Second install on a pismo

OK, I'm at the end of my rope here. I installed Tiger on my PB G3 pismo months ago without a hitch, Put the DVD in ran the install-no problem. I recently wanted to wipe the drive and re-install, now I have all kinds of problems. Using the DVD-Rom drive in the Pismo, sometimes I get a kernel panic, sometimes I don't. When I don't, the install stop during "asian languages support," even though I have unchecked that language for the install. OR I get a "there is a problem with you disk" during the install disk check. I've tried installing over firewire target mode -no go. I've tried CCC - no go. I've tried the restore method that pops up on the google search for installing on older macs - no go. I don't get it, the first time was seamless, no probems. I ran tiger on the PB for months with no problems (ran great actually)- now I've spent four days trying to install Tiger on the PB. Anyone run into this? Advice on installing on the PB? Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions and help. I do know about the DVD, friend of mine had a Pismo and his is gone completely. I have yet to have problems with it until now. Here is the status. After the 7 hour install of Jaguar and the 3 hour 10.2.8 combo update, I tried to update to Tiger but got the same kernal panics. I zeroed the HD and removed the top RAM. Couldn't boot (only 64 mb in the bottom chip). So I re-installed the RAM and did not get a kernal panic. Started the Tiger install - seemed seemless and quick, until it got to the languages. It then just stopped with the message there was an error installing the software please try installing again. (This happened previously when I could get the DVD to boot either from the Pismo or an external dvd drive. First time during Asian languages, which I did not have selected to install - and this time with Swedish languages).
I figured I'ld run disk repair before trying to re-install, but got the kernal panic when I booted up with the Tiger DVD. I removed and re-installed the RAM again. Booted up with the Tiger DVD with no problems and this time did an erase and install with only the essential bare bones software + X11. Install successfull1!!
Don't know what's going on but I'm gessing either the RAM is going or the logic board is on its way. Man I just need this laptop for a couple more months I hope it holds out. I want a new MacBook, just can't shell out the $$$$ right now.

I upgraded from Anna to Belle on the first day that Belle was available. Yesterday I re-installed Belle.
Since updating my E7 from Anna to Belle I have had mixed opinions as to whether that was wise to do.
Though Belle has a lot to like about it in features and speed, there are many things that were really good in Anna but have been degraded or are even missing in Belle. See this list which many people have contributed to:

I have customized the home screens (use three) quite a bit and have added a number of free apps for more convenience in use of the phone.
Before I tell you my experiences and give you my reasoning I should give some background about myself and my Nokia E7-00. Note that though I am very competent with computer hardware and software I have much less knowledge and skill with cell phones.
My E7-00 is my second Nokia phone experience. I also bought an E6-00 for my wife. I got the E7 for myself because I need the large keyboard for my large fingers and I like the GPS/maps capability. I got the E6 for my wife because she was unhappy with the touch screen on her Nokia 5230 and is more comfortable with a keyboard.
I have owned my E7 for less than a year, use it primarily for my small business, and upgraded to Anna immediately after purchasing it. Though I tested using a data connection for WEB browsing for a couple of months I don't subscribe to a data service now because I found little use for it and it is (in my opinion) very expensive here in Canada. I do connect my E7 to the Internet often using WIFI through my home or business routers, and occasionally through WIFI connections at hotels and other locations when I travel.
Since upgrading to Belle I have had many occasions when my phone would freeze either momentarily or permanently (necessitating powering it off) and a few times it has completely shut off for no reason. I have had a number of occasions when I have been unable to answer an incoming call because the touch screen was unresponsive.
In trying to determine the cause of the problems with the phone I have removed apps and done soft resets of the phone.
I thought about re-installing Belle but was loath to do it because of the bad experience I had when I first upgraded from Anna to Belle. At that time I did a backup of my phone using the latest version of Nokia Suite. The download and install of the Belle update went very smoothly. But once the phone was functional again I found that I lost many things including all my customizations, my WIFI settings, and all the many map favorites (GPS coordinates) I had collected when traveling and calling on customers. The backup that the Belle installation software performed did not restore these things, and the same was true of the backup I did with Nokia Suite.
Yesterday my frustration level with the phone was such that I decided I had to try a re-install of Belle. I did another backup up the phone with Nokia Suite and synced the map favorites with Nokia's on-line service. But I also had the inspiration to download the latest version of Nokia PC Suite and do a backup with that too - a good thing I did!
I used Nokia Suite to re-install Belle. After the reinstall I again had lost all my customization, some installed apps, and all map favorites. I tried to restore things by using the backup I had done with Nokia Suite, but that did not work.
Then I restored the backup I made with Nokia PC Suite and EVERYTHING was back. I could hardly believe my good fortune. Even my map favorites were back.
Since it is little more than 24 hours since my re-install of Belle I cannot say whether it was really worth the effort. But so far the phone does seem to be behaving itself. It is a little smoother in operation with less delay and I have not had any freezing. On the other hand it has been a quiet day and the phone has not had a good workout. Still, I am hopeful.
This most recent experience makes me wonder if Nokia is making improvements in Belle without giving notification. I am wondering if the version of Belle that was used for the re-install is different from the original version I installed about a month ago.
I will not upgrade my wife's E6 to Belle until I know that the problems with Belle have been fixed.

Installation issue in second install on home computer?

I have a full CC membership on my office lap top, I signed in on my home computer and it ony installed 30 day versions.
My Windows 7.0 64 bit Microsoft firewall appears to have stopped all Adobe product from working as when I attempt to open the app I am asked to sign in as they sit there unable to connect.
How do get the advertised second install working correctly?
How do get the Abobe CC to sign in to function if the Windows security is stopping it from connecting?

10.4.9 pooched mini, second install disc never completes

Like a good Mac owner I tried installing the 10.4.9 update. BIG mistake as it pooched my mini. Update fails to install, forces me to reboot then hangs. Forced a reboot which hangs at Apple logo screen. So I decide to reinstall from CD supplied with Mini. First disc fine, restarts, ejects and asks for second disc. I put the second disc in and it runs all the way until one minute from the end where it hangs. And hangs. So I left it all night and this morning after eight hours it still has one minute remaining.
So I force restart and try the second disc again, same thing, it hangs with a minute to go. I try to reboot and eject the disc by holding the mouse button down, no luck. Reboot holding the Option key down to see if I can change boot volumes, nothing.
So if I can't reinstall from the Apple CDs and can't eject the CD what the heck can I do to fix this thing?

1.87Ghz Core Duo Mini Mac OS X (10.4.8)

After much work, rebooting over and over I managed to get the second install disc out of the mini. I then ran Disk Utility's "Repair Disk" which didn't find any problems. So, because I have a really good backup I decided to do a clean install from the discs that came with the mini. After a couple of hours, everything was back to normal. I am SO happy that I had a good backup, I was able to reimport all my setting and applications and get back to where I was before all this mess.
Heck I even updated to 10.4.9 without a problem

Second install questions

I purchased CS3 Design Standard and later upgraded to CS4 Master Collection. Both are installed and running well on my work computer. I will be taking a few weeks of vacation soon and will take my camera and laptop. I would like to install Photoshop on my laptop to edit while I'm away.
Questions:
1. Can I still install Photoshop CS3 as a my second install or will I have to go with CS4?
2. When I return I will be adding a new computer for work. Can I then deactivate the laptop install and then use my second install on my new computer or will that cause a problem with too many activations?
I would prefer to run CS3 on my laptop as it's a couple of years old and I don't need any features from CS4 Extended.
Ultimately what I want to end up with is CS3 and CS4 on my original computer, CS4 on my new computer, and Photoshop CS3 on my laptop.

1. Yes, you can install PS CS3.
2. Yes, you should be able to do so. The number of activations is per product, so you should be fine.

I am in charge of administering our recently purchased 10 seat CC for Teams-Education License. Can we use our second install per license on another work station shared by our student interns? Thank you for reahcing out to us for this query .
As per the Eula, one seat is assigned to one user only but that one user can have the products installed on upto two of Machines that belongs to him . So in our case , since you are installing the product on a machine that does not belong to the original user , you will be violating the terms of EULA .

Thanks for your timely reply. In our case however the machines belong to the department, not the individual user, so would not fair use include install on the department's machines? I am certainly not trying to over parse your response or find a way around the EULA-since money is a large issue for a state institution (California State University, Northridge-I'm in the Marketing Department), I have to do my due diligence to make sure we are being as fiscally responsible as possible and it does seem to me that looked at from the perspective of departmental ownership, the install on a second workstation should be allowed. Reset the hosts file:
Windows
Choose Start > Run, type %systemroot% \system32\drivers\etc, and then press Enter.
Right-click the hosts file and select Open. Select Notepad for the application to open the hosts file.
Back up the hosts file: Choose File > Save As, save the file as hosts.backup, and then click OK.
Search the hosts file for entries that reference activate.adobe.com (for example, 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com) and delete these entries.
Save and close the file.
Mac OS
Log in as an administrator to edit the hosts file in Mac OS.
In a Finder window, choose Go > Go To Folder.
Type /etc.
Select the hosts file and open it.
Back up the hosts file: Choose File > Save As, save the file as hosts.backup, and then click OK.
Search the hosts file for entries that reference activate.adobe.com (for example, 127.0.0.1 activate.adobe.com) and delete these entries.

Problem with serial number on second install

I bought and downloaded CS4 upgrade. The first install on my desktop went fine. When trying to install the second on my laptop, the serial number box turns up a red x immediately upon typing it. I have verified my serial number and re-typed it numerous times. I did an on-line chat and after a half hour wait was told they couldn't help me. Gave me two phone numbers to call for licensing problem, both long distance. I called both numbers and got fax machines both times. This is frustrating, thus my screen name.....frustrated Brooks. Can anyone help?

Technically you are only allowed 2 installs on your machine, which includes all versions. If you have CS3 on the computer then you are at capacity and the system may know this. This is a grey area but there was a thread on in today.

I would recommend verifying that any third-party plug-ins are compatible with Photoshop CC 2014 before you remove Photoshop CC.

I had to reformat my computer. when I reinstalled my Itunes It installed with each album installed two then on second install three times.

Lost computer--would not boot. Had to reinstall windows 7, I later was installing I Tunes which I have had for years. I installed new version from web site.
when it installed It installed It installed with two of every and song. I removed the program and now it installs with three of each somg. Of course it will play each album three times.

If you can't find the back-up of your purchases to restore from then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:

Failing to install tiger on pismo

I am trying to install Tiger on my 500Mhz/768Ram Pismo with a 80Gig harddrive.
I have got a bootable copy of a installer cd, in read me it says its working on all computers with G3,G4 with firewire port.
When I am trying to install and press restart a sign comes up showing a circle with a diagonal line. When I start with C pressed it starts from the cd. It seemed to proceed with the installation but at the end it said there was a failure.
Also when I chose the drive it did not ask archive or delete or anything.
I tried once more, this time I tried to initialize the drive with disk utility, but it did it unusually fast. This time the installer said installation is not possible.
I am running OS 9.2.2.

If it is a copy of a gray disk, those are machine-specific. ReadMe may say installs on any G3, G4, but the extensions needed to actually install from this particular CD onto ANY G3, G4 may not be included.
To have success, you should have a pressed CD/DVD that is Black with a large Silver-White X on the face. It should not say "Drop In" or "Upgrade" or "Not for Sale" or similar phrases -- these may not be Full Installers.
Unlike Windows, Mac OS X is released without the need for a serial number or other annoying copy protection. I urge you to support this policy by owning a more legitimate Disc. Even a Disc you buy used is better than a copy, and is more reliable (and more easily read) as well.
