Screen capture functions don't work with 10.4.6

After update to 10.4.6, Cmd-Shft-4 and Cmd-Shft-3 are idnored. are they supposed to work?

Try removing this file if you have it:
"/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.screencapture.plist"
I have one because I changed the location of the screenshots from the Desktop to a folder. The other place the location is saved is in Grab's plist file:
"/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Grab.plist"
It could be that the shots are being taken, but put in the wrong place.

PS--I just put up an interactive AppleScript that Mark Douma wrote some time back that uses the system level function that the keyboard shortcuts are supposed to call. It is here:

Unzip, double click the script icon, then choose what format you want, click and drag the crosshairs and see if a capture appears on your Desktop.

C Library time functions don't work with WinCE 6.0

in an WinCE 5 project I have used some time funtions (asctime(), time(), ...) from the C standard library. The functions are defined in the time.h file. Now I try to port the project to WinCE 6, but I don't have success with it, because the "time" functions
aren't declared in the new WinCE 6.0 SDK time.h header file.
Why are the time function declarations removed from the time.h file in WinCE 6?
How do I get the time functions working in WinCE 6.0?

You can capture the tick count (GetTickCount) at the "start" and each time through the "loop" and compare determining how much time has elapsed, I guess.
I usually end up writing this sort of code in a separate thread. The thread and use WaitForMultipleObjects( , FALSE, timeout) to wait for either an exit event from the main thread (always good to have a STOP signal), or an event indicating "message
received" (in response you will call WaitForMultipleObjects again, restarting the timer, after processing the message or whatever), or a timeout to expire indicating you need to take timeout actions.

The problem is, if the input_string contains german umlaute or special french characters, the error message ORA-28232 "Invalid input size for Obfuscation toolkit" appears.

Resolving issues with Touch ID
Make sure that you're using the latest version of iOS.
Make sure that your fingers and the Home button are clean and dry.*
Note: Cover the Home button completely. Don't tap too quickly, don't press down hard, and don't move your finger while Touch ID is scanning. Make sure that your finger touches the metal ring around the Home button.
If you're using a protective case or screen protector, it must leave the Home button and the surrounding ring completely unobscured. If it doesn't, remove the case or screen protector and try again.
Tap Settings > Touch ID & Passcode and verify that:
iPhone Unlock or iTunes & App Store is on.
You enrolled one or more fingerprints.
Try enrolling a different finger.
If you can't enroll any of your fingers, take your iPhone 5s to an Apple Retail Store, Apple Authorized Service Provider, or contact AppleCare for further assistance.

Search and index functions don't work with merged projects

Until this morning, the search and index functions in my RoboHelp project worked okay; I have one Main project into which I have merged more than three dozen sub-projects. About an hour ago, I created a new sub-project and merged it into the Main project; now, it's as if the topics in my merged projects don't exist.
Any suggestions?

So when you open the merge you see all the content, it is just the search and index not working. This must be merged CHMs as you are talking about a Favourites tab so maybe your other comment is relevant. My understanding of merged CHMs is that you do not want spaces in file names, that could be the problem.

Screensaver & screen brightness functions don't work

MacBook is about 6 months old. With screen brightness, the scale goes up and down but the brightness doesn't change until I scale all the way down; then it goes dark. When I hit the space bar to turn the screen on, the scale goes up but the screen comes on at full brightness.
With the screensaver, the system ignores my settings under Preferences and just goes dark at the set time without the screensaver coming on.

The Genius Bar determined that it's a faulty "inverter" and is replacing it.

Im having this same problem an my phone is about 3 weeks old. I am not sure about the voice over part though...I have not yet figured out how to work the voice recognition part of the phone...I am such a newbie with this phone. I did the power off/on suggestion, several times. I tried leaving it off for 10 minutes. Tried to reset with the power on/off and home button pressed at the same time. Charged battery. Still makes no difference. You cannot scroll any direction. Have to double click to open apps. Have to double click letters when texting or emailing in order to get the letter in the text box. Can scroll through app choices, have to click on the line with the dots in it and move from page to page. Can't access the settings - > general - > accessibility - because it won't allow me to scroll down to "general".
Anyone help you with your fix yet?

When i used Windows Vista - i have any problem.
Now i install Windows 7 and so: if notebook was restart or shut down - on login screen of windows don't work biometric.
Only enter password from keyboard. If hibernate or sleep - all ok, biometric work normally.
I was try Windows 7 32bit and 64bit.
Same problems.

The fingerprints will not be deleted by uninstalling the software.
The fingerprints are stored in fingerprint sensor flash.
You have to delete the fingerprints using the fingerprint software.
If this is not possible, then you will need to contact the Toshiba ASP technician for this job!

Pause, back, and fwd (F6-8) keys don't work with iTunes. [Windows 7 64-bit]

All my other F# keys work (I can adjust the screen brightness, adjust the volume...etc) but my Pause (F8), Back (F7) and Fwd (F9) keys don't work with iTunes. Though they DO work with Windows Media Player.
How can I get them to work with iTunes?

What is better Mac Mini or Mac Pro and 4K 40" screen or iMac 5K for work with Exel

I am working on Macbook pro retina for around 16 hours a day, it is ok but the screen is to small. I am opening about 25 - 30 EXCEL windows, 20 - 25 safari windows at the same time. Excel windows are small, they only show 40 rows and S column Now I am considering buying iMac 5k ( but the screen is only 27", however a very high resolution but I think that fonts and digits displayed may be too small ). I am also considering Mac Mini or Pro with 40" 4K TV ( 4k computer monitors are 27 - 31" , so better idea would be purchasing iMac 5k ) . The problem is that 40 - 42" TV don't have Display Port ( I can't find it anywhere )
Please help me to choose what would suit my needs better. I need large screen to work comfortably with an Excel sheets. What is better? Mac Mini or Mac Pro and 4K 40" screen or iMac 5K for work with Excel ?. The other problem I have is that when I spend 16 hours at work with retina macbook , my eyes are ok. Using the 30'' Dell screen 2560/1440 my eyes are tired after 2 hours.

Currently you can only get 4 K at 30 Hz via HDMI. Some users have reported jerky curser movement because of the 30 Hz.
I would go for the 5K iMac. You can add a second screen at 4K.

Asynchronuous functions don't work in a C# dll used by a CVI application

I have an existing application written with CVI 9.0.1, which have to interact with a C# 2010 dll (which doesn't have any window) via a CVI<->.net wrapper (created using the usefull .net controller of CVI).
This C# dll uses asynchronuous functions, like NetworkStream.BeginRead() and EndRead() functions of a System.Net.Sockets.TcpClient object for example.
These asynchronuous functions work fine when the C# dll is used by a C# application (having a main window) or when the C# dll is converted in a standalone C# program (having a main window with buttons, to call its methods, just to try), but asynchronuous functions don't work when my C# dll is called by my CVI application (which is my goal): execution stays inside NetworkStream.BeginRead() for example (for the concerned thread).
NetworkStream.BeginRead() can be successfully bypassed by using the synchronuous function NetworkStream.Read() instead, but the C# dll uses others asynchronuous functions wich have no associated synchronuous functions.
Here is a portion of C# code (I don't have the source code for the Snmp object ; got_trap() method is never called when asynchonuous calls don't work):

IOS6 Headset / Headphone "Skip to the next chapter" & "Return to the previous chapter" functions don't work in the Music App

"Skip to the next chapter" & "Return to the previous chapter" functions don't work in the iOS 6 Music App when listening to Podcasts and Audiobooks through Headsets (Apple & 3rd party), Speaker Docks, and in my autos handsfree bluetooth system (Ford Sync).
Listening with the Podcasts App allows "Skip" and "Return" to work. So, this is either a bug or Apple is forcing the use of the Podcast App to get the "Skip" & "Return" controls. All the other headset functions work as designed.
I listen to news Podcasts in chronological order. In iTunes I set up smart playlists sorted by release date for the podcasts. The Podcast App doesn't support playlists therefore I need to use the Music App.
Is anyone able to get "Skip" and "Return" to work in the Music app?

InDesign copy, cut or move box functions don't work

I am having trouble with the copy, cut and move box commands. When a text or shape box is active, I cannot move it with the cursor. It will move if I use the arrow keys, but the box behaves like it were "locked." I deleted my preferences, but that makes no difference. This problem persists whether I am in an existing ID document, or if I start a new one.
The copy and cut functions don't work either.

Of course replacing your prefs is a possibility, and has nothing to do with the need to force quit (but will probably cure it). Replacing prefs is done with the application closed, either using the keyboard combination as you relaunch, or by deleting or renaming the specified files, both ow hich are desribed inthe link in the previous post.
You posted that you had already deleted the prefs, I believe, but many users are not aware they can use the keyboard or that there are two files involved for ID and are not successful, and thus think repacing the the prefs is not going to solve the problem. Hence my previous question. Did you use one of the methods in the link?

Sure though, some things out there don't work on panther. Like free songs from Amazon require a special downloader compatible with 10.4.x and higher.
If you want to listen to full songs for free, there's sites out there that let you type in what you want to listen to and you can stream it in from your browser.
Some sites like nintendo and probably others require Firefox. So, yes. Time is ticking against panther.
I'm in the serious consideration stage of upgrading to Tiger or Leopard. For some
things on the Web we need to stay current. Honestly, now a days everyone who uses
a computer needs to.
But, Panther is a very fun and snappy OS for me. I'll miss it's simplicity and humbleness. It's been totally awesome for my family and me! It's had it's shortcomings, but I look forward to a bright future in upgrading.

Klipsch Image ONE headphones don't work with OS6?...

Does anyone know why my Klipsch Image ONE headphones now don't work with OS6? More specifically, the "Mute" and "Next Track Advance" function of the center button used to work with the prior OS, but since 'upgrading' to OS6 I lost the functionality...

it's likely a hardware issue most people experience that the detector which indicate if there is a headset plugged in are activated all the time making their phone silent but your issue is likely the opposite
the cure if it exist would likely be the same as the stuck in headset mode
iPhone stuck in "headphones" mode
worst case would be repair
