• Abnormal increase in the oracle data base of XI dev

Hi Experts,
The size of the oracle data base for SAP-XI is increased by 9% abnormally in 1 day, where as 1% increase in the oracle data base size normally takes 1 to 2 weeks.
What could be the problem? Please give me some links or some idea how to check to know what causes this problem.
Thnx
Subbu

Hi Rama
You should look out for big tables. You can do this in transaction DB02 -> Detailed Analysis -> Size / Kbyte > 100000
This will give you all segments larger than 100mb. In an XI system the messages are stored in table XI_AF_MSG. It is also possible that your largest segment is a lob segment. You will then see something like SYS_LOB0000039303C00020$$.
To see which table it is just use this SQL:
SQL> select table_name from dba_lobs where SEGMENT_NAME = 'SYS_LOB0000039303C00020$$';
TABLE_NAME
XI_AF_MSG
In DB02 you can also select the segment and view its history to make sure it is responsible for the database growth.
Best regards, Michael

• How to access Oracle Data Base on Unix using Visual Basic ?

Hi !
I want to use visual basic and access the Oracle Data Base on Unix server. How can i do that ? Do i need any software?
.Prashant

You need an oracle client installation and setup your TNS names.

• Is there is any way to find the data transfer from client to Configuration Manager for health monitoring and hardware Inventory

Hi
Can Configuration Manager provide a way to find the data transfer from client to Configuration Manager for health monitoring and hardware Inventory. How can I know what amount of data is consumed during that process

Place archive_reports.sms in %systemroot%\ccm\inventory\temp\ for both 64-bit and 32-bit computers.
There are two situations where you can use this depending on the type of client:
1. To keep inventory reports on a client (that is not an MP), create the following file:
%systemroot%\ccm\inventory\temp\archive_reports.sms
2. To keep inventory reports on a MP (that is also a client), create the following file:
<x>:\sms_ccm\inventory\temp\archive_reports.sms
The XML file will be saved in the inventory\temp folder.
More information on the above here: http://blogs.technet.com/b/configurationmgr/archive/2012/09/17/controlling-configuration-manager-2012-using-hidden-files.aspx

• Where are the Oracle Data Binding Frameworks for Oracle Objects?

Oracle offers a few different options for data-binding frameworks to Oracle relational data. Amongst them they include TopLink and the Oracle Application Development Framework (ADF)in JDeveloper 10G. J2EE also offers the EJB standard framework. Both of the Oracle data-binding frameworks appear to work well with relational data but fail misserably when one tries to work with a fully fledged Oracle Object-Relational schema. I have spend much time with ADF but have not been able to create successful bindings to Objects with nested complex objects (such as a 2-level nested object) or objects containing nested tables. TopLink will not even touch Object tables.
Have other people being more successful with this? Do we have to implement our own data binding framework? Does Oracle plan on improving these frameworks to fully support Oracle Objects?

TopLink Runtime supports both fully fledged OX mappings and nested complex objects. These mappings can be setup in the code.
TopLink ADF design time however currently does not have support for OX mappings.
Hope this helps,

• From where to download the The Oracle Data Mining sample programs for DB11g

In the Administrator's Guide to Oracle Data Mining 11g. One of the steps is to install the the Oracle Data Mining sample programs, which, according to the author, is included in the Oracle Database Companion. The author did not specify from where to download neither the sample programs nor the database companion CD/DVD!
I would be grateful if you could provide me with the URL that has the required download.
Regards,

You should be able to download ODM DB11g sample programs from the following OTN link:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle11g/111060_win32soft.html
Choose 'Oracle Database 11g Examples (formerly Companion)'

Could anybody look into this issue.
Many thanks

• BAPI Error: No schedule lines due for delivery up to the selected date

Hi,
I have created a program to create delivery orders with reference to sales orders using BAPI - BAPI_OUTB_DELIVERY_CREATE_SLS.
After execution I get the error: No schedule lines due for delivery up to the selected date
Please help.
Thanks in advance!!!
Regards,
Sriram

hi,
this is to inform you that,
please check the schedule line date in the sales order because the date is not matching here for the BAPI to upload.
here,  for example the schedule line is 4 days after and you are running BAPI today. that will mismatch no.
the same thing is happening in uploading case also.
so please check the date.
because in teh sales order if teh schedule line date is today it will accept the uploading with out throwing any errors.
regards,
balajia

• Entity Framework -  unable to select the oracle data connection

Entity Framework - unable to select the oracle data connection from the wizard that allows you to select the data provider. Even though we successfully added a data connection that points to an oracle database, we still can't select an existing data connection or create a new database provider that points to an oracle instance.
we are using both vs 2008 sp1 and vs 2010. We connect to oracle 11g and we use the latest oracle odp.net driver. the Driver is installed and working in vs studio.

I had this exact problem when I started. I think I had downloaded the wrong odbc (the 64x version). When I unloaded that version and downloaded the 32bit version it worked.
Hope that helps. ~ Darla

If you are referring to the 10.1 release of the ODM user interface, that should be available in beta form very shortly(a couple weeks) with the final release very soon after that.

• Maintaining the structure of a SQL Server staging area and dwh aligned with the Oracle data source

Hi,
I'm working in a context where the data source system, in Oracle, is a continuos work in progress. Each 1-2-3 weeks the data source system in the prod environment is updated with new tables or updated table (with new columns or altered columns). So, it is
important to apply in a rapid manner the related changes in the data structure of the SQL Server staging area and dwh.
The issues to solve are:
a. maintaining SQL Server data structure of the staging area aligned with the data structure of the Oracle data source;
b. maintaing SQL Server data structure of the staging area aligned with the data structure of the SQL Server staging area.
In order to solve these issues it could be useful to think to an authomatic manner to alert when a data structure change occurs and a simple manner to apply the changes on SQL Server data structure.
Any suggests, please? Many thanks

We use Oracle CDC service in SQLServer. It has a flag to indicate the schema changes happening at the Oracle end. We track the schema changes using it and then apply changes to sqlserver side. And regarding automation you can use Biml as suggested or .NET
scripts inside script task.
