Script to select file source

basically what i'm looking for is a command to:
identify the open file (in any application)
select that file in finder so that i can do with it what i want through automator /applescript
i want this to be available under the "service" tab in the application menu
so say i have a pages application open, i go to "pages" --> "services" and then click the service i've just created which selects this file at it's location in the finder and does my desired action

I believe that you would need to develop a cocoa application to add items to the Services menu. Another approach would be to use the Scripts menu.

How to run script on selected files in Bridge

I have a script that takes an open Photoshop document and saves it to four different resolutions in different folders. I'd like to be able to select files in Bridge and run the script on the selected files instead of having to do it each image individually in PS. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks!

Does anyone have a script that would select files in a folder based on extension, then move the files somewhere else?

You have to be completely accurate about the path. If your hard disk is called "Macintosh HD", then it's
every file of folder "Macintosh HD:Applications:FileMaker Pro 6 Folder" whose name extension = "tab"
You can generalise this for other users if you can't be sure about the name of their hard disk:
set apps_folder to path to applications folder as string
set fmp_folder to apps_folder & "FileMaker Pro 6 Folder"
tell application "finder" to get every file of folder fmp_folder whose name extension = "tab"

Possible to run a photoshop script by selecting files in Bridge?

I have a good script I've written that I always used to run from Photoshop. The script has a dialog box which asks where to get the files from. Is it possible to select files in bridge and run the script from there? Without rewriting it for Bridge?

Yes, this is possible. However, a much easier solution is to select the files in
Bridge then switch to PS manually to run your script. It avoids having to having
to write any code to run in Bridge at the cost of not having seamless integration.
In xtools/xlib/XBridgeTalk.jsx I have a set of functions that simplify working
with Bridge from within PS. For instance:
var files = XBridgeTalk.getBridgeSelection();
will return an array of Files that are currently selected in Bridge. If Bridge
isn't running or if no files are selected it returns an empty array.

FDM import script with selectable source file

Hi All,
I would like to build an import script attached to an import format that imports a text file with multiple value columns.
Source file:
Entity, Detail, Account 1, Account 2
E_abc, D_abc, 100, 200
In FDM this needs to be:
Entity, Detail, Account, Amount
E_abc, D_abc, Account 1, 100
E_abc, D_abc, Account 2, 200
So i need to loop through the file.
My biggest challenge is that when i attach a script to an import format in the import process i cannot select a file from inbox anymore, it has to be a pre-defined file.
Has someone an example or solution how to make a script-import format and enable the select file from inbox?
And if possible has someone an example script of the issue stated above?

Could you tell me what script to use to open the file in the befImport script, or how to rename the file in memory to a new one?
So i write a script that rewrites the file to a new file in the inbox but i need to tell FDM that it needs to process this new file.

Advance select for source file in Sender File Adapter

Hi
I am trying to utilise the parameter 'Advance Selection for source file' on a sender file adapter to pick the file from multiple folders
My problem is that this parameter that is listed on the SAP help is not getting in File accessing Parameters.
I am running PI 7.02 (NW702_07_Rel)
Service pack 07
Has anyone come across this before?
any suggestions on how to do this?

Advanced selection for source file

Hi,
Requirement: One source directory, multiple file names. File needs to be picked up from source directory and send to target directory with same name as source file name.
Source file name pattern sample: AP5_X_yyyyddmm, A35_X_yyyyddmm, AP5_Y_yyyyddmm, AP5_Y_yyyyddmm.
Target file name should be :AP5_X_yyyyddmm, A35_X_yyyyddmm, AP5_Y_yyyyddmm, AP5_Y_yyyyddmm
Can we define multiple place holders as :
Directory
File Name Mask
Exclusion Mask
\\Source
AP5_X*.txt, A35_X.txt, AP5_Y*.txt, AP5_Y*.txt
When I tried for single place holder, the scenario was working but when I tried adding multiple place holders it was not working.
How can we achieve the above scenario?

Yes you understood it right.
I am able to achieve this now. The only change that I did is instead of giving all the placeholders in same line I have given it in different lines and this is working now.
Sender Adapter Configuration: Checked Advanced selection for source file and used Adapter specific message attributes to keep same file name as source file name.

Advanced Selection for Source File + SourceFileSize = invalid file size?

I have a File Adapter using FTP protocol. I've turn on all Adapter-Specific Message Attributes, including SourceFileSize. I've activated the Advanced Selection for Source File, and entered several patterns.
When I see my payload via the monitor, I get a "-" in the SourceFileSize value.
<sap:Record namespace="http://sap.com/xi/XI/System/File" name="SourceFileSize">-</sap:Record>
If I disable the "Advanced Selection for Source File", the file size is ok.
Is it just me?

I am doing file(Idoc format) to IDoc scenario. In my scenario I am getting files in three different formats (ex: abc.dat, xyz.dat, 123.edi). My communication channel (sender file adapter) should poll for every 30 mins, picks up the files and map them to Idoc without any mapping.
Need following clarifications:
1. Should I create 3 communication channels to pick up 3 different type files? Or should I use the Advanced selection for source file to pick up them with only one CC?
2. If there is no mapping how should I proceed in this case?

Not required.. if all the files are from the same directory then u can specify . in the file name parameter.. but make sure that only these 3 file types are places in the directory... if this is not the case you can use Advannced Selection... check my Wiki [Single Sender File CC For Multiple Directories|https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/XI/SingleSenderFileCCForMultipleDirectories]

Mappiing is required only if the source and the target structure are different.. if u send the file with the IDocc XML format mapping is not required...

Hi All,
i am working on a scenario in which file needs to be picked up from 3 different directories.say A, B and c
I configured in CC by giving 3 different directories.... in "Advanced selection of source file" option i have given directory B and C there.
....i am using Adapter specific message attributes also for this CC..
Its is working fine, But my issue is : i want to take the back back up for every directory file, means archive...
How can i do that???
please guide me through this.....am i missing any thing?

select processing mode as Archive and mention the archive directory path if u want to add timestamp to the file check the checkbox Add Time Stamp.

I am trying to use Dreamweaver to create dynamic links in my database. The select file dialogue box no longer lets me choose server side data sources. Does any one else know how to use this function in CC?

Finding Selected Files

I started a thread asking how I can find and delete selected files at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6435289#6435289
I was advised to paste the following script into Apple's Script Editor...
tell application "Finder"
delete (every file of entire contents of folder "Sites" of home whose name is "Thumbs.db")
end tell
Unfortunately, it doesn't work. It just times out, my Finder freezes, and I have to manually restart my computer.
However, it does at least FIND every instance of the file I'm looking for. So I'd like to ask about a few variations of this script so I can understand how it works.
Suppose that instead of searching for every instance of Thumbs.db in the folder Sites I wanted to search for every instance of Thumbs.db in User/Sites/MySite. What script would I write to do that? What about searching for the file in User/Sites/MySite/includes ?
Also, what about searching for text on a page rather than a file name? For example, I would like to compile a list of every file in a website that includes a PHP database query. I think I could find all of these queries by searching for mysql_ in each web page's source code. So how could I search for every file that includes "mysql_" in User/Sites/MySite?
