Screen lock code

i would like to enter a code so i can lock my ipod nano. the "change combination" screen says "enter old code". i never entered a code so i don't know what to enter, i have tried 0000 and 1111. is there a factory default code?
i know i can reinstall all the software and music but was looking for a simpler method.

If the iPod nano is unlocked and you want to erase
the old stored code, resetting the iPod should erase
it.

turn phone off
hold home button and plug cable into phone. do not release home button until an itunes graphic appears on device.
look to computer should have message about recovery mode click ok and restore

Is the iPad charged? Plug it in with the charger/wall outlet for half an hour and try again to reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears.

Changing Screen Lock Code

Having bought a used 5th Gen iPod from a store I discover that it already has a screen lock code set. Neither myself nor the store know what the existing code is for me to enter and thereby change the code.
Is there a way around this? Does a full restore also restore the code to factory settings so I can start anew?

Thank you, I did a restore anyway to solve other problems, but as it is still reloading the iTunes library I have yet to discover what happened to that code.

Seriously Screwed All Bcus a Screen Lock Code

I changed my screen lock code and went to change it but realised i had forgotten it. Went down to the computer to find what to do and it said restore. Thats all fine and good so i updated my itunes like it said but now the USB port wont recognise my iPod for me to restore it..What do i do?

First of all, try another port on your computer. Some ports are not connected direct to the motherboard and do not recognize the iPod as well as those that are. Reset the iPod each time you connect it to another port.

I lost my Kin for a few days then found it, but I can't remember what the screen lock code is. I do not want tolose my data is there a way to reset it?

Try this, connect the iPod to the main computer you use it with (if you use it with more than one, this is the first one it was connected to) and open iTunes. Then disconnect iPod from the computer, it should be unlocked: iPod: How to use the Screen Lock
If you can't get it unlocked you'll need to restore it. Just be aware that restoring will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings, so if you have songs on your iPod that aren't on iTunes you will lose them if you have no back up. When slected off, did it prompt you for a password/pin to confirm? Try this:
1. Turn it off.
2. Close the card and dont do anything else.
3. Immediately shut down the phone, hold down power button for the option.
4. Turn it back on.
Does turning screen off and on promp password again still? If so, the next step will be to partial erase the device by going into device info and tap reset options.

Set a second screen lock code for parents

Can I set a second lock code to use on the lock screen to access my childs phone?

There isn't a way to do that. With the phones that have Touch ID you could add a second fingerprint which would allow access (except that a passcode is still required when restarting).

Forgotten Screen Lock Code

i forgot my ipad screen lock and tried several numbers but didnt get it, therefore ipad was disabled and tells me to connect to itunes. so i did connect to itunes thu laptop and laptop tells me cant connect til i unlock my screen???

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Hold Sleep/Wake button down and slide to turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTune (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTune and plug.
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTune has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTune.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
