photos straight into Ps CS4 version 11.0.2 using a Canon Canoscan LIDE 100.
BUT when I go to Import there is no TWAIN option, there is only: Variable Data Sets (grayed out), Video Frames to Layers, Anti-Alised PICT, PICT Resources and Notes (grayed out).
I right click on Adobe Photoshop CS4 inside the Ps CS4 folder to bring up "Get Info" and click the check box that states "Open using Rosetta" BUT when I click open the Ps icon to open it Ps crashes straight away. I click "Reopen" and it crashes straight away. Un tick the Rosetta check box and Ps opens fine.
I assumed this was Apples problem because Rosettas is their program but after walking it through the Apple care operator and following his instructions to download a PowerPC version of VLC (which started up fine without doing a thing)to see if Rosetta was automatically installed, it worked fine,  I was told that it's an Adobe problem. Urrrggghhh
Then I downloaded the TWAIN plugin and dropped it into the import-export folder and NOTHING!
The scanner works with Snow Leopards native Image Capture so it's not the scanner. Except that the scanner buttons dont seem to work when they used to on a MacBook. But here on the Mac Pro I cant find anything within the Ps menus that resembles "permission" to scan.
I need to do a lot of photo correction/remove blurred/restoration and read that it's better to scan the old photos straight into Ps to ensure no quality is lost during the scan. Regardless if this 100% true I still should be able to scan straight into Ps. I mean the CS4 package + Mac cost enough.
What is it that I'm doing wrong or missing here? Any help would be sooo appreciated!

Hi Mate - I'm using CS4 Extended Ps v11.0.2, according to the Adobe site photoshop instals a 32 bit version only. How can I find out exactly by checking out preferences etc? I'll have to go hunt out the box.
    Thanks for the reply.

  • HT3669 I can no longer scan directly from Adobe applications.  Will this ever be fixed?

I used to be able to scan directly from my C6100 HP printer scanner, but with the upgrade to Lion it is no longer possible.  HP indicates you have to scan from preferences and select the scanner.
I have scanned documente succesfully from a Brother wireless printer, but not from the HPs

Why do folks feel this is an absolute necessity? Just scan the image to a folder, then open it in Photoshop. There's no need for it to open directly into PS.

  • __Just bought a Canon Scanner (CanoScan9000F) - how do I scan directly into Photoshop CS5?

I have a CanoScan 9000F scanner - I'm trying to scan through Photoshop CS5 Extended but I just can't figure it out...
    I downloaded the TWAIN plug-in:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/405/kb405072.html

Canoscan comes with a bunch of software including ScanGear - in manual it says you should use this instead of Twain (don't know why that) or VIA. If you installed everything correctly you should see the it in File->Import->CanoScan 9000F.
On the other hand I have few questions, maybe someone can help:
    - how to I scan 48bit images into PSE ?
    - is it possiblle to automate dirt / scratch removal for b/w negatives (FARE) ?
    - maybe you know of a plug-in that can do it - I have thousands of black and white films to scan, and doing it by hand is not really an option (for colour materials FARE works great)
Other than that i find the scanner quite good, especially the ability to scan more than one frame at a time - I can set it up in a moment (LED light is great, no warm-up time for a scanner finally), and then let it to the work, while i do my work - as scanning - mebye due to the fact that my computer is not the fastest out there) is still slow - 4 slides take > 30 minutes. But the results are very nice - if you want to check the quality, here is the link to my photographs scanned in PSE and Canoscan (origanally at 3200 dpi, resized for the web).

I want to scan archival family photos into Lightroom directly from my Fujitsu Scansnap ix500.
    Can this be done?

Lightroom does not have any provisions to work with a scanner. You will need to use other software to scan your images and  store them on your hard drive. Then you can import them into Lightroom from there.

  • Trouble inporting scanned item into Adobe Photoshop

Suddenly when I import a photo from my Epson scanner it does not import into my organizer in my adobe photoshop;I t says it is in C:Users/Rachel/AppData/local and I cannot find it. Help

Thank you for the suggestion, I have tried converting the catalog from the psa file as well as restoring from the psb (backup) file and neither one is working on my new computer.  It partially converts the catalog from Photoshop Album (PSA) 2 but then all the file links are broken in Photoshop Elements (PSE) 9.  I have about 10,000 photos in this catalog, so it is a lot of files.  I still have my old computer so I tried installing PSE 9 on it and then it converted the PSA catalog fine, so I backup up the PSE 9 catalog on my old computer and tried doing a restore from this backup on my new computer and same thing, only some of the files come through.

  • How do i scan from canon 9000f directly into photoshop cc?

Just purchase Canon 9000f scanner and I don't want to use the "my image garden". I want to scan directly into Photoshop CC, but can't figure it out.

For the Mac version of Photoshop, there is File > Import > Images from Device...   Auto Selection is set to "Detect Separate Items". Do you have that option?  (Mavericks 10.9.4)
Is that what you are looking for?  It will scan the two maps separately and bring them in to Photoshop CC 2014 as scan.png and scan1.png

  • Scanning directly to a .pdf document

I just bought a new computer (with Windows 8) and installed Adobe Reader XI.  With that Adobe product is it possible to scan directly into .pdf documents?  Or must one upgrade/buy to some other version of Adobe?  I used to be able to scan directly to .pdf documents from my scanner/printer using file/create pdf/from scanner  but that route doesn't appear available now.

If you did that using an Adobe product, it wasn't Reader. More than likely Acrobat.
But, you're scanner may have software that will scan directly to PDF. I'd check with the manufacturers.

  • How do you scan pages into an existing PDF document?

Older versions of Acrobat would let you scan additional pages right into the currently opened PDF file and would ask do you want to insert before/after document start and after a certain page number.
Now we have the newer version of Adobe and I have found out that you scan scan a document into a new PDF file and save it and then import it into the currently open PDF but isn't there a way to do this direct without creating a new PDF file like the older versions did?
    Thanks

    Hello!
To scan directly into the pdf file should go to:
Panel "Tools" / Insert  Pages / More Insert Options / Insert from Scanner / ...
You can also right-click the tool "More Insert Options" and select Add to Quick Tools.

  • Does Apple's ImageKit really allow scan import into Photoshop?

    On this page Adobe claims:
If your scanner manufacturer does not support scanning in 64-bit mode, or you have issues scanning with TWAIN, you can scan into Photoshop CS6 using Apple’s ImageKit technology, which is built into Photoshop CS6, does not need a plug-in to be installed, and provides access to a large number of scanners.
That doesn't work with my Epson Perfection V350 Photo. I wonder if it actually works with any scanner. With Photoshop CS6 have wiped out many scanners that don't have 64-bit compliant drivers, why doesn't Adobe connect with Apple's Image Capture app? Why doesn't the V350 work with the ImageKit technology alllegedly part of Photoshop CS6?
Adobe needs to restore the import from scanner capability that has been part of Photoshop for years.

    Hi nicmart,
The ImageKit scanning feature in Photoshop CS6 supports exactly the same scanners as Image Capture does. Unfortunately, this feature is currently broken in Photoshop when running Mountain Lion (CS6 was released prior to the release of Mountain Lion). We are working closely with Apple to resolve the problem. This issue has been discussed in detail in several other forum threads since the release of ML. As soon as we have more information, we will let people here in the forum know.
If you are running Lion or Snow Leopard, you should find that indeed a large number of scanners are supported without any additional software needed, and can be used to scan directly into Photoshop CS6. Apple publishes a list of hundreds of supported scanners in a tech note, which you can find at <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669>
