Scanner/Fax That Works?

Anyone want to suggest a laser scanner/fax machine/printer (all in one) that works in 10.6 - one that simply 1) will scan from a document feeder so that multi-pages can be made/saved into one PDF on any computer on the network and sent to clients (absolutely the most important feature); 2) one that will act as a simple old time Fax that plugs into the AT&T wall outlet so I can send and receive Fax's the old fashioned way (also important); and 3) that I can print from if my other network printer needs a breather? Must be something that is networkable (Airport) OR at worst - for scanning - something that I can plug into one iMac and access from others across the network (this last need is for scanning only - scans can be dragged and dropped to other computers if need be).
My HP Color LaserJet CM 2320 nf MFP is not going to do it for scanning with 10.6 and I need something that will work like a mule (HP support has no idea if or when a scan driver will be available for that device - and the dadgum thing is only 14 months old with a 3 year "CarePack").
Any product suggestions are most appreciated.

I am using the HP all-in one officejet pro L7780 without any problems. Here is a link to compatible hp products

and here is a link to installing hp products on snow leopard
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01846935&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en &product=2512010
Since Snow Leopard includes the printer drivers with the OS I suspect that other manufacturers will have similar information and that the key to getting your printer to work is uninstalling the old 10.5 drivers and re-installing the new 10.6 drivers
Hope this helps

  • Recommendations for a Scanner that works with Mac OS 10.6.4

Hi: I bought my first iMac back in February 2010 and have really been enjoying it. However, I would like to know a good scanner to scan mostly pictures. Any recommendations are welcome.
    Thanks.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions,
Any Scanner that supports TWAIN should work fine. Look for that when reviewing scanners. I have an HP multifunction printer that has a scanner and that works fine for me. Although if you are looking for a photo scanner then there are others perhaps better suited for the task out there.
Here is a nice list of reviews: http://www.macworld.com/products/input_devices/scanners.html

  • Which Printer/Scanner/Fax

Can anyone recommend a good printer/scanner/fax that is compatible with my Powerbook G4? Right now I have the HP officejet 6110 all in one and the scanner does not work with my Mac (I had it when I used a PC) So I want to get a new printer/scanner/fax and want to know what is the best or a really good one that can doe everything (if it prints photos even better)
    Thanks in advance....
    Ellen

Any AIO with fax does not require the Mac to be turned on to send and receive hard copy faxes. If you wanted to send from your Mac then of course it would have to be turned on.

  • I have a Mac OS 10.6.7 that will not activate the scanner option on a C7280 HP All in One Printer, Fax, Scanner - the Printer works fine but the scanner does not - any suggestions?

I have a Mac OS 10.6.7 that will not activate the scanner portion of an HP C7280 All in One - prints fine  - but won't activate scanner.

I have the same problem with an HP Scanjet 8250 and my Epson Stylus NX400.  I have reloaded allegedly updated drivers.  I have researched using SANE.  Neither scanner wants to work since the  OS X10.6 update.  I have found very little out there about this problem.
Can anyone help me make these bricks work?  Really would like a solution that won't cost me hundreds to replace the equipment. Thanks so much.

  • I have an older HP5550C flatbed scanner that works with 10.5 and 10.6 but not on my new iMac running 10.7

I have an older HP5550C flatbed scanner that works with 10.5 and 10.6 but not on my new iMac running 10.7. Surely there is software that will allow older scanners to work on OS10.7. My MacBook Pro runs 10.6 and the

Although the HP Scanjet shows up in the system profile for the computer it is generic and is not configured (as in screen shot).  It also does not show up in the ;ist of pritnters, scanner when I open Image Capture.  I can't load the software that came with the printer because it is out of date so that would make it impossible to configure the scanner on the new iMac. see below:  Too bad there isn't some generic profile I could load that would cover the 5550c. I have a new all in one printer-fax-scanner but the old one can scann in slides and negatives which I have.

For that model, Epson has this information:
    ICA Scanner Driver
    07/17/12
Description: The latest Mac OS X ICA scanner driver for your Epson product is available only via Apple's Software Update. Here's how to get it:
    1. Connect the all-in-one or scanner to your Mac and power it on.
    2. Select the  menu, then Software Update.
    3. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the available updates.
Note: Software Updates may find multiple updates for your system. You may choose to install all or some of the updates by clicking on Show Details.
Compatible Systems: Mac OS X (v10.8.x)

  • PIXMA MG5420: scanner doesn't work, get error message that driver will be closed 3 202 19

For some reason, the scanner will not work.   Initially when I click on Autoscan on the PC menu  the message reads that the scanner is warming up.  Then I get an Error Message:  Internal Error Occurred Scanner Driver Will be Closed.  I don' t know what I'm doing wrong all of  a sudden.  There is only one computer in the network, mine, and I'm trying to scan from the 5420 via a USB cable into my HP laptop (Windows 8.1 64 bit).
Copying and printing work fine.  Where do I even start?

    Hi ellenrozsa,
The IJ Network Scanner Selector EX application will need to be running in order for you to scan wirelessly.  If the IJ Network Scanner Selector EX is running, its icon appears in the notification area of the taskbar as shown below:
If the icon is not displayed in the notification area of the taskbar, please click IJ Network Scanner Selector EX on the Start screen.  If IJ Network Scanner Selector EX is not displayed on the Start screen, select the Search charm, then search for "IJ Network Scanner Selector EX".
In the notification area of the taskbar, right-click the IJ Network Scanner Selector EX icon and select Settings....
Select your scanner or printer from Scanners, then click the OK button.
    Hope this helps!

  • I GIVE UP on HP - Recco for new printer/scanner that WORKS?

I have wasted several hours trying to get my brand new HP F4180 All-In-One printer to scan.
I can print, but I can not scan. I have tried installing the software from the disc, and downloaded the new beta software. The beta software always says installed successfully, then reports 0 bytes installed and HP application folder is empty. I have already tried deleting the folder and uninstalling the printer and reinstalling. I have repaired permissions. I have rebooted several times. Nothing ever installs.
I have read the forums and found hundreds of complaints and some people seem to have fixed things but nothing has worked for me.
My time is more valuable than this completely useless printer/scanner. If I didn't need the scanner I wouldn't have bought an all in one.
Can anyone recommend an all in one printer/scanner with a scanner that works out of the box under Leopard. Epson? Anything that I could buy at the Apple Store retail or Best Buy?
Would be great if you could scan while attached to an Airport Extreme under Bonjour, but I am guessing I may need a direct USB connection
If you make a recco and it works, I will promise NEVER to buy anything from HP again. I swear.

I have a Canon PIXMA MP600 that I bought less than a year ago at the apple store. I just tried scanning with it and it appears to work great under Leopard. Note that it's critical to download the latest drivers from Canon (one of which was updated literally yesterday), and not use the software on the CD that comes with the printer.
I've played with HP printers before and it seems like the Canon software is smaller and simpler.
WRT the Airport Extreme, as far as I know you can only print if you have the printer plugged into that, not scan.

  • I recently up dated my OS to 10.7.3 and I get a "can't open application because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.  Can this be restored?  If not do you know if Epson has drivers for my scanner that work around this?

You cannot run PPC software in Lion. Go to Epson's website to see if they have an updated scanner driver. If they don't then you can try using VueScan if it supports your scanner model.

  • Can't scan over routed scanner that worked fine on same network?

Prior to being across a router, my multifunction printer (Brother-DCP 8085DN) would happily appear in Image Capture, and scanning worked flawlessly.  It now resides on a separate network segment.
I deleted and re-added the printer object, using each if IPP, LPD, and HPJD protocols, specifying the IP address and in each instance it recognized and auto-installed a cups driver for that model.  None of these were successful for scanning, although it prints fine.
Any ideas where to start?  I see no traffic failing to pass between the mac and the printer.

Yes, and their scanner driver can't see it.  Their support provided a troubleshooting document, essentially to see if you could ping the printer.  Suffice to say none of that worked or was particularly helpful.
Given that I didn't need the driver when it was on the same subnet, I am trying to figure out what is requiring a local network address to scan, but not to print.

  • Scanner that Works with 10.6 Snow Leopard?

Has anyone found a scanner that works with 10.6 Snow Leopard and also handles 35mm negatives & slides? My HP Scanjet 4570c is “dead in water.” HP has said they will not provide a driver update for this model.

If you, like me, are ****** off about how poorly HP is handling/not handling this scanner functionality issue then I suggest that you email the CEO, Chairman, and the Board of Directors of HP. I just finished sending my email to all of them. You can do the same by going to the web site listed below and follow the instructions on that web page. When I sent my messages I typed, "Do you care that HP is losing customers?" in the SUBJECT line of my email. I seriously doubt that this will result a solution to our problems, but at least you can let them know that they have lost another customer.

I bought an epson xp650 a couple of months ago and cannot fault it. It does everything I require and it is the wifi model so I can print directly from my ipad/iphone. Not sure if you are asking about the colour of the unit or just to be able to print black and white, Obviously all printers will print black and white but just to give you a little more info the printer I bought is the white version and it looks really nice sat next to my imac 27''
    Hope this helps.
