Search exponent or subscript in a document

Hi !
Do you know how to find all exponent and subscript characters in a document ?
I need to circle those caracteres by html tags (<e> or <inf>) in order to extract contents of documents in html.
Maybe using Find > Text or Grep ?

GREP find -> Find Format (you might need to click the "More options" button) -> Basic Character Formats -> Position -> Superscript.
Put
.+
in the Find What field -- this will find any text in superscript. Put this in the Replace With field:
<e>$0</e>
-- where <e> and </e> are your own codes, and "$0" simply means 'that which was just found". Repeat for Subscript. It will write these codes in superscript, resp. subscript, as well but that should not be a problem if you are extracting plain text only.
By the way, <e> is not the code for "exponent".

Well before i do the search and edit , I am actually opening a .mts file in word which is happening successfully.
The issue that i am facing now is I am unable to save it as .doc file through the 'SaveAs' method.
Here is my code. Can u please tell me what i need to do in order to correct this.
After i do this conversion i intend to pass the data from the .doc file to an internal table and then do the required change.
But First i need to save it to .doc type.

Search for a String within a document (Word, txt, doc) using JSP, JAVA

I have created a little application that uses combination of JSP and HTML. Users of this application can upload documents which are then stored on the server. I need to develop functionality where I can allows users to search for a string within a document. More precisely, user would type in some string in a text box and application will search all uploaded documents for that string and return the downloadable links to those documents that contains that string. I have never done this before. I was wondering if someone could get me started on this or point me to some thread where this idea is already discussed. Any Jave code exists for searching through documents??

During defining the partner Schema, please follow the process:
a.Create partner Schema
b.After creation of partner Schema, select your partner Schema and click u201Cpartner roles in schemau201D and you will have next screen
Now for Partner function like VN,OA,PI and GS as you required and select the check box of mandatory
and save.
Now try creating Vendor and you will have Partner function like VN,OA,PI and GS in vendor master.
Note: The following configuration steps for Vendor master are:
1. Create Vendor Account Group.OBD3
2. Maintain Number Ranges from Vendor account Group:XKN1,
3.Assignment of Number ranges to Account Group,OBAS
4.Partner Function: SPRO->MM->Purcahsing->Partner Determination-> partner roles->Permissible partner role sper account group
5.Partner Schema:

Unable to search for words in a pdf document

I am using Adobe Reader Ver 10.1.1 (All updates)
I have a pdf document in which I am unable to search for words. No words in the document are found even though they do exist. If I copy a word from within the document and paste it into the search criteria then instead of getting the word that I copied, I get substitute characters and it can in fact find these characters as the word being searched.
The document is a catalog and can be downloaded from the following URL.

I will appreciate any help as to why I cannot search for words in the document.

Thank you Dave Merchant and try67 for your responses. As per my previous post, I contacted the company re the catalogue and they have responded favourably. I'll include their response because it gives the reason for the search failure as document compression which you might find interesting. I'll await their new catalogue and see if they have fixed the problem.

Thank you very much for your input. And yes, you are correct, the compression we used for the current catalogue's PDF format does strip out text included in the catalogue. We used the compression settings we did with the intention of minimising download time, however I take your point about including text for search purposes (which I also utilise when I'm scanning through PDFs).
We will actually be posting out our new catalogue next week and we'll release the new PDF version on the website at the same time. I've asked our graphic designer to ensure that the PDF we use for the new catalogue includes searchable text.

Using Oracle Text to search through WORD, EXCEL and PDF documents

What I would like to know is if I have a WORD or PDF document stored in a table. Is it possible to use Oracle Text to search through the actual WORD or PDF document?

Yes you can do context sensitive searches on both PDF and Word docs. With the PDF you need to make sure they are text and not images. Some scanners will create PDFs that are nothing more than images of document.
Below is code sample that I made some time back to demonstrate the searching capabilities of Oracle Text. Note that the example makes use of the inso_filter that is no longer shipped with Oracle begging with Patch set 10.1.0.4. See metalink note 298017.1 for the changes. Search text in a entire webi document.

Hi,
When we try search a particular value on a report it only searches the value on the current page. Say we want to search for a value that is on page 2 and we go to find option and type the value it says record not found because it is on the other page.

Having said all this, I've just found a PDF where neither Preview nor Acrobat will find text that's in the document. This particular document was downloaded from the Web, so I have no idea how it was generated - just that there are PDF's that neither Acrobat nor Preview will search ...

You can try using a web form html webpart in a web part page instead.
Use Designer to add additional search columns and you should be able to create something usable.

OK, I found it myself:
1. Tools - Pages - Edit Page Design - Header & Footer - Add Header & Footer.
2. Select the font and size, etc, place the cursor on the appropriate site to insert the page number, click the "Insert Page Number" button, and click OK.
That is!

Cannot do a full text search on pdf or Microsoft office Documents.

I am using Oracle Content Server 10gR3
Apart from the standard components and other components, I have InBound refinery Support and Oracle text Search Components enabled.
I get the following error when I check in a pdf or a Microsoft office document.
Text Conversion of the file '<repo_home>/.pdf' failed.*
Content has been indexed with Info only. Resubmit should only be performed if the problem has been resolved.
I am able to perform a full text search on *.txt and *.htm files.

SharePoint search results not showing padlock to document icon

We have an application in which we have activated In place record management. this feature gives us possibility to make documents as records.
As now when we search that document, we can able to search that document but in search results we will not have padlock attached to document icon.
can we configure such in search results?

Ouch. Would you please not type in all capitals. It's hard to read.
Anyway the question doesn't make sense. XML is just a format for storing and transmitting data. XML doesn't have the concepts of subscripting and drawing horizontal rules. Perhaps you were thinking of HTML?

Search results displays title from the document and not from its metadata

I have an issue with SharePoint 2010 Search results. While searching for any content in SharePoint, it displays the title value from the keyword in the document and not from the metedata.
Scenario:- I have a document library and a document named "Bill Details C1234.doc" in it. The title for this item in document library is "Bill Details". However on searching with keyword "Bill" it displays the
first word in the word document which is "I".It should display the title set in the document i.e. "Bill Details".
Please suggest

So, where it references Filename, you would put title, but leave where it references title alone. Or maybe I misunderstood and you are looking for exactly this, to make search display the filename and not the title, in which case I trust that you'll

No Search Available In Password Protected Preview Document

You simply cannot search the pdf at all in SL if it is encrypted with a password.
I have a pdf with important data. To access it, I entered a password, and I can search it in Leopard.
The same document, after the password is entered, cannot be search in SL.
Save the same document as a non passworded protected pdf and it can be search.
Is there a new command I have missed?

I see the same thing. it would appear to be a bug to me. I suggest you file a bug report.

Trex search not working for not english documents

Hello, I've got a problem enabling full text search for russian documents
For enabling full text search for documents stored in kPro theese steps
were performed:
- creating rfc connection with TREX instance
- enabling Index Release and Classify in transaction skpr06 for document
area SRM
- marking LANGUAGE attribute in table SDOKCLPROP for custom PHIO class
Z780003P01 as obligatory
- creating index category and indexing stored documents in transaction
skpr07 for class Z780003P01
The indexing was performed successfully. Under the created index category
for class Z780003P01 it can be seen two indexed document classes
(transaction spkr07, button indexed documents) one with language marked E
(english) and one marked R (russian).
When trying to perform test search (transaction skpr07) and indicating
language as RU only documents in english can be searched. When trying
a search request in russian search engine allways shows 0 results (for
every request more than 2 characters). Small requests in russian (1-2
characters) show some results but they are hardly to be right.
Have you got some experience enabling full-text search for documents in language other than english?

sorry for long delay, we tried to work with sap support on this problem but still no profit,

We tried to add a LANGUAGE attribute as a free attribute in transaction DMWB for our LOIO and PHIO document classes with attribute value 'RU', but still the same issue.

The problem is that the indexing report says that most of documents were marked as indexed in russian successfully, so the problem is somwhere else I think.
