ScrollPane - Changing various colors and appearance

I am trying to change the color layout of my ScrollPane boxes.  My website (removed) has a clean, white background.  The default white and light grey color of the standard ScrollPane scheme blends in too much.  I would like to change the color of the vertical scrollbar so that it stands out more.  Also, maybe have the background of the text box a light blue hue with black lettering to give it some "pop" also.
I am running Flash CS5 in AS 2.  I have read on another website to do the following in ActionScript:
ScrollPane.setStyle("themeColor", "haloOrange")
ScrollPane.setStyle("borderStyle", "none")
ScrollPane.setStyle("scrollTrackColor", 0CC333)
ScrollPane.setStyle("symbolColor", FF00FF)
ScrollPane.setStyle("symbolDisabledColor", FFFF00)
This did not work.
Look at the bottom of the website for "Terms - Credits - Policies".  On this page there are three scrollPanes.  This is where I want to create these colorful ScrollPanes.  Please help.  If you want me to send you screenshots, I can do that, but looking at the live website might be all you need.  By the way, I am a novice in ActionScripting.  Thanks.  djm

Thank you.  We are one step closer....
Here is what I have done with its results.
I removed the action scripting in the ScrollPane page noted in previous replies.  I left in your original step of "backgroundColor".  This is the only step that works.  I altered the "ThemeColor" from "haloBlue" to "haloOrange" to see if the buttons change, and they do.  So that is a good thing.  I then removed the scripting altogether because they are not the corect color selections for my website.
Now, I followed your suggestions found on both links noted above.  There must be something I am missing.
I opened the HaloTheme.FLA file and FLASH opened it in a separate window.  From that window, I located "VScrollBarAssets" movie clip.  I dragged that movie clip into my document's library.  FLASH created a new folder with the following format:
      Flash UI Components 2 >  Themes > MMDefault > Scrollbar Assets
In the last folder, VScrollBarAssets Movie Clip exists with "States" and "Elements" folders.
I am able to change the colors in "VScrollBarAssets", but when I test the movie (either by Publishing (F12) or selecting "Control -Test Movie"), there is no change in the tested version.
I do the same by changing the colors of  "ScrollThemeColor1" and "ScrollThemeColor2" in Elements folder.  Still no change when tested.
I made the color choices a brown color to make it obvious.  The default light blue and grey colors remain.  What am I missing?  THANKS!!  djm

    Change Finder Colours and Appearance.
    Hi! I was just wondering if anybody knows how to change the appearance [specifically the colours of background and text] of the finder?
    Either natively or through some kind of plugin or extension or tweak?
    I personally am finding black-text-on-bright-white very jarring and straining on my eyes during long periods of file organization.
    Through other applications, I have lately found that having neutral-coloured text on black background is VERY easy on my eyes, to read, for long periods.
    I first found this out by happy-accident in adobe reader, which has the option to switch background and text colours to your preference for reading. Then I found a great google chrome extension called "Change Colors" which allows you to pick the background and text colour on every page.
    I have found these to be a huge cure for eye-strain for me, for things which require me to read and concentrate on them.
    If I could do this with finder too, I would be very happy.
    I think there must be a solution. Even TERMINAL allows one to change colours of text+bg.
    I have done some googling around, but no solution is apparent to me.
    Thank you very much in advance for any help, I appreciate it.
    And happy holidays, if you are lucky enough to have a holiday

    Thanks Barney. I do see your point, really.
    But then again, would it really be a massive coding / graphical leap to have this as an option on the finder?
    While I am a simpleton / no-nothing person in terms of designing computer applications ;
    I imagine it's not a video-game proportion exercise in interactive graphical engineering,
    to add the option to be able to select your own colours on the finder?
    I would personally have a black background with a neutral coloured green for the text.
    For me, this option is a big eye-strain saver with other applications, as I mentioned above.
    I'd love to see this become available with the finder, and I'm sure many other people would too.
    I've seen various requests for this on the finder, and even on the Windows 7 forums regarding the windows file-explorer.

  • Changing hyperlink color and format in numbers 3

    Hi all!
    I want to change the automated color (and format: underline etc.) that is assigned to hyperlinks.
    In my file I use vlookup to get the email and webadresses from a different source table. In the source table, I've tried disabling the hyperlinks and give different colors. In the destination table (different sheet), it keeps reformatting the @'s and www to hyperlinks. Smart link substitutions are off..
    Manually changing the text color in the destination cell doesn't work, probably because of the vlookup formula?
    hope you guys can help me out, thnx in advance!

    Hi Eliakim,
    Turning off Smart Link Substitutions does not 'kill' existing active hyperlinks. It prevents the automatic conversion of an address that is subsequently typed or pasted.
    I pasted an active hyperlink into a Numbers cell, and it remained active even though Smart Link Substitutions was off.
    When I did Menu > Edit > Paste And Match Style the hyperlink was not active.
    Try this. In your source table, select and copy the hyperlinks. While they are still selected, Paste And Match Style. They will still appear to be hyperlinks (blue text underlined) but will be inactive (I assume that is what you want).
    See what that does to the text inserted by vlookup in your destination table.
    Regards,
    Ian.

    One more step I didn't mention. After making your freehand drawing, you need to click Save (upper right) to let Reader know you're finished drawing. Then click on it, and the contextual menu will look like this:

  • Thunderbird changing existing color, and occasionally font, from original messages in replies

    Hello,
    Thunderbird keeps consistently changing text color (always) and font (sometimes, intermittently) when I reply to a message. I hope the attached images will make clear what I mean.
    I have many e-mail exchanges where individuals involved use both font and color to make it instantly possible to distinguish who said what, and often in what order, based upon the font being specific to the individual and the color specific to the response given.
    You will see in the attached screen shots that the original message contained two different fonts in dark blue colors. When I hit "Reply" the compose window switches all the text from the old messages to black. In this case it wouldn't matter much, but it can be very disorienting when you have an e-mail exchange going on that's got more participants all of whom use signature fonts and change either the font and/or color as the conversation progresses. Having everything "go black" removes essential context.
    I also find it odd that when you place your cursor in the middle of existing text and open up a new line to insert your own material that the new material always mimics the last font that was in the material you've just "split open" to add your own reply. In virtually every other e-mail editor I've used when you place yourself in existing text and split it apart by hitting a return the opened area typically would use the font and font color you currently have specified in the compose window.
    If there are settings I need to tweak to:
    1. Force Thunderbird to maintain all existing fonts and font colors when replying to an existing e-mail message,
    2. Get Thunderbird to use the font and font color I have chosen in the compose window any time I split existing quoted material to add new material,
    I'd love to know what those settings are.

    Matt,
    I decided to do some experimentation with creating multiple messages and replies strictly within Gmail's web interface and then to reply to same from Thunderbird. After that, I attempted to start the same sort of chain strictly using Thunderbird to create the messages. The difference is pretty stark.
    The first attachment is how the multiple fonts and colors that originated from Gmail show in Thunderbird's reading window. They are all correct here.
    The second shows how the multiple fonts and colors that originated from Gmail show up when I reply from within Thunderbird. Again, all of those fonts and colors are maintained as sent and the font and color I designated in my Thunderbird options are what get used when composing the reply.
    The last shows what happens when I sent a message created in Thunderbird with one font and color and then go to reply to it from within Thunderbird after having switched my default font and color choice for composition intentionally prior to replying. The font from the original message is retained in the reply, but the color is converted to what has been selected for composition. This suggests to me that Thunderbird is not retaining color information at each "level" within a reply. It has to have sent color information in the original message because it shows up in that color on receipt when reading (I didn't bother with a screen shot, but if you want one I can get one). When replying it is stripping or overwriting the color information from the original message and using the current compose color and applying it to everything in the window.
    As far as I'm concerned, that's a bug.

  • How do i change marker color and fill in a chart

    Hi,
    In a chart in keynote - I am struggling to find a way to change the color of the marker of a data series. Also cannot seen to customize the fill and line of the marker.
    Can someone provide guidance.
    Y

    Keynote has a few ways to change colors, but markers are tricky as only the center color can be easily changed.
    Using the Chart > Inspector > Change Color option is hit or miss - sometimes you get what you want, but many times you don't.
    To change the color of a series line perhaps the easiest way is to click on the chart series (line, wedge, column, etc.) so that it is selected then click on the Color Picker Tool on the Tool Bar, select the color in the color array, (gamut, crayons, etc). you wish for the series and then drag that color from the Color Picker Well onto the series line.
    Note: Changing the color of the Data Symbol (triangle, circle, square, etc.) seems to defy all attempts to change the color of the actual Symbol, but you can change the color of the inner dot fairly easily using the methods described here.
    There is a  useful Video Tutorial that shows how this is done:
    http://www.apple.com/science/productivitylab/#researchpresentations
    Note: the tutorial was prepared for Leopard, but the methods still apply - look around 1:30 (1 minute 30 secs) through about 2:30 for details. Watch the whole video - it's interesting.
    Good Luck.

  • Working with Edge Animate, how do you change layer colors and and names of layers?

    For many years, I have worked with Adobe Photoshop, and the ability to change layer color or the name of layers is quite easy. I have been reading around about how to do this with Edge, but, can't find any information on how I might be able to do this. Can you help?
    Thank you!

    Hi Darrell,
    Thank you for your answer. When I double click on the layer name, it opens for a second, then closes. I have tried to close the app, shut down my workstation, throw out the preferences, and, nothing seems to work. Am I doing something wrong?
    Thank you, again, for your timly answer. Really appreciate your help.

  • TS3999 ios7 iCloud Calendar changed calendar color and won't let me select a different color.

    I updated my iphone 4s to ios7 without issue, then I got my iphone 5s and restored from my 4s' backup. Everything worked smoothly and great, except that one of my calendars had their color changed (from orange to purple).  Now I already have a purple calendar, which is why this is problem.  I have attempted to change my calendar color several time, and I get no error and it look like it works great but a few seconds later it changes itself back to purple.  Not the most critical bug, but very annoying.  I have attempted to change the color both on my phone and on icould.com, but neither work.

    Quit iCal.
    Drag the folder ~/Library/Application Support/iCal to the desktop.
    Delete the iCal preference files (again).
    Delete folder ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices.
    Restart iCal.
    Verify that you can add and modify calendars.
    If you can, open the Sources folder in iCal folder that you put on the desktop. There will be one folder in it for each of your former calendars. Open each in turn and drop the corestorage.ics file onto the iCal icon. This should import your former calendars.

  • How to Block Themes, Wallpapers and other Display Customizations (DPI, Scaling, Window Color and Appearance) with USMT 5.0?

    I generated a config.xml called nothemeuiconfig.xml and changed this:
    <component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-themeui" migrate="yes" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-themeui/microsoft-windows-themeui/settings"/>
    To this:
    <component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-themeui" migrate="no" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-themeui/microsoft-windows-themeui/settings"/>
    But themes, wallpapers - everything - still come over.
    Opened a case with Microsoft, sent them:
    the XML's I'm using
    the command I used to generate the config.xml
    the command I used for scanstate
    the log files generated by scanstate
    the command I used for loadstate
    the log files generated by loadstate
    Summary result of the MS case:
    After much review & scrutiny, the command line and XML files are syntactically correct and rules are sound.
    The articles I referenced in the ticket are indeed old and speak of an older version of USMT, so I can accept the possibility that something may have changed between USMT versions that render those suggested rules & instructions invalid.
    Despite using
    unconditionalExclude to unconditionally globally exclude objects, something else is trumping that rule, and there’s no way around that.
    Even using
    MigXmlHelper.DestinationPrioity() won’t help us here because, like above, something else trumps that rule, and there’s no way around that.
    The last proposed suggestion is to disable the shmig component, which may or may not break or otherwise adversely affect the backup/restore of other things.  (This may be too difficult to detect easily or in initial testing and the uncertainty doesn’t
    give us confidence problems won’t arise as a result of this change.  Also,
    Ned Pyle's post post says NOT to, but then again that's an old post.)
    Is this no longer possible or am I'm just doing it wrong?

    Thanks for the reply
    TimAmico!
    I saw your responses on Friday & Saturday, but didn't reply because I wanted to think this over a bit and try to get a second opinion.
    The 'Appearance and Display' component looks to have a has a number of sub-components.
    <component displayname="Appearance and Display" migrate="yes" ID="appearance_and_display">
    <component displayname="Windows Games Settings" migrate="yes" ID="appearance_and_display\windows_games_settings">
    <component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-GameExplorer" migrate="yes" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-gameexplorer/microsoft-windows-gameexplorer/settings"/>

    <component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-explorer" migrate="yes" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-explorer/microsoft-windows-explorer/settings"/>
    </component>
    <component displayname="Personalized Settings" migrate="yes" ID="appearance_and_display\personalized_settings">
    <component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-uxtheme" migrate="yes" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-uxtheme/microsoft-windows-uxtheme/settings"/>
    <component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-themeui" migrate="yes" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-themeui/microsoft-windows-themeui/settings"/>
    <component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-shmig" migrate="yes" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-shmig/microsoft-windows-shmig/settings"/>
    <component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-shell32" migrate="yes" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-shell32/microsoft-windows-shell32/settings"/>
    <component displayname="Microsoft-Windows-CommandPrompt" migrate="yes" ID="http://www.microsoft.com/migration/1.0/migxmlext/cmi/microsoft-windows-commandprompt/microsoft-windows-commandprompt/settings"/>
    </component>
    </component>
    If I'm understanding the XML correctly, setting 'Appearance and Display' to 'no' will not bring over any of the sub components:
    Windows Games Settings: Microsoft-Windows-GameExplorer
    Tarkbar & Start Menu: Microsoft-Windows-stobject
    Tarkbar & Start Menu: Microsoft-Windows-explorer
    Personalized Settings: Microsoft-Windows-uxtheme
    Personalized Settings: Microsoft-Windows-themeui
    Personalized Settings: Microsoft-Windows-shmig
    Personalized Settings: Microsoft-Windows-shell32
    Personalized Settings: Microsoft-Windows-CommandPrompt
    If so, that, to me at least, represents a pretty significant change!  We want the pinned items but not the backgrounds and themes so that specific change won't work for us, but glad to hear it meets your needs.  (Also greatly appreciate your sharing
    your results with us.)
    I'll admit, even before reaching out to MS, the logs clearly show that the themes/backgrounds are all part of the 'Microsoft-Windows-shmig' component but dang it if I want something of substance (read: official documentation) that covers what exactly that
    component handles.  (I like to know what I'm potentially getting myself into.)

  • Changing the color and size of JScrollBar

    Hi everyone,
    I have a JTextArea in a JScrollPane. I want to change the default size and color of the JScrollBar that appears. Basically, I want to customize my JScrollBar.
    Is there any method to do it or do I have to write my own JScrollPane that would show the JScrollBar I want ???
    Please , help me out.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Ramesh

    The following code shows how to change several aspects of scrollbars.
    Note the loop that prints out all the values that can be modified with simply puts to the UIDefaults table for scrollbars. The String "ScrollBars " can be changed to many other swing component names (minus the 'J') to examine their key/value pairs
