Schedule On-Demand Subreport

Is it possible to schedule a report that contains an on-demand subreport so that all of the data is available to viewers?
Currently, the main report can be viewed but if the user clicks on the subreport link, the database query is ran before displaying the subreport data. Which is the way it should work when running the report normally. However, for scheduled reports, I would like everything run once and saved to the instance and still not display the subreport unless the user selects the link but without having to hit the database again.

Which version of BOE are you using? There is a registry key that you need to add. Below is the registry key for BOE XIR2 that will run the On-Demand subreports when scheduled and save them with data:

Is it possible to open 2 on-demand subreports using 1 link?

I have a main report Customer Orders, with 3 on-demand subreports - PO Detail, Invoice Detail, Shipment Detail.
Is it possible to build a command or a link to open all 3 subreports with one click, rather than clicking to open each subreport tab separately?

Not that I know of... Change them from on demand to not on demand so the data is there to view. They still have to click the Subreport link but no waiting.
Possibly putting the subreports in the group header will make them run and show the data but that is very taxing on the DB server, the subreport runs each time a group is created on the page.
You may want to rethink your report, if you can get the data into the main report, seems the info should be there anyways, and put those details in the detail section and/or group on each PO Detail, Invoice Detail, Shipment Detail.

Crystal Reports Server XI On-demand Subreport does not open

Hi,
I'm using Crystal Reports XI and have a report with two on-demand subreports. In Crystal Designer, both work fine - that is when I click on either on-demand subreport in preview, it opens in another tab.
But in Crystal Reports Server, one subreport works but the other one just opens another tab with the main report. What could be the problem?

I solved it - Both subreports have no name but the one that wasn't working apparently needed a name so I just typed "." (a period) and now it works.

Multiple "GetResultSet" prompts when on-demand subreport added

A very strange thing started to occur with one of 4 reports I designed against a Java Bean. When I add an on-demand subreport at the detail level, and the subreport is either a copy of the main report, or designed specifically for the subreport, I get multiple getresultset parameter prompts. Sometimes once before the preview will show, sometimes more. Sometimes when I drilldown to Group 2 or detail. And again when I click the on-demand subreport.There are 5 parameters. In the other three that work correctly, the getresultset parameter "doubles up" the identical prompts, rather than appending 5 more.I have recreated the report twice from scratch. Nothing seems to make a difference. It isn't even complex.Any thoughts?Thanks,Angela

I settled on a work-around.
One of my first thoughts when the wrap-around didn't work was to split the heading into 2 lines, the top one being the subreport and the bottom one being a text box formatted to match the subreport. I discounted it quickly because it was cheap and ugly. After thinking about it, I extended the subreport down over the text box and moved the text box To Back. Now the entire column heading looks like a single control. It's still cheap, but it looks and behaves properly.

On Demand subreport in a new window

Hi I am wondering if it is possible to open an on demand sub report in a new window.
I have a report that has 6 level drill and I want to be able to close the information in the sub report to give the end user the ability to keep drilling.
I have tried inserting a text box with a hyper link back to the main report but hyper links do not seem to work the subreport.

there is an option to make it as a hyperlink when you are creating a sub report (via wizard).
Have you marked the check box to show it as a hyper link?
There is also an option to link the two report fields together, have you linked the two fields?
I would suggest to use a wizard and try it.

Min Max Planning not reading Flow Schedules as Demand

We use min max planning to order all recurring purchases and flow schedules for production planning.
Min max planning report does NOT see flow schedules as a source of demand. Is this correct or are we missing a setup somewhere?
If min max planning cannot read flow schedules, is there a standard report to identify component shortages where items are between min max level but not enough on hand to fulfill the open flow schedule?

On demand subreport conditionally different formats of reports to be displayed

Hi I have a requirement where i will be displaying the main report. When i click on one field whose values are "USA" or "UK". If i click on USA then i shld get a different report with different format for eg: usa1.rpt and if i click on UK values then i shld get UK1.rpt report. so total there are three reports. I am working on with. Please help me in doing such critical report.

ideally you would make one subreport which has sections for UK, US etc..(probably reportheaderA and reportHeaderB - add in as necessary) and those sections would be conditionally suppressed based on the value in the main report (link a subreport parameter to the field value).
Another option:
step 1.Â add another details section. DetailsA if for UK, details B is for USA.Â AddÂ your fields into both sections.Â Add the relevant subreport to each section.
step2. conditionally suppress the UK section if the country = "USA" and vice versa.

Problem with scheduling reports

Hi,
We produce reports in Crystal XI R2 and then publish to Enterprise. We have noticed a recurring and 'random' error with certain reports
The reports run fine in Crystal and in Infoview when run on demand. However when we chose the schedule option, the report goes through the motions of running ie status = running for a suitable period of time and goes to Sucess. However when we try to open the report the 'blue bar' will go about 50% and then freeze without opening. After that Infoview hanges and we need to restart. This always happens with certain reports but other similar reports schedule fine.
Any ideas?

That is the problem Clive. I've had similar experiences that had me baffled. Whenever you attempt to open the successfully scheduled report, the subreport is run. Therefore you will have to wait for the subreports to complete before the report opens. Sometimes this took hours, leaving me to think that it froze. But it usually eventually comes up. With each page you go through, the subreport is run again and again. This is very annoying.
I would try modifying the type of subreports I use. Try the report with "On Demand" subreport and "In Place" subreport. See which one gives you better performance. I usually only use subreports for 1 page summary reports. Other than that they take too long. I've had reports that I've redone because the subreport version takes too long.
It is much easier to run these reports on demand.

Can you view Subreports in Crystal Viewer 2008

I've created a report in Crystal Reports XI that also included two subreports.
When I open it up in Crystal Viewer 2008 I'm not sure how to view the subreports.
Any ideas?

In Crystal Viewer you cannot refresh the report. You can refresh only when you are opening the report from server. So if your report consist of any on demand subreports it refreshes only when you click on the link. So I thikn on-demand subreport do not work in crystal viewer.

hi,first time here, but ive been playing with crystal reports for a bithere is my situartion:i have an main report where i display deliveries for example:
name customer date1 delivery1..... goto subreport date2 delivery1.... goto subreport ....
problem is that my deliveries are in an different database then the info in the subreport, i know how to connect them, but i need to set the position of the database of the subreport when the user clicks on the "goto subreport" ( this is on demand subreport + linkt to the customers name)is there an on click or on open event for this? so i can set the possition in my form where the crystalreport view is displayedthe database in the main is one that i make every month for example delivery 11-07.mdb, in the subreport i have info of the delivery : info 11-07-07.mdb when the user clicks on the subreport i need to open the db of the day he selected.
any help would be greatfull thx in advance

That can be a problem with the Ask.com toolbar (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions)
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

MRS Auto Scheduling Network Order

Has any one in the forum implemented or know how to achieve Automatic Scheduling of Demand (Network Order/ Network Activity ) created through PS (Project Systems) in the MRS tool. ? Using Service Orders, this is a configurable item, with a BAdI for changes if necessary. But this does not apply to Network Orders. I am considering various options, but would like to know if this could be done without modifying an SAP standard program. Options tried out include calling FM ; /MRSS/API_ASSIGNMENT_CRE, this however fails to assign the demand in the planning board, although it would assign demand in debug mode. I have equally tried Recoding and creating a BDC, but the Resource fields are not captured in the recording. Any hint would serve.

Have you tried automatic scheduling on the network itself? In PS you can configure the network to auto schedule if the dates are changed. You may find that making changes to the dates in the network from MRS causes the network to reschedule itself.

Link subreport to the main report in Crystal

Hi expert,
I have a Crystal Report with a row that cointais a Total Field.
Is possible to add a hypertext link, that open a subreport with all the details?
Exaple: CardCode: C00001 Account Balance: 14120,50. If i click on the Total of account balance, i open a subreport (linked with the key). Is the same of drill down (perhaps), but I can't use drill down.
Anybody can help me??

Marco,
try the following:
make the report into the structure of:
Group: CardCode
In the group header delete your group name field, and add your subreport.
Right click on the subreport, and on format subreport.
On the subreport tab, there is an option: on demand subreport. Check that in.
After that you can define a formula ( for example your cardcode ) at On-demand Supreport Caption.

How to export subreports along with main reports in crystal reports 2008

I am having serious issues in Crystal Reports 2008. While I was trying to export one of my reports(having 3 subreports) in to a pdf file,well only the main report data is getting exported.
My subreports are ON DEMAND SUBREPORTS.
Kindly help me in resolving this issue.

Using SubReport to show Details of field grouped in Main Report

I am creating a Crystal Report from BEx Query . In Report i have Created a group on Cost center field.
& some other fields are in detail section. Suppose if i execute report then groups are A, B, C, D ......
Now further requirement is when i click on one group for example 'A' then i should get detail of that group in
different subreport.
Is it possible?

Hi Ajay,
Follow this Steps,
1,Create a Group with 'Cost center'.
2,Delete the 'group name'(A,B,C...) form 'group header'. Now you will get a group with no headings.. which means GH #1 section should be blank for now.
3, Insert the OnDemand subreport in to the Group header.(The same place which we have Group header name before)
4,Set "Subreport link as "Cost center". (Right click on subreport>Change subreport links>double click on 'Cost center' in report feilds-->OK)
5,Now the important thing, Change the "On-Demand Subreport Caption " as group name.
(Right click on subreport>Format subreport>Subreport Tab>Click in 'X-2' button of "On-Demand Subreport Caption ">Formula editor will popup, then right like
GroupName ({Cost center}) // Or double click on the Group #1 Name in the Report Fields tree in Field tree-->Save And Close)
6, Change the font,Font Color an d uncheck the underline.
This will work for you,
