Screen shot image name

When 10.6 was introduced, the screen shot - (CMD-SHIFT-3) changed from an image name that was numbered numerically to a screen shot name with the date and time.
This change is not very usefull.
Does anyone know if there is a way in 10.6.1 to change it back to the old way?

The issue is that when dealing with dozens of screen shots, it's nice to see the old Picture 1, Picture 2 etc so I know the exact order.
The new method doesn't help me when I need them in order and have to look at the time stamp to see when they were done.
However, if you put them in a separate folder, using something like TinkerTool to set up a new one instead of the Desktop, put the folder into list view, they'll be sorted by the timestamp if you select sort by name. That solves your issue. The problem I have is that the timestamp doesn't tell me what the shot is all about, that's why I rename them almost immediately.
BTW, when Apple changes something you can file a bug against the new behavior because the old one was lost. If they say "as designed," then refile as an enhancement request to get it back to the old or at least an option to restore it. That's why you can now set windows to list view as the global default.

  • Change date/time format in Screen Shot file name?

I capture Screen Shots all day long.  But when I go to look for the one I just took, it's not always at the bottom of the list.  That's because Mac names them as e.g.
Screen Shot 2014-04-29 at 1.19.04 PM.png (and the order gets screwed up).
Can I change to make save as e.g.
Screen Shot 2014-04-29 at 13.19.04.png (this way they'll always stay in order).
    Thanks for any help.

You may have to change system time format globally. Is it worth ?

  • Emailing screen shots (image resizing itself so its unreadable!)

i'm a big fan of screen shots. i've noticed that since i changed over to leopard if i want to email a screen shot using mac mail it resizes the image so it is completely unreadable. but if i open the screen shot in preview i can view the screen shot at the size i captured it at. any ideas how i can go in and attach it to an email and the email will view & send at actual size. I've tried various things such as going into preview and going to file->mail image. i've tried saving the file as a different type (gif, jpg). i've tried pulling the image into the email body, as well as going and clicking the paperclip to attach. all method result in the same cruddy quality image.

after you drag an image to the mail composition window, a small button called "Image size" should appear in the lower right corner of the window. Click on it and select "Actual size".

  • How do I make a screen shot/image

How do I make a copy of the current screen.

There are two ways of making screenshots in Mac OS X:
    Through the Grab app, or;
    Through keyboard shortcuts.
I recommend you to use keyboard shortcuts. You have the whole list of keyboard shortcuts to make screenshot in this site > http://support.apple.com/kb/ph11229

  • Screen shots of DVD movies ?

I like to keep still images of movies I have to a database of mine. With any software it's no

to do screen shots while DVD Player is active.
I bought the DVD movie not to mention the fact that its my computer and I'd like to do
whatever I want with it. I fail to comprehend how doing a screen shot (image at 72 dpi...) of

    Please enlighten me......
Is there any way of going around this ?
    Thanks

I fail to comprehend how doing a screen shot (image at 72 dpi...) of
a movie constitutes a major criminal act...
It's not major, and it will result more in civil action than criminal.
I cannot, based on the terms of use of this forum, tell you how someone using VLC or another movie-playing application could use Movie2Shot or some other kind of screen-grab software to commit these civil violations, so please don't ask me to.

I've been taking screen shots for years and opening them from my desktiop. Suddenly, today, I've lost the ability to open them. I can right click on the picture and do "quicklook", but that's it. They just won't open.
Similary, if I scan an image and save it as a PDF file in pictures, I'm suddenly not able to open it either!
    Why?

Move the com.apple.screencapture.plist file out of /username/Library/Preferences/ to the Desktop, log out and back in, and try again.
BTW, use the default 10 point setting for text. Your choice just wastes screen space.

  • Screen shot not saving images

All of a sudden when i take a screen shot i can hear the shot being taken but it is not saving the image? it used to save the image to my desktop but it has suddenly decided to stop. Does anyone know how i can fix this?

That .plist file should exist. Have another look. - Another suggestion, but not a cure, download Capture Me. It is free and works a treat!

  • When keying a green screen shot, the image being keyed goes a little out of focus when the effect is applied. How do you keep it sharp?

When keying a green screen shot, the primary image goes slightly out of focus when the effect is placed.  What am I doing wrong??

Make a letterbox in Photoshop -two black stripes and a hole in the middle, place it on a higher video track.

anyone had this before? or know how to change it back?
    Thanks

  • Name of screen shots suddenly changed

I upgraded to 10.6.0 via DVD and 10.6.3 via combo four days ago; all is well. Until today any screen shots were named
Picture 1.png and so on. Suddenly they are named Screen shot 2010-04-01 at 4.49.11 PM.png
    What is going on?

    Robert
For me since 10.6 I've had the behaviour you're only just seeing now. I've got a handful of macs here, 10.6.2 and 10.6.3 and every screen grab has the date and time stamp attached. For me it's normal and not a problem.
Perhaps - inadvertently/or you've forgotten - you've had a setting (somewhere) that changed this default behaviour to what you've been used to. Perhaps - deliberately - the 10.6.3 update has 'reset' the behaviour you've accepted as 'normal' to what it actually should be.
It's even possible the little man that lives inside every computer has decided on a whim to do this just to throw you loop? With it being Easter I would not rule out the Easter Bunny either.
    HTH?

  • Imported Screen Shots are Blurry

    Hello FCP users,
I am challenged and need some guidance. The projects that I create a little mini-movies/demos made up of mostly imported screen shots and some still photos -- never any video. My challenge is that I have a very clean screen shot to work with -- if I bring them up in Preview, Photoshop, etc. they look great. The second I import them into FCP they are blurry, degraded and next to unreadable. I seems like I've tried everything, but nothing seems to make a difference.
I am not the one taking the screen shots -- they are provided from a different source each time. Each person most likely uses a different product to grab those screen shots, but my guess is that they are probably using snag-it or a similar product. I usually ask them to provide the "best" quality they can. That can mean a ton of different sized screen shots come my way. The ones I'm working with now range in size -- 1,116x760, 1,284x1000, 1,026x813, 1,023x830 to name a few.
I have been on the boards and did try one recommendation that I saw to reduce the size of the image to the same frame size that you are working with (in my case 720x480). Of course, when I do this there is degradation before I even bring it into FCP.
So, I'm wondering, should I be asking people to create their screen shots at 720x480? I've been playing around in Parallels with Snag-it to see what options are available -- I don't see that they can choose to produce the screen shots at a certain size -- they can reduce them after they take it, but there's that degradation again. Maybe there is some recommended product that I can suggest? Everyone I work with to supply the screen shots would be a pc user.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I do these often, and my screen quality always looks poor. I'd like to come up with a solution and I'm sure a big part of that is instructing those who supply the screen shots to take them a certain way...perhaps with a certain product...only I don't know what that is.
    Best practices anyone?
    My settings are:
    Frame Size: 720x480
    Aspect Ratio: NTSC DV (3:2)
Pixel Aspect Ratio: NTSC - CCIR 601 / DV (720x480)
    Compressor: DV/DVCPRO - NTSC
    Thanks for your insights.
    Tawny

Pan & Scan: in this context, I was referring to the idea of panning across a screen shot instead of reducing it to the size of the video frame. In other words, the original is (e.g.) 2x the width or height and then, as you explain / narrate, it moves across the screen. This preserves the "local" resolution of the original, but doesn't give the viewer a single view of the whole screen. It can be used in conjunction with the "whole view" as a kind of CU shot.

  • How to attach screen shot in sdn

    Hi
how to attach screen shot in sdn
    how to attach attachments
in sdn i am  unable to see
screenshots could u give me  about that
    Regards
    sahithi

    hi,
first take one image and put under
    yourworkspace\yourProjectFolder\src\mimes\Components\com.sap.tc.webdynpro.projectname.ProjectName
    Example:
    i took an Image : sample.jpg
    My Application Name is: Certificatoin
    so put under,
    myworkspace\certification\src\mimes\Components\com.sap.tc.webdynpro.certification.Certification
Now you included your Image to Server Path, i.e during Deployment, image is automatically loaded into Server.
From Webdynpro Application, we have one UI Element called Image, In that we have one property called src i.e Source
give your Image name with file extension
    eg:
    src: sample.JPG or sample.jpg
extension is very Important, then only you can able to see your Image, also extension is case sensitive so you should take care of that.
In the place of Image you just consider your screen shot........
    reply your commands....... bye
