  • Browser scrollbar and Flash scrollbar ? I need help!

Now I have a problem about the scrollbar:
The height of my swf file is longer than browser height, so
the scrollbar of browser's occurred, if I scroll my mouse wheel,
the whole flash roll down, but the problem is that I have used a
scrollPanel component which write by myself, and in this situation,
when I scroll the mouse wheel, the scrollbar in flash and browser
    will both in effect.
The question is that how to disable the brower scrollbar when
I scroll mouse wheel inside the scrollPanel component. In fact,
adobe already done this, if my cursor inside a textfield object,
the scrollbar of bowser will not get focus. How to achieve this
effect? My english is bad, but I need help!

i recently downloaded trails of flash cs4 and web premium package cs4 (took a day to download at high speed starbuck's internet). couldnt get the setup.exe to work or the uninstaller to work. surfing tech support over next couple weeks to try various agents was useless and expensive until i finally reached someone with useful info. all the agents had foriegn accents and read from scripts and web support pages until yesterday, when i reached a guy who told me two things i'll report to various forums addressing this same issue:
    1. download windows uninstaller program from their website (google: windows ininstaller). this program is different from the one that doesnt work in the programs and features area of control panel when you try to uninstall adobe products from there.
    2. windows explorer 8, the newest version, DOES NOT download adobe softare properly and leaves things out, causing all sorts of issues including the setup.exe program not working. download firefox browser from mozella (google: firefox) and use it for all adobe downloads. apparently the old windows explorer 7 will work, but if you already have explorer 8 installed its easiest to just use firefox.
i'm spending the next couple days downloading the 4.14 G web premium trail with firefox and will report if this works.

  • Creating a scrollbar in Flash

I am designing my first simple website with Adobe Flash, and I have run into a problem. When I do publish preview, I notice that no scrollbar appears in the browser; therefore, only part of my content is shown. How can I create a scrollbar in Flash so that when someone views my webpage they will be able to scroll down and view all of the content on the page?
    Please help!
    Thank you

Just a gentle reminder that there is no such thing as a "Flash Website". Only HTML, PHP, ASP, etc Websites that happen to have some Flash content.
It's the HTML that provides the container for " my first simple website with Adobe Flash". The Flash of and by itself is not a Website.
The Web browser parses (reads) the HTML and then displays all the content (including the Flash content) according to certain rules and instructions... like whether or not to display scrollbars on a certain part of the page. So it's not the Flash part that you go into and change, it's the HTML.
This can be done with Dreamweaver (if you have it) or a simple, free program like NotePad++:
    http://notepad-plus-plus.org/
The "Publish" settings in Flash allow you to test the Web page by automatically adding in the HTML.... which is usually overbloated code that often doesn't work... as you are finding out. So while "Publish" can create an HTML Web page (with Flash content), I don't recommend it except for testing purposes.
It's really best to use a Web page editing program (DW or NotePad++, etc.  to actually place the Flash on the page or edit the mistakes made by the Flash "Publish". Getting started with a Web page editing program will give you more display options for your Flash as well as a means to improve SEO of your Flash content. I'd recommend that eventually you migrate to using swfobject to display your Flash content on the HTML Web page:
    http://code.google.com/p/swfobject/
but get your page up and working first if you like and then study and work on implementing swfobject and "alternate" HTML content for enhanced SEO.
So open your HTML Web page in either program and view the code used to make up the page (NOT the visual display of the page). Look up in the document <head>(the top part of the document code) for the line:
    overflow: hidden;
    change that to
    overflow: auto;
Then SAVE the edited HTML file.
If you still have problems finding the offending line, post a link and someone here would be glad to show you.
    Best wishes,

  • How to turn off scrollbars in Flash chart legend

I recently migrated an Apex 3 app over to Apex 4. In the process I upgraded all of the Flash charts as well. Now, I get vertical scrollbars in some of the legends.
How can I turn those scrollbars off? I don't see any settings in the UI and I haven't been able to work out the proper arguments in the XML to do it manually.
    Thanks for any pointers!

  • Modification needed in scrollbar in flash 8 file

i am a newbie flash designer. a client has asked me to make modifications in a flash file used on his website. it is flash 8 actionscript. i am currently working on the same and would appreciate your help. the client has given me 'proprietorytools.swf' file which i decompiled using sothink decompiler 4.5 build 90120 to '~proprierarytools original.fla'. the xml folder resides in the same folder as ~proprierarytools original.fla. it contains proprierarytools.xml. you can download these files at http://rapidshare.com/files/252995106/scrollbar_questions.zip
i discovered a problem - if you view 'proprietorytools.swf' - when you click on 'aims', you can see that the scrollbar works perfectly. when you click on advigil, you can see that the scrollbar is faulty. it starts lower than the other links scollbars and has no thumb. the entire text in the xml file is not displayed.
please help me to resolve this problem.
    my additional questions are:
has the creator of the swf file use some unique scrollbar code or is this scrollbar provided in flash itself. in this case, i can read a tutorial to understand it better.
is it possible to copy the scrollbar code from the links where it works, to advigil, where it doesnt work
is this an easy bug to resolve or is it difficult?
i have given 'scrollbar works.jpg' and 'scrollbar doesnt work.jpg' to further explain my query.
please tell me if i have explained my problem properly or further clarifications are needed.

the screenshots and all relevant files are contained in http://rapidshare.com/files/252995106/scrollbar_questions.zip, but i am attaching them to this post for your benefit.

  • Browser scrollbar for Flash movie?

The webpage for my Flash movie does not have scrollbars. On
most of the frames (I did each site page as a named frame in a
single timeline) it doesn't matter, but there is one frame where
the content stretches the full 900 px tall and you can not scroll
    down.
I'm afraid I also have complicated things because the client
said he wanted everything, the whole site, 10% bigger... so I set
the movie width and height as 110% in the HTML. (Suggestions on
    this are appreciated, too!)
I'm worried that if I somehow add scrollbars, it will want to
add a horizontal scrollbar to the bottom too.
I was wondering if I could add a Flash scrollbar (if it
worked with scrolling mice, that would be bonus) just on that page,
and have it appear exactly at the right edge of the browser window
and smartly sense how tall to be. Would I have to load it as a
separate movie? Any suggestions are ever so much appreciated!

Nevermind... I found out his Flash Player was WIN 9,0,47,0
while everyone else is WIN 9,0,124,0 . He upgraded & it is
    working.

  • Scrollbars in Flash CS5

I am a newbie at using Flash Pro 5 (TRIAL VERSION). I have no background and history with any Adobe product! I have purchased a Flash template and had to do very little editing. Basically I have just had to move a few things around and delete some others. My problem is when I publish my Fla and Html files I have NO scrollbars to resize the browser. I hope it is simple because I only have a week left on my trial period.
    My wesite is http://geekrescuesquad.com
    Thanks so much.

There may or may not be an option in the Publish Settings... to change whether scroll bars appear in the HTML Browser view of your Flash file.
Even still you have a simple option.
Open your published HTML file in a text editor (NOT MS Word, but something like Notepad or WordPad, preferably notepad--on a Mac use BBEdit).
find the parameter in your CSS that states "overflow: auto" or "overflow: hidden" and change it to "overflow: scroll"

  • Scrollbars in Flash CS5.5

I published a Flash file with the html wrapper.
    Flash publish settings-
    Size - %
    Height- 100%
    Width 100%
    Scale- No scale
    HTML alignment- Default
    Flash horizontal alignment- Center
    Flash vertical alignment- Center
All good but there are no scroll bars on the browser when I make the browser window smaller? Search took me to this thread-
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3557607
The solution there is "find the parameter in your CSS that states "overflow: auto" or "overflow: hidden" and change it to "overflow: scroll"
I did that and now I see a white scroll track in the browser but no actual scroll bar? LOL What do you think is going on? How do I solve this problem?
    Thanks
    This is the page code-

Here is a test link. HTML generated by FLASH CS5.5.
I opened it in Notepad and changed overflow to visible from hidden. Scaling the browser window down does not result in appearance of any working scrollebar.

  • Scrolling only flash Scroll bar not a browser

When i scroll the scrollBar in Flash the browser is scrolling too. What i need is to stop scrolling the browser and scroll only the flash box. And the Browser have to scroll only then when the flash scrollbar is in end.
Is there a solution  for that?

the default behavior of textfields is, if they have focus, they will scroll with the mouse wheel until they have no more lines to scroll and, only then does the browser page containing the swf scroll.
    attached is a sample file.

  • Need help getting scrollbar from design to code

i would like to just do it with out making the whole gallery a swf file.
so in the most simplest terms i would like a custom designed scrollbar on the left side of my gallery div
here is what i have uploaded to my test file on the back end of the quick version of his site http://http://resettheus.com/Test/Big_Gov.html

    <div class=player_gallery>
         <div class=gallery_header>Video Galler</div>
         <div style="width:24px; height:415px;">   was hoping to put the scrollbar (B) here    </div>
         <div style="width:226px: height:auto;">
                   <a href="http://www.youtube.com/embed/o5gEceNyp0M" target="player">
                   <img src="Images/Markets-Exploitation-or-Empowerment.jpg" width="82px" height="50px"/>
                   <p>Markets Exploitation or Empowerment</p></a>

  • Scrollbar issue

    Hi,
I'm not familiar at all with Flash, so please bare with me, I'm a complete newbie. I bought a scrollbar from flashcomponents.net and I'm having some problems with. I can add text in the text area of the scroller and it works all fine, but when I insert a link in there the text area's height is increased for some strange reason, as you can see on the link below (scroll to the bottom of the list and you'll see what I mean):
    http://www.jbfans.com/filmography/index.php
I can fix this if I go into Debug -> Debug Movie and enter the correct value for the height of the text area, but when I end the debug session it hasn't implemented the change I made.
Do anyone know why this is happening?

So I'm back with another issue...
    http://www.jbfans.com/filmography/culpeppercattleco/index.php
If you click on VIEW TRAILER, you will see my problem. So, the scrollbar is Flash and the trailer window is a javascript called clearbox, and they are interfering with each other, BIG TIME. Being the newbie that I am, I ask you guys - what's causing this interference?

  • Embed PDF in Captivate

I am connecting a PDF to a click box. However, I would like
the PDF to open within the Captivate movie. How can I accomplish
    this?

    Hi Guys!
The key to the question in the first post seems to be "from
within the Captivate movie ... and with that in mind, Rick is
absolutely correct as usual ... in a nutshell, it can't be done by
Captivate alone, as imports of PDF are not supported. With that in
mind - and as Rick suggested - if you are a Flash guru, by all
means create your own solution in Flash.
But I'm wondering is you have given any thought to
"Flash Paper". "Paper" can convert nearly any document type
to SWF, and the output inserts very nicely into Captivate complete
with its' own toolbars and scrollbars. Flash Paper is one of my
favorite "toys", as you might have guessed.
Although PDFs don't convert directly to SWF with "Paper", if
you have Adobe Acrobat Professional, you can open your PDF with
that, then output it to - for instance - a *.DOC file which in turn
converts to Flash Paper easily from within MS "Word".
    HTH ...
    here is a link to
the URL for info on Flash Paper

  • Flash page scrollbar.

    Pleeeeeeaaaaaaseeeeeee Help!
I have a flash movie which is taller than the browser window,
but rather than it being scrolled by the browsers default scrollbar
I want to create a scrollbar swf file which will control the
scrolling of the movie within the movie.
How can I achieve this? does anyone know of any downloadable
examples or online tutorials which could help me achieve this?
To better explain/demonstrate what I wish to achieve please
    visit :
    http://www.hellohikimori.com
You will see they've created a scollbar swf in which thier
flash movie/website is then loaded into - allowing it to be
scolled. This is what I wish to achieve with my site.
    Please help.
    Regards,
    Peter.

    Thank You,
I have read the following paragraphs in the help file but
being a novice I am still a little confused. Is thier an online
sample/example which I could modify / adapt to suit and learn from.
    Kind Regards,
    Peter

  • Flash Site ScrollBars

    Hi,
I am looking to have full page flash site scroll bars. Please
let me know if anyone knows.
    Example site:-
    http://www.rareview.com/#contact
    Thanks
    Mohan

First off, the example you posted was likely built in Flex.
That is the route to go to easily get those full-page flash
    scrollbars.
They likely dropped a Flex canvas on the page, made it
stretch to fill 100%. Then added the content to the canvas. In
Flex, if the content gets bigger than the canvas size, it
    automatically scrolls.
Then, when they finished the swf, they made the SWF fill the
browser screen by making its width and height in the HTML 100%.
They also did a couple of other tweaks to make sure that it would
actually fill the browser (got rid of padding and margins). It also
looks like they have a JavaScript to get a mac mouse wheel to
    scroll the flash.
Do a view source on the page you linked to find the code that
I am referencing if you don't know how to do any of these
    things.

  • Im scrolling a div with a flash scrollbar and it works, almost

I have successfully created a flash scrollbar that controls a
div on my page as opposed to using the standard scrollbar or
coloring the standard scrollbar which only works in IE. All I am
    doing is calling "getURL("javascript:jumptoPercent(percent);")
from my flash movie and it scrolls beautifully using that
function I made. I even put in mousewheel support. But there a few
shortcoming so far, and I was hoping someone would have a pointer
    or two.
    1. The mousewheel doesn't work in firefox, only in IE (havent
tested other browsers yet). Anybody know how to add firefox support
    in?
    2. The mousewheel only works when the mouse is over the
scrollbar itself. I would love for it to work when the user is over
the div being scrolled as well. I tried giving focus to the
scrollbar when the user mouses over the div with
    onMouseOver="window.document.scrollbarSWF.focus();" , but it
    doesn't seem to help.
    3. If the user is dragging the scroller and the user leaves
the movie area, the movie loses focus and the scrollbar stops (I
dont know that there is much that can be done here). Is there
anyway for the movie to continue tracking the mouse (the drag
tracking) if the user leaves the movie area so it will function as
    a normal scrollbar would?
Thanks for any advice on this.
    Jon

    Interesting....
    1) I've not had a problem where the mousewheel doesn't work
in FireFox, but it doesn't work on the Mac in general.
2-3) There's no convenient way around this. Something crazy
you could consider doing is to use Flash 8 and ExternalInterface.
Basically, you could use JavaScript to do all the listening for
mousewheel actions, then report them to Flash via
ExternalInterface. But it might be easier and safer to just put the
whole content area in Flash, or leave it as a normal HTML/Browser
scrollbar, as ugly as they are.
