Search for rooms usnig custom properties

Hi All,
I have an application which sets a certain custom property to a room. Now I want to use this property in the room directory iview to search for only those rooms with certain value for that property. I dont want this to be an option for the suer. I want to set it through the iview properties so that users will only see relevant rooms, something simlar to filtering rooms based on categories or templates. Any idea how to do this?
I tried some changes to the query property. But it didnt work.

I tried it. Unfortunately, it didnt work. I tried it with the room_id property and my custom property. It did not work in both cases. I have done this for normal search iviews, which works perfectly. But never tried for Roomdirectory iviews.
Do you know some other way to achieve this functionality?
I tried the following variations of the query string in my iview:
ConfigFileName=Navigation.xml&StartPage=NavigationPage&Validate=false&testName(value=testValue/comparator=EQ)
ConfigFileName=Navigation.xml&StartPage=NavigationPage&Validate=false&cust:testName(value=testValue/comparator=EQ)

ConfigFileName=Navigation.xml&StartPage=NavigationPage&Validate=false&SelectedPredefinedProps=cust:testName(value=testValue/comparator=EQ)
Let me know if I am missing something.
And I just now got another idea. We are using TREX for room search. So it might be that since the property is custom, it is not indexed and is not searched. I will create a property for this and try. I will update this post with the results.
Added: On second thought, the property room_id is an indexable property and using that also did not give any results. So I think it is not a problem with the property. It is something else.
Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Problems with the Search for room content

Hi,
I face a problem configuring the search for room content using KM search iView (com.sap.km.Search).
I found the chapter Configuring the Search for Room Content in the help. So I set up the following things :
1- I assign the room_id iView parameter to the roomid room parameter (in the template)
2- I added room_cm_search component to the component set (I added it at the bottom of the "component for basic search function")
3- I select the entry "Folder" as the default search scope in the search option set. I specify a root folder for search as well.
But it doesn't work properly. It always returns "no result found". And if I add the room_cm_search component at the top of the "component for basic search function", It runs the search on all the documents of the default search scope, and not only on the room documents.
Can you please tell me the right way to configure the search for room content using the com.sap.km.Search iView ?
I work on EP 7.0 SP 10.

Hi Loic,
the Room Content Search iView is a special Search iView that is filtering for documents that were created in the Room Context (all documents get a specific metadata that is keeping the roomiD) . The easiest thing is to use the standard iView used for the delivered templates from SAP.
I would advise to use the iView that is already preconfigured for a room template or part template and can be found and referenced in your template from the following path: Portal Content ->com.sap.ip.collaboration--> TemplateAndPartContent --> Generic -->iViews and take the iView "Search Room"
If you reference that iView in your room template or room part template, you have to think about the correct configuration in the template configuration iView. Just take as example the configuration of the part template "SAP Search Room".
Or even better: Copy a template (room or part) from SAP that is containing the Room Search and delete everything what you don´t need out of the template. You safe time and you can add all additional content you´ll need to your template. Some ideas can be found in the following "How to Guide":

What you have written under 3 -> would never work as the root folder for search doesn´t make any sense as the documents of a room are stored in different folders and you can´t define a root folder. Therefor you have the specific room_id parameter that is filtering what documents belong to the room.

Changing Layout for Room Directory

Hello All,
I need to change the Layout for Room Directory,
For this,i did,
1) KM -> CM -> User Interface -> Settings -> Layout Set -> Search for Room Directory(Taking duplicate and named as Room Directory 1) -> Changed the Display Properties for private, public and restricted Rooms.
2) Changed the Layout Settings Property for the Room Directory iView.
But it is not reflecting, anything has to be change?

Hi,
From the link, I posted you can see that the folder settings take precedence over IView settings (Exception: Layout Set Mode Force).
Check this to define layoutset on the folder:

The problem here is that your folder already has a layoutset defined on it and this takes precedence over your IView settings. So either you set your new layoutset on folder or remove exisiting layoutset of the folder so that your iview settings take precedence.
I am not sure why IView settings Layout Set Mode Force, does not exist on RoomDirectory IView, if set to this mode then IView settings are taken even layoutset on folder exists.

Unable to retreive custom properties for WPC pages in TREX search result

Hi All,
We have created couple of custom properties "custom_news_heading" and "custom_news_abstract" which are indexable and made it available for all folders and documents.
In web pages folder in one of the WPC web site we have created few pages. In details screen for those pages we have updated those custom propeties with some text.
We have created an Index out of that web pages folder and able to see indexed count as same as the pages inside the web pages folder.
For that index the "Display Index Details" screen in TREX monitor is not showing up the custom properties - means TREX is not considering those custom properties even if have flagged it as Indexable.
Search result is returning the properties like "display name", contentlength etc. But we are not able to reterive the custom properties by customizing the Collection Renderer's Diaplayed properties.
Any advice please?

Add custom properties to People Search Results

Good morning,
I am trying to include some custom properties to our Search Results. These are the steps I have followed so far:
Create User Profile Service Property and sync to AD. The property is populated for different users.
Run full crawl
Create managed property on the Schema, and map this to the crawled property
Created a new version of the Item_Person.html template and changed its title.
Upload to the Display Templates gallery, and created a new Result Type with this as its template
Added the new property to the mso:ManagedPropertyMapping tag
Went to Search Result Types, and selected "Update" on the Property Sync alert
On the new template, the new property appears on the object ctx.CurrentItem, but its value is null.
Am I missing something? Tried running full crawl and incremental crawl. Even tried removing the index first.

Implementing Data Search for Custom Objects

Can any one have some information on implementing search criteria for custom objects.
I am looking to modify the drop down values and search criteria based on custom data model.

The following configuration activity might resolve your query.
Transaction: mdgimg.
General Settings> UI Modelling> Define Field Properties for UI. Select your custom data model and go to "Hide Field Names."
For the fields of the entity type, you don't want to come up in the search UI, check on "No selection".
"No Selection" : These wouldn't come up as search Criteria. "No Results List": These won't come up in final result list.

What is the use of custom properties for terms in term store management of SharePoint 2013

Can some one pls explain what is the purpose of custom properties for terms in term store management tool of SharePoint 2013.
In general, for each term we have shared and local properties. What is the real purpose in terms of SharePoint development.
Please share with possible scenarios. Does it refer's to a hierarchical metadata in SharePoint ?

The custom properties for terms allow you to further define or clarify a term via the properties. You can then display these properties in search results or specify query rules that look for specific custom properties.

Custom search for pages

Hi all,
I have a couple of questions about custom search on pages:
1) How do pages appear as links in a custom search region? We are able to search on non standard page type, but the problem is that we cannot retain a template with an non standard page type.
2) How do we tag a page with a refrencable attribute (preferably categories and perspectives) so that we can search on in a custom search?

(1) I am not entirely clear on what you are meaning. Is it the appearance of the actual page search results which is wrong or the actual search results. Can you please give more information.
(2) You can create a page type and add the attributes you wish to use to search for the page. Then after creating a page of this new type go to its properties and click on the 'Optional' tab you can enter values for these additional attributes.

Searching for Sales Order for the given Customer PO Number Pattern in BAPI

Hi,
     I have developed a BAPI which retrieves all the Sales Orders for a given Customer (Sold-To). The Following are the Input Parameters given in the Function Module (RFC).
Customer Number (Mandatory)
From Date (Optional)
To Date (Optional)
Sales Order Number(Optional)
Customer PO Number(Optional)
Now, when the Customer PO Number is populated, it will come as a Pattern, say 9ab* and I need to retrieve all the Sales Orders with PO Number starting with 9ab.
When I am trying to retrieve, it is giving different set of output based on the Case specified in the Customer PO Number Pattern. Lets say, if I give 9ab, I get 200 Records but if I give 9AB, I get only 5 to 6 Records.
As I have understood from the Standard Transaction VA03, it has a Search Help VMVAA which retrieves all the Sales Orders for the given PO Number pattern irrespective of the Case, that is Lower Case, Upper Case or Mix of Upper and Lower Case.
I can see the Code in the Search Help Exit but couldn't find useful piece of code which I can implement in my BAPI to simulate the same.
Can somebody help me on this?

         I think you did not understand what my problem is. What I mean to say is, for Customer X, the PO Number could be 9abc and for Customer Y, the PO Number Could be 9ABC.
       So, according to your logic, if I translate it to Upper Case, it will give the Sales Order details of Customer Y to Customer X.
      And more over, SAP stores the PO Number as it is entered in the Sales Order Screen (VA01).
    What if the Customer PO Number for Customer X is 9aBcDeFgH? and the PO Number for Customer Y is 9AbCdEf?

Help needed in Inbox search for Custom attribute

Hi,
We have a requirement where in we are having a custom attribute on Service request to store the ECC Order number.
We have enhanced the Inbox search to retreive all the service requests havig the ECC order number.
Here we are encountering a problem. i just created a new crm service request and entered order number 1234. and now when i search for the same in Inbox search giving the criteria order number as 1234. I get no results found. But when i extend the max list to 2000, then i see the service request appearing in the result list. not sure about the algorithm that is designed for inbox search.
Any pointers on how to resolve this issue would be of great help.

I do not have the time to research this completely, but I had a short look into the class you posted.
In the GET_DYNAMIC_QUERY_RESULT there is a call to CL_CRM_QCOD_HELPER->PREPROCESS( )
A little bit lower there are blocks marked by comments for the single searches that are handled by this class. I had a look into the campaign_serach() method. There if you scroll a little bit down (around line 123) they set all search parameters to SIGN = 'I' OPTION = 'EQ'. This is done several times below as well.
Set a breakpoint in the proprocess() method and check which of the blocks is called and how they handle your search criteria.

In XD03, when I am searching for Customer using Name as Search term I am getting postal code, Name1, City, Customer no. I want Name2 also to be displayed. Can somebody please suggest.

for this you will have to change the search term involved during the master data creation.
now during the creation of customer master data , enter the name as the search term in the data base.
if possible change the database of customers and insert the name in the search term.
without it, it will be really difficult to locate the customers with the search term as their name

There is basically no difference between a search help for standard vs. customer tables.
An important choise is the selection method for your search help:
Either you use your custom table, a view or a search help user-exit if you need to implement very specific requirements.
Assuming that you can use your DB table as selection method the further implementation of the search help is quite straightforward:
(1) Define the parameters you would like to have a selection criteria (SPos = SPos) and which should appear on the result list (= LPos).
(2) Define the parameters that can be used as input for the selection (flag IMP) and are returned by the search help (flag EXP)

Sharepoint 2010 custom search for subsites

Hello, i have main site and about 30 subsites. And on each subsite about 30 document librarys.
I created basic search center custom site with name "Search". I also created custom scope. So when i search on my main site, anything is fine and when i go to subsite document library my scope is changed to this site:document librarys name. Then
i pu something in search line and click search. On my custom search page i can see, that all links are from correct subsite and correct document library, but my scope shows "This Site:Search". So when i put something else in my search line and click
search, i dont get any results, because it searches only on search page. Even when i click on scope dropdown, there is no choice, only "This Site:Search".
Is there any solution to create a search scope, that would take the parameters from the document librarys URL from wich i am searching for and put it in the scope.
P.S.
Default search OSSSearchResults.aspx works fine, but i nead to change xsl code.
I tried to put scope dropdown to "show and default to url parametr", but nothing is changed.

If you want to search on a library, you can go to the library, then search using the Search Box at the top of the page. When you search, it will go to the OSSSearchResults.aspx page, and on the page, you will find there are two search scope, one is the library,
another is the site. If you want to search on another library, you can go to another library, then search.
Or, you can create a custom search scope pointed to the library, and add the search scope into the Search Dropdown display group.

Sorting with layout set for NewsBrowser and custom made properties

I have developed some custom made properties that is used for each document based on XML Form. But how can I obtain a custom sorting order based on my properties.
After created a document I define some properties for company, department and process. And using the layout set for NewsBrowser I will have my documents sorted due to my processes. Lets say that I have set the properties for the process for some documents, e.g. SA1010, SA1010-1, SA1010-1a, how to obtain this sorting order in a KM-Navigation-iView using layout set for NewsBrowser?

Hi Kay-Arne,
A namespace defines a system area in which a property (defined by a property ID) is allowed to exist only once. So for your own predefined properties you should use an own namespace in order to be able to use a Property ID that is already available in another namespace. Check this link for more info:

In the Property Definition you later use the Namespace Alias. This alias (with ":PropertyID") you would also use in the LayoutSet Parameter mentioned above.
