Scripting API: Com exception when calling Session.Record

Hi,
I'm communicating with SAP Scripting API Com-Object from my Net application.
When the Scripting events are disable in server side (by setting sapgui/user_scripting_disable_recording=TRUE in the server profile see Note 692245) ans i try to set the GuiSession.Record property to true i recieve a COM exception.
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80010105): The server threw an exception. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010105 (RPC_E_SERVERFAULT))
at System.RuntimeType.ForwardCallToInvokeMember(String memberName, BindingFlags flags, Object target, Int32[] aWrapperTypes, MessageData& msgData)
at SAPFEWSELib.ISapSessionTarget.set_Record(Boolean )
My question is - is this is the expected behavior? (I wouldn't expect exception when mode is disabled).
Thanks,
Dror.

The problem is: i don't know how to check for the HTTP-Header, because
my call
<i>SOAPOutPayload = accessor.call(payload);</i>
throws the mentioned exception, even though it works behind the scene.
Is it possible to check for the HTTP-Response-Code in the catch block?
We want to avoid an synchronous scenario because we don't need the result and the WebService is rather slow.

  • Script crashes AI except when from from the ESTK...

    Has anyone run into an issue where a script crashes Illustrator except when it's run from the ESTK? The script has worked fine in the past but then when we changes to CS6 it will only complete when ran within ESTK.

    I got the same problem! In my company we have three MACs (OSX 10.6.4) connected via fibre channel to a metasan (4.5) controlled raid5 with 24TB.
    All of them crashing unexpected. Sometimes when scrolling trough the timeline, sometimes when we open a project. The performance of the raid is about 320MB/s reading.
    Updated everything, and thought this would save the problem. It got better, but it still exists. Tried to solve it for weeks and really don´t know what to do next.
    Hope anyone can help me!!!

    Hello,
    i'm calling a SOAP-Comunication Channel (Lookup-API) out of my MessageMapping. The WebService Called is <u>asynchron</u> because i just send some data and i don't care about the result. The WebService itselfs is implemented on our XI. In other words: we call us self.

  • Problem when calling session bean from main.

    Hi everyone
    I get the following error when calling a session bean from main(String args[]).
    Sep 3, 2008 9:11:13 AM com.sun.enterprise.appclient.MainWithModuleSupport <init>
    WARNING: ACC003: Application threw an exception.
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    at databasetest.Main.main(Main.java:26)
    Here is my code beneath.
    I'm using netbeans and glassfish application server.
    Everything is in the same project, called DatabaseTest, I also have deployed the application before running the client.
    I'm running the client as follows, right click on the DatabaseTest-app-client and select run.
    The client:
    package databasetest;
    import com.test.UsersFacadeRemote;
    import javax.ejb.EJB;
    import com.test.Users;
    public class Main {
        @EJB
        private static UsersFacadeRemote usersFacade;
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            Users users = new Users(12, 34);
            usersFacade.create(users);
    }The remote facade I'm calling:
    package com.test;
    import java.util.List;
    import javax.ejb.Remote;
    @Remote
    public interface UsersFacadeRemote {
        void create(Users users);
        void edit(Users users);
        void remove(Users users);
        Users find(Object id);
        List<Users> findAll();
    }The stateless bean:
    package com.test;
    import java.util.List;
    import javax.ejb.Stateless;
    import javax.persistence.EntityManager;
    import javax.persistence.PersistenceContext;
    @Stateless
    public class UsersFacade implements UsersFacadeRemote {
        @PersistenceContext
        private EntityManager em;
        public void create(Users users) {
            em.persist(users);
        public void edit(Users users) {
            em.merge(users);
        public void remove(Users users) {
            em.remove(em.merge(users));
        public Users find(Object id) {
            return em.find(com.test.Users.class, id);
        public List<Users> findAll() {
            return em.createQuery("select object(o) from Users as o").getResultList();
    }

    looks like you're banging your head against the same brick wall as [I have done|http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=13&threadID=5317110] and [others have in the past|http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=136&threadID=5259913] if that's any consolation.
    Funny thing is, mine did actually work in the debugger but not when running!
    Strange thing that.
    I did initially interest someone from the developers but they couldn't really help, ended up saying : try instantiating your beans the EJB 2.1 way and see where that gets you. Yes that works but they promised us "hey no more dopey xml deployment descriptors just some cool annotations" didn't they?
    I've got the feeling were' missing something really obvious!

  • NO_PERMISSION Exception when calling secured EJB-methods

    In WL6.1, I have an Ejb with secured methods. The (Swing) client application accesses the Ejb through rmi-iiop using the JDK1.3.1 Orb.
    Unfortunately, it seems that the caller identity (which was supplied in the InitialContext lookup) is not propagated
    to the server: any call to a secured method
    fails with a CORBA NO_PERMISSION Exception.
    Non secured methods work fine.
    Using the t3 protocol the program also works fine, but that would require
    the 25Mb weblogic.jar on all clients,
    which is unattainable for us.
    Any ideas how this situation can be corrected?
    -Allard Siemelink

    I am still getting the NO_PERMISSION Exception when using "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory".
    We use Sun's JRE, version 1.3.1_01.
    Am I forgetting something?
    My code is as follows:
    InitialContext context = null;
    try {
    Hashtable ht = new Hashtable();
    ht.put(InitialContext.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
    ht.put(InitialContext.PROVIDER_URL, "iiop://localhost:80");
    ht.put(InitialContext.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "system");
    ht.put(InitialContext.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "system_password");
    context = new InitialContext(ht);
    Object objHome = context.lookup(EJB_NAME);
    MyHome myHome = (MyHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(objHome, MyHome.class);
    MyRemote myRemote = myHome.create();
    //NEXT LINE Crashes when method is secured:
    myRemote.securedMethod();
    finally {
    if (context!=null) context.close();

    When I want to parse the payload to binding objects the method task.getPayloadAsElement returns a nullpointer exception. I'm using the Remote client variant of the API.
    I hope some one can help me on this issue.
    Thanks in advance!
    -Tom

    The task payload is not populated when fetching a list of tasks using the queryTasks() method. You need to explicitly call getTaskDetailsById() or getTaskDetailsByNumber() to retrieve the complete task with the payload. Then the method task.getPayloadAsElement() should return you the payload as expected.

  • Getting a COM error when calling MenuItemExecute in batch mode

    I support an internal document management system for our corporate contracts. Among other applications, I have one that runs nightly in batch mode to store new invoices and connect them via bookmarks to their corresponding “parent” contract files. The original program was created in 2005 with Acrobat 7 (later updated to Acrobat 8) and it worked well for several years. However, a few months ago I upgraded the system to Acrobat 9 and since then the program has not run consistently.
    The “program” actually consists of a VB application and two plug-ins. The VB application does as much work as it can with IAC and the JSO bridge, but because the files are (owner) password protected one plug-in automatically applies the necessary password using AVDocDidOpen when the VB application opens the AVDoc. The VB application then also calls the other plug-in using MenuItemExecute. The second plug-in is used to create the bookmarks between the two files by grabbing info off bookmark strings and creating the necessary actions. It also applies the password to the files.
    Here is brief outline form is how this is all structured:
    pdDocParent.Open
             pdDocInvoice.Open
                     avDocParent.Open (This triggers the first plug-in to apply the password)
                             Create bookmark strings in both files using JSO bridge
                                    MenuItemExecute (To create the bookmark action in the parent)
                                    pdDocParent.Save
                            avDocParent.Close
                            avDocInvoice.Open (This triggers the first plug-in to apply the password)
                                    MenuItemExecute (To create the bookmark action in the invoice)
                                    pdDocInvoice.Save
                            avDocInvoice.Close
                    pdDocInvoice.Close
            pdDocParent.Close
    Since the upgrade, I’m getting a COM error [The server threw an exception. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010105 (RPC_E_SERVERFAULT))] on a non-consistent basis when the application tries to call MenuItemExecute. When I say “non-consistent” I mean that some days the program will process several hundred files just fine. Other days it won’t process any. Then some days it will not process the first, oh, four files but will process the next 300. Usually it runs fine when started interactively, but even then the error sometimes occurs.
    I recompiled both plug-ins and the VB app using the Acrobat 9 SDK (headers for the plug-in and the Acrobat type library for the VB app) but that didn’t make any difference. I added code to check if the MenuItem is available and it is in all cases.
    After reviewing this more, I got to thinking that perhaps a race condition was the culprit—that a string hadn’t been completely written before the second plug-in tried to create an action for it. So I added some half-second pauses along the way, but that doesn’t seem to have helped, either.
    At this point the only thing I can think of is to rewrite the application as a pure plug-in. But it’s a long and involved application and if I can get the current app to work I’d prefer to do that. I tested it with Acrobat 10.1 and encountered similar problems.
    As I said, it’s been working fine up until Acrobat 9. Does anyone know of anything that might have changed with Acrobat 9 that I haven’t considered? Is there anything else I might check? Thanks.

    Leonard,
    I'd be interested in hearing why you think that because others at Adobe have told me it's OK. Acrobat is only being called by one user at a time and we've paid for a full license.
    Thanks,
    Dick

  • Exception when calling ABAP Proxy modelled in SAP PI: CL_SOAP_RUNTIME_ROOT

    Hi,
    We have a scenario where we:
    1. Modell an interface in SAP PI
       This interface contains a complex type from a different namespace
    2. Use it to create an ABAP proxy in backend system
    3. Configure it with SOAManager
    4. Call the ABAP proxy ws directly from a third-party system (biztalk)
    We're currently testing calling the ABAP proxy from soapUI, but get a strange exception thrown by the SOAP framework in ABAP backend.
    The test in soapUI is setup by importing the WSDL acquired from SOAMANAGER.
    The error message we in the SOAP response is:
    CX_SY_REF_IS_INITIAL:Exception CX_SOAP_ROOT occurred
    (program: CL_SOAP_RUNTIME_ROOT==========CP, include: CL_SOAP_RUNTIME_ROOT==========CM004, line: 130)..
    An exception with the type CX_SY_REF_IS_INITIAL occurred, but was neither handled locally,
    nor declared in a RAISING clause.Dereferencing of the NULL reference
    It is a very low level error from the CL_SOAP_RUNTIME_ROOT program and not a descriptive error message at all.
    We've checked the user and the authorizations it has, we've redone the SOAManager config but the problem persists.
    We find no dumps in the ABAP proxy since the request never reaches it.
    For a limited time I'll make WSDL and SOAP response available
    WSDL (some values anonymized) available at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4379928/SOAP/project.wsdl
    Complete SOAP response is available at http://dl.dropbox.com/u/4379928/SOAP/soap_data.xml
    Any ideas on where to look?

    Hi,
    We've now managed to implement a workaround.
    The workaround was to create the endpoint in PI as well.
    So that the traffic goes from third-party solution->PI-> WS-enabled ABAP Proxy
    When we did this initially, we got some errors related to the asynch method of this call, but this was resolved by changing the channel from "best effort" to "Guaranteed delivery".
    Still we don't know what the root cause of the initial problem was, but we assume it is related to the asynch nature of the service (though we have other asynch proxies that work without problems).

    Even though this exception gets thrown by the DocumentSet.Create() method, a document set with the correct name is created in the right place.  It just doesn't have the correct properties, and it looks to me by the stack trace that what SharePoint is
    choking on is the part of the process where it updates the properties of the newly created document set.
    Now, the exception says I need to allow unsafe updates on the web, but that's already happening.  I'm running the code with elevated privileges, and allowing unsafe updates on the remote web that is the parent web to the list where I'm trying to
    create the document set.
    Here is some pseudo code showing the process:
    protected void MoveContentFolder()
    try
    SPSecurity.RunWithElevatedPrivileges(delegate
    // reach into the other site collection
    using (SPSite site = SPContext.Current.Site.WebApplication.Sites["other/sitecollection/url"])
    using (SPWeb remoteWeb = site.OpenWeb())
    remoteWeb.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
    // find the document library we want
    SPList remoteLib = remoteWeb.Lists[libraryName];
    if (remoteLib != null)
    // get a reference to the library's root folder where we want to put the document set
    SPFolder libraryRoot = remoteLib.RootFolder;
    // get the library's local copy of the doc set's content type ID
    SPContentTypeId docLibMatchId = GetCTypeIdFromList(myDocSetCTypeParentID, remoteLib);
    // set properties and name parameters for the Create() method
    System.Collections.Hashtable properties = some_properties;
    string name = "a name";
    // create the doc set in the remote library
    DocumentSet newDocSet = DocumentSet.Create(libraryRoot, name, docLibMatchId, properties, false);
    // return to a different page
    Page.Response.Redirect("some/other/url"));
    else
    throw new ArgumentNullException("remoteLib", "The document library specified could not be found.");
    remoteWeb.AllowUnsafeUpdates = false; }
    catch (Exception ex)
    throw ex;
    So does anyone know what's going on here?  Why is an exception being thrown that says I need to allow unsafe updates when I already am allowing unsafe updates?  Why is part of the document set creation process working, but the part where the doc
    set item's properties are being set fails?
    Thanks!

    Hi Dylan,
    While creating a DocumentSet from code, SharePoint need to UpdateFileOrFolderProperties by calling COM. In the call, SharePoint may need to update some settings. But these updates are not allowed from Get request. That is why the issue happens.
    Based on my experience, the issue generally happens when updating HttpThrottleSettings. Update HttpThrottleSettings from a web request(GET) is not allowed.
    In this case, you can check from the ULS log, if there is error related to HttpThrottleSettings when "Updates are currently disallowed on GET requests. " happened. If so, please execute the following PowerShell from SharePoint 2010 Management Shell at first:
    $web = get-spwebapplication http://nameofproblemwebapp
    $web.HttpThrottleSettings
    $web.Update()
    If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

    Malcom -
    This is an interesting problem that I could find no bugs or notes about. I hate to say it, but it sounds like the type of issue you will need to call Oracle Support on. Sounds like the type of thing that may need a test case and is too detailed for the forum.
    The only thing I could think of to even suggest (which I am sure you have already done) is make sure that you make it GLOBAL so that if you come back to it will still be there. I guess there is the possibility that when it works is because it has not yet been garbage collected.

    How come when I call the above readfile(), it gives me :
    DeleteScreen.java:70: unreported exception java.lang.Exception; must be caught or declared to be thrown
    readfile();
    However if I change to the following :
    try{readfile()};
    catch (Exception e) {}
    The code works fine. I am still figuring out on throwing exceptions etc. But how come I already throw exceptions it still complains exception not declared?
    Thanks and Rgds

    but the writefile() function which I called in the
    read() also throw exception but how come I do not need
    to catch it for the write()?The error message says it all: must be caught or declared to be thrown. Thus, you must either catch the exception using try-catch or you must declare that your method throws the exception using the throws declaration.
    Your call to writefile() is in the method readfile() that already declares that it throws Exception. So there is no problem there.
    BTW, you should know that it is generally ill-advised to catch or declare exception using the superclass Exception. You should use as specific an exception class as possible. In this case I suppose it would be IOException.

    Hi ,
    Looks like this is not a Forms side problem or even a Reports Servlet problem
    Some guesses.
    From the exception
    at oracle.reports.engine.EngineImpl.CGetEnv(Native Method)
    at oracle.reports.engine.EngineImpl.getEnvs(EngineImpl.java:453)
    it looks like engine crashing. Did you see the server GUI up and running ? Server might not have started
    Give
    rwserver server=<server_name> in command line.
    The server GUI should come up and show "ready "
    You have multiple Oracle Homes on the same machine. So this could be a PATH problem.
    1) Go to ControlPanel -> System - Advanced - Env variables - System Variables
    Copy the IDS specific PATH to clipboard
    Go to iDS_HOME\bin\ and open a command window. Set only the above PATH here. Start a standalone server
    rwserver server=<server_name>
    and try
    (If this works you could write a batch file later)
    2) For trouble shooting purposes use a different server name to start the standalone server.
    3) Also look in your registry
    HKLM\Software\Oracle\Home<x>\
    Here please see whether you have any "very long" environment variable (say more than 256 chars or 512 chars).
    This is just a guess.
    4) To confirm this is not a Reports servlet problem
    give
    rwclient report=<report_name> + ..... <server=server_name>
    If you get same error, then it is not a servlet problem. It could be that Reports server is crashing
    Thanks
    Ratheesh
