Search URL

Greetings all!
I'm working with KM 5.0 on EP 5, SP5. I've got a developer who wants to put a search box on one of her web pages and have it search a specific KM repository. She does not want to use one of the out of the box search iviews that comes with KM.
The closest that I've been able to come to providing this is the following URL:
https://qaportal.graybar.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sapportals.km.service?startpage=searchpage&configfilename=navigation.xml&resourcelisttype=com.sapportals.wcm.searchresultlist&searchtype=ctrlpers&selectedsearchin=0#
This URL is the href behind a 'Search' link that she's put on her web page. If you click on this 'Search' link, it brings up what looks like a search iview page and you can use it to search KM. However, it seems to search all KM repositories.
Does anyone know how to accomplish what this developer is wanting? How do you control which KM repositories are searched? Also, how do you modify it so that things like the 'Save as iView' button do not show up? How do you manipulate the java iView settings like you would in the 'Java' tab in the search iView?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Stephen,
well EP5 SP5 is quite old. There are some options, but it's not very convenient to set them.
It's possible to restrict the search according to a set of indexes (see for example note 686650).
Additionally you can restrict your search on a certain folder.
For this complete the URL as if you execute a 'Search from here' on a folder.
It's easy to find the addon for the URL
(eg. &SelectedSearchFolder=/documents&SelectedSearchFromHere=/documents)
Hope that helps in first place.
Kind regards Matthias Röbig-Landau

  • How to Modify Search URL's in Forums?

    OK, this has been plaguing me for a while now, but had time on my hands, so will ask for some assistance from the forum gurus here.
    Problem:
    I use the Forum Search (yeah, I know that the name could be better... ), to locate many articles to link to. In most cases, I know the exact Search keyword to use, but I then have an issue - the URL provided for the article is almost always pointing way down a long thread. That can be useful sometimes, but I want to get the URL for the beginning of those threads, to make it easier for others (especially new users) to get the thread from the beginning, and not at the end, or even the middle. Even when the Search keyword is in the title, and also in the OP, the Adobe Forum Search always dumps me at the end of the thread, or at best, the middle - never at the beginning.
    Here is an example:
    Search in Premiere Elements Tips & Tricks Forum for keyword "resources." I get http://forums.adobe.com/message/3953827#3953827, which is about the middle of that thread. The word "Resources" is used in the title, and also the OP (mine), but I do not get it, until down the thread. The Search function seems to overlook the first several uses of the word, and I get the URL for the Re:. This is the URL that I want: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/800455?tstart=0.
    What do I need to do, to get that ____start=0 ?
    Appreciated,
    Hunt

    Bill,
    Actually, it is sometimes possible to get to the thread URL in another way, but I am afraid it is no less silly.
    1) Make the search (Ask the Question) and get to wherever in the thread;
    2) Go to the top (if needed) and Click [the OP], then click [the OP]'s Stuff and see whether the thread is still in the list without Re: at the start.
    That will give the thread URL (without the ?tstart=0, though), as in this case http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1405227, which is viable in itself; you may add the ?tstart=0.
    I just made it before it went off the list.

  • TREX Search URL - available parameters

    Hi,
    You can use a URL to search TREX indices, like:
    http://xxxxx/irj/go/km/prteventname/HtmlbEvent/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fevery_user!2fgeneral!2feu_role!2fcom.sap.km.home_ws!2fcom.sap.km.hidden!2fcom.sap.km.urlaccess!2fcom.sap.km.basicsearch?SearchType=ctrlpers&QueryString=drupa&SelectedSearchIn=FROM_HERE&SelectedSearchFolder=/intranet&SelectedSearchFromHere=/intranet&StartUri=/intranet&SearchVisible=true

  • SEO friendly site search urls

    We have the site search module set up but it returns unfriendly looking urls for all the results despite us having SEO friendly urls for each catalogue and product. Is there some way to rectify this?

    I found this question while trying to solve a somewhat related question.
    We needed the urls for the pages to be clean when they arrive at the page in order to drive some specific scripting.
    Basically:
    page loads
    script checks the page's url
    if the path matches a certain parameters, perform a certain functions
    The issue we were running into, was that when people came on to a page from the search results page
    the url would look like this:
          http://www.website.com/Default.aspx?PageID=45247074&A=SearchResult&SearchID=3759787&ObjectID=35247074&ObjectType=1
    which prevented the scripting from working correctly.
    The work around we came up with was using the {module_breadcrumbs,} module in a hidden span on the page and having our script key off of that.
    It certainly wouldn't help any SEO issues but if you were solely looking to make the page display it's human friendly url, that module and some relatively simple JS would work.

  • How do I stop Safari from automatically loading a URL when I start typing the first few letters in the URL/search bar?

    My question concerns a bug (or feature, I'm not sure which) that I've been seeing for some time on my Safari installations.
    I'm running Lion (the latest patched version) with Safari (ditto). I've noticed that every so often, if I open a new tab and start typing something in the search/URL bar, Safari will not only suggest something based on my history, but will actually begin loading the page as though I had accepted that suggestion.
    For example, today, I typed the letter "b" in the search/URL bar, paused for a few seconds while I was thinking of what to type next, and Safari went ahead and loaded "bugzilla.gnome.org" based on that being the last URL starting with "b" that I happened to have gone to. And the same thing has happened to me on earlier occasions with different web sites. In other words, it's not merely giving me a suggestion, it then proceeds as though I had accepted that suggestion. Sometimes it might happen to be right, but it's the principle of the thing.
    Needless to say, I hadn't inadvertently bumped the Enter key.
    Of course, ordinarily, Safari will just offer a list of suggestions based on my bookmarks and browsing history, maybe filling out the URL bar with the topmost suggestion (while giving me the option of overtyping it if I wish). And, of course, this happens without fail if I've just had Safari preempt me by loading a page and am trying to find out why. Like the best Heisenbugs, this "feature" goes away as soon as I make a concerted attempt to study it.
    I have completely disabled AutoFill in the Preferences dialog. I would clear the cache and history, except that I kind of resent having to do that every time (or turn on private browsing, possibly another option) just to stop the computer from executing an instruction that I haven't even finished giving it yet (and in many cases intend to change).
    Has anyone else seen or been able to disable this feature?

  • Show search term in URL (for google analytics)

    Hi there,
    I was hoping someone might have advice for a newbie question.
    When someone searches on our website we'd love to know WHAT they are searching on
    (this would allow us to create more products based on searches - e.g if lots of people are searching for Red then we'll create more Red products..)
    Our website is: http://www.angelaromatics.com.au
    The search url is currently coming up as: http://www.angelaromatics.com.au/Default.aspx?A=ProductSearch&ID=/search-results&SE=True
    Our search section is set up as:
    [code]
    <form name="catsearchform5878" action="/Default.aspx?A=ProductSearch&amp;ID=/search-results&amp;SE=True" method="post" class="search">
        <input type="text" name="CAT_ProductSearch" class="entry_form" placeholder="Search our products here..." />
        <button type="submit">Submit</button>
    </form>
    [/code]
    Is there anyway to get into the URL the query / search term (so google analytics will list it in results)?
    I'd love any advice

    consider the query result (short description) as a string (say String S1). Use string tokenizer and get each word as a token. consider your search query(eg: cold) as another string (say string S2). check for each token if it is equal to your string S2, show it as bold(using <b>) else print it as it is.
    I hope this helps.

  • Can i use results get from bing's url search without subscription and API ?

    Hi at all,
    sorry for my english...
    can i use, in my app, results from bing's url search string ?
    or i must get a subscription to Bing API ?
    Thx

    Hi VinxC,
    Do you mean you wanna leverage Bing Search URL, e.g.
    http://www.bing.com/search?q=Microsoft, to get the search results (keywords as Microsoft in this Sample URL) within your app? Essentially, you could make this work via an asynchronous call in your app, for example, via WebClient like this:
    WebClient client =
    new
    WebClient();
    string serviceAddress =
    "http://www.bing.com/search?q=Microsoft";
    client.DownloadStringCompleted += new
    DownloadStringCompletedEventHandler(Client_DownloadStringCompleted);
    Uri token =
    new
    Uri(serviceAddress);
    client.DownloadStringAsync(token);
    private
    void Client_DownloadStringCompleted(object
    sender, DownloadStringCompletedEventArgs e)
    string callresult = e.Result;
    Then you can parse the result string as you want, here are some samples for how to visualize a HTML string:
    http://www.codeproject.com/Questions/619974/Parsing-Html-Document-using-csharp
    http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/57176/Parsing-HTML-Tags-in-C
    However, I don’t recommend you to embed the Bing search in your app in this way.
      >>
    or i must get a subscription to Bing API ?
    As a matter of fact, we could use our Bing search API in a more efficient way, which enables us to embed search results using Json and XML, furthermore, we could have a free offer (5,000Transactions/month) of Bing Search API as well, please refer to
    https://datamarket.azure.com/dataset/bing/search for more information. The quick start and code sample of Bing search API could be found at:
    https://onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?resid=9C9479871FBFA822!112&app=Word&authkey=!ANNnJQREB0kDC04.
     Should you have any concern for using Bing Search API in your app, please feel free to let us know.

  • How can I get rid of by back/foward buttons and move my url bar to the right of my tabs, as I had in the previous version of firefox?

    Before I updated Firefox, my tabs were on the same line as the search/url bar, and I didn't have the back/forward buttons. I liked the simple design I had, but now it doesn't seem like I can go back to that setting.

    There is an extension which gives you a lot of control over your toolbar layout. It is described and linked in this article: [[How to make the new Firefox look like the old Firefox]]. Can you get the result you're looking for?

  • Copy command not working for Search Results

    Hello,
    We have a Search Form that triggers a  TREX URL search.  We also add a custom Layout Set on the search URL.  (see URL below)
    <b>URL Search:</b>
    http:
    <server name> &ConfigFileName=Navigation.xml&layoutSetMode=exclusive&ResourceListType=com.sapportals.wcm.SearchResultList&SearchType=ctrlpers&QueryString=*&rndLayoutSet=CustomLayoutSet&SelectedMatchesPerPage=15&SearchVisible=false
    In the custom Layout Set, we've made our own UI command group to include the following commands:  Search_from_here, details, copy, move etc…
    The problem is that whenever we click on the 'Copy'  or 'Move' command of a resource, we get the following error message:
    =====================================
    Item not found
    The item you are attempting to access is not available. Check that the name or link is correct. You might also check whether the associated repository is currently accessible.
    ======================================
    The error message in the KM log files simply states "ERROR: RID not found".
    Would anyone know how to fix this issue!  I've tried many layout sets, but the copy command always gives me the same error message!
    Any help or suggestions on this would be much appreciated...
    Thanks,
    Harman

    Hi Harman,
    yes, this is a known issue.
    It's fixed with NW04 SPS 13.
