Scripts folder isn't in site root

Hello Everyone,
I recently added a .flv file to a web page and noticed that DW created a script folder in the following location.
<script src="file:///C|/Documents and Settings/Todd Benrud/Application Data/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS5/en_US/Configuration/Temp/Assets/eam4382.tmp/Scripts/swfobject_modified.js"
Any idea why or how I can correct this?
Thanks,
Todd

  • Cannot select proper root folder for new DW site in DW CS6

    Hi,
I'm new to Dreamweaver and am trying to set up a new DW site to do a tutorial.   I am trying to create a new DW site named "Check CS6 Tutorial".  The Local site folder defaults to: C:\Users\Pam\Desktop\Unnamed Site 2\ but I don't want that.  I browse folders to choose 'c:\dreamweaver' and get the error message:
The root folder you have chosen is the same as the folder for site 'Pam-Test'.  This may cause some operations, such as synchronization, to work incorrectly.  Proceed anyway?
I keep trying to select the c:\dreamweaver location for my files but keep getting the error message above.

You need to organize your sites in individual folders for DW to function correctly.
Personally, I would create a folder on your desktop called "Websites". Then inside that folder, create another folder called "tutorial site". Set "tutorial site" as your new tutorial site's root folder and put all of the tutorial site's files and folders into it. All of a site's resources need to stay inside that site's root, so all .html, .jpg, .gif, .js, .css, etc.
Any additional sites would then have their own folder created inside the "Websites" folder and that folder would be their site root. All of the files for each individual site needs to stay inside that sites individual root folder. The structure would look like...
    Websites
         tutorial site
              all of tutorial site's files
         pam-test
              all pam-test site files
         website 3
              all of website 3's files
         etc...

  • Is there a way to recover an overwritten image folder in a site root?

I mistakenly did a 'get' of the 'images' folder in my remote site and it overwrote my local site file, which contained many new photoshopped jpgs that I had spent hours creating and had recently placed there for the site work.
I am working in CS5 on a Windows 7 desktop PC.
The overwritten images folder I want to recover was stored on my 'z' drive (public drive), which I use for all my work so that I can also access it via my laptop (networked) if working in another area of the house.
Is there any magic recovery for this overwritten file folder or should I just start the many hours of work over again?
To add to the stress, the site must go live in a few days to please my customer.
    URGENT & FRANTIC,
    Sally

    Hello Sally,
in this case and under the condition that you have already unsuccessful scanned/searched all positions of your hard drive with a file-manager, there is still that possibility which you should do as quickly as possible, without any other file operations. I didn't see your thread earlier, hope it's not too late, yet!
If you're lucky, some of your file are still intact on your hard disk and you get your file back with an "unerase tool", like Norton-Utilities. You could try Google search too. A (German) tool finds here: http://www.chip.de/downloads/O-amp-O-UnErase_13014611.html.
Before a file is deleted completely, the operating system removes only the first letter of the file's name. PHYSICALLY the file is still situated on your hard disk(s). The unerase tools can detect it and it draws up a list which will give you a detailed record of these files which can be recovered. Here a screenshot of my German "Unerase Tool":
    "Wiederherstellen" means something like "recover".
    Good luck!

  • Moving a site with links relative to site root

    hi:
we have a dedicated server (Linux, Apache) with several
    virtual hosts:
    /vhost/site01/home/html/
    /vhost/site02/home/html/
now, i need to add some sites (developed by other people and
    working in
their own servers) as "microsites" inside site01. so i
    created a folder
named microsites and a subfolder for each one:
    /vhost/site01/home/html/microsites/xxx/
    /vhost/site01/home/html/microsites/yyy/
and a FTP account for each developer
the problem is that one of them (HTML, Flash & a lot of
    Perl scripts)
was developed using links relative to site root so, they
    don't work anymore
besides changing every link to the new path, any other way to
    solve the
problem? perphaps on server sidewith a directive on a

Haven't used it since the DWMX time frame and that was only
for some quick testing, but an extension named Relativity can be
run site wide to change from one type to another:

  • Active Content: cannot change Scripts folder name?

    Using DW 8.0.2.
After I accept the Active Content workaround to be applied to
my pages, I'd like to change Scripts folder name to "scripts" or
even move the scripts to my "jscript" folder, which already exists.
When I do this DW correctly asks to update the page links, but even
with the correct links the scripts does not run anymore.
It seems to be caused by some JS code included in the
scripts, which points to "Scripts" folder in site root. But I don't
know enough JS to identify and modify this. Any help will be very
    welcome.

Shouldn't happen. I have moved the AC .....js file many times
    to different
folders and if the path is correct, everything works
    properly. Can you
    please post a link.

  • How to make site root-relative links work in DW and Server both?

See details on buggy DW image link behavior, below. My question is:
    1) how to make site root-relative links work in DW and Server both? Or…
    2) how to reliably automate the change of several hundred legacy root-relative links of the form
    /images/image.jpg  to document-relative?
    That is, to
    ../images/image.jpg or
    ../../images/image.jpg or
../../../images/image.jpg etc…depending on where the directory is.
The old format (/images/image.jpg ) used to work fine in my previous DW 8 configuration but appear grey in DW after “upgrading” to DW cs5.5 mac. (they look fine on the server, but it’s hard to edit image-heavy pages locally when they are all grey).
I tried changing the files to how DW creates root relative links now:
/public_html/images/image.jpg, which is a very easy, attractive root flow since there’s a one-to-one mapping. These look great in DW but are broken on the server!
I looked at the “advanced” site setup, and it looked like it might be possible to nuke the /public_html/ part of my server info…but it also looked like there was the potential for doing damage changing these settings, which are automatically generated from our server connection settings, which seem to work.
The “links relative to document/ site root” toggle…does that change how DW interprets existing links, or just change the default when you are adding a link?  I have made 80% of the file links document relative…before wondering if root-relative isn’t better?
It sure seems less ambiguous for all those images if theres a way to make root relative work for DW design view, DW link check, and server.
Summary of buggy behavior: (see test with images here)
    "old style" site root link
          /images/img_book/WScover120x150_NEW.jpg
Design veiw in DW: broken (grey w/ broken icon)
Link check in DW: "external link" (i.e., uncheckable, + file could appear orphaned)

Ease of switching: n/a (existing format)

          Design veiw in DW: good

    Similar discussion on "/"

    Hello again Jon!
    Thanks for jumping on this.
All clear and understood about where publc_html is etc.
No contemplation of nuking the actual public_html directory on the server, just the "/public_html" text string at the start of the DW-generated links.
"/public_html" is automatically added to the front of the link in DW if I create the link with any of the GUI tools, if I have "site root relative" selected. And ""/public_html" ends up in the code, and gets uploaded that way to the server, where it (obviously) doesn't work.
Doesn't sound like it is supposed to work this way. Also, what seems to be the usual root relative format (/images/image.jpg) shows as a broken link in the GUI and an external link in the DW link check. All this togther makes me thinkI have some obscure setting incorrect?
The setting that caught my eye is manage sites/ site setup/ advance settings/ local info/ web url,  which is automatically set to http://www.oasisdesign.net/public_html/
it gives an option to change it but it makes every effort to make this NOT look like something users should mess with:
Having gone through the more careful thought process during this post, I'm ready to do the experiment of changing the remote server web URL (why is it wrong by default?)...think I'll eat dinner first so there's 45 min to avert disaster if anyone knows this to be a bad idea!
    Art
PS--don't  have a local testing server...don't think this will solve the GUI broken link/ link shows as external problems.
Is there an easy, automated way to change links sitewide from document to root relative?

  • Dreamweaver local site root no longer recognized after Leopard installation

  • How to set FileSystemWatcher powershell script to exclude folders within the root path being monitored?

    All,
I want to use a pre-fab script to monitor the OS folders on a Windows 2008 R2 Domain Controller and send any changes into the Event Log.  But there are two folders in the file path I want to exclude because changes to them would fill up the Event Logs
too quickly.  Thus, I want to monitor all folder in C:\Windows but want to exclude C:\Windows\Temp and C:\Windows\debug.
The script I want to use is below.
#This script uses the .NET FileSystemWatcher class to monitor file events in folder(s).
#The advantage of this method over using WMI eventing is that this can monitor sub-folders.
#The -Action parameter can contain any valid Powershell commands.
I have just included two for example.
#The script can be set to a wildcard filter, and IncludeSubdirectories can be changed to $true.
#You need not subscribe to all three types of event.  All three are shown for example.
    # Version 1.1
$folder = 'C:\Windows' # Enter the root path you want to monitor.
    $filter = '*.*'  # You can enter a wildcard filter here.
    # In the following line, you can change 'IncludeSubdirectories to $true if required.
    $fsw = New-Object IO.FileSystemWatcher $folder, $filter -Property @{IncludeSubdirectories = $true;NotifyFilter = [IO.NotifyFilters]'FileName, LastWrite'}
    # Here, all three events are registerd.  You need only subscribe to events that you need:
    Register-ObjectEvent $fsw Created -SourceIdentifier FileCreated -Action {
    $name = $Event.SourceEventArgs.Name
    $changeType = $Event.SourceEventArgs.ChangeType
    $timeStamp = $Event.TimeGenerated

    # To stop the monitoring, run the following commands:
    # Unregister-Event FileDeleted
    # Unregister-Event FileCreated
    # Unregister-Event FileChanged
Is there a command line I can use to exclude thos two folders?
    Thanks

First, thank you to everyone who has been helping me.  I've gotten a little bit further in what I need to do.  I still have two problems that I really need help in sorting out:
    1. The script will run on Windows 7 with no errors but will not run on a Server 2008 R2 Domain Controller.  On the DC, I get an error for the SourceIdentifier:  "A parameter cannot be found that mataches parameter name 'SourceIdentifier'."
    2. Even though the script runs on Windows 7 with no errors, I tested it by making changes to the Temp and debug folders and the changes were still being recorded in the logs.
A copy of the updated script I am running is below:
#This script uses the .NET FileSystemWatcher class to monitor file events in folder(s).
#The advantage of this method over using WMI eventing is that this can monitor sub-folders.
#The -Action parameter can contain any valid Powershell commands.  I have just included two for example.

  • Solution to using Site Root with Sub-folders on Testing Server & Browser Previews

    Hi Everyone
Have found an elegant solution when using Site Root relative linking for a website, that allows browser previews, even when the testing server uses sub-folders and the live code references just the server site root " / " of the live server and not the sub-folder structure of the testing server.  This is really useful when you don't want to use document relative linking, which normally takes care of this problem in Dreamweaver.
The solution is to use sub-domains referencing the sub-folders on the testing server, so the sub-folders appear as the root of each website and the html code pointing to the site root works correctly on both testing & live servers without alteration.
    Testing Server Setup
One testing server domain is used for all client development work:
    For example:  www.testingserver.com
On the testing server there are multiple sub-folder (one for each client website being developed):
    For example:  www.testingserver.com/clientA/ ,  www.testingserver.com/clientB/ , www.testingserver.com/clientC/
    Live Server Setup
The site code needs to be developed with the final live server folder structure (url references) in mind:
For example:  www.livesite.com (with all pages referencing the root of the live site server)
Page URLs on Testing & Live Servers
    /page-name.html
    Testing server url:  www.testingserver.com/clientA/page-name.html
    Live server url:  www.livesite.com/page-name.html (without /clientA/ sub-folder)
    Browser Previews Don't Work
You want to be able to run browser previews on the testing server while developing the website.  To do this you normally have to reference the sub-folder structure of the testing server in the url for things to work right:
    For example www.testingserver.com/clientA/page-name.html
What do you do, when you can't keep switching all the urls in the code from pointing to the sub-folder to pointing to the site root, and you don't want to use document relative linking?
One Solution - Sub-domains on Testing Server
In your domain hosting (outside of Dreamweaver) setup a sub-domain to point to the testing server sub-folder.
    For example:  Sub-domain clientA.testingserver.com points to www.testingserver.com/clientA (sub-folder)
So now when you reference the sub-domain it sees the sub-folder as the site root and all your problems are solved.
    Dreamweaver Site Definition Setup
    Site Definition under "Local Info"
    Links relative to: Site Root
Site Definition under "Remote Info" (live server)
    Access: FTP
    FTP host:  ftp.livesite.com
    Host directory: /
    Site Definition under "Testing Server"
    Access: FTP
    FTP host:  clientA.testingserver.com
    Host directory: /
    URL prefix: http://clientA.testingserver.com
(location of the site's root folder on the testing server, the sub-domain redirection takes care of pointing to the sub-folder)
This is just one solution but it works well for me as it doesn't have any cost associated with it under our hosting package where you can have multiple sub-domains setup.
Hope this helps someone in a similar situation.
    Aly

Just Google it, or run out and buy a copy of David Powers' Foundations Dreamweaver CS4 with CSS, Ajax and PHP, a book that is never out of reach for me.  He details the process explicitly for both Mac and PC.
For me, on W7, I edit the C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/hosts file, and add the ip of my testing server along with the site alias -
    192.168.1.82  site.local
Then I add this same designation to my httpd.conf file in Apache on the testing server.  Finally I restart Apache.
Now from my production machine if I browse to "http://site.local", I get to see either the default file in the root of the site on the testing server, or a directory of the site on the testing server (my testing server is a unix box running on my LAN at that ip address).  Furthermore, all of my root relative links now work as they would if the pages were being browsed from the live server.

  • Cannot find Modem Scripts folder under Liberary

I am to install a modem script for my Blackberry Bold 9000 phone. However, I cannot find the Modem Scripts folder under \Library folder, where it was supposed to be located. Yet I can still use my Sony Ericsson phone as a 3.5G Bluetooth modem accessing the Internet, which means there is the modem script working in my MacBook. Please advise how I can pinpoint the \Modem Scripts folder? Or should I just create one myself? Thanks very much

Are you sure you are looking in the root level Library folder & not in the Library folder in your home folder or in the /System/Library folder?
To be sure, in Finder, hold down the command & shift keys & tap the "g" key. In the dialog sheet that drops down, type in "/Library/" (without the quotes & press the return key or click the "Go" button. Do you now see /Library/Modem Scripts in the window?

  • Startup Script folder empty - no Bridge CS5 Output to Web?

Something must have gone wrong installing CS5 Photoshop over CS4 Indesign!
Even after net-updating to Bridge 4.0.2 the startup script folder (Preferences > Startup Scripts) is empty. When selecting the Output Workspace in Bridge, there is no pane that let one output to Web Gallery or Contact Sheet.
I'm doing this meanwhile in CS4 Bridge, where it works fine. This Bridge version was coming with CS4 InDesign.
I downloaded CS5 Photoshop in April (I guess it's an International English upgrade) running it on OSX 10.6.4 on a new 17" Book.
Is there an upgrade coming, how can I achieve full functionality of Bridge CS5?
Than you in advance for your input,
    Bernd Rummel

    Hi Omke,
I did download and install the Photoshop CS5 upgrade by April. Since the Output to Web Gallery pane was not there at the Output workspace as well as all Sartup Scripts are missing at Bridge Preferences, I completely reformatted (actually changed the partitions) and reinstalled OSX 10.6.3, my 17" Book came with. Than I upgraded to OSX 10.6.4.
Now, before doing (screwing up) anything else, I installed Acrobat 9 and run the rather lengthy process of installing each and every upgrade to the latest version. Than I installed InDesign CS4 (version 6) and upgraded this. Finally I installed Photioshop CS5, only to still have the Startup Scripts and subsequently the output to web gallery pane missing. Of course, also the Twitter and Facebook stuff is not there. However, this is not my concern since I do not use them.
The upgrade to Bridge 4.0.2 didn't change anything, so didn't todays upgrade to Photoshop 12.0.1.
Please note that I do not use the CS Suite but upgrade Adobe Acrobat, InDesign and Photoshop individually, which used to work fine for many years. And so I have Bridge CS4 and Bridge CS5 installed side by side. At the CS4 version the Startup Scripts and Output to Web Gallery does work as expected the CS5 version of Bridge is short of both. This shouldn't happen, since I installed CS5 Photoshop over Bridge CS4.
Actually two weeks back I tied to un-install both the CS4 Bridge as well as the CS5 Photoshop, and than to just install Photoshop CS5 without InDesign with Bridge CS4 being installed. The Startup Scripts and Output to Web Gallery wasn't there either.
Do you think I can get an other Photoshop CS5 softcopy somewhere that makes my serial number as well as the output to web gallery work? This would turn me back to be a happy photoshopper that I am since version 2.5... when I switched from Cibachrome in darkroom to Photoshop on Mac now about 16 years back.
I look forward to your input.
    Bernd

  • Link to site-root relative style sheet not working CS4

I am trying to define links to site-root relative external style sheets - as I believe that IE conditional comments prevent Templates from correctly updating the links. The styles are not being applied when I use any href path begining with "/".  So, the following do not work:
    <link href="/styles/myStyleSheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    <link href="/myStyleSheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
Dreamweaver can open the css file from a right-mouse click and even give me warnings about css properties as a tool-tip as I hover over the file. The styles are applied fine with document relative paths:
    <link href="../myStyleSheet.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    Any ideas?
    Jeff

  • Referencing the script folder when launching via LNK

I have been using ".\ blah blah" to reference files stored in the same folder as the script, but I ran into a situation where this actually referenced the user's home folder, not the script folder. I then found this code, which has worked well
when launching the script directly, but when the script is launched via a shortcut it fails.
Is there a modification that can be done to this code, or another option, that will consistently identify the UNC path of the running script?
    Thanks,
    Gordon
    function Get-ScriptDirectory {
    $Invocation = (Get-Variable MyInvocation -Scope 1).Value
    if($Invocation.PSScriptRoot) {
    $Invocation.PSScriptRoot
    elseif($Invocation.MyCommand.Path) {
    Split-Path $Invocation.MyCommand.Path
    else {
    $Invocation.InvocationName.Substring(0,$Invocation.InvocationName.LastIndexOf("\"))

Interesting.  So it's not even using MyCommand.Path; it's dropping down into that last case (which I assume was written to cover PowerShell 1.0, but I'm not certain.)
Try adding this command to the function, for debugging purposes, right after the "$Invocation = ..." line:
    $Invocation |
    Format-Custom -Depth 3 -Property * -Force |
    Out-Host
That should give you a bunch of information that you can copy and paste here, so we can figure out what's going on.
Edit:  One other thing; is this Get-ScriptDirectory function in the ps1 script itself, or is it in a PSM1 module?
