  • SCCM 2012 R2 Empty Query in Collection

    Now, I just discovered yesterday where I created Collection with query but resulted NONE. I know there's no problem with the query itself because I created the same one within the query itself and it give me the result.
    Here's another problem with my CAS & Primary Site SCCM 2012 R2 with CU1:
    1. Created X64 (Servers & Workstations) Collection with membership rules:
    select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name,SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM on SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.ResourceID
    = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_COMPUTER_SYSTEM.SystemType = "x64-based PC"
    It doesn't give me anything (blank no computer names) even after I refresh the collection.
    BUT, when I created under \Monitoring\Overview\Queries\Results for X64 (Servers & Workstations)
    I could see the result of it.
    Is it my SQL has problem? I'm using SQL 2012 SP1.
    I even updated with CU2 now in Production but it still the same thing. I have no problem with this query above in my test environment.
    Have you come across with this issue? Thanks, Reza

  • SCCM 2012 updates, refine query

    Hi,
    Please advise on refining Windows update search SCCM 2012.
    We want to have only security and critical updates, Office, Windows 2008 R2 and 2012, X64, Internet Explorer 10 only.
    Problem:
    -can't get only Internet explorer 10 to appear (tried it in several ways, now we work with custom severity set to none then selecting/setting internet explorer 11 etc to severity none) ONLY, please advise how you do that
    -x86 updates appear (ok for Office, but not for Windows) also IA64, we only need x64
    Jan Hoedt

    Thanks for your feedback.
    Why we worry about the query? Maybe I'm missing something here too. How else can you select  select specific updates in bulk? Otherwise we'd need to evaluate one by one.
    Goal is to select all the updates of a specific query and add them to an update group, not needing to worry a wrong update slipped in (f.e. deploying IE11 would mean a disaster)
    What we want to do = deploy security and critical updates, Office, Windows 2008 R2 and 2012, X64, Internet Explorer 10 only.
    If we would just select the updates and deploy:
    indeed the not applicable updates would not be deployed but still downloaded so wasting bandwith and storage (f.e. IA64)
    also previews, internet explorer 11, 12 etc would be deployed whereas we need to stick to internet explorer 10
    If I select "title not contains"  Internet explorer 11 or title not contains not IA64 it totally ignores it.

  • WMI Query to SCCM 2012 results zero results in c#

    In 2007 this works without issues, however in 2012 when attempting the 2nd query it returns zero results.  However if I do this manually I can produce results...Here is my code:
    using (WqlConnectionManager connection = Connect(getServer))
       string query = "select * from SMS_ObjectContainerItem WHERE ContainerNodeID='" + ProfileID + "'";
       foreach (IResultObject getobject in connection.QueryProcessor.ExecuteQuery(query))
         getPackageID = getobject["InstanceKey"].StringValue;
         query = "select * from SMS_Collection WHERE CollectionID='" + getPackageID + "'";
    **This is where it will return zero results**
         foreach (IResultObject searchID in connection.QueryProcessor.ExecuteQuery(query))
            CMProfiles profile = new CMProfiles();
            profile.Name = searchID["Name"].StringValue;
            profile.ID = getPackageID;
            results.Add(profile);
    I'm pulling my hairs trying to understand by the 2nd query is not returning any results. When this works fine in SCCM 2007

    What you are using here are the SDK libraries, which are admittedly very thin wrappers around WMI, but not quite.  Have you tried implementing this directly using WMI?  I have written software that manipulates 2007 / 2012 and eventually found that
    the SDK libraries just sort of got in my way, so now I do all of my interactions with SCCM directly with WMI and forgoe the SDK libraries.
    Before I changed over, I did find that there are some oddities in using the SDK.  What I eventually found that worked for me was to bind to the 2007 SDK libraries, deliver them with my application and use the 2007 libraries regardless of if I was connecting
    to 2007 or 2012.  What I found was that I would run into issues using the 2012 libraries to talk to 2007, but the 2007 libraries would work fine with both.
    I have tested your queries, directly using WMI and PowerShell on a 2012 server and they work fine.  I am presuming that the folder that you are attempting to access is a Device Collection folder.
    Once again, I would suggest using WMI directly, especially if making a product that will work with 2007 and 2012; you will be a much happier person.
    It would be greatly appreciated if you would mark any helpful entries as helpful and if the entry answers your question, please mark it with the Answer link.

  • SCCM 2012 R2 Distribution Query

    Hello,
             Few weeks back I configured the SCCM server in single machine (SCCM, SQL, DP etc..) and I have created the ADR for Patch deployment.
            Today I have configured some Distribution Point (on Windows 2008 R2 and Windows 7 machines).
    Question:
            How should I point the new DP's (in ADR or deployment package) also to distribute the content, where I have to make the changes. Kindly help.

    Use the Distribute Content Wizard to distribute the content of the Deployment Package to the new DPs. The next time the ADR will run it will update the package on all the associated DPs.

  • SCCM 2012 - Export Query Results

    Hi guys, I have a query under "Monitoring" - "Overview" - "Queries" and have my results in the result pane however I want to print the report or export to a CSV file. I cant see an easy way to do this? Surely we dont have to create the query then
    create a report just so we can export or print the report? Information is on my screen and is exactly what I want but no obvious easy way to get this in a format that is usable
    I only see the export MOF option available
    Thanks
    Nick

    I know this is an old post but I see Garth replied a couple days ago - on this same theme I have just upgraded to Office 2013 and the cut and paste from Queries and Collections from SCCM 2012 (which worked fine in Office 2010) seems to now not
    work with my Excel 2013 - you do mention it works for you in your post.  The results I see that I have 4 columns in my results it just pastes them into 1 cell - it doesn't break up the columns.  I have tried pasting to notepad first then to Excel
    - doesn't work - also tried Paste - Special - Unicode Text or Text and still it all goes into one cell. Is there something I have to change with either SCCM or Excel to get this to work again?
    Let me know if you have run into this with Excel 2013....thanks
    Kevin
    I am seeing the same issue.  Win 7/Office 2013 fully patched.
    Edit: Got it to work by pasting into Notepad, saving as .txt and opening that file with Excel.

    Did you create a software metering rule for each software title? if not then you need you do that first and it will take over a week before you see results.
    Also keep in mind that your query will only find x86 software titles.

  • OSD: SCCM 2012 collection which should exclude Windows 7 clients (query not working fine)

    Hi,
    We have an SCCM 2012 collection to which we deploy Windows 7.
    Vista clients get a SCCM 2012 client in SCCM 2007 and once they have it, they get a Windows 7 deployment.
    The group is populated by an AD query and that works fine. However, when we try to exclude Windows 7 machines (query = not Windows NT ... 6.1) the query does not return any result.
    Please advise.
    J.
    Jan Hoedt

    Please check your query. It should be like the following.
    select SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceID,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceType,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Name,SMS_R_SYSTEM.SMSUniqueIdentifier,SMS_R_SYSTEM.ResourceDomainORWorkgroup,SMS_R_SYSTEM.Client from SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_OPERATING_SYSTEM on SMS_G_System_OPERATING_SYSTEM.ResourceId = SMS_R_System.ResourceId where SMS_G_System_OPERATING_SYSTEM.Version != "6.1.7601"

  • SCCM 2012 R2 Report using WMI Query

    I am trying to find out if I can generate a report to show which users installed what software using a report in SCCM 2012 R2 and a WMI Query.
    If not using the reporting within SCCM, then:
    1)  is it possible to pull such data via a wmi query
    2)  any suggestions how to do so?
    3)  Desktop OS is either Windows 7 or 8 or 8.1 Enterprise x64
    Thanks,
    Dave
    David Lakey

    You Can Create Query With the Software name but you can Know Which Computer and you can add System Resource as the Last login name
    This for Example:-
    From monitoring--> Create New Query--> Edit Query Statement --> Show Query Language
    past the following:-
    select SMS_R_System.NetbiosName,
    SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.DisplayName from
    SMS_R_System inner join SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS on
    SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.ResourceId =
    SMS_R_System.ResourceId where
    SMS_G_System_ADD_REMOVE_PROGRAMS.DisplayName like "%Visio%"
    After that in General you can add in Results Tap:-
    System Source and the Attribute Will be last Login name

  • QUERY TO FIND FREE DISKSPACE IN SCCM 2012 DISTRIBUTION POINT

    this is the query to get free disk space on distribution point ,but this is not working for sccm 2012 ,please help
    Select
    Distinct
    SD
    .Name0,
    SR
    .RoleName,
    LD
    .DeviceID0,
    LD
    .FreeSpace0
    * 100
    /  LD.Size0
    'Free Disk Space'
    From
    v_R_System SD
    Join
    v_Gs_Logical_Disk LD on SD.ResourceId
    = LD.ResourceId
    Join
    v_SystemResourceList SR on SD.Netbios_Name0
    = SR.ServerName
    Where
    LD.DriveType0
    = 3
    and
    SR.RoleName
    =
    'SMS Distribution Point'
    ankith

    you're probably getting 0 rows...
    v_SystemResourceList.ServerName contains the netbios+domain name, while v_Gs_Logical_Disk.Netbios_Name0 only contains the netbios name (no domain), therefore the join doesn't find any matching rows...
    You need to trim the domain name from the field {LEFT(SRL.ServerName,CHARINDEX('.', SRL.ServerName)-1)}
    try this query instead:
    SELECT DISTINCT
    SYS.Name0 As 'Device'
    ,SRL.RoleName As 'Role'
    ,LD.DeviceID0 As 'Disk',LD.FreeSpace0,LD.Size0
    ,LD.FreeSpace0 * 100 / LD.Size0 As 'Free Disk Space'
    FROM
    v_R_System As SYS
    Join v_Gs_Logical_Disk As LD on SYS.ResourceId = LD.ResourceId
    Join v_SystemResourceList As SRL on SYS.Netbios_Name0 = LEFT(SRL.ServerName,CHARINDEX('.', SRL.ServerName)-1)
    WHERE
    LD.DriveType0 = 3
    And SRL.RoleName = 'SMS Distribution Point'
    Additionally, if you notice that the LD.FreeSpace0 field returns NULL, you need to enable the hardware Inventory collection of this information [ client settings > hardware inventory > Logical Disk (SMS_LogicalDisk) > Free Space (MB) ]... Then initiate
    the hardware Inventory cycle action and it should show results...
    I don't have this field inventoried, so I cannot confirm the accuracy of the query...

  • SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 Can't Edit WMI Query Code in Report Builder

    I first posted this in the SCCM but the issue is not solved so I thought I'd try here in the SQL Reporting forum. Original thread here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/b0a6ca3d-7471-4b49-8447-7403a65c2ec0/sccm-2012-r2-cu2-cant-edit-wmi-query-code-in-sccm-reports?forum=configmanagergeneral
    I'll repost info here to make this easier.....
    I built a new SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 suite on Server 2012 R2. This also uses SQL 2012 SP1 CU6. This suite has 4 servers: site server, two for WSUS and secondary DPs, and SQL. This problem is true for the built in reports and my custom reports. Our SQL guy has
    been helping me a lot but we've gotten nowhere. I can run a report. I can open one in edit mode after it prompts me for credentials. It loads Report Builder 3.0. But when I go to a dataset/query, enter credentials, and try to open it, I get a popup that
    says "Unable to connect to data source. 'AutoGen_5C6358F2_yayak..." When I click on details it says "The target principal name is incorrect. A connection was succesfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login
    process.  (SSL Provider, error: 0 -The target principal name is incorrect.)" In SQL Reporting Services Config Manager the paths for Web Service URL is
    http://ip.ip.ip.ip:80/ReportServer_SC01 and for Report Manager URL:
    http://ip.ip.ip.ip:80/Reports_SC01. A domain account is used to login. This happens when you r-click a dataset and select query to edit the code of a dataset, ie, when query designer tries to open up. It happens
    in both Admin Console and when using the Report Manager URL within SQL SSRS. All other functions of using edit mode of a report work fine.
    Ben JohnsonWY

    When I do that, browse is dimmed out.
    But, if I deselect "create a data set" and click "choose an existing dataset in this report..." there is no data connection at the end.
    But if I don't use report builder and instead use IE to browse to my ConfigMgr_ABC, I do see the connection at the end: {123...}.
    This problem is on a network that is not on the 'net, so it's hard to do screen shots, so I'll reproduce this problem step by step:
    I pick a report to edit, it doesn't matter which one.
    If I try it in Admin Console, I right-click, Edit the report, it asks me for a login, I login, then I get a popup that says "Cannot continue. The application is improperly formatted. Contact the vendor for assistance. I click the Details button and
    get a long set of text but the key part is "Your web browser settings do not allow you to run signed applications." This msg didn't appear before, so something changed, so I will investigate. I think it used to give a SPN error.
    If I use IE within report builder and navigate to whatever report, click open, everything works, except, when I click on Dataset0 (the key one I normally need to edit), click query, it prompts me for a login and no matter which one I use, i get a popup that
    says "unable to connect to data source 'AutoGen_123...'". If I click details I get "the targe principal name is incorrect. A connection was successfully established with the server, but then an error occurred during the login process. (provider:
    SSL Provider 0-The target principal name is incorrect.)

  • What are the Query criterion property attributes to search for KB's in SCCM 2012

    A client is ask what servers might have a particular hotfix(ex: KB2798040) installed. The Hotifx is not in our WSUS catalog because it is not a critical security patch so it is not downloaded. What is the SCCM 2012 R2 Query criterion property attributes
    to find a particular KB?

    Depending on the OS of the client, that information may not be collected by default.
    Rather than collecting all of the HotfixID class, instead, consider using DCM for this single HotfixID.
    Sherry has previously posted about ways to do this,
    http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/skissinger/archive/2011/08/17/non-security-hotfix-detection-for-windows-7-2008.aspx
    and here's a post by Nick which seems to be based on the very same approach:
    http://t3chn1ck.wordpress.com/2010/10/20/sccm-dcm-inventory-for-installed-windows-hotfixes/
