Script for saving images

How would one create a script that can be inserted in my contextual menu or on my browser toolbar allowing me to save something (usually an image) to a specific directory.
I want to eventually automate converting the image and resizing in one fail swoop but for now I do this via folder actions in said directory.

Are you looking to "one-click" to save an image displayed on a webpage to a pre-determined directory?

  • Creating a script for inserting images

    I am new to the scripting concept, so please forgive me when I use incorrect terminology.
    I would like to create a script that will automatically place images in my InCopy document. Basically I want to type the names of image files in an InCopy document then run a script that will replace the name of the file with the actual image (either as an embedded image or as an image in a graphics frame, although the graphics frame might not work if the document isn't linked to an InDesign document.)
    I'm assuming I'd have to identify the image name in some way (slashes or something before and after) and during the script I'd have to identify where to find the given images, such as which folder they are in.
    Is this possible in InCopy?
    Eventually, these InCopy documents will be used in InDesign. Would it be better/faster to use a script to import these images into InDesign instead of InCopy?
    (In case the information is important, the images are all either .tif files or .eps files.)
    Also, how do I find someone who can write this script for me? I'm assuming there are freelance programmer people out there... how do I find one?
    Thanks for any advice/help you can give me!

  • Script for replacing Image from a frame into InDesign document file

    Hi All,
    I am having an indesign document (indd) file with images and texts. I am using InDesign Server CS4 to run the scripts via SOAP.
    My requirement is to replace any of the images from the required frame/s of indesign document through scripting (I already have frame id of which image needs to be replaced). I have written written java-script file (as given below): but when I execute this java-script on InDesign Server via SOAP, I get follwoing error into InDesign Server:

    obj.images[0].remove;
    obj.appliedObjectStyle = null;
    var myImage=obj.place(File('//Server_IP_Address/Images_to_be_reolaced_Path/ImageFile.jpg'));
    var old_height = myImage.geometricBounds[2] - myImage.geometricBounds[0];
    var new_height = obj.geometricBounds[2] - obj.geometricBounds[0];
    var old_width = myImage.geometricBounds[3] - myImage.geometricBounds[1];

    app.jpegExportPreferences.jpegQuality["JPEGOptionsQuality.low"];
    app.documents.item(0).exportFile(ExportFormat.jpg, previewFile);

  • Newbie Question,preferences for saving images

    Brand new to PS, CS5, how do I change or set preferences so all images, pictures, masters and versions are saved to external hard drive and not the pictures library in iphoto? Thanks in advance.  r ahrens

    Is the limitation of 1000 pixels something that's intended to sell Premiere Pro for people wanting true HD resolution?
    The 1000 x 750 suggestion is for an SD/DVD-Video Project. With a BD Project, you would bump that up to match your intended output, say 1440 x 1080, with a bit of room to Pan on a Zoomed out image.
    Personally, for an SD Project, I will Scale the vast majority of the images to the exact size that I need - 720 x 480. When I have a few images that will be Panned on, while Zoomed out, I will calculate the movement that I need and resize to those dimensions. The 1000 x 750 size takes the possibility of the Pan into account. I like to match things up as perfectly as I can, even if it means Scaling some image to one size, and others to another. Many just want something that will probably work for all images and just Scale to one size for everything.
    The larger the image vs the Project's Frame Size, the more processing power will be needed, and the more Scaling that will be heaped onto PrE, resulting in slightly lower quality, as opposed to resizing in Photoshop.
    I'm not positive about the limit in PrE, but in its "big-brother," PrPro, the limit is 4096 pixels in the largest dimension. Obviously, there are not many instances where one would want images that large, unless they needed to do a major Pan, while Zoomed out. It would not take too many such images, before the program is bogged down too much to function. If someone had such images, I would strongly advise that they look into Adobe AfterEffects to do the animations, and then output as a DV-AVI, or appropriate intermediate format, to be Imported into the NLE.
    Hope that this helps and good luck,
    Hunt

  • Need script for exporting images to EPS

    I need to write a script to export a whole bunch of files from Indesign CS3 to EPS files. Right now we do them one at a time...here are the steps we take that we would need included in the script...
    Select all (Control A), ungroup, convert to outlines (control-shift O), export (need to be able to say black or white or RGB) and then close the file without saving.
    and if there was anyway to loop this script for 20 files at a time that would be really helpful.
    Can any help or direct me to a website that can help.
    Thanks!

  • Script for saving GIF with Animation Loop Endless

    Hi,
    I am searching for a way to use  "save for web" in a Photoshop CC Script.
    I already found how to use the "save for web" using Script, but now i am stuck, because i cannot find any information on how to set
    that the animation, i want to save as a Animated GIF File, can be set to loop endless.
    I already tried to search in all the docs i found about scripting, but there is not a single information about saving gif with animation loop endless...
    thanks,
    Philipp

    When you do use "save for web" and select GIF, on the bottom right, the loop mode can be selected. But i think i wouldn't matter to me if it's being set before saving the image.
    I already tried to run the script, but somehow
    "charIDToTID('Ordn')" for example won't run. Is this the same as charIDToTypeID? because i found charIDToTypeID is a function, but charIDToTID is not...
    also the third line from the end, one of the functions seem not to work, i think....
    But already you given me a real good answer to what i may try to search for, since i did not actually know that this is set within the timeline, i always used the option within the "save for web" dialog on the bottom-right.
    I Solved my own problem ...
    I just made Photoshop CC with a script log everything, then gotten to this:
    function setLoopForever() {
    var idsetd = charIDToTypeID( "setd" );
        var desc5 = new ActionDescriptor();
        var idnull = charIDToTypeID( "null" );
            var ref2 = new ActionReference();
            var idanimationClass = stringIDToTypeID( "animationClass" );
            var idOrdn = charIDToTypeID( "Ordn" );
            var idTrgt = charIDToTypeID( "Trgt" );
            ref2.putEnumerated( idanimationClass, idOrdn, idTrgt );
        desc5.putReference( idnull, ref2 );
        var idT = charIDToTypeID( "T   " );
            var desc6 = new ActionDescriptor();
            var idanimationLoopEnum = stringIDToTypeID( "animationLoopEnum" );
            var idanimationLoopType = stringIDToTypeID( "animationLoopType" );
            var idanimationLoopForever = stringIDToTypeID( "animationLoopForever" );
            desc6.putEnumerated( idanimationLoopEnum, idanimationLoopType, idanimationLoopForever );
        var idanimationClass = stringIDToTypeID( "animationClass" );
        desc5.putObject( idT, idanimationClass, desc6 );
    executeAction( idsetd, desc5, DialogModes.NO );
    Works perfect!

  • Script for saving/replacing .png´s

    For Photoshop CS5:
    Hi,
    I need a script, which allows me to take the .png file i am working on, and save and replace it in the existing location with the exact same name:
    Without creating the "copy.png" string and preferebly without have to choose "Interlaced" or "None".
    That would be a huge time saver!

    What kind of png – png8 or png24?
    Save for Web or Save as?
    I suppose one might be able to get that information from the file, but it would be easier if one could omit that and just assume one kind of saving process for all files.
    And if you do Layers stuff that can not be saved as png you would nonetheless be asked whether to save the layered file on closing, I guess.

  • Need a script for squaring images of various sizes please

    Hello, new to this group but have been using photoshop for years doing basic editing. I have never done any sripting. I have a project on my hands. I have a lot of image of various sizes with some taller or wider than others. I need to make all these images exactly square though. Currently they vary and are wider or taller etc.
    I was wondering what process I could use hopefully with batch editing but was told scripting might be the answer to automate this process as I have about 8,000 images.
    So for example one image might be 200 pixels wide and 400 pixels high and another is 100 pixels high and 600 pixels wide and so on. I would need the
    1st example to be 400 x 400 and the 2nd example 600 x 600.
    I am using photoshop 5.5
    The software for a shopping cart is using a feature that allows you to zoom in on the image but if it is not perfectly square the image doesn't appear
    well in the software. Using magento e-commerce.
    Thanks for your help and any thoughts on this project of mine.

    Here a simple script the does what I think you want.
    // squares the canvas. uses the background color
    var doc = activeDocument;
    var maxDim = Math.max( doc.width, doc.height );
    doc.resizeCanvas( maxDim, maxDim, AnchorPosition.MIDDLECENTER );

  • Script for saving png

    Is there way to make a script that says: open the save dialog box,
    but with the png format already selected ? or with the last format saved selected.. ?
    Because I need to save a lot of png's one after another with diffrent names,
    but all png's and it's always set to psd...
    Thank's!

    Do you need to make it an interactive save why not just save the png file without a dialog at all if you know the file name you want.
    Beeing lazy I just did a save as PNG and captured the scriptlistener code here is an interactive save as you could make a funcrion out of it. Replace the hard coded path for my desktop with a path var.

  • Resampling/sharpening script for single images

    I ask a lot of questions in this forum, but rarely have anything to offer back. Here's an offering that may come in useful in certain situations.
    Muppet Mark, a talented Applescript writer, has put together a script to my specifications for resampling and sharpening single images in InDesign. It works in CS2, 3 and 4.
    The operation is as follows:
    1. You select the image in InDesign.
    2. The script resamples to an effective ppi (at printed size) of 300.
    3. The script then calls on an Action SHARPEN which applies sharpening via a Smart Unsharp Mask. An edge mask is also applied.
    The process is non-destructive, so if the default sharpening is not quite right, it can easily be changed by opening the image in PS.
    The script, action and details of operation (148 kB) can be downloaded from:
    http://www.mediafire.com/?mij5dnyhtcl
    A CS4 test file (88 MB) to see the effect of the script can be downloaded from:
    http://www.mediafire.com/?yeymmdievnv

    Let me be the first to thank you. Not sure when I'll get a chance to test it, but it could come in handy.

  • Script for combining multiple documents?

    hi there,
    well I think there's been a lot of discussion going towards this topic. My concerns aren't quite lining up with the topics. We using a script for placing images, and instead of going document to document...I would like to combine all the indd documents...there's usually at least 24...and to import NOT as pdf's, just as individual pages within the one document...insert my images using the other script...and then later choosing to re-export the pages as individuals. With ascending order of page numbers in the correct sequence they were brought in as.
    thanks for the help.

    -Printing by folder only helps when I need to run one copy of the files, typically I need to print multiple copies or save them for future printing.  Also I have had errors printing via that method before because it will sometimes overload the printer queue.
    -It would be great if clients always provided print ready documents, but that is usually not the case and I have to correct it which is why I am here asking how to do this.
    And if you can not do that then you need to insert a blank page into the files with an odd number of pages.
    Right.  That is what I am looking for; something to automate inserting a blank page into files that have an odd number of pages WITHOUT knowing the documents page counts before hand and WITHOUT having to manually insert blank pages.

  • Saving images from Muse gallery.

    Hi,
    My client has recently addressed an inquiry to me. He was trying to download images from any gallery-page on the website that i designed from him: http://www.andreyisakov.com
    It is a simple gallery created with a lightbox slideshow widget.
    However, it is only possible to save the entire webpage, i.e. the gallery as a whole. There seems to be no way to save a single image (tried in Safari and Chrome both on Win and Mac).
    Does anybody know the solution to the problem or a workaround making it possible to save images from Muse gallery?
    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi
    Users can save the image displayed on page with a right click action > save image.
    Are you looking for some specific function for saving image files on page ?
    Thanks,

  • Trouble saving images when viewing directly

    I've noticed recently that, when trying to save an image I am looking at after using "View Image," what tends to happen is that the download "starts," but no progress is made and the image won't be downloaded unless I were to close Firefox and restart it, at which point the image would then download and be saved to my computer.
    Canceling the download does not work-that is, it can be canceled, but Firefox will still think it is downloading, as indicated by the prompt that appears if I attempt to close Firefox in this fashion.
    I thought this was limited to Tumblr, but it seems to happen on other sites such as Pixiv and typically when I choose to view the image directly and then attempt to save it-saving an image loaded onto an existing page produces no problems, it seems. This does not affect all such images, however, but I am unsure what the criteria are for reproducing this.
    Another issue related to this is that sometimes, if I restart Firefox to download any images I "queue" in this manner, they end up producing 162-byte image files that Windows Image Viewer naturally can't quite read.

    I do not have any plugins or anything for saving images outside of Firefox's native "Save Image As" feature.
    As for those articles:
    * Download history size doesn't seem to matter
    * The folders should be fine, no need to switch to a different folder
    *Don't think I should try a reset just yet...
    *Changing file type settings might work, but I think that's only for if I'm downloading an image from, say, a link versus the Save-As I tend to use.
    *As mentioned above, no plugins are being used to my knowledge
    *Haven't checked my anti-virus, but I doubt that's the issue
    I think my problem seems to be highly unique.

  • Saving Images to disk

    I'm going to be making some graph Images, and I'm curious about saving them to disk. I've considered using Quicktime for Java, because quicktime supports so many image types and I need this versatility. The main problem is that, either way, I don't know how to save an Image to a file.

    U can down the encode from www.acme.com
