Scanning local Network

I tring to scan local Network!!!
How can we find all ips or hosts of local Network????
Thanks!:)
Best, Aram.

I have the same problem.
I use a mysql database together with my own written java program (huge).
Now I create a new client in my program, and i want to give him acces to the mysql database.
This isn't really hard, BUT:
When you create a user in mysql (with GRANT) you can use a host name. Because if you don't that user can acces the database from every pc within the local network. I don't want that to happen.
So when a new user will be created I would like to have a JComboBox with all the active Pc's that are on my local network.
Can it be made????
otherwise is there a windows command (in command line) that let you see all the pc's that are available in a local network???

  • ARD 2.2 Admin Crashes When Scanning Local Network

Out of the blue, my ARD Admin application began to crash when scanning the Local Network.
I deleted the application's preferences file (com.apple.RemoteDesktop.plist) and retried with the same results.
Installed ARD admin application on a different machine with a fresh 10.4.2 OS install and it is still crashing whilst scanning.
My Network Engineers swears that nothing has changed recently on the network.
Wondering if anyone else has seen this.

I was having the same problem until this morning, and one of my associates in a neighbor district discovered the problem. ARD 2.2 is VERY concerned about DNS entries.
We are using OS X Server for our DNS, and what I did was create a bogus machine entry for each subnet. Thus, if I wanted to search our senior high lab subnet (10.136.43.x) I created an entry for 10.136.43.0. There is no physical machine at that address, but it forces OS X Server to create an IN-ADDR.ARPA record for that subnet. I found that to be a lot easier than manually editing the associated DNS files.
It does work superbly. Three other folks in our district with ARD crashes tried doing searches and they were all successful. Adding the IN-ADDR.ARPA entries wasn't time consuming as we don't have a ton of subnets . We've defined standards for where machines should be as follows:
    (Device: Range)
    Switches: 10.x.1.100-150
    Printers: 10.x.2.1-50
    DHCP: 10.x.2.150-254
    Classrooms: 10.x.3.1-254
    Labs: 10.x.4.1-100
    Media Center: 10.x.4.101-150
The junior high and high school are a bit different because they have more lab machines, but we try to stick to the basic scheme. This works great for us because 1) it allows us to know where devices should appear and 2) it greatly limits the range ARD must scan to pick up all machines of a particular kind (e.g. classroom or lab). We have a bit of reconfiguration to do because we should be able to have static classroom and DHCP units all within the 10.x.3 subnet, but that will be taken care of over the course of this year.
I hope this helps some folks.

  • ARD not finding any computers on local network scan

I've installed ARD 3.2.2 on a g5 xserv and when I use the scanner to scan the local network I find no computers. If I change to Bonjour, network address, or network range I can find computers. My xserv has the nics teamed through hp procurve managed switches. ARD 3.2.1 worked fine on this box when it was 10.4.11 but I'm not sure if the nics were teamed. Has anyone else found similar behavior with teamed nics or is this an ARD 3.2.2 problem?

I forgot to mention that I'm also running a different copy of ARD 3.2.2 on my macbook pro and the scanning the local network returns all the computers on our network. The xserv in question is setup to be a task server but still shows the problem without being a task server.

  • Machines avail on Bonjour but not Local Network - when on same subnet?

I have a simple system running ARD 3.2 on a machine running OS X 10.5.2, controlling a small number of machines running 10.5.2 or 10.4.11, all on the same sub-net.
Two of the computers - both 20" Intel iMacs (2.0GHz CoreDuo) with 10.5.2 installed have an odd problem - most (but not all) of the time they show up in the ARD computers list as being available for Screen Sharing Only - and so things like copying files to the machine fail. Their entries have the 'light blue' icon next to them which appears to indicate this state.
When in this mode they initially fail to show up when I do a scan of the local network. They should - as they are running off the same Airport hub as the ARD controller. However, if I change the scan to look for Bonjour connected computers they show up. If I then go back to scanning the local network they show up there too. But still nothing more than the light blue icon and screen sharing only as an option.
I've checked the settings of both machines - both have ARD enabled in sharing, both have the firewall set to allow all incoming connections. Other machines connected to the same sub-net show up and can be used without problem. All the machines are running ARD client 3.2.1
Anyone got any ideas what might be going on?
Grateful for any advice / suggestions.

Almost same setting here, same troubles.
If I restart them via Screen Sharing via the Restart Button on the Login Window, they sometimes show up correctly. But this is way too annoying.

  • HP LASERJET PRO 200 MFP M276NW - Can't scan to Network Folder

    Hi there,
The scan to email works but not the scan to Network Folder. I have tried a lot of things but I give up.
I have given permissions to all and after share a folder it appears as shared... but does not work.
The OS is Windows 7. Hope you can help me with this because I will use a lot the scan to shared folder option.
    Thanks in advance,
    Fran

    Hi skile88,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand you are unable to setup the scan to network.
I will be happy to help you.
It is usually a issue with the Network Path for the network folder created.
Create a folder anywhere on the computer.
Right click the folder and left click properties, select the Sharing tab, click the Share button, select who you want to share the folder with or everyone. On the same Sharing tab copy  the Network Path. (example \\envy1730\users \Envy\desktop\networkfolder
In the embedded web server for the printer go to the Scan tab, select network folder setup, paste in the path for the network folder. Go through the wizard.
If those steps don't work then follow steps 1, 2, 3, to resolve this issue to try and get the network folder and path.
Step one: Make sure that the computer user account is password protected.
1.Click the Windows icon, then click Control Panel.
2.Click User Accounts, then select the account you used to log into the    computer.
3.Click Change your Windows password, then find the user account you used to log into the computer.
•If the user account is password protected, continue to the next step.
•If the user account is not password protected, click Create a password for your account to create a password, and then continue to the next step.
Step two: Define the network location
1.Click the Windows icon, then click Control Panel.
    2.Click Network and Sharing Center.
3.In the View your active networks section, click Public network under your network name. The Set Network Location window opens.
4.Select Home Network or Work Network, then click Close.
Step three: Make sure that the network sharing and discovery options are correct
1.Open the Network and Sharing Center window.
2.Click Choose homegroup and sharing options.
3.In the Share libraries and printers section, select Documents.
4.In the Other homegroup actions section, click Change advanced sharing settings.
5.In the Advanced sharing settings window, make sure that the following network options are turned on:
    •Network discovery
    •File sharing
•Public folder sharing (read and write access)
    •Password protected sharing
    6.Click Save changes.
7.Your computer network is now successfully set to complete the Scan and Fax to Network. Folder or Digital Fax to Network Folder Wizard.
I believe that this will provide a resolution to your issue. Thank you.
Please click “Accept as Solution ” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
Click the “Kudos Thumbs Up" on the right to say “Thanks” for helping!

  • Scan To Network Folder Fails Post Install of Firmware Due To Password No Longer Being Passed

The scan to network folder has been working for over a year on my OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus to a file share in a QNAP NAS. HP CLP1CN1435AR firmware was applied to the printer in Dec 2014. Upon my first need to use the scan to network folder feature in 2015 I find that it no longer works. Attempts to validate the once working scan setup failed. Though a variety of tests I have determined that the password entered into the web server on the printer is NOT being passed as part of the logon credentials to the QNAP.
I tested every possible combination going back to ground zero and starting fresh with multiple new user ids, passwords, network shares, 8 character user names, simple passwords, IP or hostnames in the network path, requiring SSL or not, etc. With each test, I validated that I could sign on directly to the NAS and that the user ID was authorized to change files in the network share. With each fail, I validated the logs in the router and in the NAS that traffic looked normal and it was the sign on credentials were the reason the NAS rejected the sign on. The only thing that worked was a guest ID from the NAS which does not HAVE a password. Any requirement for a password during the sign on to the NAS will not be honored or satisfied by the new firmware.
This is an egregious error - something that should have never made it out of even the first level of testing within HP. I would love to inform HP about this discovery but alas, my printer is 2 DAYS out of warranty so the forum is well the only voice with HP that I have.
Now I have to set up an unprotected area of my NAS by giving the gest account access which means that anyone who plugs a network cable behind my firewall gets to see the scanned information. Now I am very sorry I applied the firmware. Now I am getting to be sorry that I bought this and another HP printer despite being a customer for years.
I would love some help from HP but not going to put out for an extended warranty or pay for phone support for something that I have easily and clearly tested to be a problem with the new firmware.
If anyone has figured a way around this, please let me know. Hopefully it will help focus someone else who is experiencing the same problem. Network configurations can differ, ect but I am pretty sure the rash of posts in the last couple of months about the scan to network folder feature have the fail to pass the password error as the root cause.
Unhappily & insecurely scanning to a very public folder share until then. Information that is vulnerable regardless of how brief of a moment until it is moved off the share is still vulnerable information. It’s not something I can live with for the long term.

    Hi @Road_Trip ,
I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publically post ( serial numbers and case details).
If you are unfamiliar with how the Forum's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

  • How can I  connect to SQL server database thru local network by using JSP?

I'm currently doing a project by using JSP..And I need to display record from the SQL Server database in our school's local network. May I know how can I do that? How can I write the code so that I can able to access the SQL Server databsase Throught school's network by using JSP? Please tell me step by step how can I do that. I'm using Tomcat 4.1 as Web Server. And I had J2SE and J2EE installed in my computer.

first you have to establish a ODBC DSN on your computer,
that connects to the database...you can do that from your control pannel.
i assume that the TOMCAT server is residing on your computer....(if the webserver is in other computer then you would have to create a System DSN on the data sources ODBC option in the settings>control pannel of that machine)
then you can use that DSN name to connect to the data base from the class file....for further assistance on how to create the class that access the tutorials in sun site.

  • Scan to network folder will not work for Yosemite

Scan to network folder, which is supposed to allow the unit to scan and save to a shared directory on a remote computer, does not work in Yosemite,  though it will work on Macs sporting earlier OS on same network.
HP personnel have indicated that HP does not support Apple Mavericks. One can only assume then that it will not work on Yosemite either
Yet these units are still being sold to be used with Apple OSX.
Please resolve HP's position.  If these units will not function properly under Mavericks and Yosemite, please explicitly say so.  The scan to network feature should not have anything to do with any OS issue, and it is much more likely that the issue is faulty HP firmware.
If these units are supposed to fully function under Mavericks and Yosemite,  please provide substantive resolution of the many many problems users have experienced.
The Scan to Network feature is what makes using these units viable as scanners. The fact that this works poorly at best, and not at all on any recent Apple OS, is simple acceptable

    IT IS OFFICIAL
HP Case Manager has indicated that HP is abandoning Scan to Network Folder starting with Yosemite as OS security constraints present issues with using its current transport.
Of course this took an hour of double talk and fiddling about before the admission was forthcoming...
Shall we count the days until that information actually shows up in the forums?

  • HP LaserJet Pro 200: Scanning to Network Folder on windows server 2012 - can't find folder

I have searched everywhere and tried every suggested solution with no luck.   Hence this post.
I have an HP Laserjet Pro 200 on our small company network (domain).   We use windows server 2012 as our domain controller and as our file and print server.
There is a shared folder on the windows server that is shared read/write with everyone on the domain.
I can access the shared folder from any computer on our network.
However, when trying to setup the scan to network folder capability,  the HP web interface always comes back that it can't find the network folder.
I have tested that it will work on our network if I want to scan to a shared folder on any of the other computers on our network (other than the main server).
So it appears to be some sort of security / firewall issue with our server, perhaps ?
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this issue?   Is there any technical documentation on how a server environment needs to be changed to allow this to work ?   (BTW,  this used to work,  about a week ago and nothing changed except for installing the latest HP laserjet drivers on the windows server.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

Yes correct, but see OPs previous post.

I had tried as U sad, Manivel! but there were problems .. tnx, anyway!+Ok. I can understand that you want to know why / how it failed, but using URI/URL is in this case not the best way. Using the normal File class and UNC name is far more common.

  • Cisco ASA 5505 - EasyVPN - ARD can't scan remote Networks

    Hi all,
We have been installing Cisco ASA5505 to hook our systems and remote offices together.  Our first install went great, and I can scan the remote network no problem, this network is setup using the site to site VPN setup.
Since then we have added 3 more ASA5505 so the the mix, these are not running via the Site to Site VPN but are rather using the EZVPN.
On the Remote ASAs using EasyVPN, I cannot scan the networks with ARD or even Ping.
I am wondering if anyone has any insights on this?  I know this info is a bit sketchy...
I will post more as I get it.

  • Configuring Cisco ASA for site to site VPN ( Issue with setting up local network)

OK, so our primary firewall is a checkpoint gateway. Behind that we have a cisco ASA for vpn users. I have a project at the moment where we need to connect to another company using site to site VPN through the cisco ASA, as the checkpoint gateway is unable to establish a permanent tunnel with the other companies Cisco ASA.
What would be the best practise for setting up the local network on my side? Create the network on the ASA and then use a L2 vlan to connect to the Core switch?
Setup a L3 interface on the core switch and point it towards the checkpoint gateway which would then point to the ASA?
When you have to select your local network through the site to site wizard do you have to put the inside network address of the ASA?
Our network is setup like this: Access layer switch > Core 6500 Switch > Checkpoint-Firewall > Internet
The ASA is connected to a checkpoint sub interface
Any help would be beneficial as im new to cisco ASAs
    Thanks

If we understood more about your environment we might be able to give you better answers. My initial reaction was similar to the suggestion from Michael to use a L2 vlan. But as I think a bit more my attention is drawn to something that you mention in the original post. The ASA is there for VPN users. If the VPN users need to access your internal network then you probably already have something configured on the ASA that allows access to the internal network. Perhaps that same thing might provide access for your site to site VPN?

  • Iphone 4 with ios 5 and 6 with intermittent wifi.  Sometimes I can find my networks but they don't stay and sometimes my phone cannot scan for networks

I never had a problem with ios 4.  I add an issue with my last iphone 4, my fault.  Apple sent me a new phone with ios 5.  Worked great for a couple of weeks.  Then my wifi started dropping.  Not a huge deal.  Picked it up again.  Then it happened more frequently and the wifi dropped.  Not happy.  Then it stopped locating my home router completely.  "Could not scan for networks".  Awesome.  So I updated to ios 6.  WORSE.  Wifi greyed out.  So I found a solution (thank you) from someone on the forum to stop all running programs (home menu twice and hit x to programs on there) and shut phone off for 5 minutes.  No more grey-out wifi, but scanning still didn't work.  But then occasionally it did.  Weird.  I've tried all the 'creative' suggestions like resetting networks/ phone, router, etc.  This is not a problem with just a few phones.  I have seen several posts from people who are having this same problem.  Some say it's software; some say hardware.  I don't know what to think.  Now it's back to 'could not scan for networks'.  I've tried to change settings on my iphone and router.  I don't know how to reset my router to factory settings (Cisco), but am working on that.  Seriously though... I shouldn't have to jump through hoops here.  Apple should be bending over backwards to resolve this annoying issue.  Yet.. no word from Apple.  No timeline for this fix.  I have run the gamuet (sp?) on fixes for all kinds of wifi issues.  I feel like I've had them all short of water damage (absolutely no water has touched my phone through my cage-like case).  So.  On Monday... I may have to take my phone in to an Apple store to see if I can get a replacement.  Software/hardware/who cares.  I shouldn't have to search on here for a solution.  The answer SHOULD be easy and resolved.  I'm thoroughly annoyed.

Restoring from backup does not seem to always restore the password for email accounts.

  • How to set up with cacheing DNS for local network?

Our new Lion Server has a static IP Address pointed to over the internet by our registrar's zone file. Planning the Lion Server installation process with the intent of hosting Web, Mail and Open Directory services to a small number of users who are nearly all located off-site. I do also want Lion Server to be a caching DNS Server and DHCP authority on the local network to replace what dnsmasq does on our current Linux server.
I am looking forward to offloading some of the lower level Linux administration tasks and putting myself in the hands of the Lion Server Setup Assistant and Server App :-) but at the same time don't understand some of  its assumptions and fear having to spend a lot of time experimenting and re-installing.
So, specifically, I want the Server App to know that my Lion Server has a "Host Name for the Internet" but that the DNS it sets up will not be the DNS for my zone - I will be managing that through my registrar's interfaces.
Second problem is my fnot understanding what name space devices on the local network will / should use. e.g.  The Linux server will be available for backups etc  on the local intranet (and optionally have a static ip address on the Internet) but MacBooks, PCs, iPads and iPhones will be served ip addresses by the Lion Server's DHCP. So will / should these dynamic devices have their machine names fully qualified by our domain name with RFC 1918 style ip addresses or something like .local?  How do I tell this to Lion's Server App / Setup Assistant? How easy is it to update these initial settings later?

You do indeed need to have a master zone on lion server.  There's no way to get around that since Open Directory depends on Kerberos and Kerberos depends on the DNS.  LS scripts may see that the rDNS record exists, but I highly doubt that it'll auto configure everything for you... and given the number of possible variables, I bet that even if it worked something would need additional tweaking.
Sounds like an interesting lab excersize.  You should try it on a test server!
Again... you just need to folow the set up procedure that Lion Server presents you with.
It won't be smart enough to see your external records and use them to configure a key distribution center for your OD.
As far as your caching needs...  Could you set up your DHCP server to set the DNS server setting to show your internal server as the first hit, and your external as the second?  That way when the client requests a resolution it'll not get a hit on your local server but will from the external?
The question then is how long will it wait for a response from the first server?  Or will the first server respond with "I don't know" sending the client immediately to the second.
The server set up that I have works similarly.  I have an internal master DNS that is replicated to a secondary.  The first DNS has an A record (community.server.com) that points to the INTERNAL ip address of the secondary server that's also running the web service.  The first server is running DHCP.  It tells the clients to use the first and second servers as it's DNS lookup.
Now...  Externally, my registrar hosts an A record for community.server.com that points to the external IP address of my router which then forwards the request to the proper port on the internal network.
This way, the local clients internally look up and get a response locally when they go for community.server.com.  Externally, clients that look up community.server.com get the external connection to the router in my school.
Yikes...  I fear that this is as clear as mud!
