Search Help management

Hi all,
I am creating a web dynpro that replicates the SAP customer creation (like VD01). I have to replicate the field's search help too, so into the context I selected:
-Input Help Mode: Dictionary search help
then I put into the field Dictionary search help the same one of VD01 dynpro for each field.
It works, but I'm not able to manage the Search Help in which the selection has to consider the content of other fields, for example:
If I select 'BE' as Country, I would like that for field Region, openning search help, I can see only that region relative Country 'BE'.
Could someone help me please?
Thanks

  • Search Help for Region in travel expense manager

    All,
    The travel expense manager has a field called Region in the "general trip data" section . This region is used to to determine the Per diems and Flat rates for meals and accomodation.
    This values can only be the values that exist in T7020 table. That is T7020 is a check table for this field. But there is no search help provided for this field in the transaction PR05. When I click on the search help (f4), i do not get any values. It is impossible for the user to know the codes for the region in contention. Like for Phoenix, the code is AZ/PH. There is no way the user will know these codes without the F4 search help. Any ideas if this is a configuration thing or any round about way to get over this issue?
    Thanks in advance
    regards
    Sam

  • Solution Manager-Search help limitation

    Dear friends,
       I am using SOl Man 4.0 , service pack level SP12.
       I have maintained hundred document types in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN for my project.
    Now i want to extract a report through transaction SOLAR_EVAL, based on document type. In SOLAR_EVAL, under "Document type" field if i press F4, system is only listing first 79 document types only. It is not listing remaining 21 document types in search help. How to extend this search help from 79 to 500?
    Expecting your valuable reply
    Regards
    Senthil

    Hi Senthil,
    just curious, how did you come up with 100 different document types?
    I can't imagine why it would only show 79, but here is a work around that will take some time to setup but will save time in the long run.
    Go to your configuration and get the 100 document type abbreviations.
    Then go to the report filter screen and enter the document type abbreviation in the document type field. Now save this as a variant (Goto > Variant > Save as Variant). Now you won't have to remember the abbreviation, but rather a descriptive variant name.
    This will also allow you to save reports that combine two or more document types, such as a report that lists FDS & TDS together.
    To load the variant you click Goto > Variants > Get and select the one you want.
    If you want to speed it up even more, assign the variant to a transaction and you'll get your reports in one click. Let me know if you need the directions for this.
    Hope this is a good enough work around.
    regards,

  • Using Search Help with ALV and Dynamic context node

    The topic subject already describes my situation.
    I have to create, populate and remove context nodes at runtime, and bind them to an ALV, to let user display the data or modify the data. The nodes I create are always typed with a table name, but the table name is of course, dynamic.
    This is all working: what's not working is help for entries inside the ALV; since the table has foreign keys and domains with check tables or fixed values, I expected that search helps were detected and managed by the framework.
    Instead, no help search is displayed except the input help based on data-type of the one "Date" input fields.
    I think I have to work on the dynamic node creation, and not on the ALV itself, since the latter only takes the node/attributes information, but i could be wrong. I tried with both the two following codings:
      CALL METHOD lo_nd_info_root->add_new_child_node
        EXPORTING
          static_element_type          = vs_tabname
          name                         = 'SAMPLE_NODE_NAME'
    *    is_mandatory                 = abap_false
    *    is_mandatory_selection       = abap_false
         is_multiple                  = abap_true
         is_multiple_selection        = abap_false
    *    is_singleton                 = abap_false
          is_initialize_lead_selection = abap_false
          is_static                    = abap_false
        RECEIVING
          child_node_info              = lo_nd_info_data .
    cl_wd_dynamic_tool=>create_nodeinfo_from_struct(
          parent_info = lo_nd_info_root
          node_name = 'SAMPLE_NODE_NAME'
          structure_name = vs_tabname
          is_multiple = abap_true ).
    The result is the same...is there any way to let the ALV know what search helps it has to use, and doesn't force me to manually build a VALUE_SET to be bound on the single attributes? There are many tables, with many fields, and maintaining this solution would be very costly.

    I have checked with method GET_ATTRIBUTE_VALUEHELP_TYPE of interface IF_WD_CONTEXT_NODE_INFO, on an attribute which i know to have a search help (Foreign key of a check table).
    The method returns 'N', that is the constant IF_WD_VALUE_HELP_HANDLER~CO_VH_TYPE_NO_HELP. So, the framework was not able to find a suitable search help.
    Using method GET_ATTRIBUTE_VALUE_HELP of the same interface, on the same attribute, returns me '111', which is constant C_VALUE_HELP_MODE-AUTOMATIC.
    Therefore, the WD framework knows it has to automatically detect a value help, but fails to find one.
    Also, this means in my opinion that the ALV and the dynamic external mapping are not the culprits: since node creation, no help is detected for any attribute but the date. Honestly, I don't have a clue on what's happening.

  • Custom search help for a custom field in SRM 7

    EDIT: I'm gonna clarify on this thread since my first post wasn't explicative enough... thanks for the patience
    Hi all gurus,
    the question is about a search help in SRM7 but since the task is about abap development, I guess this is the right section to ask for.
    Shortly; every purchase doc in our SRM7 has a custom header table which contains data which are retrieved from the connected backends. In this custom table, the user has the opportunity to add manually a line, and for a specific input field in table, we have to define a search help which should retrieve the appropriate possible values w.r.t. the "target" backend for the document.
    A bit of technical data: say the field is called ZZ_R3_ROLE; it's included in a custom structure ZR7_HEADER_CST_GEN which is itself an append for BBP_PDHCF.
    I defined a Search Help for that field and the corresponding exit FM to manage our task.
    Unfortunately, to retrieve the possible values for the specific backend I need some informations like:
    - the backend on which the document will be distributed;
    - the process type of the document.
    This means that my search help should take into account additional informations that comes from the document I'm processing; I don't know what's the "clean" solution to do this.
    I've seen on an old system (a SAP SRM 3.0) a workaround based on IMPORT/EXPORT ... TO MEMORY ID has been used. Actually, I'd like to find a more elegant solution, if any.
    So... as you can see, I'm absolutely a newbie on the argument, but since I can trigger the search help only from a purchase document (PO, contract) process, I should need at least the GUID of the document to retrieve, for example, what's the target backend for that document in order to provide proper values.
    Any hint/suggestion and in particular, a sketch of code as example is welcome.

    Hi,
    into your modify view,
    extract data you need in your search help in an itab (do it into a class do not perform select directly into modify view) and then bind it as value help to your WD element.

  • How to populate data from screen on to search help field

    Hello all,
    I have a requirement in which for a field i have attached a search help and i am calling the search help by using the FM
    F4IF_FIELD_VALUE_REQUEST it is working fine.
    I have one additional requirement that whernever any data is entered on the screen field say ( A* ) then F4 is pressed on the search help in the field this value must be considered. Now it appears blank but i want this data to get populated from the screen

    or

  • Account assignment search help in SC.

    We currently implement stand-alone scenario and looking for solution how to maintain account assignment data in EBP. As far as I know account assignment data managed in back-end system and not replicated into EBP.
    We would like to manage account assignment data in EBP in Z-table. This table required to have F4-search for WBS-elements in SC transaction.

    Is it possible to show WBS-element description on account assignment overview screen?

  • Calling a standard search help from MS Office

    One of the companies I work for has integration with Microsoft Office so users can create SAP DMS (document management system for those who aren't familiar with it) entries directly from e.g. Microsoft Word. The integration solution is a custom .Net application.
    In addition to the obvious integration to create the DMS info record and assign the document as an original the integration solution lets the user provide classification data. Some changes are now being planned, and one of them is challenging as a new characteristic (for the classification) will be used to store an organization unit. This is straightforward when the user is in the SAP GUI, as the standard search help can easily be displayed from custom code.
    Being a technology optimist I was hoping that with the new fancy technologies SAP would have provided a way to use .NET integration to display a standard search help from the MS Office integration dialogue - but so far I have not been able to find any information supporting this hope. Luckily I am not the developer working with the integration dialogue, but unless the mentioned possibility exists it looks like we have to resort to passing all organization units to the interface so a hierarchy can be constructed and displayed to the user for selection.
    Another alternative (I think) is to recreate the dialogue as a web dynpro screen, which will give us all the advantages of operating "inside" SAP. However, I am not sure if this is possible either. Can a web dynpro screen be called from an MS Office application (.Net), and can that web dynpro screen return values to the (external) calling application? In my simple view of the world this should be doable, if not otherwise it should at least be possibly by wrapping the screen in a function module that is exposed so the .Net application can call it - either by RFC or as a web service.
    Microsoft Office version is 2003.
    SAP release is ECC 6.0 (Netweaver 7.0).
    I think this is the right forum for my question. My apologies if it isn't (and any guidance towards a more appropriate forum would then be appreciated).

    Not solvable I suppose. There should be a way to close messages without marking them as answered.

  • Search Help Parameters Import and Export??

    Hello,
    In my WDA View i have some <b>InputFields</b>, which are mapped to Context which is copied from a Dictionary Structure. For all Input Fields i have a corresponding Search Help assigned in the Dictionary Structure. Search Help for some of the InputFields require value of other InputFields.
    Now, in the WDA when i click on Search Help of any InputField the values for some of the parameters from Input Field which are already set are not being shown in the Search Help Restrictions window. I have already checked and made sure that the field name and data element types are maintained the same in Dictionary Structure and associated Search Help. I even checked for the import checkbox in search help and everything looks fine to me from Dictionary Search and Search Help.
    Can anybody please tell me what should i do to get the values in the Search Help Restriction window which have been already selected in the View InputFields?
    I hope i managed to explain my problem correctly, if not then please tell me so i could describe in more detail.

    I figured it out. I forgot to assign the Field Name in the Dictionary Structure. Thanks.

  • Regarding Search Help

    Hi Experts,
    We are having one Customised Transaction code for Project management and when i select Sales Employee and enter  the pernr , it will display all the sales order under him, but when i am not searching through Pernr Instead am pressing F4 where i can see Last name and First Name under F4 Help and I am giving some name 'FIRST NAME = LIEW' and press enter it showing an error as 'No values found for the selection' though his record existing in View M_PREMN, here the search help used is PREMN, How can we check wheteher this Entry has been maintained under PREMN?
    Please provide your Valuable Suggestions.

  • T-code PA30(SAP HR) search help exit problem.

    Hi Experts ,
    I have a requirement to restrict/show particluar Wage Types in PA30 t-code on basis a  company code of a given the employee (PERNR).
    The field PERNR/Company code are not there in the parameters or selection method of the elementary search help H_T5W3A(PA0151-LGART field) .
    I have managed to add the field pernr to the parameters of this elementary serach help H_T5W3A and also given it as a importing parameter in the custom search help exit FM.
    When i debug the PERNR/Company code don't get populated in the FM parameters.
    I need this PERNR/Comp code to be poulated in order for the search help entries to be restricted as this is the requirement.
    Please tell me what step i am missing here.
    Any other workarounds for this requirement.

    Hi,
    Adding an importing parameter just provides the user to restrict the search by entering the field value. For this you need not write a search help exit. You only need to join the tables with the fields properly in the search help. However if the Wage types need to be populated as per the company code and if you have included the company code as an importing parametr, then everytime the user clicks on the F4 help for Wage type, he "has" to enter the company code in the pop up that appears for selection criteria, otherwise how would the search help know the value that you have entered for company code.
    Without entering the company code in the pop up that would appear to restrict the search, the search help won't work as there won't be any other way to make it aware of the value entered.
