Hi,
We are performing the sizing required to migrate our BW system to HANA and in this regard when we executed the report
/sdf/hana_bw_sizing it displayed :
1. ABAP size Row store
2. ABAP size Column store
What does the word ' ABAP' in the above means ? Does this means that the normal database size of table/ tables are different from ABAP size of table ? or it is the same as the size of tables on database ?

yes, they are different. See SAP note 1736976, the attachment SAP_BW_on_HANA_Sizing_V2.pdf for more details.
The sizing report reads a sample set of records from the DB, analyzes the sample size in its ABAP representation, and extrapolates the total size of the table if it was entirely loaded into ABAP memory, using the total row count information of the DB. By looking at the ABAP representation, the impact of DB specific features like intrinsic compression or special data formats on sizing is automatically eliminated, and the report can estimate the size of the table in ABAP by applying a suitable compression factor. In the output of the report you can find the ABAP size of tables along with the estimated HANA size. Due to the different representation of data in ABAP and the underlying DB system, the DB table sizes may significantly differ from the ABAP sizes.

Declare this statement after the Report Statement in the program.
TABLES : SKA1, SKB1.

Inserting data to a . SDF database (SQL Server Compact Edition connection)

I'm working on a project that worked fine while connecting to SQL Server 2008. I used a connection string like this:
Driver={SQL Server Native Client 10.0};Server=myServerAddress;Database=myDataBase;Uid=myUsername;Pwd=myPassword;
Now, I've replaced all database connections in my project to work with SQL Server Compact Edition, and my connection string is something like this:
Provider=Microsoft.SQLSERVER.CE.OLEDB.3.5;Data Source=myDir\myDataBase.sdf;
After changing the type of connection, I'm getting an error on "DB Tools Insert Data.vi". This is what I get:
Error -2147217872 occurred at NI_Database_API.lvlib:Cmd Execute.vi->NI_Database_API.lvlib: DB Tools Insert Data.vi->Main.vi
Possible reason(s):ADO Error: 0x80040E30 Exception occured in Microsoft SQL Server Compact OLE DB Provider: The given type name was unrecognized. [,,,,,] in NI_Database_API.lvlib:Rec Create - Command.vi->NI_Database_API.lvlib:Cmd Execute.vi->NI_Database_API.lvlib: DB Tools Insert Data.vi->Main.vi

I worked around this problem by using directly a SQL query instead of this function (you were right, using DBTools Execute Query VI). But now I'm getting problems with other functions, when inserting data into the DB including NULL values.
I make a SQL query like this using DBTools Execute Query VI:
INSERT INTO Table1 (Column1, Column2, Column3, Column4, Column5, Column6) VALUES ('Value1', 'Value2', 'Value3', 'NULL', 'Value5', 'Value6')
and get the following error:
ADO Error: 0x80040E07Exception occured in Microsoft SQL Server Compact OLE DB Provider: A literal value in the command could not be converted to the correct type due to a reason other than data overflow. [,,,,,] in NI_Database_API.lvlib:Conn Execute.vi->INSERT (new) restricción (DBCT).vi->Restricciones a Base de Datos (DBCT).vi->Definir - editar restricciones.vi->Main.vi
The same SQL query worked perfectly when using the SQL Server 2008 connection, so it's not a database structure issue.
Could somebody please help me?

Function Module to get central instance - /SDF/INSTANCE_INFO

Hi All
Inside an abap program it is necessary to create a job. This job must run at the central instance with high priority.
I am going to use the FM /sdf/instance_info to obtain the central instance and export it at the targetserver parameter of the function JOB_CLOSE.
At the FM JOB_OPEN I will export 'A' to the parameter job_class.
My question:
- This function /SDF/INSTANCE_INFO may somehow cause damage to the production environment?
- Submitting a job with class 'A' may harm the production environment?

Hi,
The FM only reads the central instance, it wont update anything so you can use the FM.
A-High priority, the system reserves at least one separate background work process for your job. Class A jobs are always processed before jobs of other classes.
If your job is a critical job then use this class otherwise use default class C.

First, you have to create a "Return order (RE)"in t.code VA01, specify an "Order reason" and save it.
Return order can be created either with reference to the Sales order or Billing document.
It can also be created without any reference also.
If you want to replace with fresh goods, then create an order "Subsequent Delivery free-of-chrge (SDF) with reference to the "Return order (RE)", just created.
SDF contains a Delivery block. Remove the block in VA02 and create a Delivery from this SDF, but Billing is not relevant for it (check billing relevance field in Item category KLN/KLX).
Remember, SDF is always created with reference to the Return order(RE) .
SDF can be created before the Return Delivery as well as after the Return Delivery is created.

Example:-
Order(10 Qty)->Delivery(10 Qty)->Billing(10 Qty)->Excise invoice(10 Qty)->Return Order(2 Qty)->Return Delivery(2 Qty)->
SDF(2 Qty)->SDF Delivery(2 Qty)-> Excise invoice(?????)
Since Customer has already paid Excise for 10 Qty,Again for SDF do we need to create Excise invoice???

If possible define one Discount condition type which will be manual. Make its calculation type as %. And in SDF maintain the same with 100 % dis. so that even if net value comes not equal to zero, because of this manual dis. cond. type net value will become as zero
where i have to maintain this cond type. i.e after price or after which cond type.
As u suggested it is manual process..
Can we do it automatically to make the net price zero
If you are creating Proforma Invoice, then create SDF wrt this Proforma Invoice instead of Original Sales order so that system will automatically copy zero value from Proforma Invoice to SDF.

SDF files are used by Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition. SQL CE is not supported for Windows Store Apps/Universal Apps. Only WP Silverlight Apps can use SQL CE. You will have to switch to a different database format.
As far as I know the only DB currently supported for local deployment with Windows Store Apps is SQLite.

what is the relevant pbs logical database for the sap logical database 'sdf' ?
In one of requirement, the custom report using logical database 'sdf' required to access the archived data.
kindly reply ASAP since it's an urgent requirement.

User exit for logical databse SDF

Hi,
I got 2 requirements for tcode FBL3N as below. My problem now is on 2nd requirement.
1. for the output listing - to display the vendor code and name 1 and name 2
we have afew types of vendors; alternate payee, vendor on behalf, one off vendor, cross company vendor etc.
To extract the vendor details, I did some coding in FM ZFI_INTERFACE_00001650 and attach to the BTE
for this, I have added 3 fields in structure RFPOS and RFPOSX; lifnr, name1 and name2
the result: everything is ok and the output has been accepted by user althought got incorrect data when come to multiple vendor in 1 document. the FM will only select the 1st vendor in the document
2. for the selection screen - to add vendor code
we agreed to add in the dynamic selection and for this, I have changed the SDF logical database
i have added field lifnr in structure FAGLFREESEL and has added statement -> tables: FAGLFREESEL in the FBL3N program (based on SNote). At first i plan to copy the FBL3N to Z program, but my user dont want alot of Z program and Z tcode being created
after run the FBL3N, the vendor field appear in the dynamic selection
the problem is: the output is not based on the selected vendor. seems like the program is ignoring the vendor field.
I believe I need to put some selection coding somewhere in the logical database to also check on the additional field (lifnr) but no idea on that. and of course my selection for the vendor must be same as what I did in FM ZFI_INTERFACE_00001650 (1st requirement) since we have alot of vendor types.
somebody please advice or give some idea on how do I proceed with the 2nd requirement.

I don't think it's hard if understood the question properly you can try this I do it most of the time and this might be the solution for you, sometimes minor simple click is a life saver:)
1.
Open SQL Server Management Studio, or if it's running select File -> Connect Object Explorer... and click the
connect drop down arrow
2.
In the Connect to Server dialog you will see Database Enghine, Analaysis Servie on so on and you go head change Server type to
SQL Server Compact Edition
3.
From the Database file drop-down as shown below click the drop down arrow and select <
Browse for more...>
4.
And you will see C:\, D:\, G:\
drive and so on and open, your SDF file where it is located

2. Try to create SDF/KN based on Return oder, but line item is not copied.

Check the copying control betwee these orders in VTLA, and check the item category is maintained in the copying control.

I am getting ABAP runtime error GETWA_NOT_ASSIGNED_RANGE every 10 minutes in my ECC Production system. This dump is occurring for program /SDF/CL_EM_DUMP_COLLECTOR=====CP with short text as "Field symbol is not assigned".
Error Analysis:
"A field symbol that was not assigned was accessed
(data segment no. "-1").
The field symbol is no longer assigned because there was an attempt
makde previously in a Unicode program to set the field symbol using
ASSIGN with offset and/or length specification. Here, the memory
addressed by the offset/length specification was not within the

What process or transaction you are executing, when you got this dump, please share the detail.
In SAP there so many areas where we can have this ABAP dump, please also share the snap shot in ST22 " How to Correct" part of dump which carries the exact program name e.g. in below snapshot program name, short text, etc is given to search SAP note.
Please also refer to the following sap notes:

Is this the right thing to do, or is there any freeware or better way to do this?

There are thrid party products that could do the load for you, but I think you would have to pay for them.
Regardsing sqlldr documentation, the spatial users guide has some examples of control files in Chapter 3 (Loading and Indexing).
There are no directly applicable examples in the sqlldr documentation, although it would be nice to have the utilities guide for this type of effort. I'm not sure where you can download it from.
