SDK 2007 on SAP B1 2005 Company Database

Hi Guys,
Does anybody know how or could we use the library of SDK 2007 (SAPbobsCOM2007.dll) on company that still running SAP B1 2005 SP1 ??
Currently in my system has installed :
1. SAP B1 Server 2005
2. SAP B1 Client 2005
3. SAP B1 SDK 2005
4. SAP B1 DI API 2005
I'd try to do it by un-install the old version one (SDK 2005 & DI API 2005), and replacing it by install the new version (SDK 2007 & DI API 2007), and now I had DI API 2004, DI API 2005 and DI API 2007 in my DI API folder.
So in my previous add-on (that has been running in SDK 2005), I delete the COM reference for SAPBobsCOM.dll as it was 2005 one. Then I add the new COM reference, and I run it. When it's come to syntax :
oCompany.Connect(),
my application just terminated / end without any exception or error (though I already try..catch).
When I try to replace the COM reference to the older one, it works perfectly.
Anybody has experienced it ? Or it couldn't be done ?

maybe the SAP said that it should work - but the point is that you have to be aware that you use the objects and methods in the way of 2005 - and this is the hardest part.
with UIAPI you will have no problems but with DIAPI i see the problems coming

Our Database is in SQL Server 2005. Its Size reaches 6 GB in less then two years periods.
Can Any body guide me to reduce the size or how to maintain database. Can we split Database in SAP B1 ?

Hi Chintesh,
I would advise caution doing any of the things suggested in SAP Note 548772. In particular, I strongly recommend you do NOT set auto-shrink on. This is a really bad idea on a production database and I can't understand why SAP would suggest it.
Is it the data file that is 6GB or the overall size of the database (ie data and log files)? If your log file is large then this can slow performance. I recommend setting up transaction log backups on an hourly basis. This is good practice and not only keeps the log file healthy but also gives you the option to recover your data to the last transaction log backup in the case of an emergency. If you don't want transaction log backups then do as the SAP note mentions and set the recovery model to simple and do a once-off truncation of the log file.
Are you doing regular maintenance on the database (ie rebuilding indexes, updating statistics)? Are you monitoring fragmentation on the data drive and doing a defrag occasionally to keep the drive healthy?

The documentation you request is in the SDK's chm help file (that comes with the SDK itself).

How to work on SDK with SAP B1 2005

1. i need some details related to SDK. what are the tools needed for working on SDK with SAP B1 2005,
2. how to get the "microsoft visual studio" for writing code for sdk.is there any seperate tool available with SDK for that or we have to use the general " microsoft visual studio" for VB and VC++.
3. how to work on Screen painter add-on, able to design the forms,but how and where to write the code to make it work, or is there any tool kit for generating the code.
4. pls give the link in the SAP portal for downloading the " tools and software needed for working on SDK with SAP B1 2005.

The forum that you have posted your question in is for questions related to the SAP Business One Integration for SAP NetWeaver. Your question is SDK related and should be posted in the SAP Business One SDK Discussion forum.
That being said ... here are the answers to your questions ...
1. As far as the SDK goes, it does not provide an IDE. Since the API's are COM, then you can use any IDE that can communicate with COM objects such as VB6, VB.Net, C#, C++, etc.
2. As stated above, the SDK does not provide an IDE. You would need to purchase one or you can get a free one from Microsoft on there website such as Visual Basic 2005 Express Edition.
3. The Screen Painter is an SAP tool (independant of any IDE) that allows you to graphically create new SAP Business One looking forms and then save them to an XML format. You would then in your code use the LoadBatchActions method to load your XML form. Documentation on the Screen Painter and the LoadBatchActions method is in the SAP Business One SDK Help Center Documentation that comes with the SDK as well as there is eLearning available for the SDK on this portal as well as the SAP PartnerEdge Portal if you are an SAP Business One partner.
4. If you are an SAP Business One partner and have an "S" number, you can log into the SAP PartnerEdge Portal and then under SAP Business One and "Installations & Updates" you can download the SAP Business One product as the SDK installation is part of the overall installation package. If you are not a partner you would need to contact your local SAP Business One sales representative.

MULTI COMPANY DATABASE in SAP B1

is there a way for us to hide/unhide the other existing databases?

Hi,
You could always create a second SQL server instance and share the licence server. I am doing this to test addons without effecting the production system. if it runs on the same server you do not need a further licence for a new instance
However, there are caveats:
1) both databases would have to run exactly the same addons.
2) users would have to change the database server (instance) to switch between the companies. this would also mean they would have to know an admin password.
I am sure there will be more but they are the 2 that spring to mind.

Upgrade auf 8.8 (Company Database) funktioniert nicht

Hallo, wir haben folgendes Problem:
Wir haben ein Testsystem (SAP Business One 2007 PL11) auf einem Windows Server 2003 installiert (mit SQL Server 2005) mit einer ECHT_Datenbank von unserer Firma.
Wir wollen nun dieses 2007er System auf Version 8.8 upgraden.
Das Problem ist nun folgendes:
Wir upgraden die Server Tools und die Common Datenbank (alles auf 8.8).
Nun können wir in SAP 8.8 reingehen, aber unsere ECHT_Datenbank ist noch auf der alten Version, also wollen wir diese auch aktualisieren, jedoch steht bei der Überprüfung eine Warnung (Die Version der Company Database weicht von der Common Database ab) und wir können diese nicht upgraden.
Oder wir versuchen beide Datenbanken (Common und Company) gleichzeitig mit dem Wizard upzugraden, kommen dann auch ohne eine Warnung durch die Überprüfung, jedoch schlägt dann das Upgrade fehl.
Könnt ihr uns vielleicht helfen?

Hi all problem with sql server 2008 in sap b1 2005 PL38,42

We are also facing this problem. Our client has purchased SQL 2008 & we have installed SAP B1 PL 05 & also we have to upgrade it to PL 26 atleast for installing TDS Add on 4.8 so that Project runs smoothly.
Can u specify the status? i.e. at what stage is that upgradation? or by how much time this problem will be solved? Bcoz we are on the stage of test go live & we cant take back up of database of SQL 2008 & restore it in SQL 2005. We will have to do all settings in new company with database in SQL 2005.

I wonder how you got B1 installed properly on MSSQL 2008, as MSSQl 2008 comes with a new Native Client connection.
Anyway I see two options:
(1) Keep the system as it is, meaning no upgrades of B1 and pray nothing will happen as long MSSQL Server 2008 is not supported.
(2) In order to get a supported environment the better option would be, to try a combination of CopyExpress and DTW and get all data and settings transfered into a new MSSQL 2005 based Database.

Add-on connection error (-105) Access to company database is not permitted

Good day,
One of our clients have upgraded to 8.8 PL 11 (from 2007A PL 41).
Somehow the SBO-Common became corrupt and SAP suggested that we reinstall the SBO-Common.
The problem is that now the add-on (developed by us) is not connecting.
The add-on connects to UI API and DI API, but when trying to connect to the company with SAPbobsCOM.Company, an error is returned (error code: -105).
I am also confused about what the error actually is, bacause according to the SDK Help file, error -105 is "The observer.dll init has failed.", but the error message returned by the add-on is "Access to company database is not permitted; log on to SAP Business One and sign end user license agreement (EULA)"
I have tried resigning the EULA, but no success.
I have also tried deleting the content of the %temp%\SM_OBS_DLL, as suggested in another post.
The version of the OBServer.dll is 8.80.229.0 - I believe that this is the correct version for 8.8 PL 11?
Please advise.

My apologies.
I have discovered what the problem was - and it was me.
I did not realise that the connection I was making was not to the same database that I was connected to.
Therefore, I had to log onto the other database and sign the EULA.
The error explained exactly what I needed to do, but I wasn't paying attention.

SBO Backup not backing up one of the Company Database

Hi Expert,
My customer environment is :-
Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
MS-SQL 2005 SP3
SAP B1 2007B PL15 Hotfix
There are 8 company databases ticked in SBO Backup Database tab. 7 of them are backup successfully at the scheduled time, except 1. The MDF file is 3GB and the LDF file is around 800MB. There are still around 45GB free disk spaces remaining in this drive.
May i know why this database not backup?

I have tried to just run SBO Backup for that particular company. Still no backup happen.
But there is an error in Windows Event Viewer Application Log with SBO Backup.
ERROR
The description for Event ID 166 from source SBOBackUp cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.
The following information was included with the event:
The specified resource type cannot be found in the image file

Need a Help with instalation SAP IDES 2005 SR2

I'm trying to install SAP IDES 2005 SR2 on my notebook HP (2GB RAM, 120GB HDD, 700 HDD external, dual core procesor), Win Server 2003 Enterpise, Oracle 10g (patch 2), jave 1.4.2.13, I've downloaded all installation files DVDs from SAP Marketplace.

IDES and other Clients in one SAP ERP 2005 System

Hello everybody,
within a project for my master thesis i have to set up an SAP ERP 2005 System. This system should contain at least three clients. One of them should be the IDES client. Another client should be set up with an existing template. The third client should represent a smal company or at least i should set up some example process from the company (there is no need to map the whole company in the system). These processes should be realized with the SAP standard processes and they should just show how to map easy processes to SAP ERP. Neither the second nor the third client need to run in a productive environment, everything is just for training and testing.
My main Questions are:
I've already set up the SAP ERP 2005 System but without IDES. Can I still integrate the IDES Content or do i have to reinstall the whole System with a complete IDES Installation?
Can I implement the second and third client in the same ERP System (where the IDES client is) or do i need different Systems for it? Even if there is no productive use for the clients we would like to have a Development and a Quality Landscape. Is this possible with the IDES client? Actually I have two fast machines for this purpose - one for quality and one for development.
I would be very grateful for any hints.

Hi,
You can use SAP IDES as Dev and Quailty.There is no diffrence in full sap or IDES .In IDES we have some pree configure Clients and full Ecc we have three client 000,001 and 066.
So you can use SAP IDES as DEV.

Ans : you install diffrent mechine.We do't use any content.Do reinstall

Company database not created in SLD

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the "Integration Solution for SAP Business One" but the databases under SLD doesn't shows. Anyone can help me to solve the problem? Thanks in advance!

Please follow the below Procedure......
1. Go to MS SQL Server and Login.
2. Select Database which is not showing in SLD.
3. Take Backup.
4. Select the same database and Right Click and then Detach and then loigin in sap and refresh company list.
3. Again go to MS SQL Server and Login.
4. Right Click on Database Option and Attach the same database from C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\DATA this pathand atatach .mdf file of that database.......
Then go to SAP and again refresh the company list.
And then login to Integration Solution for SAP Business One and SLD and then check teh database.......

Show error when connect Company Database by DI API in 2004B

I use the DI API to connect company database in 2004B. I can get the company lists by SAPbobsCOM.CompanyClass.GetCompanyList().
I write a program to testing the connection that show two different result in client and server side.
- It show the error -2147221164 (Class not registered), when connect company database in client PC.
- The same program run in server, it connected.
I already checked my config as below
- SAP 2004B is installed 7.20.145 SP:00 PL:25
- SAPbobsCOM67.dll is 6.70.188.0 version, and "Special Build Description" is 21.
The client and server side are same config.
Any ideas how I should handle this?

Steps to migrate Project Server 2007 from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008?

We need to migrate Project server 2007 from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008.
1. Is it as simple as doing backup and restore of databases and pointing Project Server to the new DB server? Or there are some specific steps that should be followed?
2. Article at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd207290(office.12).aspx is about moving databases from one DB server to another (same versions). At one place, it mentions to
backup all databases but at another place it mentions that
You should only back up the Draft and Published databases from the source database server.
What should be done when moving from 2005 to 2008?

High Level step you can get this form Tech net or MSDN too
Shut down the SharePoint servers (App / Web)
backup all of the SharePoint and Project
Server databases from the SQL 2005 server
copy these over to the new SQL 2008 server and restore all of
the databases with the same names
script out all of the logins used by SharePoint/PS from the SQL 2005 server and create these on the SQL 2008 server
script out the Delete expired sessions SQL job from the SQL 2005 server and create this on the SQL 2008 server - or create them manually on the SQL 2008 server
repoint the SQL server DNS Alias from the SQL 2005 server to the SQL 2008 server, if SharePoint and Project Server was installed using the actual SQL server name and no alias, you can create a DNS alias for the old SQL 2005 server name that points to the SQL
2008 server. This is so that the SharePoint servers can still connect to the same SQL server name
Start up the SharePoint servers

Go to administration >add-on mabager and make sure crystal report is started
now select administration -> Crystal Report Administration->Account Setup ->enter password for ur database and click-> update->create Ext Tables
now select Manage Crystal Report->new report ->Browse to add .rpt file, give a name description select module and you can set the access as public or any specific group. select public for first time and click update
Now click on Preview and Print to view the report
