Search obj type

how to search an object type if i know only name of object.
e.g suppose i know z_obj but the type i.e. if it is table or structure etc.
then where shall i search

REPORTS TO BE CREATED
1. PRODUCTION ORDERS AND DETAILS OF COMPONENTS
2. PRODCUTION ORDER RESERVATIONS.
The data for this reports are fetched from RESB and AFKO TABLES.
To track the changes in RESB table.
Addition of the components manually in the production order, we can track through the change date for master data field (AUFK – AEDAT). For each time when we are adding the components, the system will create a new line item in RESB – OBJNR. BY change mode only we can add the new components in the production order.
Planned order reservation changes we can track through the MRP date (MDKP – DSDAT
FROM THE ABOVE INFORMATION
1. i have to pull the data for production orders and details of components. ie from table RESB ONLY
2.I have to pull the data for reservation of production orders from RESB & AFKO table
how should i create a generic datasource with above information without failing to pull deltas

• "Search Result Types" Error on page view

When visiting "Search Result Types"
under Site Collection Administration on a few of my site collections I get an error. This only happens on some of the site collections and I can't pin down why its occurring. I've tried disabling "SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure" and
deleting the Relationship list then turning the infrastructure feature back on with not luck.
I've attached URLs below, any help would be greatly appreciated.

• SharePoint 2013 custom search Result Type for "Documents" not showing up as option

I'm trying to create a custom search Result Type called "Documents" that will filter to MS Office filetypes and PDF's.
However, when I perform a search, although many of these types of files show up in the results, I don't have "Documents" as a Result Type option.
Here are the steps I'm following:
From my Enterprise Search Center subsite: Site Settings > Manage Result Types.
New Result Type.
Name: Documents
Source: Documents (System) - this out-of-the-box Result Source appears to cover the filetypes I need.
Types of content: I've tried leaving it blank (to match all content) and specifically picking the types I want.
What should these results look like? Office Document Item.
Check Optimize for frequent use.
Save.
I then go back to my search center and search for a common keyword. Many in-scope file show up in the search results. However, under Result Type, I don't see "Documents," even if I click "SHOW MORE."
Please advise.
Thanks.
Brad

@Mikael As you say, to display the exact results when we click a result source, we should implement logic code to check whether item should be displayed. I have followed steps nearly the same as the topic owner but I saw nothing different between Everything
and my custom Result Type.
Here are the steps I'm following:
Create a custom result type, named Job, and specify a custom display template for it.
Set its condition to filter list items that have JobName site column ( JobName is site column's managed property) equal of any "IT" or "Doctor".
I search for "Perter", it returns 5  items with Everything. I expect that it should return 3 items since only those items contain JobName site column.
Search is fun but rather headache sometimes, give me advise please :)
Thanks,
Hoan.

• Customize search result types in SharePoint 2013

Hi
I want to create the new Search Result types based on existing "List SharePoint Item" result type. I know how to do it manually . But i want it to automate it. can i do it using powershell script? is there anything available or somebody tried anything
in this direction?
So my requirement is bascially create the Result type with custom display template. Please suggest how to do using powershell script or sharepoint object model.
Thanks

Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to create search result source programmatically in SharePoint 2013.
Here are some links about creating search result source programmatically for you to take a look:

• My search box types repeated letters without my input, eg. "cccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc"

Is it a virus that would make my search box type letters on its own like "ccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc" or would this be an error with my keyboard?

Hi
please open notepad to verify.
or go to safemode to check
or the ultimate checking is try your keyboard with other PC or laptop, if issue still persist, means keyboard issue

• How do I get the Batch Search Strategy Type in an ABAP program?

Hi Experts,
I have a requirement to filter the Batch Search Strategy Type in a BADI. For example, I have a Strategy Type ZD01 which is a Customer/Material combination. This has been created and checking VCH3 confirms that.
For example, I am implementing BADI VB_BD_SELECTION~PRESELECT_BATCHES and will put the filtering in there. For example, I go to transaction VL01n then create outbound delivery with order reference, in the PRESELECT_BATCHES portion, I will do a filtering that if Batch Search Strategy Type = ZD01, then do some code.
My problem is, I don't know how to retrieve the Strategy Type. I can use the parameters I_KOMKH-KUNNR (Customer) and I_KOMPH-MATNR (Material) of method PRESELECT_BATCHES to retrieve the Strategy Type but I don't know how.
Any tips?

• How can I define a new Search Node type?

Hi experts!
I'm trying to modify PPOME transaction, but I can't create a new Search Node type. Can anybody give me the necessary steps I have to do? Other question, Is it possible to create a new Search Node for a Organizational unit? Or this only could be possible for new objects types?
Thanks a lot,
Regards,
Rebeca

Hi Rebeca,
You need to create a Search node only if you create a new object type (e.g. ZP).
For org unit, you don't need to create one (unless you wanna change search details)
Otherwise, you can use existing search nodes for standard object types.
What you can do is, you can add a search node to an existing scenario in order to make it visible in the object manager part (left-hand side of the screen).
To create a new search node :
Goto SPRO Personnel management - Organizational Management - Hierarchy Framework - Object manager - define your own search node -
> Define search node : Add new entries here.
To add a search node to a scenario (e.g. to make a new search node visible on the left-hand side of PPOME)
Goto SPRO Personnel management - Organizational Management - Hierarchy Framework - Object manager - define your own search node -
> Scenario Definition (Object manager) : Select the scenario (for PPOME it is OME000), double click the "Search nodes" and create new entries to add the search node here. Then double click the "Search tool", copy the lines of a similar search node and change search node field to the new one.
Best regards,
Dilek

• Component for search all type of transactions

Does Web UI has component for search all type of transactions?
For example, for search activities, quotations, lead, opportunities simultaneously.
Denis.

Hi Stephen,
I think component suggested by Nisha "'BT_1O_SEARCH" in the above reply is built on one order query object and it allows searching on all the one order entities..
In case it's needed to reuse  'BT_1O_SEARCH'  in the other components.. this component is integrated in docflow component as a component usage that will give the idea on binding etc..
Hope this helps..

• Spotlight cannot search for type & creator codes?

I want to find some old ClarisWorks documents that I know are on my computer somewhere. Simple, I thought: Just search for documents dated before 2000 with creator code BOBO. But looking through the list of search parameters in Spotlight, I don't find either type or creator code. I know Mac OS X no longer uses these metadata, but they can still be useful, as in cases like this. Am I missing something? Is there a way for Spotlight to search on type & creator codes?

Thanks for the response. I solved my problem by just looking through folders of old files and checking dates of those with AppleWorks icons. Very 21st century. I knew there must be some reason I thought I could do such a search, so I fired up my old 'Pismo' PowerBook and indeed, the Finder search utility in 10.3.9 allows searching for Type and Creator codes. It also will search only on those codes, or on a date or other parameter; while with Spotlight I could find no way to search for, say, all files dated before 1/1/1999 -- it requires something entered in the top field, i.e. a word to search for either in the file's contents or its name. So I put in "the" and got a lot of results, but of course minus any file that doesn't contain "the". Not so smart.
I've never much liked Spotlight, which is way overkill for 95+% of the searching I do; I almost never used it in 10.4 (used Easy Find); in 10.5 at least it's fast enough to not be a major annoyance, though the fact that I can't make "File Name" the default requires me to keep a Spotlight window open in the Finder all the time (or have to manually click on "File Name" every time I want to do a search). Sure it's nice to be able to search the contents of files -- when I need to, but that's almost never. Meanwhile, Spotlight remains far inferior in simple, day-to-day usability to 10.3's Find utility.
So how do you find out how to do such a "Raw Query" search? "kMDItemKind" is not an immediately intuitive term, at least for ordinary mortals such as myself.

• Private synonym unknown obj type

Hi,
I'm making a script, that makes private synonyms for the new database schema "ABC", for our existing schemas.
part of the script is:
SELECT * FROM (
SELECT owner, object_name FROM all_objects WHERE owner IN ('ETL') AND object_type IN ('TABLE', 'VIEW') AND object_name NOT LIKE '%$%' MINUS(
SELECT table_owner, table_name FROM all_synonyms WHERE UPPER(owner) IN ('PUBLIC', 'ABC')
AND UPPER(table_owner) IN ('ETL'))
r_synonym     sys.all_objects%ROWTYPE;
         FOR r_synonym IN table_synonyms
         LOOP
         EXECUTE IMMEDIATE 'CREATE OR REPLACE SYNONYM ABC.'||r_synonym.object_name ||' FOR '||r_synonym.owner||'.'||r_synonym.object_name;
         END LOOP;
Now, the synonym gets created, but the info shows me "<unknown obj type>" and as you can expect, the synonym doesn't work (even though it's created).
Any ideas?
Thx

Does ABC have any privileges on the objects?
E.g. a sysnonym on a table will not work if you don't have a privilege like SELECT or UPDATE.
Regards
Marcus

• Search parameter type with bind variable

For Search type parameter in Oracle BI Publisher, if the List of values (SQL Query) contains bind variable, then application keep on searching. Any suggestions ?.
Thanks in advance.
Edited by: 966132 on 17-Oct-2012 22:23

I don't think the search-type parameter works properly. It doesn't seem to function in our OBIEE 11g (11.1.1.5 + BP3). When you use a query that retrieves both the descriptive string and the numeric ID, the search box does correctly show the descriptive string. However, after selecting one of the choices, the actual data query returns nothing.
Furthermore, the extra steps required to search take longer than scrolling through a very long list of values, the normal way. Good idea, bad implementation, no surprise.

• When/How to use - "search" parameter type in parameter like other types.

We recently upgraded BI Publisher to 10.1.3.4. I saw new parameter type "search" in parameter section, when creating report. whats the use of it? How to use it ? like other parameter type Text, Menu,Hidden, Date.
I couldn't find any help or release notes on this !
Thanks
Ayaps

I started looking into this parameter type when our drop-down for customer numbers went from 13,000 (manageable) to 45,000 (completely unmanageable).
I imagine this is supposed to mimic the effects of a "Long List" type LOV in Oracle Applications (as I had inquired about in [this thread|http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=895521&stqc=true|Large List of Values (LoV) hangs. Is there an equivalent for a long list?]), but performance-wise, "Search" does not seem to be any more efficient that using the "Menu" type LOV. Even with the help of having a partial string with a wildcard to match, the "Search" still takes too long to pull up to be of any use to us.

• Missing Button Graphics (E.g. Search/Submit type buttons)

Hi,
This problem has plagued me for a while now and I've made a few attempts at finding a solution but none have worked.
Basically in place of the 'Post Question' button below which should be in green I have a 'place holder' grey button with the words super-imposed over it. Also, the buttons above the box I am typing in (for formatting text etc.) are just completely blank, grey squares.
This is the same for most push buttons of this type across various sites. For example, Google's search button, YouTube login etc.
The problem does not occur in Firefox's Safe Mode, however when running Firefox normally, even with all add-ons and plugins disabled the problem persists.
I've no idea what else Safe Mode does differently so I'm unsure how to continue troubleshooting this issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
* On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
* Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshooting extensions and themes article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.

• SRM 7.0 Advanced Search Object Type

Dear All,
We use SRM 7.0, I want to remove some object types from Advanced Search options in Portal. For example, in standard advanced search, you can select shopping card, confirmation, purchase order, contract... etc. And i dont want some emplyees to see all purchase order or contracts.
How am i going to delete for example purchase order option from advanced search ?
Best regards,

Hi
Advanced search drop down menu is based on SPRO configuration
SRM server -- Cross application basic settings -- POWL and Adv search
Here Standard object types will be defined as SAP entries under define objects types for advanced search.
Also, default application will be assigned for each object types.
If you deleted any of these standard object types, then that object type will not be available in advanced search for any SRM roles. However, that is not advisable to deleted standard objects.
Alternatively, if you want restrict certain group of users to access the some object types, you can control through the configuration powl_queryR which is query visibility at role level.
You can control the the same at user level if you want through powl_queryU

• Can't we use Binary SEARCH  for TYPE SORTED TABLE?(Performance Improvement)

Hi Expert!
I have declare a sorted type table with NON -UNIQUE, and want to use Binary search in read statement. But while  using bunary search in read statement I'm facing an error. The ERROR is
"Table LI_MARC is a SORTED TABLE or INDEX TABLE. The BINARY SEARCH
addition is only allowed for these tables if the key specified is an
initial part of the table key."
Please find detail
TYES: tt_marc  TYPE SORTED TABLE OF marc   WITH NON-UNIQUE KEY matnr, werks.
DATA: li_marc type tt_marc.
READ TABLE li_marc INTO marc WITH KEY matnr = i_mbew-matnr
                                                                          werks = i_mbew-bwkey BINARY SEARCH .
To my understanding , there is no need to mention Bianry Search  for sorted table TYPE. Please  let me know can  i use ?

Hello,
there is no need to mention Bianry Search for sorted table TYPE.
Yes, this is because for SORTED TABLEs binary search algorithm is used by default for READ TABLE. Although you can use BINARY SEARCH addition but it's use is redundant.
As for your case you've defined the KEY fields incorrectly There shouldn't be any "comma(s)" between the fields.
TYPES: tt_marc TYPE SORTED TABLE OF marc WITH NON-UNIQUE KEY matnr werks.
When you define it with commas
TYPES: tt_marc TYPE SORTED TABLE OF marc WITH NON-UNIQUE KEY matnr, werks.
the result is something like this:
TYPES: tt_marc TYPE SORTED TABLE OF marc WITH NON-UNIQUE KEY matnr.
TYPES: werks.
Hence you were getting the syntax error!
BR,
Suhas
PS: As for MARC you can use UNIQUE KEY addition because MATNR & WERKS are the key fields in the table.
