SCCM Client Application Installation WMI Classes and Cycles

Hi,
I am writing some software to monitor application deployements via SCCM - specifcally required applications. The applications installing OK however
it takes a bit of time for the SCCM console to realize the application has been installed after the client has actually done it.
So here are my questions:
1. What client cycle actually sends the status message back to the SCCM database saying "I have installed this application" - I am guessing the
"Application Deployment EValuation Cycle"?
2. Which WMI class can I look at that can tell me "when" the SCCM client installed the application?
Thanks,
Ward

To add to Torsten's answer here, there is no client cycle/action for this as it's automatic (see Torsten's answer). The App Deploy Eval cycle is for re-evaluating global conditions and application requirements on an on-going basis to ensure they are still
enforced and has nothing to do with reporting back to the site.
For part 2, CCM_Application should also get you what you are looking for on the client side but that's pretty inefficient for anything thing more than one-of deployments in small environments. Why not use reporting?

I went just downloaded ADOBE AIR and when I try to use it to install one of my Apps I get the message, "Abobe AIR Application Installer" is damaged and can't be opened.
    Can someone please address this.
    Thank you,

    Hi,
Exactly some of our customers are experiencing with "Adobe AIR application Installer damaged" issues.
    Can someone help us here?

  • SCCM Client Push Installation Wizard does not install the client. CCMSetup folder - not created

    Hello,
I have tried running the Client Push wizard for a single computer or a pilot collection of 8 computers, the result is always
the same - no SCCM client is installed on any computer.
The computers are running 32-bit Windows XP SP2.
    The Windows firewall is disabled.
The client push installation account is setup and have domain admin and local admin privileges. Client Push automatic method
    is not enabled.
The domain is AD WIndows 2000.
The SCCM server is running Windows 2003 R2 SP2 64bit Standard.
The AD schema has been extended.
MP, and SLP are installed and published. (MP is published in DNS as well.)
    FSP is installed.
MP, SLP and FSP are running on the same server.
SQL 2005 server is running locally.
System management container is created and all rights and permissions delegated.
With the Push installation account I can access C$ share on the client computer from the SCCM server.
RPC, Remote registry, WMI services are running on the client machines.
All prerequisites are installed from the client folder on SCCM server- latest BITS 2.5, Windows installer 3.1 and MSXML6.
All computers are in the same IP subnet which is listed in the boundaries.
Yet, the client is not being installed.
No CCMSetup folder is created on the client machines in Windows\System32 folder, so it is really difficult to troubleshoot
what the is the issue. I do not see anything helpful in the ccm.log on the server.
I have tried running the CCMSetup.exe manually on one of the workstations and that was successful and reported back to the
    SCCM server / console.
What else I should check / try? I really want to push agents via the wizard.
    Thank you,
    Peter

    Hi Wally,
    I have changed 2 things:
    1. Enabed automatic push installation (so I am not usign the wizard any more)
    2. Changed the IP subnet to IP ranges in the site boundairies.
After runnignt the discovery, I was able to see some activities in the ccm.log. A ccmsetup folder is now created but the agent is still not instaleld. Here is the ccmsetup.log

  • Sccm client push installation problem

in my company 22000 users and install sccm 2012(1 primary site in main dc  and 4 site system server in branch  )
i enable automatic site-wide client push installation . only sccm client installed in 11000 computers during 7 month and  increment installation it very slowly 2-10 per month
how i install  svvm client in another computers automaticly
    please help me

Yes. You can also manually create boundaries. Each client must fall under a boundary (eg IP Subnet, IP Range, AD site). You need to check that all are covered. Boundaries have to be added to boundary groups which are configured for site assignment.

  • SCCM Client Push installation comms/ports

    Hi all,
I've done a bit of reading of articles/resources and I'm not quite clear on communication requirements. I read that ICMP ping is required in addition to various TCP ports for client push installation. Our setup is a hub and spoke design with firewalls which
we don't administer between premises (convenient how 'site' is a key word in SCCM grrr) :)
I thought we would be able to have Distribution Points/Management Points on remote premises and have the clients on those premises do all necessary communication with the local server in their same subnet in order to deploy the SCCM client and report status.
Do I require ping etc through to the main server before it will use the local Distribution Point to deploy and report via the local Management Point?
We have a few clients manually installed at a couple of remote premises which are reporting but can't push the client and we have many clients at our central premises which have had client push installation and reported back successfully - presumably because
they are in the same subnet with no firewalls between.
I also have a couple of manually installed clients at remote premises which are not reporting client activity but I'll look into that further once the main client push feature is working.
Thanks for any clarification, I'm building my SCCM knowledge!
    R

    Hi Gerry,
Thanks for your response and the resources on your blog.
I have looked at the link but I'm still not clear on instances (if any) where direct communication is required between the client and the primary site server.
Should clients be expected to be able to communicate only with their local distribution point/management point which is in the same subnet if they are firewalled from the primary site server as I have? How does SCCM know to have a remote distribution point
do the communication to a client that is local to it without knowing the IP address? My servers have exceptions setup between them but the clients are fairly restricted to their own premises.
My boundaries are configured per AD Site but unless SCCM checks DNS for IP address would it be able to determine the AD Site to have the nearest DP/MP handle all the client interaction?
My query about ICMP was based on this link https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg682180.aspx which says:
"In addition to the ports listed in the following table, client push installation also uses Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) echo request messages from the site server to the client computer to confirm whether the client computer is available on
    the network."
Edit: I see Jason has partly answered my question above - I spent too long typing this post :)
    Thanks

  • SCCM 2012 application run Powershell script and return codes

    Hi,
I created an new application (imported as MSI) in SCCM 2012R2. After import I changed the deployment type installation program to run a Powershell script: powershell.exe -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -File "Install FactSet 2013 5I.ps1
My goal is to close some processes before installing the MSI. This works. But on a failure the application program also return code 0 (AppEnforce.log). Is it possible to pass the MSI return codes to SCCM.
Maybe anyone had the same or idea's to solve this? Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Peter
    Powershell script code:
    $ExitCode=0
    Function
    Stop-RunningApplication{
    Param(
    [parameter(Mandatory
    =$true)]
    [string]$ProcessName#
Specify process names separated by commas
    # Split multiple processes on a comma and join with the regex operator '|' to perform "or" match against
    multiple applications
    $processName=$processName-split(",")
    -join("|")
    $process=Get-Process|Where{
    $_.ProcessName
    -match$processName}
    |Stop-Process-Force
    #Stop running processes
    Stop-RunningApplication
    -ProcessName"excel,outlook,fdsw32,marquee,POWERPNT,WINWORD"
    #Install FactSet 2013 5I
    $ExitCode
    =(Start-Process".\FactSet_Setup_2013_5I_x644.msi"'/qn
    FACTSET_CLOSE_PROCESSES=1 /l*v C:\Temp\InstFac20135I.log'-Wait-Passthru).ExitCode
    Environment]::Exit($ExitCode)
    Peter vd Bosch

It's really hard to tell from the code above because of the way it's listed, but are sure that even executes? I see at least one stray curly brace and a stray square bracket.
For the Start-Process cmdlet, have you tried without the -passthru parameter?
Also, using the actual parameters will make the code much more readable instead of relying on position.

  • Why the SCCM client always corrupts the WMI repository?

    Hi All,
    I have a Configuration Manager 2012 R2 CU2 installation with hundred of client/servers.
From the initial deploy of the SCCM client, we seen that many machines had a Windows slow logon process.
We searched online for a fix and many people had this problem, suggesting to enable a registry key called
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CCM\Ccmeval\NotifyOnly.
From that date, we fixed the slow logon process problem, but still have problems with operating system's updates installed with SCCM.
In the most cases, when SCCM install updates, it corrupt the WMI database and at the OS reboot, the updates are rolled back.
On the same machines, if we install updates from Windows Updates, we have no problems.
Also, with SCCM installation, we see a lot of "DCOM" or "PerfLib" errors.
Usually, the remote management of a client with SCCM doesn't works because the WMI repository is corrupted, so each time we need to do uninstall the SCCM client and do this:
    1. Disable and stop the WMI service.
         sc config winmgmt start= disabled
         net stop winmgmt
    2. Run the following commands.
Winmgmt /salvagerepository %windir%\System32\wbem      (I noticed that you have run this command, but I would suggest that you try it again)
         Winmgmt /resetrepository %windir%\System32\wbem
    4. Re-enable the WMI service and then reboot the server to see how it goes.
         sc config winmgmt start= auto
    This is very frustrating.
Why the SCCM client create all these problems and how to fix this?
    Thanks for your support.

I think that my case is not isolate.
There are a lot of posts like this:
    http://www.windows-noob.com/forums/index.php?/topic/8989-wmi-corruption-sccm-2012-win7-sp1/
    http://trevorsullivan.net/2012/11/21/configmgr-2012-ccmeval-exe-causing-client-corruption/
The strange thing is that the WMI corruptions only happens on machine where the SCCM client is installed, even if the machines is without any additional software (fresh windows installation).
In the same time, I need to fix a ProfSvc bug (KB2617858) because the PC become unusable.
Also, why it starts a WMI rebuild if I deploy the client with the "NotifyOnly" option (the registry key is fine)?
So, basically, on a fresh windows machine, as it joins to the domain:
    1) the SCCM client install itselfs
    2) it starts to install several windows updates
    3) at the first restart, it try to rebuild the WMI and the ProfSvc bug appears
May be that the problem is not the SCCM client itself, but a windows update deployed via SCCM client?

  • Is WMI required SCCM client 2007 agent for working

    A Quick Qustion
Is WMI required SCCM client agent for working
what is the neccesity for WMI on SCCM client agent 2007
How SCCM CLient affect if WMI corrupt
    could any one explaine
Its not only a question I am facing sccm client agent corrupted
    shinu

Yes, functional WMI is a requirement for the SCCM client to work. One sign of WMI being corrupt is that the client won't receive any policies from the MP.

  • SCCM Client Push Installtion

Hello I am trying to test SCCM client push installation. I used active directory system group discovery as discovery method. All clients(windows 2008 r2) that were on the same subnet reported fine on collection and installed client through client push
installation. However two clients that are on two different subnets are not reporting nor clients are install through push installation. I have boundaries setup correctly for these two non reporting client. I have all components of SCCM running on same server.
What firewall ports are needed for active directory system group discovery and client push installation. Between SCCM and SCCM Client ?ad

In order to successfully use client push to install the Configuration Manager client, you must add the following as exceptions to the Windows Firewall:
    File and Printer Sharing
    Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)
    TCP Port 135
    TCP Port 445

We plan to develop application for different platforms with Adobe Air and testing installing Air applications with bundled runtime installer on different platforms. It's ok with Windows and Mac OS, but we got troubles with "silent" installation on Ubuntu OS 9.10.
I tried to install Adobe Air application with bundled runtime, like in this document in part "Silent installation":
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/redist/WS485a42d56cd19641-70d979a8124ef20a34b-8000.html
    using command-line:
    "sudo ./MyInstaller -silent simple-air-air-application-1.0-SNAPSHOT.air"
and installation fails. Installation log looks like this:
[setup:2306][INFO] Runtime Installer begin with version 2.6.0.19140 on Linux x86
    [setup:2306][INFO] Commandline is: -silent simple-air-air-1.0-SNAPSHOT.air
    [setup:2306][INFO] No installed runtime detected
[setup:2306][INFO] Invoking Application Installer for combined install
[setup:2306][INFO] Launching subprocess with commandline /tmp/air.QMrLZl/build/opt/Adobe AIR/Versions/1.0/Adobe AIR Application Installer -runtime /tmp/air.QMrLZl/build/opt -silent -withRuntime -url file:///tmp/air.QMrLZl/simple-air-air-1.0-SNAPSHOT.air
[setup:2306][ERR] Subprocess app installer failed (-1)
[setup:2306][ERR] Runtime Installer end with exit code 7
P.S. We tried do the same on Linux Mint 10. Everything's fine, application getting installed well.

Thanks for the reply and solution MrSykes.
I uninstalled adobe AIR and ran a file and registry cleaner to delete any left over files and installs.
Then installed the v.15 Adobe AIR beta as recommended.
The cleaners I used (ccleaner & jv16 power tools) did find some temporary install files and remnants of the Video Alchemy install.
Tried the install again and still no installation window displays.
I'm running Windows 7 on my PC and even changed the installation file compatibility to Windows XP service pack 2 to no avail.
Funny that it installed fine on my notebook with Adobe AIR latest version running Windows 7.
I'm watching task manager as I'm attempting the install and videoalchemy.exe has some cpu usage then drops to zero activity.
Then Adobe AIR application Installer starts up then cycles to zero cpu activity.
I'm stumped on this one :-(
Thanks again for investing the time on my behalf.
    Regards
    Stephen

  • Adobe AIR Application Installation will not start

I purchased a program called Video Alchemy which requires Adobe AIR to run but the installation window will not display and the installation does not start.
The Adobe AIR log install log file can be found here https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/59423416/Install.log
Here is a link to the VideoAlchemy.exe install file https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/59423416/VideoAlchemy.exe
Can anyone help me to get this program to install?

Thanks for the reply and solution MrSykes.

    Hi All,
i have deleted obsolete machine from SMS collection
‎‎after that i reinstalled the SMS client and readded the same machine
‎‎still that machine is showing client status is NO
Please help me what to do

Please try this. It worked for me.
Rebuild the repository and WMI services on client
Stop the WMI services and rename the existing repository as
'repositoryold' and restart the services. Initiate all actions once rebuilding respository is completed.
    OR
Reset the GUID on client system using Client Action
    Tool (CAT)
Add all the client hostnames in CAT
Go to > Client Agent Action
Run > Generate New SCCM GUID.
Wait for actions and initiate all the actions twice. Update the collection members
few time in console then check the client status. It Works!
