Search XML DB with Text

Hi I want to use XML DB to store files(documents) and no XML. Is there a way to use Oracle Text with it?
I'm building a document management system around it.
I don't want to use the normal BLOB (or secure files) because than I'm missing the WebDAV interface.

Hi,
normally the functionality of the XML DB should be installed as soon as you have 10g Express Edition ready to go. I tried it with 10g R2 for several times and it worked all fine.
I assume you use 10g R2 ... .
In this case you have to add a few steps after installation.
First take care that the xdb user is "initialized" that means in 10g R2 you need the right password and the xdb user needs to get additional rights. Connect as sys or system.
alter user xdb identified by xdb;
alter user xdb account unlock;
grant connect to xdb;
Second if you want to use http/WebDAv/ftp you have to provide the ports (until 10g R1 automatically provided with the installation). Default ports are 8080 (http and WebDAV) and 2100 (ftp).
To deliver the ports try this
connect as xdb
call dbms_xdb.cfg_update(updateXML(dbms_xdb.cfg_get(),
'/xdbconfig/sysconfig/protocolconfig/httpconfig/http-port/text()'8080))
call dbms_xdb.cfg_update(updateXML(dbms_xdb.cfg_get(),
'/xdbconfig/sysconfig/protocolconfig/ftpconfig/ftp-port/text()'2100))
To test whether XML DB is enabled find out whether the XML DB repository is "available". If you get an answer to the following select statement you can start working.

Yes, thanks Steve. I loaded ctxsrv as a daemon process and it syncs all DML every few seconds. Very nice, however, I heard ctxsrv causes a lot of index fragmentation?

I'm not sure exactly what you are referring to, but I know that surf canyon and duck duck go aren't included with Firefox by default. It is possible an add-on took over your Firefox.
Do this:
Update to Firefox 15. [[Update Firefox to the latest version]]
Then, Reset Firefox. [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]]

How to search for the selected text with a non-default search engine?

Hi,
Before the recent update of the search bar, you could select your "current" search engine, and a search for the selected text (right-click on selection) would use that engine.
Now, it seems that you can only search for the selected text using the default engine. If that's correct, this is a major step backwards for me. For instance, I can't have Google as my default search engine, and search for a selected text on eBay!
Or am I missing something?

How can I extract XML from a text document?

I have tons of text documents containing useless text and a section of XML. I would like to use either Mac Automator or Apple Script to pull the XML section out and place it in a new document with a .xml extension. How can I do that?

XML portion always starts with <Infringement and ends with </Infringement>.
Actually, it doesn't... the XML starts with the <?xml> tag, but that's just me being pedantic
Given what you've said, though, it's easy to extract the XML data from a given block of text.
First, read the source data:
set theText to read file "path:to:the:file"
Then you can extract the XML via something like:
set start_tag to "<?xml"
set end_tag to "</Infringement>"
set start_of_data to offset of start_tag in theText
set end_of_data to (offset of end_tag in theText) + (-1 + (length of end_tag))
set theXML to text start_of_data through end_of_data of theText
Now you can write that data to a file:
set theFile to open for access file ((path to desktop as text) & "output.xml" as text) with write permission
set eof theFile to 0
write theXML to theFile starting at 0
close access theFile
If you have multiple files you can either run this in a loop that iterates over the files, or save the script as a droplet, then drop the files onto the script icon. Let me know if you need help with that, too.

Can you provide a test case that shows the structure of the data and how you've generated the index? Otherwise, the generic advice is going to be "use prefix indexing".

Issue with 'text box' in rtf sub template for peoplesoft XMLP

i have a weired problem using 'text Box' in a sub template. I am calling a sub template from my template. In my Sub template i have a text box ( i am using text box bcoz i want to justify the text not to the page margin but starting from a specific column.not sure if there is any other way with which i can do the same !!) . Hi,
What ever text you are sending in the email, create a standard text for it using tcode SO10. In the program use the FM READ_TEXT to get the data into internal table which will be of length 132 char. If you want line widht of 255 chars convert using FM SX_TABLE_LINE_WIDTH_CHANGE as below,

No phone icon to answer incoming calls with text message

I have a brand new iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1.4.
When I have an incoming call, I do not get the small telephone icon on the bottom right of the screen, so I have no access to options such as answer with text message. What can be done to activate this?

You search your iPhone for the Phone app and put it back there.
Or tap in Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen layout button

Phone is really slow with text messages

hi, im new here and lookin for a little help. iv had the phone for a few months and now my curve freezes when i try to open a text message. also when i press send it freezes up. i dont have to restart it or anything but it takes about 7 seconds to regain itself. this only happens with text messages. emails work fine, facebook notifications work fine. i send and receive quite a bit of texts, emails, and facebook notifications and i have 14 applications. i did the update/ recovery& reboot thing on my computer. i have wifi preferred as my connection preference and tmobile is my mobile network. any tips? or do i have to just live with this?
EDIT: i searched around on the forum a little bit and resolved the issue. i didnt know that it was only happening when i texted one person because i mostly only text this one person. but i guess i had to go to my phone book and text this person thru that instead of just replying. after that i can open and reply with no problem. sorry for takin up space on the forum. im new lol

Sometimes I think I don't get told about a message until I unlock my phone and when I do I get a notification and a text tone as I unlock and it can be off a conversation I was having 10/15 minutes ago.

Search doesn't include text in calendar notes fields

I have a calendar created in iCal that includes about 90 entries with text in the notes field of each. Spotlight on the Mac searches that text fine.
I've synched that calendar to my iPhone - and search there doesn't include text in that field, though it does for the title field.
Its a great feature - but to keep calendar entries usable the titles need to be short with most details in the notes, but still searchable

Error when adding image in-line with text

When using some of my templates I have no problem in putting
a small graphic (a pdf icon) in-line with text. Yet with others the
insertion of the same small graphic forces a newline before and
after the graphic.
If the text and image is placed in an editable region of the
template, but not within a table cell all is ok.
If the text and image is place within a table cell within the
editable region the problem arises. I am sure there is something I
have specified incorrectly but cannot discover what it is.
An example of where it works fine is:

I am using Dreamweaver 8 within Studio 8 and run under

Create xml file with nested internla table or with header & item tables

Hi I have a requirement like, I need to create an xml file for header and item details. For 1 header there may be multiple line items.
I did search in forums some where I came to know that we can use XSL:IF to achieve this. but I could not able to do this.
I tried with using nested internal tables also but now luck.
can anybody please suggest how can we create xml for header and item detials.

here belnr and wrbtr will be my item details. for each payment document I can have multiple invoices. in CDF I need to display the invoices for that particular payment document.
what conditions can I put there before CDFs to make the item internal table to loop based on header internal table.
