The preference for the path is not working, this is a bug and is logged.
For set server output: The output is written to the DBMS Output tab and you need to use the toggle on that screen to set server output on.

  • Using SET SERVEROUTPUT ON in procedure

    Hi,
    Can I use SET SERVEROUTPUT ON inside a procedure. The reason is I am building a procedure in Toad and will execute in SqlPlus. In future I will only use SqlPlus to execute and view my result.

    No.
    Although you can use DBMS_OUTPUT.ENABLE, it only re-enables output that was previously disabled (with DBMS_OUTPUT.DISABLE). It does not alter the current SQL*Plus SERVOUTPUT setting.
    For example,
    SQL> set serveroutput on size 1000000
    SQL>
    SQL> begin
      2      dbms_output.enable(1000000);
      3      dbms_output.put_line('Eat more bananas');
      4  end;
      5  /
    Eat more bananas
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> set serveroutput off
    SQL>
    SQL> r
      1  begin
      2      dbms_output.enable(1000000);
      3      dbms_output.put_line('Eat more bananas');
      4* end;
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SQL> show serverout
    serveroutput OFF

  • Print Shortcut does not use set Print Defaults

    Hi there!
    I have a question regarding using the Print Command in Mac's version of Office.  I will try my best to describe the issue.
    I have a user who wants his default print settings to include 1-sided printing.  If he goes and sets up the feature like that and then saves those settings as his default print settings it prints 1-sided printouts when he selects File>Print or Cmd>Print.  It does not print 1-sided however, if he selects the Print Command shortcut (the little printer button shortcut).
    I attempted to remove the shortcut and re-add it, being sure to select the shortcut whose description included using the default print settings but it still won't work.  Anyone seen this before?  Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

    Hmmm, wondering what I was thinking now... I don't see a way to set double sided there!?
    I guess you're stuck using CMD+p, if that works.

    Relative paths are_always_ relative to the swf, regardless of
    the media
    type. Note that media is actually _already_ plural ;-).
    So try:
    "./medias/test.flv"
    or possibly
    "../medias/test.flv"

  • SQL Developer 1.5.3: SIZE honored in SET SERVEROUTPUT ON SIZE nbr ?

    I'm running some PL/SQL in SQL Developer 1.5.3 and am getting some buffer overflow error messages while using dbms_output.put_line.
    At the top of my script, I've put:
    set serveroutput on size 100000
    But get these errors:
    ORA-20000: ORU-10027: buffer overflow, limit of 20000 bytes
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_OUTPUT", line 35
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_OUTPUT", line 198
    ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_OUTPUT", line 139
    ORA-06512: at line 28
    Does SQL Developer 1.5.3 not, in fact, honor the SIZE portion of SET SERVEROUTPUT ON? If not, can this be set in the preferences? (couldn't find it).
    Thanks.

    Danadbms_output.enable(buffer_size) has been available since 9i if not before.

  • Set "serveroutput on" for the current session.

    I'm still new to PL/SQL and I use "*SET SERVEROUTPUT ON SIZE 100000"* always before I run a PL program block to get dbms_output. I really need to know why should we specify a size in this line & what that size will be applied for. Also I need to know whether there is any possibility to set serveroutput enabled for the current session, rather than running this code line before each and every PL block.
    I Tried *"ALTER SESSION SET SERVEROUTPUT ON SIZE 1000000"* ; But it was not successfully executed.
    Thanks!

    SQL>dbms_output.enable is used to enable the output buffer (or set the size of it) on the server side of things. It can't influence the client application into retrieving and displaying the output from the buffer, even if that is SQL*Plus. ;)

  • My website is telling users to install a flash/shockwave plug in but my site does not use either.

    Like I said in the title we are getting the pop up bar asking users to install a flash plug in but there are not any flash objects on our site. I did an experiment and I found when I disable the shockwave plug-in on a machine that has it installed I get the pop-up and when I enable it on a machine that has it installed the pop-up goes away. I think I might have pin pointed the problem to a tracking script because when I remove the script the website does not ask for a plug-in. I contacted the people who made the script and they told me their script does not use flash in anyway. Does anyone have any idea why our useres are being asked to install the plug-in?
    Here is the pop-up:

    Do you have any advertising on the site that could be using shockwave? If not the script you mention must somehow be using it somehow, you have even confirmed this removing it and there is no prompt.
    What happens if you try it using another browser such as Firefox?

  • SET SERVEROUTPUT ON TOAD

    hi
    how can I use "SET SERVEROUTPUT ON" clause on toad

    Same as you would in SQL*Plus: Simply type SET SERVEROUT ON in the SQL editor and run with F5.
    Alternatively there's a button on the DBMS_OUTPUT desktop panel which should light up green. Output will then be generated when the statement is run with F9.

  • Setting field to NULL using script does not work

    Hi,
    This is a Hibernate and Oracle SQL developer-related question.
    My application uses salesmeeting with customers and an officer. When the salesmeeting is active, OfficerID is set to the salesmeeting. If the officer closes the salesmeeting, officerID shall be set to NULL. Now, sometimes when explorer doesn't close correctly, the OfficerID is still set in the database. So, when another officer tries to login to the salesmeeting it's is locked by the first officer because only one officer at the time can access a salesmeeting.
    Now to the problem: I'm trying to develop a script which simply updates the database and sets the officerID for a specific salesmeeting to NULL in order to "unlock" that salesmeeting.
    The script looks like this:
    UPDATE SALESMEETING SET OFFICERID = NULL
    WHERE OFFICERID = 'XXXXX' AND SALESMEETINGID = '12345'
    I commit the changes and OfficerID is set to NULL or (null) as it looks is SQL developer.
    When logging in to the application, officerID is set to the active officer, so far so good. But, when running the Hibernate method saveOrUpdate() for the salesmeeting, the server hangs and nothing happens.
    The thing is, when I manually set officerID to NULL by simply leaving the field blank, saveOrUpdate() works perfectly fine.
    The third way of setting trying to set the value to null, by manually setting officerID
    by typing (null) in the field generates another problem (I guess this is interpreted as the String "(null)")?
    So, what I am wondering is what my script does wrong, is it not really setting officerID to NULL or is there something I need to understand about Hibernates saveOrUpdate()?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    To set a column to null, you have written right script.
    Please make sure that 'null' & null are entirly different thing.
    may be when system get hang, you might have written 'null' in stead of null.
    Thanks.

  • How can I set a polygon's path by using the .add() function?

    I have been searching the web and this forum and doing plenty of experimenting, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this.
    I can set other attributes of a polygon inside the add() parentheses, such as the fillColor, but I can't set the polygon's path's pathPoints unless I use a separate line of code after the add(); line.
    My script adds a great deal of polygons in a row, so halving the number of operations would greatly help me, and also it seems that some properties such as appliedObjectStyle cannot be set until after a polygon's path is defined. That means I need a third line of code after add() and entirePath=, which slows me down even more.
    Help?

    Ryan, I think you need to reset and take a moment to understand what it is that is going on here.
    The things you've proposed that don't work shouldn't work, and it's all quite simple.
    Generally speaking, a .add() function takes an additional parameter, a JavaScript Object, that list properties of the created object that can be set.
    A JavaScript Object is a list of key/value pairs, just like an associative array in a language like perl, or a dictionary in a language like Python. It is expressed in curly braces as such:
    { key1: value1, key2: value2, key3: value3}
    So, for any such general add function, these
    foo = whatever.add();
    foo.bar = baz;
    are equivalent to this:
    foo = whatever.add({bar: baz});
    Are you with me? So, for instance, you had originally asked why you could not use pathPoints in polygons.add() and the answer is simpe. You cannot set polygon.pathPoints, because there is no .pathPoints property of a polygon.
    So, when you want to try add properties inside properties, you must do as as objects within objects, and follow the strict hierarchy. Marc advises that this works:
    app.activeWindow.activePage.polygons.add({
        fillColor:"FireRed",
        transparencySettings: {dropShadowSettings: {angle:120}}
    and if indeed that is so, then the extension for setting multiple transparencySettings should be clear. It is not this, that you propose:
    app.activeWindow.activePage.polygons.add({
        fillColor:"FireRed",
        transparencySettings: {dropShadowSettings: {angle:120}}
        transparencySettings: {dropShadowSettings: {distance:1}}
    Because to do so is to set the transparencySettings key twice in the same Object. And to do that is to replace the first with the second. The above (yours) is wholly equavelent to:
    app.activeWindow.activePage.polygons.add({
        fillColor:"FireRed",
        transparencySettings: {dropShadowSettings: {distance:1}}
    If you wish to set more than one attribute of dropShadowSettings, you must set transparencySettings to an object containing one and only one dropShadowSettings, and you must do it only once. So it is this:
    app.activeWindow.activePage.polygons.add({
        fillColor:"FireRed",
        transparencySettings:
          {dropShadowSettings: {angle:120, distance: 1}}
    I am not sure why you thought you should have the name of the key in the Object named properties. That is probably because in some cases you can use:
    foo.properties = { a: 1, b: 2};
    as a shorthand for
    foo.a=1;
    foo.b=2;
    but you would [probably] never want to mix that with the object notation for setting multiple properties in the .add() function.
    Does this help to clarify?
    As for your last question:
    Also, it doesn't let me use square brackets or parentheses inside the add() parentheses, so the original problem I posted (trying to set a polygon's path) is still a problem.
    It's not about the use of brackets or parentheses, but what they mean and where they go. As you have not posted an example of setting the polygon's path the long way, it's hard to show you how to shorten it. Post what you have that works, and we will show you how to shorten it. (I suppose some with more patience than I are willing to go look up what we think it is you are trying to do, and then interpret it. But I would much rather you show me the code you have that works, and then your attempts to transform or shorten it and change its notation. This makes it much much easier to help you, and it should also make the help more effective, by contextualizing it. As an added benefit, when someone else reads your post and tries to learn from it, they will gain more.)
    So again, please provide a clear example of the "long way" to do the thing you are attempting, and then your attempt at shortening it.
