Searching the Internet?

Just wondering what my options are for including in a java program the functionality of being able to serching the Internet?
(I know of the Google API, but am doing a project and trying to find any other similar methods - only other method can think of it writing a web crawler, though will probably be ineffiecnt)

You mean searching the internet, as in retrieving and indexing all the content you can so you can then perform queries against your indices?
In other words, duplicating Google?
That'll be a nontrivial project.

Replying to my own post - heh. I downloaded iExplorer (http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/) which allowed me access to the files on the phone and there was the phantom movie in the DCIM folder. Deleted it, and all is well - although I still have 0.65gb of Other in iTunes.....

Whenever I go to iTunes with my iPod 5th generation 32 gb iPod Touch, running iOS 8.0.2, It tells me that the "Other" category is using up 14.59 gb of data. I have no clue why it says this and I have searched the internet for fixes and none worked.

I have tried restoring to a backup but that didn't help. I haven't had time to do a full restore but I will try if the problem persists.

An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

Next, usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

Google is not an app, it's a search engine.
Click this link > http://www.google.com/
Then bookmark that page so it's easy to access. From the Safari menu bar top of your screen click Bookmarks > Add Bookmark.
From the pop up menu select: Bookmarks Bar
You can access your Bookmarks not just from the Bookmarks Bar, but by clicking the Bookmarks icon top left corner of the Safari window

It sounds as if your BB is not properly registered with your carrier...I suggest the following:
1) Register HRT:
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > BBKey (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
2) Resend Service Books:
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
If that does not help, then contact your carrier.
Otherwise, there are a multitude of questions/answers to go through to help you out, but those won't work unless you come to the forums and register an account. Please come to:

When trying to search the internet, Firefox simply clears what I type in after I click send.

I cannot search the internet using Firefox... clicking "search" just erases whatever I type in.
Am able to search using a different browser. Have the latest version, etc.

There are five places to "search" within Firefox.
# Search Bar
# about: home - the default homepage
# about:newtab - the new tab page
# the Location Bar
# Contexual Menu ''search for "...."'' feature
All are controlled by the Search Bar "engine" selection
Is that issue the same with all areas of "search"

Until your recent change, I used Firefox to search the internet. Nows I get a message that says "File not found." I DO NOT want to use google, but that SEEMS to be my only choice. WTF? Tell me how to get back to my Firefox search.

After the change Firefox made about a month ago, I can't get my search line browser, whatever the hell it is at the top of my computer screen, to give me anything. The only way I can search the internet is using google. I DO NOT want to use google for anything on my computer.

Droid Bionic will not turn on (Searched the internet for answers, nothing)

Currently, my Droid Bionic will not charge/power on. If I plug I connect it to the wall charger, nothing. If I plug it to my computer, nothing. If I bypass the USB port and use a stripped USB cable directly to the battery while it's in the phone, it turns on, but doesn't charge (Let it sit for hours turned off, then pull the cable, and no power). I've done these methods with numerous cables to include the OEM cable/charger and other branded cables/chargers and I get nothing. I can get the white light to come on with any cable and charger if I have the USB cable in slightly, but it doesn't charge or turn on when left for hours. I've tried with numerous batteries both from friends and new, same story....nothing. The only thing to get the phone on is by bypassing the usb port on the phone and directly wiring the usb cable to the battery while in the phone.

For a loooooooong time now, I have been researching the internet searching for answers to my issue....and nothing has worked. The phone is relatively new. bought it in May 2012 and have been experiencing this problem since June 2012. It's December 2012 now, so yea...a long time.

I am having the same issue since last night (although i have not yet tried stripping a USB cable and connecting directly to the battery while in the phone) where the phone will not boot at all with any combination of SIM card, SD card, USB charger/computer, etc.
I did come across one solution online though that you might try. One person said they had the same issue, however it was a bad SD card that was shorting out his battery and instantly draining it (he tried multiple fully charged brand new batteries with same issue).
I would suggest removing the SD card to see if thats the problem. If not then i'd be interested to see if you do find a solution. Mine was buggy ever since the last update and finally died completely last night. I'll be going in for a replacement today.

Spotlight won't search the Internet on iOS 8.0.2

Apple said said that spotlight can now show the Internet search things directly below the spotlight bar. I know that feature has to be activated in settings but I did that and it still doesn't work! I mean I click on it, the tick thing shows, I exit from settings, try spotlight (won't work), go back to settings and the "bing search" (or whatever it's called) is not marked/ticked! I though that Apple fixed it on the newest update.

The screen accidentally returned to normal size, so I must have tapped with the right number of fingers the right number of times I my desparation! I went and turned the zoom off. Thanks for the info.

Everyone is correct. When using just the mobile network (EDGE, not WiFi), you can only do voice or data at any one time. If you're on a call, you can't surf the web. If you are surfing the web, and actively using the connection, you can't make an outgoing call and incoming calls will go straight to voice mail.
Note that actively using the connection means that you are loading a page at that very point in time. If you have loaded a page and are just reading it, then calls will work.
You can surf and call at the same time, but only if you have a WiFi connection.

When search the internet sponsered links only appear no normal web search

i installed vuse and without selecting has hijacked my search option on the internet. i have ininstalled all related programs made sure that google chrome is my browser but vuse is still coming up. it is only showing sponsered links and not the usual searches i get. the vuse icon still appears at the top of the web page. i have not vuse toolbar though

Set the service order to have wifi first.

Recently a software update 7.1 presented itself on my phone. Since attempting to download it, I have lost the ability to search the internet while away from my computer. As well I can't call an one. And they can't call me. The 7.1 update keeps popping up.

Since attempting to download the latest update of 7.1. the download confirmation showed a pop up saying; unable to install. Can't re attempt to install. Lost internet ability when away from computer and I can't be called, nor can I call anyone. Please, can anyone help me with this? I'll even go back to what I had, had before attempting the 7.1 download.

Sounds like your only able to use Wifi on your device currently which indicates you have lost network connection with your cellular provider ....you can call them to troubleshoot this but one common issue in some countries is that if you are on a 3G only network this can become turned off after a software update...go to settings > cellular/mobile > and see if enable 3G or enable 4G/LTE is off or on try turning it on and then power off phone and on again and this will probably fix it, so you can make calls etc and use the internet away from the computer. As for the update always do an itunes backup first and they make sure you have long enough for this update to run through on wifi and then try it again. Good Luck

Why won't my phone load when I search the Internet?

Ensure that you have good wifi or 3G connection. IF you do, then try a reset, hold down the home/power butoon together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.

I have an Ipad 2, I recently downloaded IOS 7.0.4, now when I open up Safari to search the internet it will come up for a split second then dissapear and take me back to the home screen. So it wont even let me search for anything.
